I had previously had a haircut here and had a good experience but am now changing my 5-star review for the most recent haircut. First, the actual price when I went to pay was more than what it said on the website and what it said at the time of the booking. I was surprised that the haircut itself only took about 10 minutes, and I am not sure if the length was checked. Once I washed my hair (a couple of days later) and it was straight again, I noticed that the left side was shorter than the right and reached out to the stylist. The stylist said she would just round out the right side to match the left. I mentioned that I wanted to grow out the left side a bit before having corrections made because I didn't want any more length taken off. She said that that would count as a whole new haircut. Since I just paid for one, I didn't think that "solution" was reasonable at all. read more

Noah is chill and informed. He knows how to handle blending in and maintaining stubborn grays and I honestly haven't had any other salon make my hair look this natural and low maintenance. If his idea for how to grow out my grays works then I am going to be mind blown. I am going to wait to see if the color lasts because prior salons would show my grays again after two washes. So if he is the miracle hand that helps me let my grays grown in naturally I'd be grateful! I like low maintenance hair. I am giving four stars to see how this washes in the next two weeks and if it sticks like he said he's getting all five stars, so I will be updating this review. So far I'm so happy!!! read more

I've been debating leaving a review for a while because I'm not one to ever leave one and I had a such an unfortunate experience but I have been recommended to by many based off my experience here. In winter of last year I went in with inspo pictures of Rachel green hair and desire to be blonde as a light brunette and ended up with horribly damaged, fried, silver white hair, with brown and orange splotches. I tried to gaslight myself into thinking I might've miscommunicated by asking to bleach my hair and wanting to for sure be blonde but I was very clear with my photos that what I now understand with the proper vocabulary from salons I went to to get it fixed I clearly was looking for a balayage/highlights and warm hair. I felt incredible rushed and mismanaged in the process, I booked Noah because of the salons great reviews and especially with the owner of the salon Noah. I was given a full head of bleach and put under heat for far too long with foils and he went to wash it out and missed huge chunks of bleach that I had to ask him to wash out after my wash that were burning my scalp. I was a bit scared somewhat through because he said I should be excited to be a platinum blonde which obviously I was not wanting but I was scared to say something as someone who didn't know anything about blonde. I was quickly rushed to another ladies chair I had no idea would be cutting my hair instead of him and she was 15 minutes late cause she was getting lunch. She followed up with no product or HEAT PROTECTANT and a revlon brush on my freshly damaged bleached hair and gave me a very choppy haircut and kept pushing me to get a style that I didn't want which I ended up with and said I shouldn't go to any other salon because no one else can do it like them. I payed a hefty price for something I didn't want. I was recommended by another salon to follow up with Noah to get refunded and fixed but was far too terrified after the experience I had. I went to another salon to get it fixed the next day and had the whole salon surrounding me to apologize and ask what happened wondering if I went to a cosmetology school. I genuinely hate spreading hate but after my experience I want to spread awareness for how precious hair is to your confidence and the damage it's caused my hair and mental health to this day. I've been trying to reflect on my experience at Noah salon... And I'm walking away without wanting to return. This is my second appointment and both times there was a delay because I think they book clients a little too close together. What this meant was that I was seen 30 minutes after my appointment was scheduled and then the client behind me was ready to go so I didn't receive a blowout... Now thinking about it for a almost $300 hair appointment that is something that needs to be included. Additionally I had come in wanting to darken my roots to match my natural hair color and help with grow out, but I was told by the stylist that they liked what they have been doing and instead lightened my hair. I walked away without getting what I wanted for a price that was pretty steep. I also had to ask to cover my grays, and I was hoping that would be something as stylist would ask about. Everyone is as pleasant as can be but something just feels a little off. I don't know if it's because they're over booking which leads to less time to get to check on clients files and really understand what they want. If this was worked out I might come back, but since this has been my experience both times, I don't think I will. read more

The experience was great, Noah was very thorough in explaining the process and I was upfront with him about my hair maintenance style so that he could color my hair properly since I don't curl it normally. I have struggled to find a stylist who can do a balayage resulting in cooler tones with no brass or orange tones over the years. When I spoke with Noah and clearly explained to him what I was going for and what I didn't want, he said he totally understood and that it would be a piece of cake. And once again, I ended up with warm brassy tones. It looked good for a couple weeks, then the gloss washed out (using a color safe shampoo and conditioner) and the stereotypical brass tones that I was dreading appeared. Balayage isn't cheap and it does significant damage to your hair, so there's really nothing I can do now except spend two years letting it grow out before trying again. Noah himself is a nice pleasant person, but I feel like he didn't really listen to me or take me seriously when I was getting that initial consult. I've been trying to make another apt. to come in for a gloss to tone down the brass but have not been able to reach the salon by phone. I left a message and no one has returned my call. :( read more

So I made an emergency appointment here after I gave myself a covid cut yesterday (it was fun, but the aftermath was...horrifying.) I had never been here before and have never been one to stick to one salon or hairdresser- but after today's visit I'll definitely be returning. I got my hair cut by Rebekah- she recreated the hair inspiration I showed her (medium length, choppy layers, slight side bangs) perfectly! Haircut with Kyle turned out okay, just didn't appreciate being treated like a child, I'm assuming because of my stature (I'm 4'10"). It was pretty humiliating having my hair cut while I'm standing. If there's an issue to where you can't cut my hair maybe get a different chair? Maybe utilize the chair's adjustable height? I'm an adult paying you quite a bit of money to provide a service. At the end, he said "now you look more grown up". This is what 33 looks like for me, I'm a fking grown up. I regret continuing with my service after he told me to stand up but was also unsure of what was happening. I didn't have the energy to confront Kyle at the time, it's exhausting to have to do this all the time whether it be size, race or otherwise. I regret tipping 20% when I was treated like less than a person because I'm short but he offered to fill out the tip for me bc of covid. He also signed for me which I'm not sure is legal. Anyway, it's awkward to tell someone what you're tipping them so they can fill it out themselves. I just lost energy to interact with this person after being treated this way. I told myself that if the haircut went well I would get my hair colored here, but yeah, never coming back ti this place. So disappointed. After getting hair done at Noah each month for over a year my stylist first of all didn't know my name.. told me I was early which I was (15 minutes), big deal...and then didn't acknowledge my appointment or make amends for not having it on the books. Evidently the salon did not completely change its booking system...two of us showed up for 10 AM appointments. The stylist was certain she couldn't have been at fault. The younger person of course got the appointment. I gave the owner my written confirmation, proof of the booking, but there was no compensation (scheduling an extra appointment that day) and my stylist appeared to put the blame on me...so embarrassing...I will not go back...I am certain there are other stylists who do as well or better....but I was totally offended. I considered myself a loyal customer. Apparently loyalty is not reciprocal. read more

The Noah Salon is tucked away in Ravenna/Roosevelt, close to the new light rail station opening in the fall. Noah's is a badass with color and Rebekah always makes my hair look better than it is. Was referred to Noah by some neighbor friends after my online rant about a bad highlight job that left me feeling like a tiger--harsh stripes ( done elsewhere). I showed up a few minutes early and Noah got started right away. I needed my roots and a bit below colored to erase the stripes and then we did a full baylage. It ended up super gorgeous and I could not be happier! I have dark brunette hair and the blended in shades of blonde of the baylage added much depth to my hair. Due to the amount of hair I have ( thick!) we ended up going over the two hour appt block ( fine by me!) and even though his next customer had arrived I never felt rushed out of the chair. He walked me through the best way to style my hair and how to work with the products I already have to maintain the blonde. First time client of Rebekah and Noah Salon. This was my first haircut in months due to COVID. When I arrived, the staff were all in masks, the salon was immaculate, and the service was great. It is a small salon with chairs spaced apart and only three stylists at a time. Social distancing and COVID precautions were maintained in a way that still allowed for a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Rebekah looked at my hair and made some great recommendations for a haircut. She is a very talented stylist - I love my new haircut. Ok, Noah is a color genius. I found him, in desperation, ~15 years ago, after my blonde hair had grown darker and darker over the years. I left the salon that day amazed. My hair was the exact color it was in high school. He's been taking great care of my hair ever since. I'm extremely disappointed in how my hair turned out. It's brassy orange. Exactly what I DIDNT want from a balayage.. I was better off leaving my hair the way it was. I don't get how some can be a professional and not know how to avoid this. We discussed it, I showed a picture, and he confidently assured me that wasn't going to happen and it did. Period. When I went to check out, he didn't even know my name. So awkward. Make an effort to read your appointment booking beforehand and know your client's name. It's a blatant display of " I don't care" . We aren't just money in your pocket. Second, when I drove home that day and SAW the ORANGE, I called and asked to come in and tone it down. He was RELUCTANT.. really? Make me feel awkward because you can't do your job right? I'm gone and paid so who cares now? His response was.." ummm I guess I can do that..." I didn't even bother to show up after that response. Every time I look at this mess I get more infuriated. It's not my perception or my opinion, it's orange and just an all around embarrassing job. Looks like a cheap at home bleach job.
