I stopped by Urbana to do some work during that unproductive stretch of time between Christmas and New Years. My cappuccino was well done, and my boyfriend enjoyed his blueberry muffin. I was considering visiting this Cafe after an appointment I had in the area, however, when I walked in, since it was my first time in this area and I was having trouble finding my way around, I asked one of the girls working for directions and she rolled her eyes and gave me a dirty look. This place is cute! I love that they encourage "In person interaction." They have a sign that mentions that they don't have wifi for the sole purpose for people to have community with one another. I totally thought I had a picture of that, but unfortunately, I took the snapshot in my head : ) I went there actually looking for a particular baker that sells her items at their location. But I had heard great things about their place anyways, so it was a 2 for 2! They had a "snickers" bar (dairy free gluten free) made by Laura Healthy Delights which was mmmmm so good. And then I also had a vanilla latte that was also quite delicious. The location had several cozy sitting areas that continued to extend way to the back. They also have an outdoor patio area as well! One suggestion I would make is to have a list of the ingredients on hand for the staff to refer to when it comes to any of the baked goods. Adorable coffee shop and delicious bites to eat! We came in to catch up and work on our 2021 goals. We loved the big and spacious table space and the beautifully done cups of coffee. The staff was incredibly friendly and this space is taking COVID precautions very seriously. I saw them frequently wiping tables down and the space was already fresh and clean to begin with. Urbana Cafe began as a mobile blue Vespa Apé at Findlay Market but has since expanded to two brick-and-mortar locations. The owner/founder had converted this truck into a mobile espresso cafe in 2013, showing up at farmers markets and festivals around the city to serve coffee, espresso drinks, pastries, etc. Our visit took us to the Pendleton location, which opened in December 2015. It's located in the heart of the Broadway Square next to Nation Kitchen + Bar. It claims a bit of an Italian flare and offers a cute, rustic modern interior with an urban coffee shop vibe. Seating seemed a bit limited inside. The staff were quite helpful, offering info on the various pastries available and answering my husband's questions about the different varieties of coffee available. They even offered him a sample of one he was curious about, which sealed his decision. I inquired about which pastries were made in house, and I ended up trying the lemon bread. It was moist with poppy seeds and a flavorful, crunchy crust. My husband made a much better decision by ordering the pear tart. This was reminiscent of an authentic French pastry - which is a really good thing considering we were told it was dropped off by a French baker that morning! The crust on this tart was incredible - flaky, buttery - and the overall taste was light and satisfying. Regardless of the pastry quality, we were there for the coffee, and I absolutely loved my caramel latte. It was so smooth with a light sweetness and no bitterness. My husband ended up with the Smooth Nitro, a cold brew coffee with almond milk. He loved it. It was creamy and had good, strong coffee flavor without the usual bitterness Verdict: We loved their coffee. It is so smooth and not bitter. And that pear tart...just as good as something you could pick up on the streets of Paris. read more

Urbana is a nice place to meet up with a friend and grab some coffee. My favorite drink is their iced caramel latte, as featured in the picture I attached. I was feeling adventurous one day so I decided to try a matcha covered croissant. While I was impressed with the unique variety of pastries at Urbana, I was not a fan of the matcha covered croissant. Side note for dog lovers: This place is dog friendly!! They even sell dog cookies which my super picky dog actually ate!! It's also good to note that they have outdoor seating which they share with the restaurant right next door. It's a cool place to sit if the weather is nice. We didn't intend on dining in, so it was perfectly fine that the cafe wasn't full of highchairs. At the counter was a very sweet, soft spoken lady who kindly welcomed us first timers. We learned a new lesson that the known Starbucks Macchiato is indeed not a traditional macchiato. What you think is a Mach is actually a latte. I went with the traditional Mach and my fiancé went with a Caramel Latte. Home runs on both. I love the charm of this building, inside and out. The best drinks here are #1 flat white, and #2 cortado. You also can't go wrong with an americano or iced coffee. (You really can't go wrong with any of the drinks but if you haven't tried the flat white you're doing yourself a disservice). Pre-covid, I loved coming in here to read. There is no wifi which is weirdly part of this cafe's charm. There's also an outdoor patio area, so you're sure to see a lot of cute dogs. If you're in East Walnut Hills, stop by this gem. read more

Finally I got to try Urbana. I have heard of them and finally I noticed I missed a Yelp event here so I knew I had to try them after that. I came in on a Thursday morning with both of my daughters. The atmosphere was chill and laid back. It had typically coffee shop vibe with people chatting and on laptops. I realized after entering this is probably more for adults but my girls did very well (3 yr-old and a 5 mon-old.). Megan who was working this day was super sweet and accommodating. However, my only complaint is they allow dogs in the establishment. I get it but I'm not a dog lover and this was a slight turn off for me. I'm not a big fan of establishments that allow people to bring their dogs in, especially when it's a food establishment. Not everyone is clean, especially when it comes to animals. I came in to try their Orange Chocolate Chip Scones. While I was there I also grabbed a coffee drink and breakfast sandwich. The scones were a little on the dry/crunchy side. I love anything chocolate chip so I was happy with the flavor. The texture was just dry and a little to crumbly. The glaze was also suppose to be orange, however I could not taste any orange flavor. However, The breakfast sandwich was actually good in flavor. It was also the perfect size. It was a mini breakfast sandwich. It was the perfect size for my 3-yr old daughter. It consisted of a homemade cheddar and chive biscuit, white cheddar, pesto, egg, and a sausage patty. It was delicious. The pesto added a different flavor but it was a nice addition. I liked this! I ordered my daughter's without the pesto. The drink I had was their current seasonal drink which is Orange Spiced Flat White. It was interesting, and ultimately I did not like it. It wasn't as bad when I put sugar in it. It's whatever a flat is and a pinch of orange juice added. However, it had a weird tang. I'm assuming it was the OJ. Idk, it wasn't my favorite and I wouldn't order it again. I also ordered a brownie/cookie mix aka brookie to go for my husband. Needless, to say it was not good. It tasted like almond flour was used and it gave it an odd taste. Although, I did hear they try to reduce the amount of sugar they use and do healthier desserts. This was a no for me dog (in my Randy from American Idol voice). However if your someone who explores with different flours, this may be for you. Overall, Urbana had great customer service and a good breakfast sandwich. However, I wasn't completely impressed with the coffee and pastries. read more
