The bowl with all toppings.

I decided to eat here this evening and what a surprise. The food was fresh and delicious. I had the bowl with Birria. Best birria I have had before so tender it just fell apart. It came with a large portion of warm cheese dip. They have a fresh salsa and sauce bar. I tried them all, they have an orange sauce that is spicy but great. The bowl came with chick peas, lettuce, pico, corn, beets, rice and beans. It was a great size. The inside is very clean and modern and they play fun music. You must give this place a try.

Pretty much just street tacos. I've had worse, but I've also had better. Nice enough looking place, but the tap water was terrible.

Ambiance isn't at the top of my list, but I rate The Patron highly in this regard. Too many…read moreMexican restaurants rely on tacky decor to sell the product. The Patron doesn't. From the moment we walke in, we recognized it for a warm, friendly, welcoming place. Our server was prompt and attentive, and while the food may not have been highly flavored, it was not bland as some other reviewers suggest. They should stick with Taco Bell if they think The Patron was poor. We each ordered burritos: mine was the carnitas. Unlike some places, it was filled with nothing but meat. Many places I've been to cram beans and rice into a burrito, and skimp on the meat. Eating here is as close to a religious experience as dining can get.

Food: If you're looking for decent tex-mex, then this place will get the job done. I can't complain…read moreabout chips and salsa, and if you like spicy, ask for the spicy salsa, which is not that spicy, but at least a little more heat than the regular one. I ordered the steak fajitas and the meat was tough and overdone. I also felt like they were not very generous with the sour cream and guac. It was unusual that I got slices of tomato instead of pico de gallo. Others seemed pretty content with their meals. Service/Ambiance: I was pleasantly surprised that our server allowed our group of 20+ to do separate checks. We were also seated in a separate area so it was only our group in the room, which was nice, otherwise the restaurant itself can get quite loud. Unfortunately, we ran into some issues with our orders, extra tortillas were missed, and they brought out beef burritos instead of bean burritos for one of the orders. Would I come again? Only if I had a large group since the side room was nice, otherwise, I'd probably check out another place in the area.

We arrived on Thursday night around 8 pm, and the parking was hit or miss. I had to circle the…read moreblock to find a spot, but it was pretty close once I did. I noticed the ice cream/yogurt spot nearby was hopping. There was a person asking for change outside the front door. We were greeted by an enthusiastic host and seated immediately at a booth up front. The server came by within seconds and brought us water and place settings. We decided to get the chips and salsa for an appetizer and a pair of melting chimichangas for entrees. I can't resist some chorizo and steak. My partner got the chimichanga without chorizo and with chicken. The ambiance was colorful with beautifully painted murals on each wall, and the atmosphere was undeniably loud. There were lots of patrons. The place was packed, even at the bar, so your mileage may vary. We received our orders within minutes of each other, so there wasn't much of a wait time. The chips and salsa were homemade, fresh, warm, and delicious (muy rico). Same for the entrees; exactly what I want in a Mexican food restaurant. The chorizo and steak were well-cooked, seasoned, and chopped finely, but not ground. I was in heaven with that chimichanga. We had to take home leftovers. The next night, heated in the oven at 325 for 30 minutes, they were similarly excellent. The night ended without dessert, sadly (too full). However, the server was quick and efficient, and he was always around to fill water and bring anything we needed throughout the meal. Great experience overall. We will definitely return here whenever we have a hankering for some good Mexican food at reasonable prices. I can recommend this place to anyone who appreciates hearty and filling Mexican food.

The ambiance can be described as eclectic and casual. It's great for big groups and relaxed lunches. There's a variety of menu options for food and drink. Our server was nice, but she didn't really answer our questions about the menu or substitutions, which was a little inconvenient. Also, we kept having to ask for utensils and napkins, which made our food get a bit cold. The pineapple habanero margarita tasted like spicy pineapple juice and was pretty expensive. It was pretty, but not worth the money. The food also was really average, but the portion sizes were good for sharing. The huitlacoche tacos were a little bland and soggy, the chicken chipotle tacos had a good sauce but were also soggy and the fajitas did not have enough seasoning. Not a restaurant that I would come back to, but I liked it's proximity to other dessert places nearby.
