After getting right-hooked by a car on Commercial St, which twisted my headset and handlebars to the side, I pedaled my awkward steed back to Urban AdvenTours for a little help getting home. Best way to see Boston, hands down. We covered 10-12 miles in the City Sights tour - the staff Keith, Angie, and Sadie were all very accommodating and worked well together as a team to make you feel safe and well informed about all the sights and culture of the city. We were even joined by the owner, Andrew, who was riding incognito until halfway through the tour where he expressed his gratitude toward his staff and the customers for supporting his business and the bike culture. Excellent way to explore the city and its many highlights. I used this tour as my 'get acclimated tour' and it was totally worth it! The City Tour takes you through many of the highlights, Harbor walk, Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Copley Square, Fenway, etc. Boston is an incredibly bike-able city. Tour leaders were fun, personable and helpful. Highly recommend if you are comfortable with riding a bike in city streets. It is a great way to explore a fascinating city. read more

Great family experience. Youngest one was not a confident biker. The guide was patient and made sure that he always kept an eye on him. You do ride your bike on the main city streets, so if you're not athletic don't worry, but you do have to have a fairly solid control of your bike and feel comfortable riding alongside cars. There were a few times we had to take left turns so that made me a little nervous with my amateur cyclist in tow. Plenty of stops, including in the park, baseball area, and he took us around some places where we ended up coming the next few days to bakeries and restaurants. I think this is perfect for families and teenagers in particular made groan at first but they absolutely loved it when we were done. We also stopped at places for great photographs which are still in our family album. read more

I went to this shop cause I needed my bike to get fixed. After one of the employees fixed one of my tires, the general manager (apparently him being the owner as well) came out with a really bad attitude telling their employees they shouldn't fix my bike cause it was too old. The guy did not just look like a prick but he also certainly sounded like one, making their employees feel bad in front of us (customers) and left just saying they can't fix our tire, which they certainly did without any problem after he was gone. We paid the amount of the replaced tube and left. We will never come back to this place again, people like that general manager (store owner) should be more humble to their employees and his customers in the future, it's pitiful to see people like him being in charge of such a small business. He hung up on us and told us "we can do whatever we want with our crappy bike" when we tried to put a complaint against him over the phone. He did not want to provide his name. Hopefully this comment will kick some sense into him and help their employees not to be treated with such bad attitude next time. This happened on August 23rd at 4.30pm. read more

THE best tour I've taken in Boston yet. I moved to this area officially about two years ago and to get acclimated to the city I took one of the bike tours with a visiting friend and my sister. I cannot express how awesome it was. Exercise with a history lesson and stunning views of the city. It cannot get better. I've also done a Duck Tour, which I recommend, but it is nothing compared to these bike tours. They are so invigorating and informational. LOVED IT. My friend and I were looking for an outdoor activity involving exercise to enjoy the 70 degree weather this past week. We could not have asked for a better experience!! We booked the 10:00 City View Tour. I was nervous that we would be riding alongside cars while on the tour, but the majority of the two and a half hours was spent on well-paved bike paths along the waterfront and the Charles River. I live about 40 minutes from Boston, so I've been to the city plenty of times, but this experience was completely different from anything else I've done. The tour brings you through every neighborhood that you might want to visit, including several college campuses, the Fenway area, Copley Square, Boston Common, and Faneuil Hall. Greg, our tour guide, had interesting information to share with us, and did a great job of taking pictures of us at every stop. Bikes and helmets are provided, and the bikes have a large zip-up bag on the front for your phone, keys, wallet, etc. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wishing to explore the city of Boston in a completely different way! read more

We did the tour a few year's ago when it was based out of BU territory but now its located in downtown Boston. The guys know what they're doing and you get to see a lot of tourist, and not so touristy, places. Came to Boston for a long weekend. I rented a bike (no tour) for a 24 hour period. Urban Adventours is GREAT! Why? 1. Making the online reservation is super easy 2. The $35 cost is totally worth it 3. The bikes are sturdy and comfortable 4. Porter and his uncle, who worked the days I was there, are charming and funny and helpful 5. Biking is a really great way to see the city 6. 24 hour rental is convenient: 10am one day until 10am the next day 7. No one needs a rental car in Boston. Rent a bike instead! I rode around the city. I also took the bike on a commuter rail and went out to Natick/Wellesley, where I used to live, and rode a few miles around there before putting my bike back on the commuter rail in the evening. I locked up my bike in the alcove (where bags are stored) of my hotel overnight and then rode back to Urban Adventours in the morning. read more

My only minor issues were that last July when we took a tour, the water bottles were virtually frozen beforehand. Not this time, so it was tepid pretty soon. No restroom stop along the way. The wife signed us up through Buy With Me (we think) and after booking the morning tour we changed to the afternoon tour (no problem there). Taylor and Ed, our tour guides for the City View tour, introduced themselves and the bike and off we went for a three hour tour through Boston. These guys did their best to make it interesting, they were taking care of us as we road on the streets pretty well, and being some of the oldest bikers today (I'm 52 and my wife is older) we found the pace pretty good. This past November, my husband and I traveled with six friends to the east coast for a wedding. While we were there, we stayed in Boston to explore the city. A couple years back, I went on a bike tour (through a different company) in Paris, and it was by far one of my favorite highlights from that trip. I knew that riding a bike through the city would be a fun and exciting way to explore. I searched on Yelp and came across these amazing reviews. I knew our group of friends would enjoy a tour or rental through Urban AdvenTours...even in November. It happened to be my birthday while we were visiting, so my birthday present was to rent some awesome tandem bikes. Now, four tandem bikes riding through the city of Boston seems pretty crazy - and it was, but it was the highlight of the trip while we were there. We couldn't stop laughing. We went the rental route, and Natalie and the whole gang at Urban AdvenTours was amazing, friendly, and very helpful at explaining how to ride a tandem bike (first timers, here), where we needed to ride on the streets, the route, etc. It was a very fun way to see the city; especially parts of the city that we wouldn't have seen if we didn't ride bikes. Not only that, everyone in Boston was super friendly to us while we were riding around the city. Urban AdvenTours exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely do it again next time I am there. Hubby and I went on the City View tour today. We were originally scheduled for the 2pm tour, but called in and they said it would be okay if we switch to the 10am tour. My husband and I are both over 200lbs and I was a little concerned if we could handle the 10+ miles, but we did fine. We are from the country and have never ridden in city streets, but the tour guides did a great job of keeping all 16 of us together and safe. At points they would even hold the traffic for us so we all could get through. They are vey brave! This tour was an overview tour and they did not get into too much detail, I am a numbers type of person and many times I had to ask what year the things they were talking about were built. That is my only semi-complaint. We had a great time on the tour and highly recommend it. read more

I hired a road bike from Urban two weekends in a row and they were fantastic both times. The bike was ready when I arrived and the check in process was quick and straightforward. I got my bike from the bike shop side and found the guys there very knowledgeable and professional. They helped me with routes and gave me some good tips that come from proper local knowledge.
