    Paneer Dilruba

I live in NY and I wanted to eat some great Indian food in NJ. I checked this place out seeing all the viral videos in Instagram and hoping we would have a great food and ambiance. Food taste was just ok and the quantity was not good per price point. They had Valentine's week celebration. We ordered 1 mango lassi for $9( cheap restaurant depot lassi), paneer tikka (4 piece of paneer) for $25 , jhangeer chicken( ok) and paneer dilruba ( good) , Lachha paratha and naan( cold and not great). The bill was $125. Service and ambiance were also not great. They added automatic gratuity of $13.75 for 2 adults and 1 kid. Food presentation and paneer dilruba was good.

The food was the star of show . Stellar service by Bindu , Pradeep and the entire staff was a close second , followed by the lovely dim lit ambiance. Every dish surpassed our expectations in its flavors, presentation and blend of spices . They left no stone unturned in getting the menu description delivered. Bhindi masala the most underrated curry a highlight in todays meal . The okra was cooked al dente with light spices , where you could taste the vegetable . It was unlike most restaurants where it's doused in an amped up spicy curry . Dhabha Chicken and Paneer Pasanda ( creamy cashew rich) were winners all the way . Pepper panner , Paneer tikka and Jehangir Chicken kabab were soft and lip smacking delicious . Lamb chops had a good spice coating , but was a bit chewy , maybe a tad overcooked. Paneer Biriyani had fluffy rice and spice coated paneer pieces cooked typical Hyderabadi style, Desserts were not appealing to me . Mango kulfi was the only saving grace. Mango fried ice had some syrup and desiccated coconut like topping which didn't blend in with the ice cream flavor . Double ka meetha wasn't the traditional kind . It had small pieces of fried bread dunked in rasmalai topped with nuts , which didn't offer the perfect chewy , gooey bite that I was looking for . This place is still a winner given everything else was outstanding. It is a fine dining kind of place and is priced that way too . Enjoy a lovely evening meal with family &!friends and bring along a beverage of your choice as they are a BYOB place .

Was going to North Brunswick area and googled this restaurant.. was looking for some quick Indian snack/tea/ dinner and went to this restaurant... had good reviews .. location was a bit wierd . Was tough to find this place. Was next to apna bazaar ... from outside it looked average but the interiors was super awesome . Nice ambience . Lots of parking outside .. Service could be better .. took them 10 mins to serve us water and take the order . Welcome drink was interesting !! Was reallyyyyy good . Chai was good too. Veg manchow soup was spectacular.. been a while since I had an authentic manchow soup.. cutlet and few other stuff were also good . Price wise it was slightly expensive than all other restaurants around . Biryani costs 20-30$ !! Overall a good ambience and good experience. Need to go back and try few other stuff . 4 stars !

I cannot say anything about eating in this restaurant...I only used the catering services. They were amazing to work with! We discussed the menu and everything over text, as I was coming from out of town. Chetan even helped figure out where to put the buffet, as we were very tight on space. In the end, we didn't have space for the more elaborate fancy serving dishes, but everything did fit when the aluminum tins were used. Each dish was labeled beautifully. We had people with different dietary issues, so everything needed to be labeled. Dairy free, gluten free, meat/vegetarian, etc. They came and set everything up and picked up the next day. We didn't need any servers. The staff that came to set up were so nice. I would definitely use them again and can't wait to dine in the restaurant when we return in the summer!

Pros- -Ambiance is nice -location is convenient and plenty of parking Cons- -Food is average. Mostly milder with less spices and less salt. There were 2-3 tiny stones in a curry. -Expensive for average taste -Service can be improved

Upon entry, it looks a typical sit down restaurant; plenty of seating, side booths, and just enough lighting. The service was wonderful as I came in with a small group, approximately seven people including me. I would say that I would have liked it better if all of our orders were served at the simultaneously rather than have it served once the dish was ready. Here's what I ordered: -Mysore Masala Dosa -A much larger size than what I usually have. This savory crepe was folded in a triangular crepe-like shape rather than the traditional omelette kind. The filling was cooked well and once I dipped it in the sambar and chutneys, my taste buds were attacked by various flavors and spices. Individually, the dosa was decent and the sambar could have used a little more spice. I would have rather enjoyed more if they were also good by themselves and not in combination. -Spring Dosa -This was probably the least favorite thing I ordered. Presentation-wise, this looks they quickly sautéed some veggies and then rolled into the dosa. Alone, it was a little bland, so I had to constantly dip it into the sambar to get some taste. -Kadai Panner -Judging by the fact that it's called "Dosa Grill," I suspected that this dish would lean into more on the underwhelming side. Not sure how they made the gravy, but to me it felt more tomato forward than what was described on the menu. -Paneer Mysore Dosa -This was probably one of the best dosas I had. The paneer absorbed the masala so well that I could taste it from every bite I had. This was the only dish where I could say that the dosa itself tasted fantastic and I did not have to combine it with the sambar, which I a totally different experience itself. -Onion Chilli Utthapam -This is something I am very well familiar with growing up, so I wanted to see how they do. Knowing the base ingredients are similar to how one would make dosas, I figured it should hold up on the same bar. Much like the spring dosa, the experience with utthapam was better if it was eaten along side the sambar. By itself, all I tasted was onions and chilli and much else. I would have liked a little more spice in my opinion. Overall, I had a good time at Dosa Grill. If I had to pick one note, it would probably be not to hold back on the spices.

Too dry Puri bhaji 4/5 loved the bhaji (salt was less) the puri was okay. The Shrikhand was quite good Bhel Puri 3/5 was alright - nothing stood out positively or negatively about it. You could skip it. Pani Puri 2/5 - don't order it. You'll be disappointed if you did :/ Overall, I'd recommend going there if it has been a long time since you had Marathi food and are just craving it. It could be that this place is better for Malvani seafood and meat-based dishes but nothing extraordinary about the vegetarian food. Service was good and the place is tidy. Restrooms separate for male and female - maintained well. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza so plenty of free parking in the lot outside.
