The owner is unbelievable horrible at communication. I spent weeks trying to get a hold of her to set up day of timeline, and only heard back from her after messaging her on instagram a week before the wedding, coincidentally when final payment is due. During our trial, she said "ha, I'm always late, but it seems to work out" No kidding, we agreed on 8am start, she showed up at 922. Her second artist, her brother, showed up closer to 8, and was amazing, no complaint with him. I do not see how someone runs a business without answering any texts or emails. She posts on instagram all the time, so that's probably the best way to find her even after you are a paying client. There's a number on the website but even when you call it, it basically says they don't answer phones. It got to the point without any communication, my bridesmaids all brought their hair and makeup supplies because we weren't even sure Urbanista would show up at all. Not great vibes to an already stressful day. We would have rebooked and lost the deposit, but hard to find makeup artist less than 2 months before event. Would not recommend, added so much extra stress. They get 2 stars instead of 1, because her brother was amazing, and people did compliment on my makeup (which he did). read more

Please do not book this company for your wedding. It's taken me a few months to write this due to the overwhelming stress Hannah and her company caused on and leading up to my wedding. I booked Urbanista weddings back in Feb 2022 for my May 2023 wedding. At first Hannah was very attentive and personable, helping me with look ideas and booking. When I originally reached out to Hannah I was inquiring for May 13 2023 but finding out that was Mother's Day weekend we decided to move our wedding to May 20 2023. My contract was signed for May 20 2023. After signing the contract it was near impossible to get a hold of Hannah, schedule a trial, update the contract or get a timeline. Three weeks before the wedding on 4/27 I reached out to Hannah to set up a timeline for the day of my wedding. I heard back from Hannah's assistant and said that they would get back to me when they were back in town. I then followed back with them once they were back in town on 5/3, her assistant got back to me right away around confusion on the dates stating my contract and profile were scheduled for 5/13. Hearing this 17 days before the wedding put me in a spiral. I immediately wrote back to her assistant asking for more information and that the contract I have is for 5/20. I followed up 2 hours later after getting no response to see if anyone could get back to me. I followed up again 4 hours later after not hearing back from anyone asking for someone to please write me back and let me know what is happening. Having no response on if I was going to have a makeup artist for my wedding only got me more worried about what was happening and had me feeling like I had been ghosted by Hannah. Finally I received a phone call from Hannah 8 hours later. It was late so I called her back in the morning. We spoke on the phone and she apologized for the confusion, let me know it was a booking error by her previous assistant. She said she did have the date wrong and that they had the 13th booked for me instead of the 20th. She tried to reassure me that she would find makeup artists for the day and was working on fixing the problem. Because of the turmoil this caused me I asked Hannah if we can please cancel the contract. For not getting back to me in a timely manner and because I had this contact booked for over a year I felt like this was incredibly unprofessional. If I had not reached out to set up the timeline it's likely they would have shown up on the wrong date leaving me without anyone for my wedding day. When requesting a refund, Hannah refused to refund me saying she'd give me a 10% discount off only my service. Again, I let Hannah know how I didn't feel confident that she would secure new makeup artists and that I didn't want this stress leading up to my wedding day. I let Hannah know I am more than happy to pay for the trial and services already completed but I wanted out of the contract for services not provided. Hannah refused to refund me. I was so upset not only because I was out over 2k for paying them but I needed to find a new makeup artist in less than 3 weeks. Along with the stress this caused me leading up the wedding when I should be enjoying the time, instead I had to scramble to find someone available. I had to have my husband end up trying to resolve the issues because of the panic attack I had around the incident. Hannah was incredibly inflexible, mocked my mental illiness and was near impossible to get a hold of to find any solution. She never owned up to the mistake and instead gaslit me into saying I was overreacting to the situation. Mind you she never refunded me for the services she didn't provide. I'm writing this specifically so no one/bride should have to deal with this leading up to their wedding day. There are plenty of other makeup artists out there who can better serve you. The hassle and stress this company caused leading up to my day is something that took away from the month of my wedding. There are numerous reviews here that state they dealt with not being refunded and no one showing up on their wedding day. read more

I was reunited with Hannah on the Seattle Wedding group in FB. We were acquaintances from a previous chapter in our lives. From the beginning communication was slightly delayed, but I assumed being a small business it was to be expected. I was impressed with her accolades from the Seattle wedding industry, and features in Seattle bride magazine. So I booked a trial and loved my make up look, it was very much like I envisioned. I shared picture of the hair look I wanted- finger pressed waves that looked brushed out and soft.. well for my $200 trial I was the guinea pig for a new hair wand, that did not even get us close to the style I wanted, my hair was a little too dirty (poor timing on my part) and I was doused in dry shampoo.. by the end my hair felt like hay. She assured me she's done the look I wanted many times and she would nail it on the wedding day with the proper tool. I have a feeling she forgot the right tool at home, since this one came out of a box new. I can only assume though. Hannah also accommodated my mom for a trial, my mom had a lovely appointment, but her hair fell by the time she got home. She decided to change up her look for the day of, and Hannah accommodated the changes.. but she is not trained in dealing with curly hair. My mom redid her hair before the ceremony. I was nervous after my hair trial and after expressing my disappointment with my hair, Hannah was confident she would get my hair the way I wanted on the wedding day, yet argued with me on what hair style I had shown you on the day of. Luckily I had a little bit of time to try and fix what I could. It seems as though she is overly confident on her hair styling abilities and grossly underestimated the time needed to complete full services for 5 people. A few days before the wedding I'm confirming more fine details of the timeline with my other vendors and she didn't have specific times plotted for each person, but said she would arrive at 9:15 and begin at 930. My MOH's, my mom and my MIL and myself were all there. 9:40 rolls around and I call Hannah, no answer. About 5 mins later she drives up, and when I greet her she said my uncle wouldn't let her park and she had been there for 10 mins.. hmm. The only positive thing I have to say of our experience with her on saturday was that all our makeup looked very nice. However I was disappointed with my hair, my moms hair ( which she redid after Hannah left), the way the timeline ran so far behind, and she arrived 45 mins late and didn't say a word, other than a parking delay. To top it all off, we were unable to do any of our before pictures( 2-3pm) prior to guests arriving. Then she had the nerve to make comments about my mother in law's preferred hair style, cracking the line '' did I nail the 90's updo?". My MIL speaks little English, and she was finished at the very end. I felt terrible she was rushed and saved for the end. We had no time to take pictures as guest were arriving and were outside. Because no one was ready at the same time, I didn't get any "getting ready shots". Both of my Maid of Honors ending up curling their own hair so they were at least ready. Thank god they did!! In our contract it stated that we all needed to be finished by 2pm. We barely made it to the ceremony at 330. The amount of stress I felt leading up to the ceremony was greater than it should have been. I emailed Hannah today (two days after the wedding), I was sort of expecting she might reach out first with an apology. But instead, I reached out and shared most of this message above with her. She apologized a lot, but didn't really have any explanation as to why she couldn't do her job on time, other than blaming the "parking delay". Adding one-star to this review, she did not charge me for the three hair services, and lashes she provided, as well as a final total discount. I appreciate that this was done, but I absolutely do not recommend Urbanista Weddings to anyone. I should have read more of the reviews, and listened to my instincts. I would really hate for another bride to feel this way before her wedding and not be fully happy with their look, but also lose out on an hour plus of photography time that was paid for. read more

We decided to postpone our wedding celebration due to the pandemic, and she was so flexible and understanding and completely rallied when decided to do a private civil ceremony before our future event. She completely fulfilled my vision, and I'm a girl who usually *hates* wearing makeup. I felt natural, but polished...myself, but my best self. We went for a glowy / dewy look, and it held all day, including travel! She used all natural, quality products, and happily incorporated in my personal makeup for brows / lashes so I'd feel even more comfortable. She also styled my hair to perfection. The owner of this company is who you work with to schedule your hair and make up artists. She is extremely unresponsive it takes weeks of multiple emails to get a response back from her. She did not have clear communication with the artists prior to the trial and the day of the wedding. We were supposed to have a second artist for make up and the second artists never showed. This messed up our entire day of timeline. The original artist was also very unhappy so this was not a communication error on my end. When asking for reimbursement because our second artist did not show she ended up charging me more and did not apologize for the disaster her organization caused on the day of my wedding. I would 100% book Rosalie Bushy for make up and Kristin Swanson for hair services separately and independently of this company they were great and everyone looked beautiful. read more

I was part of a wedding party that had a very difficult experience with Urbanista Weddings and as a result will strongly recommend against contracting with them. We paid over $1000 only to have Hannah change plans at the last minute, resulting in us cancelling her services for breach of contract. She is now refusing even a partial refund. The bride agreed to contract with Hannah at the time of her trial makeup session and informed her that we had the venue starting at 11AM for a 4PM ceremony (with some pictures before the ceremony). Hannah was amenable and said she may get other MUAs to assist in order to keep us on schedule. We paid in full and although we have now asked multiple times, we still never received a written contract. From the time of the trial on, the bride made multiple attempts to check in with Hannah but never heard back. Finally, the day before the wedding, Hannah responded and said that she needed us at the venue at 9AM. This was two hours earlier than we initially planned and it was quite a shock to us that she was only communicating this the day before the wedding with no additional explanation. We scrambled to find a solution and attempted to contact Hannah multiple times to see if we could come to a compromise, but she was not answering her phone or email. By the time of the rehearsal, with Hannah still not responding, we chose to act as though we were doing our own makeup since we couldn't accommodate her last-minute mandate. We told our wedding coordinator that we would all give up our makeup so that only the bride needed hers done, as long as we could be refunded at least a significant portion of what we paid. On the morning of the wedding, Hannah finally communicated with our coordinator, saying that we had unreasonable expectations and that she had been clear and transparent and it was not her fault that we did not like the schedule. She also indicated at this time that she would not be giving any kind of refund as we (the wedding party) were the ones being unreasonable. I understand things change and weddings are highly dynamic events, but Hannah's silence in the days/weeks prior to the wedding does not add up to "transparency" in our minds. When we asked for a refund, she said that it was "complicated" because "retainers, no matter the amount, are non refundable." This detail was never explained to the bride prior to payment. I can understand Hannah offering a partial refund as I there are certain costs of doing business that she deserves to have covered when someone cancels less than 24 hours before an event. However, we never would have had to cancel so late if Hannah had clearly communicated with us earlier than the day before the wedding. If at the trial session she had told the bride that more time was needed, we would have discussed as a group and figured things out. We were not afforded that opportunity as the schedule changed less than 24 hours before the wedding and - as all brides know - you cannot just show up to a venue two hours earlier than contracted. This whole experience was stressful for the bride and wedding party and very frustrating as we did our best to contact Hannah to ensure things were clear with plenty of time before the wedding. In the end, we did our own makeup and everyone looked beautiful, but we are still out many hundreds of dollars over this. We are continuing to pursue a refund of at least 75% as that is what we feel is fair, but Hannah has stopped communicating with our wedding coordinator. We have had to contact a lawyer, which is not what you want to be doing when you're trying to bask in the afterglow of a great wedding. The days leading up to a wedding are so stressful for all involved that I would never risk doing business with a company that doesn't communicate in a timely and transparent manner and has a history of changing plans with less than 24 hours notice. Please be aware that Urbanista is following these business practices and make sure to get everything in writing if you choose to do business with them. read more

After an artist canceled on me last minute, Hannah reached out as a beacon of hope. With 3 weeks out from my wedding she told me she had artists available and with my worst fears comforted I stopped my search for a near hair and make up artist. I should have seen the signs. Hannah was very slow getting back to me via email. I put down my deposit, I tried to book a trial run, but I waited on her to let me know who was actually available. She finally connected me with a girl but when I went to book her she let me know she was already scheduled with someone else. I contacted Hannah and thought it was just a mistake and she finally found me someone who "wasn't on the website"--sketch-- and kept me on the run around for a trial date. She finally booked me for Thursday but then the night before canceled on me saying she had her dates wrong. I immediately emailed her back asking for another date and have yet to hear from her. As a female business owner my word is one of my best selling points. Hannah should have been clear in her communication from the get go. She also runs the Seattle wedding website on FB so this put me in a challenging spot because I felt like I wasn't able to go on the website and air my grievances. I found someone else who thankfully was able to squeeze me in but as I'm a week out from my wedding this has been VERY stressful. I'm upset that Hannah basically took my deposit and then threw me aside. Terrible terrible business etiquette. **Edit, Hannah did refund my deposit but I till wish that she communicated more clearly. Hannah and her team did my bridal hair and makeup as well as bridesmaids, mothers of the bride/groom, and grandmothers of the bride/groom for our wedding. The consultation/run through with Hannah was dreamy in her new studio nestled in lush, green Seattle. She was extremely sweet and meticulous with the process to make sure she understood my skin, hair, and desires. The timing was as anticipated (even with me being late) and the environment was safe and clean based on her COVID protocols. On wedding day we had scheduled Hannah + 3 additional stylists since my party was so large. Unfortunately for Hannah a COVID cancelation (the day before-- eek!) from one of her team members caused her to juggle around schedules and come with one less stylist. She was extremely apologetic and quickly got to work to try to make up for time lost without the additional hands. Even in this fast-paced process she still ensured every one of the girls she touched looked fabulous and was comfortable with their looks. She switched in and out of girls to accommodate my timelines without a hitch and did the most fabulous job on my hair. It was exactly as we had discussed-- romantic, almost-messy looking, and long-lasting. It was perfect. She was unable to get to two of my bridesmaids because of time constraints (to note: the girls willingly decided to do their own hair to relieve the stress of trying to get to them before photos) but without hesitation, she credited me back and sent a heart-felt, truly appreciated email immediately following the wedding apologizing for the mishap and notifying me of the credit. Hannah is an amazing woman, with amazing team members (they were all so sweet, professional, and did an amazing job on all of our make up), and an amazing work ethic. COVID is crazy, our wedding was a testament to that, so anything that happens during this time should be washed or taken with a gallon of salt. Recently a friend who was getting married contracted with this business to do makeup for the bridal party, 4 bridesmaids plus herself, and paid well in advance. This seemed like an ok thing to do especially since her trial run went well. Leading up to the event repeated attempts to contact the business owner to confirm the start time (11AM for a 4PM ceremony) went unanswered. To be clear, we were only asking for makeup because we had another hairstylist doing the hair as a gift to the bride. The night before the wedding contact was finally established and the bride was told the makeup artist needed to start at 9AM to complete looks for the 5 people even though the plan was established and approved at least a month before. This caused issues as we did not have access to the venue until 11. As a group, we proposed a contingency plan of meeting at a different location close to the venue, doing the prep there and moving to the venue as soon as we were allowed to. After further communications went unanswered about our plan, we opted to cancel because we would not be receiving the services that were paid for. It appeared to us that if the business did not respond, they would not know where to be at 9AM or they would arrive at 11 and not have enough time to complete their work. This would not have been a necessity if the business had better communication and flexibility for the back up plan that only became into play after they changed their requirements last minute. The cancellation was not a decision that we came to easily and it caused added stress and costs to the wedding party because we had to go purchase supplies last minute to cover what should have been brought by the makeup artist. We have asked for a refund and as of now it is being denied. It seems that may be standard operating procedure for this business so I am urging you to do your research and look for someone who might actually show up for your big day. I was super excited to work with Urbanista after my trial run with Hannah. She was easy to talk to, and did a good job with my makeup. I ended up paying in full a week or so before my wedding, which turned out to be a huge mistake. They never responded to any of my emails after my initial booking and I was only able to get ahold of them through my planner. At the trial I had talked to Hannah directly about the timeline for the day of, when our venue access started, and what kind of looks my bridesmaids were going for. I even sent a follow up email after not hearing anything from her, but got no response. The day before my wedding, I still had not heard from her so i asked my planner to reach out. Hannah then told us that our start time needed to be two hours before we had venue access. We tried to reach a compromise where we would start off location and travel to the venue when we were able to get access, but Hannah said she would have to charge for extra for that, even though this was all caused by her lack of planning and communication. We ended up cancelling the day before because we couldn't get venue access any earlier and didn't want to deal with the stress. If we had more notice, we could have met her at a different location and had all our makeup done before heading to the venue, but it was too last minute to accomodate her. There were too many things we would have had to move around with other vendors. We spent extra money running to Ulta the night before to purchase makeup for everyone. In the end, we all looked amazing and I ended up liking the makeup I did myself better than what she did at the trial. She is now refusing to give us a refund because she said we were "unrealistic and unreasonable" and it "wasn't her fault". She also said that her cancelation policy states they don't give refunds, but no such policy was ever communicated, nor is on her website. Please consider choosing someone more reliable who is willing to communicate in a timely manner. read more

I was aiming for a more natural style as I don't typically wear heavy makeup on a day-to-day basis. Ksenia did an incredible job of dialing up my typical look to be a bit more adventurous. She turned my vision into a reality! The makeup lasted all day and I felt incredibly comfortable & natural throughout. My sister and mother also had their makeup done by Ksenia, and she was great with their bolder, more dramatic looks as well. Latecia did hair and she was everything!! She was willing to take the time to do and re-do my curls until they were perfect. She knew how to translate my pinterest goals into a look that worked for me. My sister (who has a mullet to begin with!) had an elaborate & beautifully messy up-do that matched her extravagant velvet gown & personality ;) perfectly! I couldn't be happier with Urbanista. THEY ARE HORRIBLE AT COMMUNICATION. I contacted them four weeks ago, trying to reserve a stylist with them. They were great in the beginning. They said they had artists available for my wedding day and all I needed to do was fill out three different forms covering literally the same information and they would reserve an artist for me. I was working with Hannah and Michaela. I told them I was a teacher and asked about their discounts they said they offer teachers and it took them over two weeks to reply. I had to call, email, dm, and text them to finally get a response. It was so frustrating. When they finally did respond I felt they were very rude. All in all, I am sure the artists are wonderful, but their admin and communication skills are horrendous, leading to a very stressful month for me. read more

My wedding was August 9, and it was mostly wonderful. But I am having a hard time looking at photos of myself without cringing. My communication with Hannah (owner of Urbanista) before my wedding was brief--she did not respond to my request for help with hair and makeup ideas (sent July 28th) and when I wrote to confirm her arrival time she wrote back "Yes dear, you'll have Allison and myself at 10:30." (I had asked for her to arrive at 10am, and please don't call me "dear") She arrived on time. When she saw my sister and I she complained that we had wet hair, that she preferred working with dry hair, could we please go blowdry, and dirty hair was better. I had received no guidance about how to prepare for the day! When one of my five bridesmaids asked for a straight blow-out for her curly hair, she claimed she forgot her straight iron, and gave my bridesmaid a terrible blowout, which had to be fixed later. My maid-of-honor was clearly upset with her hair, and it had to be repinned and hairsprayed. All this time Hannah made excuses and no apologies...the customer, even on her wedding day, was not right. She claimed my mother was not on the invoice (I have emails mentioning her doing 6 women plus the bride) but thankfully added her in with very little fuss and did a nice job. I was last, as the bride, and received the shortest amount of time on my hair and makeup, and it showed. She said that one of the updos I chose would be impossible and fall out by the end of the night. Well, the updo she gave me started to fall out before I walked down the aisle. It was seriously nothing special, rather messy, poorly done. I accept some responsibility for this--I didn't want a messy look, and messy seems to be Hannah's thing. We weren't a good fit all around. I paid her in full, with tip, for her services, but last night I just looked at photos of myself and cried. That's not the person I am--generally pretty low key--but I feel guilty that my bridesmaids didn't have a good experience, and I'm mad at myself for letting this happen. I was in desperate need to find an affordable full bridal hair and makeup aesthetician on my wedding day and I found Hannah after searching numerous of websites. What I was looking for: 1. Someone to do both Hair & Makeup 2. Convenience as I didn't want to drive to a salon and then to my wedding venue (I wanted someone who can be on location) 3. Affordability Throughout the times I planned for my wedding, she had traveled to my home for my trial and another time for my engagement shoot. She doesn't charge for the first hair and makeup trial but she would for subsequent trials. On the day of the wedding, she arrived a bit later than I expected which delayed the wedding by an hour. Granted, she did hair and makeup for me, my mom, and one of my bridesmaids by herself. But it made us very nervous in terms of timeliness. However, I think she expanded her team so it shouldn't be a problem anymore. Regardless, she made me feel so beautiful on the day of my wedding and I received compliments all day long. read more

I'm so glad I picked Urbanista Weddings for my wedding. I did weeks of research and comparisons on MUA and hairstylists in the Seattle area. Hannah and her team came up on top as far as pricing, flexibility, and responsiveness. Hannah answered all my questions and concerns with full description of her services. She has an awesome team of artists working with her. Throughout the whole period, Hannah kept me up to date with reminders and sent me full invoices of the description of services! Great transparency! My main artist from Hannah's team was Michelle and she was fantastic! She arrived on time, and when she completed my style, it was just as we had gone over in the trial and it was a beautiful bun! My hair looked flawless and classic. Michelle and Andrea were able executed my short-notice bridesmaid style request perfectly on each one of my bridesmaids. Michelle did a fantastic job in leading and managing the styles. Lots of compliments on bridesmaid hair as well during my wedding! She even made sure we got extra spray and touch-ups before she left. For makeup, I was concerned my mother would not know how to apply makeup to her own aging, dulling skin and eyes. After Michelle's makeup application, my mother looked so beautiful and happy, I almost cried! She also offered to help with my eyeliner. Asian eyes, mono-lid, she did a great wing tip! She just goes above and beyond. I feel so blessed she was there to prepare for my wedding. I would recommend Urbanista Weddings to any bride who wants the professionalism, artistry, and touch of sweetness that Hannah and her team can offer on the special day. She was awesome at hearing my specific requests and went beyond my expectations as I am quite picky with my hair and makeup (I tend to go the natural route). I absolutely loved how she styled me. A few weeks before my wedding I decided to go from blonde to dark brunette so naturally I changed the look I was going for and when Hannah showed up on my wedding day to style me, she was completely on board for the new direction. I was nervous to change it on her last minute but she heard me out and executed the look I wanted- yet again. My stylist was supposed to do a trial run on a set day for my engagement shoot (which I planned way in advanced). At last minute, she had to back out for a corporate gig. Although I first felt insulted, I could understand the situation and she offered me another trial to make up for this issue. This then goes to Hannah. The stylist asked her to fill in for my trial run. Hannah lived close so it was convenient for her to cover. She did my hair and makeup and I loved the end result. At first it felt like too much, but she assured me that it would calm down after a couple hours (which it did). Hannah (owner, operator) was late to my trial run. To her credit, 520 was closed. Then again, it was a scheduled closure and as a professional, she should have known and planned accordingly. This made me nervous for day-of, but she was on time on the wedding day (one of her assistants was late). The MAJOR issue with time was despite me telling her what time she had to finish (many, many times) she still went over that time limit so long that we had to cut out some of our photos. Unprofessional and also disrespectful. As far as the hair - she did an excellent job. My hair trial hadn't gone as well as I hoped, but she made some changes and my hair looked great and stayed that way until the end of the night. I was very impressed because there was a lot of rushing around (some running around, literally) and dancing. She and her assistants did my mother's hair and a few bridesmaids - their hair also looked great. As for makeup, I had made clear to Hannah after my trial that the mascara or eyeliner and bled under my eyes following the trial run. I reminded her of this that day. Same issue. Looking at the photos from the reception, I was pretty disappointed that it looked so unkempt. Initially, however, it looked lovely - I wanted it to look mostly natural, but still look good in photos. It did look great through the ceremony, but not long after. As far as personality, she's super peppy and energetic, but is definitely more of a talker than a listener - which is not a huge deal, but may be why she never really hear what time we needed to finish, and never bothered to switch up my eye makeup. All in all, she did a great job with hair, a good job with makeup. I would recommend her to someone in a pinch, but I'm not confident I could recommend without some warnings. read more

I will keep this brief as thinking about it makes me furious and nauseous. Hannah was supposed to do hair and makeup for me, hair for my 4 bridesmaids, and hair and makeup for another friend in the wedding. Hannah came late and forgot her combs and brushes. We repeatedly advised her of our timeline, but she kept saying she was running ahead of schedule. She was not. She ran so far over time that she was not able to do the look we had agreed on for me (the bride). She did a quicker version of the look that omitted certain elements. However, she apparently did not spray my hair enough as the look was ruined BEFORE the ceremony. The hairstyles on me and at least 2 out of my 4 bridesmaids were ruined BEFORE the ceremony. I wanted to cry. For my big moment and for a great number of the photos, my hair looked like crap! Additionally, she just ran out of time on the last girl to the point where my friend had to cut her off midway in order to leave and make it to the venue. Overall, in addition to having hairstyles that did not survive until the ceremony, Hannah made me and my bridesmaids run OVER ONE HOUR behind schedule, despite repeated warnings about our timeline. This cost us one hour of reserved limousine time and also one hour of reserved photographer time - a total of $450. More than the money, the emotional trauma was the worst. As the bride, I was terribly anxious and furious and freaked out about the day's schedule falling to pieces. My bridesmaids, my mom, and I were so stressed out that it was hard for us to unwind and enjoy the next few hours of the day leading up to the ceremony. After the wedding, Hannah treated this issue very flippantly. She provided a slew of ludicrous excuses and she has not taken responsibility for her actions in a satisfactory way. She refunded me $100, which is a paltry sum considering: (1) the cost of the services she provided, which she was not able to complete to satisfaction and several of which did not last until the ceremony, (2) how much she cost us in terms of lost time with other vendors, and (3) the emotional stress for my mother, my friend, the 4 bridesmaids, and me - the bride. To sum up, Hannah came very close to ruining my wedding day. If you look at my other reviews, you'll note that I usually give very positive reviews. So this extremely negative review is reflective of Hannah's performance, not my general review style. read more

My sister (bride) used Urbanista for wedding hair and make-up for her and the bridal party. On the day of the wedding, the team showed up and got to work right away. All seemed to be going well until it became clear that one of the make-up artists was extremely junior/inexperienced and took a long time to do the bridesmaids make-up. We quickly began to run behind schedule so I encouraged the stylist to start on the bride to ensure that she had her hair and make up done in time for her first look which could only take place at a particular time due to venue limitations. She refused and did everyone else before my sister resulting in the bride being late for her first look with her husband-to-be. It was incredibly stressful for all involved. While my hair was amazing, my make-up left a lot to be desired. The make-up artist gave me false lashes (which she neglected to tell me cost additional) which fell off before the ceremony and my eye make up was so caked on that it was sliding off my face in chunks. Fortunately, the bride ended up looking amazing (thank you Allison) but the rest of us who had our make up done by the junior artist were disappointed. I've been in several weddings and had on-site hair and make-up done and it has never been this disorganized, unprofessional and disappointing. Awful experience. The communication at this company is minimal. Hannah Bush refuses to talk on the phone which means any issue takes forever to resolve. I was told three days before my wedding that my hairstyle wasn't feasible because I didn't have enough hair. I appreciated the honesty, but I would have appreciated it a month prior at my trial. The stress caused during my wedding week trying to coordinate another trial was awful and Hannah took forever to respond and solve the solution. I ended up canceling pre wedding family plans. Then the stylists mixed up times on the day of the wedding and I wasn't ready on time. It was extremely stressful and I felt rushed through the process. I ended up being late for the first look. I think Allison is very talented and does amazing work but dealing with Hannah is a pain and the lack of communication is not something any bride should experience. read more

I was looking for someone to do my makeup for my wedding, and I had left messages with four, yes FOUR other places, and NOBODY called me back! A couple weeks later, I figured they were never going to call me back, so I started the search anew, and I contacted Urbanista Weddings. I got a message back from Hannah, I believe within a few hours, which was a good sign. I am actually glad nobody else called me back, because I loved how my makeup turned out so much!!! She was on time on the wedding day, and did an awesome job on me, and my three bridesmaids, plus she was really fun to work with. She kept us all entertained the whole time she was there. This review is long overdue, but Urbanista Weddings did an absolutely amazing job for my wedding in January! I scheduled my trial run with Hannah a few months in advance and she did a wonderful job with both my hair and make-up. I had myself, 4 bridesmaids and my mom who needed both hair and make-up done on my wedding day (within a 4 hour time frame) and Hannah was so thorough, asking about the girls' hair and their make-up preferences before deciding how many stylists would be necessary for the day. She said two should be perfect, and I requested Timaree as the second stylist after seeing her incredible make-up skills on Facebook. They both arrived at the venue on time and we went over the schedule of which girl would get hair/make-up done when to ensure I was finished a little earlier so the girls could continue getting ready while I had first look pictures taken. They each set up a station (Hannah doing hair and Timaree doing make-up) and I was thrilled with what a fantastic job they both did. They were constantly doing time checks to make sure we were on track with the schedule. Most of the bridesmaids are pretty low maintenance about hair and make-up, but both Timaree and Hannah made suggestions and helped them figure out a hair and make-up style that would be perfect for them. The finished looks for everyone were so beautiful. These ladies truly know what to do to make you look spectacular in pictures, and I am SO thankful they were available on my big day. I really enjoy doing my own hair and make-up and went back and forth about having someone else do it for my wedding. Let me tell you, of all the big decisions I had to make during wedding planning, hiring these ladies was one of the best. I can't tell you how much better my pictures look having a professional job done, and how much less I had to stress that day because of them (that's really the goal, right? The less stress, the better!). I was worried that I wouldn't look like myself having someone else do my make-up, but Timaree truly made us all look like the most beautiful versions of ourselves. We had our hair and make-up done beginning at 10am that day and by 11pm all the ladies' hair and make-up still looked perfect (I was actually really sad to wash mine off at the end of the night! :). I booked Hannah in November for my July 21st wedding. She assured me she would be the artist doing my hair and makeup. She cancelled 9 days before because another stylist of hers was unable to do hair and makeup for a different bride that only Hannah could do. This was incredibly stressful and frustrating. Hannah sent me an email about this situation and claimed I was still a priority to her. She clearly prioritized the other bride. I definitely feel bad for the other bride that the stylist she had booked cancelled but I had specifically booked Hannah. So now my stylist cancelled. She didn't even have the decency to call to let me know about this. She added an additional stylist fee the week before and had to charge me after the wedding for 1 of the people because she didn't update the contract with the correct information I gave her multiple times. Hair and makeup turned out good by the random people she assigned to us. They didn't even know who was doing hair and who was doing makeup that day. They also clearly weren't booked for a Saturday in July, only 9 days before so that is saying something. Overall, everything was very unprofessional and I definitely would not recommend this company. read more

I worked with Timaree and Allison on my September 13th wedding and I'm soooo happy I had these ladies. I started with a consultation with Timaree a month prior, and she totally got my vision and was really fun to work with. On the day-of, my biggest concern was timing because my group was fairly large with 8 total, and we all wanted to get our hair and makeup done. Timaree and Allison were both super punctual and even showed up early to my hotel room to setup. And these girls work fast! We started at 8:30 and were done by 1:30, which for hair and makeup for 8 people is impressive. And despite the time crunch, they did not skim on quality. Timaree and Allison are pros and they made everyone look fantastic! The updos they gave my bridesmaids were so beautiful and intricate and their makeup looked glamorous - exactly the theme we were going for. I absolutely loved both my hair and makeup which held up all evening (I think I only touched up my makeup once). Both of these girls are sweet, fun, and super talented. Working with Hannah to set everything up is also a breeze, and their pricing is really competitive. I highly recommend working with Urbanista Wedding for hair and makeup. read more

Hannah turned me into a princess on my wedding day. From the time I reached out for a quote to the time I left her at our hotel to head to the venue, she was a dream to work with. As a girl who doesn't typically wear makeup or do much with her hair, my trial run showed me that she could bring my exact vision for my simple hair and makeup to life. She talked me into what she knew I needed for pics and also showed me that my hair could indeed hold a curl! Hannah did my hair and makeup on my wedding day. Pro: I looked great. Con: she was contacting the wrong bride on the big day (even though we had called and texted previously and she certainly had my phone number) subsequently had to wait for her to show up an hour and a half late, and I ended up missing 60 out of 90 planned minutes of photo time at a park. That is time I will never get back. I will look at my wedding photos and always remember running late and rushing through pictures because she made me late. If you want someone reliable, look elsewhere. Sweet woman, but my experience with her was not great. read more

I'm sorry to rate a locally-run small business with such so few stars, but my experience with Urbanista overall was not a pleasant one and I feel like it's important to help others following my footsteps to make informed choices they are happy with. Hannah, the owner, was responsive and helpful via email setting up my trial run, I appreciated her support despite never meeting her. However, I was asked by Paige (the administrative assistant) to sign a binding contract WELL before my wedding, on May 8th, to be exact, with a September 17th wedding date, which I find unfair and frankly unprofessional. Why would anyone sign into a contract when they haven't even seen the product? Fortunately, I intentionally neglected to sign the contract until after my trial run. They suggest this trial run should occur about 1-3 months before your big day, so, basically they asked me to sign a contract several months before this "recommended trial period" (ie 1-3 months out). I had my trial run with Latecia on May 19th. I'll be kind... She was not very communicative (barely asked any questions about myself, my fiancé, or my wedding, and definitely didn't discuss the vision I hoped to achieve), she didn't really listen to my goals and input for my appearance either (example, put fake eyelashes on when I stated I would most certainly NOT be using them on my wedding day...what a waste of time; additionally began airbrushing my face when I'd just had a vampire facial the week prior and really shouldn't have had anything so drying done to my skin), and she overall seemed disinterested in helping/supporting someone who is beginning to prepare for potentially the biggest day of ones life. Perhaps there are stylists at Urbanista whom other clients have had good experiences with, as evidenced by the reviews, but Hannah's recommendation of Latecia, saying she was "right up my alley" into terms of minimalist and elegant makeup, was kind of bullshit. This trial cost me $208, with tip, for a total of $240. I don't mind dishing out cash for such an important event that I want to look good for, but give me an effing break. Additionally, to add insult to injury, I received an email on September 13th (4 days before my wedding) asking to confirm the location of my wedding. I responded that I was sorry for any miscommunication but I had not signed the contract and was not intending to utilize Urbanista's services for my big day. I got NO response, not even a "Well, hey sorry for the lack of communication over the last three months, good luck!" I have a coworker who did have a good experience with Urbanista, and even Latecia herself, but this was at least several years ago...perhaps I met her at an inopportune time in life. But regardless, I would not recommend this place to family or friends and will not be going back. read more

I was 8 months preganant and feeling big, fat and ugly, so I decided to get my hair and makeup done, to make myself feel a little bit better about myself. Well it worked! My hair and makeup was stunning. Everyone at the baby shower kept complimenting me on both and despite barely able to walk and not fitting into any shoes besides flip flops, I love the photos from my baby shower because I look so put together! After reading the, largely, positive reviews about Urbanista Weddings, I was excited to call and discuss a trial hair and make-up appointment for my Jan wedding and before engagement photos. Upon first call, Hannah answered and proceeded to say her client had just arrived and requested I call her back in a couple hours. I thought it was a bit unprofessional not to ask for my number to call me back, nonetheless, I did after which I left a voice mail. Hannah called me back the next day and left a lengthy message (over 2mins) proclaiming her agenda of business and why she did not call back, as if calendar items fuel greater business. Sensing very little tact, I returned her call shortly after to discuss my needs and about my wedding details. She proceeded to inform me that trials are not perfect, and that she wants to make sure people do not take advantage of professional make-up and hair for engagement photos. She informed me she would not be available for my trial, but another artist would, and requested I complete on-line form. I did so that Sun eve. Today I called to check status, she said she normally sends confirmations Thurs/Fri (today is Thurs), that her calendar was not in front of her, and she is 'fairly sure' I am on the calendar, and asked what time we agreed on. At this point, I had reached my max of unprofessionalism and insult. Based on Hannah's treatment of a potential new client, disregard for timing, and rudeness, I would never recommend her services...and this is all in an effort to 'try' to gain an appointment! read more

Unfortunately, overall I would not recommend Urbanista weddings to do hair and makeup for a wedding. First, I scheduled with Hannah to do my hair and makeup for a boudoir shoot a few months before my wedding (so we could get to know each other and try out Urbanista). She came highly recommended from my photographer. However, even though I spoke to her 5 days before, she did not show up. After waiting for a few minutes, my photographer called to see what was up and she had completely forgotten. She called Laticia, who is another stylist at Urbanista who lives near where my shoot was. Thank God for Laticia! She rolled out of bed and hustled to my shoot to make me look beautiful! Now that I had worked with Laticia and she knew my style and what I wanted, I booked Laticia for my wedding day (emphasizing I was not happy Hannah made my shoot run 2 hours late and that on my wedding day this cannot happen). Fast forward to my wedding day, Laticia is stuck in traffic and is 1 hour late to do hair and makeup. She got there, did my hair and makeup quickly, and left (was there about 1 hour total for hair and makeup). Luckily I had built in extra time, so my photos did not run too late. Laticia did an amazing job on my hair and makeup, 5 stars for her work. But the disorganization, flakiness and lateness on multiple occasions would make me very concerned to book these ladies for anything else. read more

I would NOT recommend Urbanista Weddings for hair and makeup on your wedding day or any day for that matter. Initially, Hannah was friendly, personable and accommodating over the phone, but when it came down to actually providing services on my wedding day, I was extremely disappointed. I made sure upfront that Hannah knew I had 11 bridesmaids and that I would need more than one makeup/ hair artist on my wedding day. Hannah reassured me (both over the phone and by email) that she would have 2 other makeup/hair artists helping out on the day of the wedding and that everyone would be ready on time for the ceremony, no problem. Hannah was originally supposed to do our hair/makeup, but she ended up having her makeup artist, Allison Sherrill do our hair and makeup on my wedding day - which actually ended up being the best thing that happened (this was just another indication of her flakiness and disorganization). On the day of my wedding, Allison showed up on time and immediately began doing 2 of my bridesmaid's makeup/hair. Because of time, Allison then proceeded to do my hair and makeup. It was two hours before the ceremony and still 9 of my bridesmaids needed their hair and makeup done. Allison reassured us that at any time, Hannah and her other makeup artist would be showing up. Another 30 minutes went by and no sign of Hannah. Allison kept texting Hannah and confirmed she'd be arriving in 10 min. Another 10 min go by, and another 10 min go by, and by this time all of us are getting a little nervous and quite upset. The other 8 bridesmaids took matters into their own hands and began helping each other with their hair and makeup because it appeared Hannah wasn't going to show up anytime soon. Finally, an hour before the ceremony, Hannah and her other makeup artist came bursting into the room, and by this time all but 2 of my bridesmaids were finished with their hair and makeup. Hannah then asked us, "Who needs their makeup and hair done!" Hannah didn't even say that they were sorry for being late, or how can I help, or I'm sorry to make you nervous on your wedding day. Nothing! None of my bridesmaids answered her because they were all furious. So then again, Hannah asked us in a little louder and very unprofessional tone "who needs their makeup done!!!!" At this point I was trying to not get upset because this was the most special day of my life and I didn't want someone like Hannah ruining it. My two remaining bridesmaids (one of which was in tears by this time) ended up getting their hair and makeup finished by Hannah and her assistant. Thank goodness most of my bridesmaids ended up doing their own hair and makeup because there is no way Hannah and her assistants would've been able to finish everyone in one hour! Come to find out Hannah and her assistant were late because the bride before me was not satisfied with their work so she made Hannah redo her look which set them back in their schedule!!!! So the bottom line is: I would avoid working with Hannah- she is unorganized, unprofessional, and just plain rude. However, if you decide to go with Urbanista Weddings, you are better off going with one of her assistants (Allison was great) or you are better off having a smaller bridal party. Hannah does not take any accountability for her actions, which you can see from her counterarguments on other bride's reviews on weddingwire.com. I used Urbanista as the hair and makeup team for my wedding. They saved the day! I was having a challenging time finding someone who was available for my Labor Day weekend wedding and they came through tremendously. Hannah helped with the process of figuring out our needs and timeline. She kept in contact with me and responded to my emails quickly. On the day of my wedding my stylists had to do hair and makeup for 12 women in a matter 4/5 hours! We had two women, Angie and Tara, and they did a fantastic job. Every girl got the style they wanted, they looked beautiful and, more importantly, felt beautiful. I highly recommend this team. I don't have any complaints and they made my wedding day beautiful. read more

Im a local model and was in need of a good hairstylist, who could work out a high fashion look for me. Hannah from Urbanista weddings helped me to find Michelle, one of her Top Stylists. At the day of the shoot, Michelle arrived on time, was very nice and did a wonderful job in creating an adequate hairstyling for my shoot. I was very pleased with her work, and would recommand her to anyone in need of a good MUA and Hairstylist. The four star rating is for the pricing. I think the prices could be a little less exprensive for the services they provide. I had to pay almost double the amount for the hairstyling then I had to pay the MUA, and the MUA offered to do even two different makeup looks for me!
