Another lovely little coffee shop over in the Walnut Hills area! I stopped here after running some errands the other day, and was excited to see that they had later hours compared to some other places. I walked into a small, cozy space that would be perfect for getting work done while drinking a delicious cup of coffee, and I made a mental note of this for next time when I come back. The space was definitely smaller, but I think it really added to the comfortable vibe the shop gave off overall. There was a lot of open space with large windows overlooking the street, with a lot of neutral colors inside. I ordered an iced caramel latte with oat milk, which is one of my go-to coffee drinks. When I got my iced latte, I appreciated the fact that they use strawless lids as a way to be more earth-friendly. My latte had just the right amount of sweetness without overwhelming the coffee taste, which is what I personally prefer. The two baristas working when I walked in were very friendly and were chatting away. The other customers in the store were also sitting around the tables with friends talking and getting work done. Parking wise, there is street parking, but I didn't have any trouble finding a spot when I went, as there are plenty of side streets nearby. I will definitely be back! Stopped in this place while out for a walk and really enjoyed it. Cute ambiance and even with the carryout policy they were fast and friendly. Lots of cool choices and I'll be heading back soon to try the "Tiger King Tea". Really enjoyed the dirty chai, it wasn't too sweet as some places can be. Also like that they have almond, oat and soy milk options. I would give them 5 stars, but they're a strawless restaurant and while I appreciate the love for the planet, in the midst of Corona I'd rather have a wrapped straw than a lid that's been touched. My older sis suggested this place since she loves it! It was close to 2pm on a Wednesday and there was one guy sitting at a table and a lady who walked in with her dog. It's nice to see coffee shops that allow pets. It's an open space and since it was warm out, they had their front door open. I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk and a tomato, basil, and feta scone. It was all so good! They don't have a ton of tables in here but since it was not busy, I sat at one of the tables while waiting for my drink. The baristas were nice! They had some great suggestions about the food. Definitely my favorite neighborhood coffee shop. Not only is their coffee delicious (and the baristas impeccably skilled artists) their business model focuses on environmental sustainability and social justice. The atmosphere is relaxed with comfy chairs and an eclectic mix of background music that defies the stereotype of general bland coffee shop twaddle. The decor is a funky kind of vintage-mod vibe. They also introduced me to the wonder that is quark (a tangy, creamy, German cheese with a texture kind of like a dry ricotta) spread on toasted sourdough. In my own quark experiments at home (they source theirs from Urban Stead Cheese just up the street, which is the only legitimate source for authentic quark) I discovered it is even more delicious mixed with avocado and they will accommodate that if you request it. This is the wonderful experience I long for when walking into a coffee shop. Baristas with smiling faces, who welcome you when you walk in and genuinely look happy to make your drink. I've been here 5 times and the service has been wonderful each time. I love my vanilla and caramel lattes with oat milk. Their coffee is not only delicious, but they also add the perfect coffee/milk ratio. Their coffee is not overly sweet like some other shops, but still have a prominent vanilla or caramel flavor (if I ask it to be flavored). Honestly, the best latte in Cincinnati. I LOVE this place and am so happy they opened up this location in East Walnut Hills. You must try their coffee. They also offer yummy homemade baked items that THEY MAKE! Yes, they make their own pastries and sometimes sell pastries from external bakers as well. Definitely try one of their scones soon or a donut from Starlight Doughnuts (look up their instagram to see when they are selling them at this location). And the best of all... THEY ARE DOG FRIENDLY. They were very excited to see my little pup Boba and they even gave him a delicious cute-looking dog bone. Overall this is a great experience and I really love this location. Keep it up guys! I've lived in East Walnut Hills for multiple years now. It's nice to have a coffee shop nearby. However, this particular coffee shop is mediocre. I don't say this lightly because I've been multiple times over the years and have been disappointed each time. You might ask why I've returned if I don't like it. Your guess is as good as mine. I honestly think so much time passes between visits that I forget that I dislike this cafe. The drip coffee is watery. There were flies/gnats all over the self-service cream. The iced chai is from a carton that you can easily buy at the grocery store. The kicker though is that they do not have public wifi. I mean some people go to coffee shops for carry out or to socialize but a large portion of folks want a semi-quiet work space that provides a change of scenery. This is what I was after. Unfortunately, Urbana was a disappointment. I can think of two other, nearby, local options with better coffee and public WiFi. So disappointing. Unfortunately, I can't see myself returning. It's just not worth it. I'll give an extra star because they do sell coffee beans that one can purchase and brew at home, which is a nice touch. read more

It's true - there's no WiFi. However, unlike Coffee Emporium, Urbana Woodburn doesn't claim to offer a service that doesn't work. You just bring your personal hotspot and the problem is solved. Knowing there's no internet here, there's also a huge upside to sit in and study: free side street parking and bottomless Urbana coffee! I know it's almost sickeningly trendy: but they have a box of records from which you can pick some soft music for listening. It's so cool! There're 4 window bar seats which look out onto Woodburn, 3 tables with 4 seats each, and a pair of lounge chairs: plenty of space to sip coffee and read. The aesthetic of Urbana cannot be cuter - clean lines, good use of the historic building, and of course the signature blue cups. If you have the capacity to provide your own internet it's one of the best places in Cincinnati to test the limits of bottomless coffee. read more

A new location from the same Urbana Café that started at Findlay Market and then expanded into their two-level spot in Pendleton. The East Walnut Hills spot serves the same menu as Pendleton, including a couple breakfast sandwiches. The banana bread is still super good. I'm looking forward to trying their breakfast sandwich as well. The space here feels maybe twice as big as Pendleton, and the aesthetic is very lively, open, and bright. It seats about 20 people. They're serving a flat white now too, inspired by journeys exploring the coffee scene across New Zealand. read more

The quality of the coffee and food got this up from a 2 star rating. I want it to be 4/5 stars based on aesthetic and flavor, but they don't have wifi. I would even be fine with the lack of workability, but there is no warning of the lack of wifi. Here is my story: My car was in the shop around the corner, and I am able to work remotely. I have wanted to try this coffee shop since I saw it was going in awhile ago. I walk in with my bags and chat with the barista, letting her know I plan to be there working on my laptop most of the day. I ordered some breakfast and a bottomless cup of coffee. There were a couple other people on laptops, at least one of whom I could see was using the internet, so I sat at an open table and get everything set up. Once I get everything arranged and plugged in, I asked the barista what the wifi password is only to be told "we don't have wifi. You can go to our other location in Pendelton." So without a car and needing to get work done, I downed my breakfast and first round of coffee and walked a couple blocks down to a different coffee shop to get work done. I'm sure this place is great to get coffee on the go or catch up with an old friend, but I think there should be obvious signage about not having wifi. At the very least, the barista could have mentioned it when I said I would be there working all day. In a gig economy where many people (including myself) don't have offices, a coffee shop without WiFi is pretty useless to me. read more

I saw muffins, scones, and thing I didn't know you existed. They also have a few unique cold drinks that I couldn't pronounce, but looked very intriguing to taste. I love finding new coffee shops, and when I saw Urbana's menu i knew I had to give it a try. Needless to say Urbana is now one of my top coffee places to go to. Their coffee is delicious! we ordered the Shake rato Café, the Frizzado café and a slice of poppy seeds cake. Everything was simply amazing, both coffees were very rich and tasty, also the the presentation of both drinks made it appealing, lastly, the cake was on point. Furthermore, the actual place is charming, is not big but the way the decor is set up makes it seem spacious and that in my opinion invites costumers to be able to just seat and chat over coffee, you don't feel rush like in most coffee places. I would definitely recommend it and I plan to go back to try different items on the menu, also after reading other reviews I'm now intrigued to go to their other location in OTR so I can see the difference myself. read more

My first experience with Urbana was at their Pendleton location and I was stoked to find out they were opening a location in my backyard! I've been here a couple of times and the food and drinks were as great as the service. The iced caramel latte has been my go to. I also have tried the pistachio chocolate croissant and ham and cheese croissant. Yum! They aren't super filling so you might as well try both :). And you can ask them to heat it up. They also have bagels, pastries, and some breakfast sandwiches. All locally made! The set up is adorable! It's quaint but not cramped, bright, and clean. There are some four person tables, a couple comfy chairs, and window seats. And you can bring your dog in! So I'll definitely be taking a morning walk here with my pup. read more

Coming from a major coffee city (Portland, OR) with a sister running one of the most lauded coffee companies in the country, expectations can sometimes run high but Urbana does a pretty solid job. Since I moved into the city, I've probably been here about once a week and have tried almost everything available, including their seasonal creations. The coffee is consistently good (be it in a drip, latte, or otherwise). However, I wish that the chai had a little more punch - they would do well to carry something like the Tanglewood ginger chai - shops that use it always win me over and it would be a great way to stand out from others in town without only relying on sweetness or powdered spices. The flat white is pretty good too - I'm glad that they carry and can make one properly, I only wish that the serving size on it was a little larger. Oh, and they love dogs too. I was very happy with the atmosphere here and I will definitely be coming back. It was not the best coffee I have ever had. I got a drip coffee and one of the coffees that they had there was delicious but the other had a very weird aftertaste in my opinion. I got the ham and cheese croissant and I was very pleased with how flakey and flavorful the pastry was. The ham is rolled up in the center of the croissant with the cheese in the center of the ham, making it so that every bite doesn't necessarily have the ham and cheese but it is still delicious. I came here to get a bit of work done and I use my mobile hotspot everywhere so the no wifi was not a massive deal to me. There is not a ton of seating inside so I was a bit worried to find a spot when I walked in but luckily a group left when I got my cup of coffee so I took their spot. read more
