My first impression was that I was walking in one of the Magical Hallmark movies and I found this shop. I explored every inch in the shop since I am fond of unique kitchen supplies, gadgets and utensils. I found them all in this shop.. They have lovely and stunning ornaments too. The shop was very organized.The staff were so sweet, welcoming and friendly. I wish I could spend longer time there. The Hen's Kitchen Shoppe is a hidden gem in Clairmont .I will be back very soon.

After breakfast, I walked on over & it is exactly what I pictured it AND MORE! Cute, darling kitchen items, gadgets (some I would not even know what to do with) and cooking paraphernalia abound! I couldn't stop staring & just wonder in complete awe. Wow! I barely had time to process & check everything out do the photos posted are just cursory pictures, for now. Must stop by another day when Hubby is not in a hurry or take one of my girlfriends to explore this shop & all of what Claremont has to offer. MY NEW FAVORITE PLANT NURSRY!!!!!…read more I used to go to those commercialized stores to buy small indoor plants, but I have noticed those stores don't carry a lot of different varieties and tend to limit their supply only for some of the popular ones we usually see in the neighbor's front yard. However, since becoming a plant person in 2020, I decided to turn my little office space into a garden and better feng shui as well. So I was SURPRISED to find this hidden gem in Claremont on our lazy Saturday afternoon stroll in the neighborhood. Once I stepped inside of the nursery, I was so excited that I explored every single corner of the nursery to make sure I did not miss anything they have to offer!!! I showed the owner a plant I have been searching everywhere for and she was like, oh yeah, its right here! this little one. I was then mesmerized... or tunnel visioned ... narrowed in on the plant itself. It was truly a happy moment for me. I can't wait to bring her home and be her best plant parent!

As I was shopping, two employees hovered closely and circled around me multiple times, fixating on my hands and arms without offering any assistance or even a shopping basket despite a few items in my hands that I was fully intending to purchase. I had my personal bag over my arm and was taking photos to share with my mom, who was also interested in purchasing items as well. Being scrutinized like this felt invasive and unsettling, especially when other shoppers in the store seemed to shop freely with their personal bags, totes, and strollers. When I questioned if there was an issue after circling around me not once, but 4 times, the 2 female employees acted confused, but their behavior was unmistakably targeted. Seeing that similar reviews from a year ago highlight the same issue, it is clear nothing has changed. This pattern of behavior feels like an enabling of racial profiling, which is deeply disappointing, particularly when the store is aiming to celebrate and promote culture through their World Cup merchandise and LA Dodger gear. As a Latina, I had simply hoped for a welcoming and appreciative shopping experience but left feeling upset and excluded. I hope this review encourages The Grove to reflect on their staff training and work towards creating a more inclusive environment for all customers. I don't mind waiting as they have many options. The real gems I found here are in the kitchen and dining section. They have some of the cutest kitchenware like strawberry themed jars, froggy glass cups, and sardine plates. For the matcha hobbyists, there are plenty of whisks and chawan bowls at reasonable prices. I've even scored two Hello Kitty cups from their clearance section. Found this little gem after my friends and I did our Saturday walk near the colleges…read more It was such a cute spot and I was drawn in by the succulents. As I bought 3 succulents and was heading out to leave, I saw something else I just had to have and a pot to go along with it. They were super kind and potted my new plant in its pot, gave me some fancy rocks, answered all my questions and really made me feel like a valued customer. My friends have decided that they are coming back and I will too. Awesome spot!
