Was given incorrect information about returning things when I called into the store last week and asked about the two specific things I'd purchased, one of which came ripped. I ended up lugging two big packages across town that they then told me they couldn't help me with at all, after I'd specifically clarified that they would take them. The women as the store were nice and apologetic but I'm now scrambling to figure out how to get away from work to return these items today before my return window closes. Very frustrated that an error on their end is now my problem, and if I don't figure it out today I'm out a lot of money. read more

Ah, the $59 store. Seriously, check the price tags. The merch skews young, the store is usually full of fad conscious teens & 20 somethings. Unlike other reviewers, I find the the inventory doesn't turn over rapidly, unless it's super popular, like a great bucket hat. There's a huge selection of jeans, beauty products, lounge wear, mini & maxi dresses, crop tops, swim suits, houseware, gift stuff, bags, & a selection of Doc Martens, Vans, & platform shoes. There a men's department in the basement, along with the checkout, small impulse items & major discount racks. If you go on their website they have pages & pages of shoes from different brands. The store has a locker for online order store pickup. They once sent back the hat I had on hold when I didn't pick it up in 3 days. No problem with orders paid in advance. When you see something online, don't assume it will be in the store. Anyway, I'm not the demographic, but I like the undergarments, sweaters, hats, & bags the most. I'm over the phase where I want to look like a fashion victim, therefore avoid the teeny tiny crop tops that look like doll clothes. Same for the oversized baggy balloon pants. One thing I'd tell my younger self is to enjoy your body while you're young, don't hide it, just be mindful that when you're pushing 35 you're gonna look ridiculous. Anyway, rant over. Urban Outfitters is a fun store, it might be fast fashion, but it's not cheap. read more

Overall, I like the location of this UO as it is conveniently located right off of Powell station. They have a large sale section (it's usually a little haphazardly messy, but that's to be expected with such a large sale section). The store itself is decently sized too, with 3-ish (one level is more of a mezzanine or mini-level) levels. I like that you can do in-store pickup so you don't need to pay for shipping. While the staff is generally pleasant and helpful, I have had trouble with locating staff to help (especially for simply picking up my online orders) and sometimes the checkout line can take a while (usually only 1 register open). But all these little "downsides" don't bother me much. Retail is hard work and especially so in a major city. If you like Urban Outfitters, I'd recommend this location. read more

Good UO store located in SF by Union Square. The staff were nice and helpful, albeit a few more to help out it do check out would be nice. Good selection and prices vary. Only thing is the area has become a bit unsafe feeling, right outside there was a group of people asking for money and one was aggressive. (SF in general has become sadly unsafe and kind of gross, sad because it used to be a beautiful city!) Other than the group outside, inside it's a normal UO, large with a large selection of clothes, accessories, shoes, silly tchotchkes and last time I was there, a nice vinyl records collection. read more

The Job application for sales associate must have had "have a hostile and off putting attitude that will scare off any potential customer" under the requirements. The employees have a bad attitude and act like they're being inconvenienced if you ask them a question. As for the "assistant manager" her primary role seems to be to assist the other employees in making sure the customers have such a bad experience that they never want to come back .The clothes and items here are adorable and that's the only reason the store gets an extra star. This place needs new management badly before the existing employees run it into the pits of hell. It's a race to the bottom here. Sadly. read more

Used to shop here when I was in college... then realized all my classmates wore all outfits from UO. After not being here for 2 years I decided to give it another try... Sales associate was RUDE. I went in before closing and wanted to buy more items but she kept pushing me off and telling me they are closing soon. I worked in retail for many many years and I know it's a struggle making sales goal. So I recommend for all the associates get "better" training. Nice store, well kept up and full of treasures to find! I mean you never know what you're going to find in an Urban Outfitters. And I like that vibe and surprise in a clothing store. It keeps you interested and intrigued with all the new things you find. I loved the random trinkets and spa day stuff they had too. I got a face mask and facial spray. My friend got a dress and shorts. They have so many designs, it's hard to pick just one. But they're perfect for summer! Lines move fast, cashiers are pleasant and security was very welcoming. Staying at the Axiom and this close to an Urban Outfitters is seriously dangerous for my wallet. Off Market street and the trolley lines it's easy to get too from union square. It's almost like five stories of endless clothing and accessories. I was surprised to see so many sale items in such a busy place but I scored to support cute tips for only $10 each... absolutely the most memorable part of my trip to San Francisco lol The store was well kept except on the basement floor the sale section but that's really be expected. Love this location of Urban Outfitters! I'm not a huge shopping fan, so it really caters to "other" category with a variety of books, stationary, and facial care areas to shop at. Also if you are tired, not recommended though, there is a bed at the bottom floor to sleep on, haha! The selection in this store is pretty big with 6 floors worth of clothes! It is on the pricier side though. However, I feel as if for a store this big there should be a bathroom, but they don't have one (at least for customer usage). I went in the store and was going to check out and was interrupted by the head manager screaming at the employees behind the register. I didn't understand what she was yelling about but her tone and choice of words were extremely unprofessional and rude. I decided afterwards I did not want to give money to support her management so I gave my items to the fitting rooms and left immediately. I hope they get a new manager soon because I love their items but frankly I can't support a manager that talks to their employees so harshly. read more

Really upsetting on how racist the staff was when proceeding to cashier today on the 4th floor my wife was the only one in line and purchasing one item. As we come up the lady, she tells us to use self checkout and that she wasn't able to help us and all we had was a small perfume. As we are purchasing at the self checkout kiosk the lady who didn't want to assist us had taken someone of her ethnic background that was purchasing earrings and had them pay at her register. It's very upsetting but this is the world we live in I suppose lol to pick and choose who we wish to serve! Maybe it's because my wife wears a headscarf or she just only serves her kind "who knows". read more

I went in today and a girl with black hair in braids came to help me out. She started out super nice, but then when I asked her follow up questions, she scoffed at me and turned away. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to follow her or not, but then when I did she whipped around and said "Can I help you?" I wanted to try some clothes so I went to the fitting room. I didn't see any attendants but the rooms were open so I just went into one of the fitting rooms. 10 minutes passed and some employee rudely knocks on the door and says with so much attitude that "changing rooms are closed!" Maybe you should have closed off the fitting room area or put up a sign that said so. Never had such an unpleasant experience in a damn changing room. read more

The employee who was checking me out proceeded to laugh with their co-worker openly making fun of the bag and saying "why does urban outfitters make these? Who would buy this? I want everything. Everything. Everything. In this store. I forgot how what's up Urban Outfitters is. I forgot that they have an acute understanding of everything I adore when it comes to furnishing places, everything hippie, and just everything what's up. Ah. It was so hard not to purchase everything in this store - when I popped in today. They even now carry some of my favorite all natural facial/cosmetic brands including: Fat and the Moon (though unfortunately they keep them right by the front register and without any sealing - so literally every single pot of their lip and cheek stain has dirty finger marks in them - boooo), and Herbivore Botanicals - and much much more. I only meant to browse - but I ended up walking out of here with a pricey fringed vest, some cheaply made aviators, and some wondrous indulgent beauty products. Yes - Urban Outfitters can induce eye rolls from many - but they understand and get changing fashion so beautifully. They understand local and pop culture too well - and though their prices and quality are sometimes lacking - I - and my wallet - have to admit - that UO know's what's up. Trust. read more

I was in town from Lake Tahoe only for a couple of days so decided to bring some stuff from an online order in to return. Drove all the way to union square and dealt with the nightmare of parking with all the construction going on. The entire building is boarded up, but they have at least 5 signs that say "we're open!" around the building but the doors are locked?? It says they're open on the urban outfitters website and on yelp but they're not. I even tried calling and no answer. So annoying, waste of time read more

I've always loved Urban Outfitters. The clothing isn't necessarily my style, though every so often I'll find something I like. My legs aren't as skinny as the men's jeans they sell, generally... But when you hit gold, it's really golden. And cheap. Every so often I'll find $20 sneakers, a $15 messenger bag, or a $10 shirt that were originally like $100, and those days make me happy. Also, the clever books and gifts upstairs by the front doors are always amazing gifts, good for a laugh. Someday I'll have a dozen of them strewn about my apartment as coffee table reading. Friendly greeters at the door, a chill vibe, fun merchandise, and a great location for this one. Good times, good times. read more

I had the best experience coming here. Yes, it was amidst the craziness that is Union Square. Yes, clothes were all over the floor in the sale section. But need I repeat that it is the sale section. Chaos is synonymous with this part of the store. Regardless, I came out with everything I wanted and more. The mission: a new bathing suit for Hawaii. The challenge: one that fits my body now and one that doesn't cost me a pretty penny. I walked in hopeful. I came out happy. All thanks to the nicest, most patient sales lady, Jasmine. She was able to exchange my bottoms for a smaller size and go through different colors of bikini tops with me to let me choose which one works best with the black bottoms I chose. I found the perfect bikini top to go along with my bottoms! I was ecstatic-- all in part from the excellent customer service from Jasmine. She was friendly and helpful. Most of all, she just made sure I got what I wanted calling the emeryville store for available sizes and allowing me to check the floor for any ones I liked. She was just amazing! I found the perfect swimsuit for my body sent directly to my apartment (free shipping) and for the best price! Normally, they're each $42 (I know, ridiculous) but because they were on sale, I got them for $10 each! One of the best shopping trips I've experienced in awhile. Update! The one star is for the annoying girl who was trying to help her clueless boyfriend pick out a scarf next to me. He was standing there like a lump while she was trying desperately to be hip and failing, holding up a scarf to his neck over and over, repeating, "I dunno, I think you could 'rock' it. But you gotta rock it. Hmm...yeah. I think you could rock it." I wanted to slap her and ask if she was trying out a new expression to make it stick, but instead I just set down the rug I was going to buy and walked out in a tizzy. Coming from Hawaii, we didn't have one (until the past year). So every time I came to SF, I would indulge in shopping here. I have never been disappointed. They always have a large selection of items on sale and i am always able to leave with something. I have dropped from $30-$750 in a day at this location. I love this store. Compared to there UO that I have been too, this is by far the best one yet. It is large, large selections, great service, lots of fitting rooms and SALES SALES SALES!!!!!! I'm used to other Urban Outfitters that are 2 levels. Technically this one is 3.5 levels, but with all the stairs it feels more like 5 to 6 levels!!! I'm not used to all that climbing. With each of the levels, I didn't quite feel any organization. I thought there was just too much stuff everywhere and it was difficult to look for things, especially the stuff on sale. My eyes just kinda when like O_O the whole time!! My main complaint is that there are too many stairs =\ but I guess they can't do anything because it's in the city! read more

Actually, I'd give it 3.5 stars. I went here today and love how there are 3 floors.. actually I'd say 2.5 because on the 2nd floor there's only a little bit of items on one side. Anyways, I highly recommend that you dress in layers when you go here because it seems like the heater was up to 80 degrees. It was torture. I like how there are many selections to choose from although some...no ... all of the cotton tshirts aren't worth nearly 30 bucks but I got suckered into buying it because I love pink...and I like hearts. As far as UOs go - it's pretty standard. The staff were reasonably helpful and friendly and the store is well organised. There are however clothes on the mannequins that aren't for sale (SO ANNOYING?!?) and the variety of stock isn't as great as I'd hope for. The beauty section is great though. read more

I guess this is one of the larger Urbans around the area, definitely bigger than Santana Row with five stories of 'stuff' that is somewhat organized at least per floor wise. You enter into the main floor which has lots of books, accessories and trinklets. The upstairs area (both) are womens and downstairs (both) are mens. They have HUGE enormous sales, and personally I found the sales racks to be a little overwhelming ... there are about 120471204712 people trying to dig through them at the same time. It's very poorly organized and there is clothes all over the floor. Urban is a place where shopping is a unique thing per person ... they have such a huge variety of styles that some thing that completely appeals to one person might be EWWWW to someone else. I feel like they should organize it better so if it is all dresses ... it should be all dresses! This place is definitely overwhelming at the least, so if you have a few hours to browse and are ready to tackle the piles of mess ... this is the urban for you! read more

Urban Outfitters is a great store for stocking stuffers! There are very cute, random items here: Kidrobot, charms for earphone jacks, piggy banks, jewelry holders, and squirrel underpants.....? But I never shopped at UO for their clothes until recently. I browsed the website and found some cute tops on sale for less than $20 each. Shipping was free for orders over $50, and I received my items within one week. And apparently, the deliverer thought the package was small enough to stuff into my mailbox rather than leave at the door. But when I tried on my new clothes, I was very disappointed with the quality. It's absolutely crap! Some of the material is very thin and already showed signs of wear (ie: fuzziness around elbows, aka "pills", and areas with a lot of friction) before the first wash! I even received a defective item and immediately returned it in store. At least UO has a good return policy. There's absolutely no organization to the women's sale section in store. It's cramped and clothes and shoes are always scattered across the floor. You need patience and time to do some digging to find anything decent. I have mixed feelings about the staff; sometimes they seem very annoyed to help customers, but other times they're pretty friendly. I felt sorry for the cashier that helped me today, when I needed to do an online return, exchange, and purchase all in one transaction. But, he didn't make a big fuss about it! :) read more

One star for the dressing room lady. Five stars for the location and stock, averaging to a three. The dressing room girl was actually annoyed that I came in and out with different clothes, its not my fault Urban has funky sizing and you literally have to try things on or else you'd have no way of knowing if it fits right. There was also no one to get you a different size while you were in the dressing room, so she told me I could just go around the store in the clothes I was trying on to get more clothes...hah um alright. The stock is pretty extensive, not as big as I've seen at some others I've been too in Hollywood and Orange County, but still pretty presentable. There are a few employees who were very happy to check the back for sizes, so, maybe it's just the one bad seed. read more

I was wondering why I see so many like-minded youths wearing Fjallraven Kanken backpacks in San Francisco when it is a product once upon a time only available in Sweden. Albeit it is an environmentally responsible Swedish company deserving our support, I began to wonder if Sweden has become the new trendy place for American youths to flock... until I found such backpack sold here! More trendy items popular with todays youths is the FCUK clothing line which you find here. This is a great store to buy gifts for teenagers: though items are expensive, they are trendy and your young adults will find you cool for buying such trendy gifts :)))) read more

We went into your store a few days ago and was taken aback by the unprofessionalism of some of your employees. There was no acknowledgment at the door, associates walking around like they could care less about their job and witnessing two employees exchanging inappropriate language near the entrance as customers came in. If this is how you train your employees than it is really sad. Urban Outfitters has a good reputation and my daughter loves shopping with your company. But to encounter this was not expected.
