I love Urban Nirvana and have been going here for years when I stay in Kiawah. They use super high end Keratase products and are extremely professional and friendly. Super Covid safe as well. One of their stylists Jenny Is incredible with color! You don't need to drive to Charleston to get a high end highlight or hair cut! read more

Woman working the front desk was incredibly rude. We were late because we were staying at their other location down the street, and there was no one there to advise us as to where to go. We were charged for our appointments and didn't get serviced. Then woman at the front desk had Long dark braids. Would not recommend giving business to a woman who treats customers like this. 2 stars because I left the salon unhappy and I expressed this to the stylist and to the receptionist. Even when I said I wasn't happy and wanted to schedule another appointment to get my hair fixed they found an appointment next week with the same stylist or a few days later with a different one. A salon should never allow a customer to leave unhappy or not seem to care. I disliked my hair so much I cried all afternoon, I had just had a baby and was so looking forward to self care. My stylist was very nice and easy to talk to however. read more

My bridesmaids and I got our hair and makeup done the day of my wedding here. My trial was scheduled for for a couple of days before. I was SO impressed with their professionalism and courtesy to us. The week of my wedding I called and added a bunch of appointments for aforementioned hair and makeup-- no problem, we'll schedule you. The day of my hair and makeup trial, I called and rescheduled 2 or 3 times (weddings make you late for everything)--- no problem, we'll have to squeeze hair in at the end but no problem. And then, the day of the wedding we essentially took over the majority of the salon. I got to know my hairstylist and my makeup artist, two really great ladies who were on board to create my retro vision. We finished just on time and were out the door with farewells and good wishes. Had my hair done here by Michelle the day of my cousin's wedding.They were totally booked except for an appointment only an hour before I needed to leave for the ceremony. Was worried I wouldn't get done in time, so went dressed with makeup done. Michelle did a fabulous job on my updo and had me out with time to spare -- even had a chance to do photos! Ran into lots of other women there attending the wedding as well and all were very happy with their hair. Staff is very nice and helpful. The updo held up nicely too, even with dancing, the weather and wind at the ocean, and a wardrobe change. Couldn't be happier! Thanks Michelle! read more

I came in to get my hair and makeup done for a wedding. I left looking worse than I did going in. The hair stylist didn't listen to me and barely did anything to my hair and charged me $40. The make up artist charged me another $40 and made me look like a drag queen. I had to immediately run to my hotel and redo my hair and makeup quickly before the wedding. Do not waste your money here! read more

While vacationing at The Sanctuary, my husband and young son stopped in to see if they could be accommodated for haircuts. Each received a basic hair cut, both satisfactory. Total for the two cuts was $98, not including tip. I was shocked to have been charged $49 for a young child's haircut. When I spoke with the front desk staff they stated that they had "no control" over the charges and called for the manager, who then stated that she had "no control" over the charges, she "could only do what she was told to do by the owners, and the salon had several locations, all owned by two women". I have no issue paying $49 for an adult male haircut (although this was higher than we recently paid in NYC), but I do take issue with being asked to pay this for a small child. I did not feel that we were treated fairly. As a business owner, I would not treat my customers this way, and I will avoid this salon on return trips to the area. read more
