Most recently, I brought my cat in for an eye issue and was quoted over $600 for an exam, sedation, tests, and medication. The price immediately felt extremely high, especially for an eye infection, so I decided to call another veterinary clinic to compare. The other clinic examined both of my cat's eyes, and the total cost came out to under $120 including medication. They also determined that sedation was not necessary at all. My cat was calm, friendly, and even purring during the exam, which made me question why sedation was being pushed so strongly at the first clinic. This clinic does not allow pet owners to accompany their animals due to "safety protocols," so it left me wondering how my cat was being handled during the visit. Another frustrating part of the experience is that you don't actually speak directly with the doctor. All communication goes through the technician, who goes back and forth between you and the doctor. As a pet owner, I would much rather speak directly with the veterinarian responsible for my pet's care, instead of receiving information through a middle person. At the other clinic, the doctor was with me during the entire exam, explaining everything step by step, which felt much more transparent and reassuring. What also shocked me was that they mentioned charging a fee for each CPR attempt in case of an emergency. As a worried pet owner, hearing about additional charges like that felt extremely discouraging and overwhelming. Isn't the priority supposed to be protecting the life of the animal under their care? This unfortunately isn't my first bad experience here. During a previous visit, my cat needed a cast. After the procedure, she was still sedated and very sleepy, and the cast fell off immediately after we got home. She had barely moved, so it clearly wasn't my fault or my cat's fault. I called the clinic hoping they would fix it since it appeared to be an issue with how the cast was applied, but they charged me again to redo it. At the time I didn't push for a refund because my cat's wellbeing came first. Looking back now after this second experience, I truly feel I deserve a refund for that cast, since the issue was not caused by anything I did or by my cat. I do want to say that the front desk staff have always been kind and supportive, and I appreciate them. However, overall my experiences with this clinic have been very disappointing. I care deeply about my cat and want a veterinary office that is honest, transparent, and focused on the animal's wellbeing, not adding unnecessary services that dramatically increase the bill. There are other veterinary clinics in the area that provide great care without making pet owners feel this way. I strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before committing to treatment here.

The front desk check-in ladies are always friendly, helpful and professional, and the clinic itself is clean and well run. During my initial referral appointment, Dr FitzPatrick explained my dog Henry's grade 3 mast cell tumor diagnosis clearly and honestly. He took the time to walk me through the prognosis, next steps, and all available treatment options. I appreciated that he was straightforward about what to expect while still being compassionate and supportive. We are now about six weeks into treatment, with weekly bloodwork and chemotherapy. One thing that has stood out is the consistency of care. Veterinary Technician Shannon always comes to the waiting room to take Henry back for his treatments. I truly appreciate seeing the same person each time. Shannon is kind, patient, and knowledgeable, and Henry is clearly comfortable with her. Henry is feeling pretty good overall, even after his chemotherapy sessions. Seeing him do well has been a blessing and has helped reassure me that his treatments are helping. While I understand the prognosis is serious, I feel confident that Henry is receiving the best possible care here in order to extend his quality of life. I'm very grateful for the level of care Henry is receiving and I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone needing Oncology services for their pet.

This single star is too much for Eugenia Nieto, DVM…read more I arrived 10/25 with my beloved Albert, a 15 year old terrier, per a general vet's instructions. He had been ill with a constellation of symptoms. His demeanor had slipped from lively & bright eyed to depressed & disinterested though he still tried hard to keep the daily pace. I was very worried. Albert was the dog every vet in his life expected to live into his 20's. New vets were astonished at his age as he was so lively & energetic AND HEALTHY. He was sweet to all, even at the vet. All staff delighted in this hairy bundle of joy. Marqueen was very busy & Dr. Nieto was clearly harried when she entered the room. She seemed put off. Albert didn't have visible wounds she could easily assess but I made sure she knew I was referred due to Marqueen's ability to fo extensive testing. Nieto gave Albert a cursory exam. She noted he had a scratched cornea (already being treated), claimed he had severe dental disease (he was due for a dental which was never deemed "severe", and lastly, THAT ALBERT WAS AN OLD DOG. I persisted in trying to obtain diagnostic testing for internal issues but Nieto declined. And so did Albert. My general vet ordered an abdominal ultrasound which showed the appearance of an inflamed stomach lining plus a small mass on his adrenal gland. By now Albert had more general vet trips in a few months than he did his entire life. Primarily this was to treat his eye which wasn't healing. He was miserably ill in general, had worsened significantly from Nieto's dismissal, & now would shake at every vet clinic. I held him tightly but he had had enough. He was scared. It was unbearable watching this mighty, funny, hyper, loving little dog displaying pain posture, being listless, losing the light in his once bright eyes. Everyone loved those big brown eyes. On December 22nd I was back at Marqueen with Dr. Choi. She listened. She took action. I left Albert all day for diagnostics & returned in the early evening to discuss results. Dr. Choi came in & I could see by the compassionate look on her face that the news wasn't going to be good. And it wasn't. Albert was going to die. He had many problems. The worst was now the now enlarged adrenal gland with the mass also enlarged. There was also a very large mass in his primary abdominal vessel (caudal vena cava). So large, in fact, it was too dangerous to biopsy. It likely grew from the adrenal mass. Dr. Choi told me to take him home & give just love him. There was nothing that could be done. Oh my god, this is so painful to write... I held on to him a little bit longer but knew it was time to let go. He was suffering but was a little gentleman the entire time. I said good bye on Jan 30th & haven't stopped crying. HE DID NOT DESERVE EUGENIA NIETO'S CRUEL DISMISSAL. SHE CAUSED HIM UNNECESSARY SUFFERING. I've said good bye to many members of my fur family in my life but never due to blatant negligence. NEVER UNTI NIETO'S BLATANT NEGLIGENCE. In my grief I grew angry and called Marqueen to report Dr. Nieto's indifference & negligence. I was told the "manager" is PEGGY OLSEN. She responded with a frigging e-mail, not even a personal call of condolence. She defended Nieto, of course. Peggy Olsen was cut from the same callous cloth as Eugenia Nieto. She wrote a perfunctory "sorry about your dog" line & proceeded to defend Nieto. There will be more to come about this entire despicable, inhumane situation. In the meantime, DO NOT ALLOW NIETO NEAR YOUR PET! Make sure when you go in that you know who is in charge and have their contact info. While you wait (& wait & wait) Take pic of the business license & all other important fix that must legally be displayed. I read that Petulant Peggy the inadequate "manager" will 86 you if you make a public complaint. Well, Peggy, that's fine with me! I've already connected with better alternatives. This is not the Marqueen of yore. I hope the good veterinarians I met and the owner review the persistent problems so that the Nietos & Peggys don't drive them further down. The good doctors don't deserve the fallout. Peggy, on behalf of my little love, I'm giving Marqueen a Google review as well. Rest in Love & Peace my sweet boy.

He had been in a slow decline that suddenly turned rapid, and I knew we were at the end. What stood out most was the veterinarian's honesty. They checked his vitals, but we didn't pursue extensive diagnostics. Instead, he spoke candidly about what he was seeing--neurologically, Baxter was not himself and had clearly lost significant muscle mass. At his age, there was likely more going on than one treatable issue. The veterinarian could have easily recommended a long list of tests. Instead, he gave me real guidance. When I asked what he would do if it were his own dog, he told me he would choose euthanasia at this stage, explaining that "a day or a week too early is better than a day too late" to avoid unnecessary suffering. I had been struggling with this decision for a while, and that honesty helped me feel confident I was doing the right thing. It meant everything. Once I made the decision, the compassion from the staff was incredible. They handled everything with such care, dignity, and kindness. I've also been here before when Baxter was first diagnosed with heart failure, and had the same experience. The veterinarian literally told me it wasn't an emergency and that I could either proceed with treatment there or follow up with my regular vet the next day and save the cost of emergency care. That level of transparency really stuck with me. I'm truly grateful for this team and this office. If you're ever in a difficult situation with your pet, this is a place where you'll receive honest, compassionate care--not pressure to run unnecessary tests or take advantage of a vulnerable moment. Five stars, without hesitation.

My best guess is that when people love an animal and have to spend big bucks on emergency surgeries and such, the frustration bleeds thru to reviews. In life or death scenarios, our emotions run high and sometimes expect too much from people who can only do so much? Nothing about our experience here indicated haphazard or inconsiderate care, for what that's worth.

On the early morning of May 7th, I brought my dog in for labored breathing. After X-rays, the vet determined he had an asthma attack caused by allergies and that his lungs were inflamed. They administered an injection to calm his breathing and sent us home with steroids. However, by 4:00 AM on May 8th, his breathing was still strained, so we returned. He received another injection and a prescription for Albuterol. Unfortunately, the pharmacy process became a nightmare. A local CVS could not fill the script due to technical errors in the way it was written. I then placed an order through Chewy.com on the morning of May 8th. By May 10th, Chewy confirmed they were still waiting for the clinic's approval. When I called the clinic to follow up, I had the misfortune of speaking with Naomi. I explained that my dog had been struggling to breathe for two days and asked why the approval was being delayed. She was incredibly rude and insensitive. When I expressed my desperation to get my dog his medication, she told me that if he couldn't breathe, I should simply "take him to a different clinic." When I told her I was going to bring him back to AEC, she said they were no longer accepting patients today. When I asked to speak to someone else besides her, she placed me on hold for 25 minutes. When I tried to call back three times from my own phone, the calls were sent immediately to hold. Suspecting I was being screened, I called from a friend's phone, Naomi answered immediately. When I asked why I was being sent straight to hold, she stated she would leave me there until she had "new information." I was so shocked with her condescending tone. I even asked if she was hearing the way she was speaking to me, she replied, "Yes, I am," and put me back on hold. After being left back on hold for several minutes, I hung up and called back. Bella answered the phone. She was the complete opposite of Naomi. Bella went out of her way to help me. I told her I no longer wanted to wait for the approval for Chewy to fill the order and was going to see if I could fill the prescription at Walmart. Bella called around to different Walmart locations to confirm they had the Albuterol in stock. Thanks to Bella, I finally have the medication. While I appreciate the medical diagnosis and Bella's help, Naomi's lack of compassion was unacceptable. No pet owner in distress should be treated with such hostility, especially when the delay involves watching their beloved pet suffering. If you bring your pet here, please be cautious of Naomi's involvement in your care. I have seen other reviews talk about an emergency vet in Redlands. I was not aware there was one. I can't imagine returning to this clinic now after the treatment I received from Naomi.

First, she was hospitalized for 24 hours. While there are still some things that I am trying to understand, the IV support made a big difference in her health. My understanding is that this is very important for cats with pancreatis. After going some time without eating, I could tell that she felt better after each treatment with fluids. I have not yet had a follow-up visit with my local vet to check Bastu's PrecisionPSL values. However, from two follow-up visits to CAEC, I can say that Bastu's SDMA values have returned to normal (after she was prescribed felimazole, and successful delivery of that medication for 3 days lead to more severe problems). The spike in BUN values from 21 (before felimazole) to 72 (after felimazole, and then decreased diet to the point of not eating any food) was reversed to 13 after treatment at CAEC (a little below normal, instead of very high above normal). While I am looking into more details (such as waiting to see if my Bastu is capable of returning to normal health) before following the procedures on the FDA website (https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/report-problem/how-report-animal-drug-and-device-side-effects-and-product-problems), my understanding is that my cat has a pre-existing kidney problem. The elevated T4 levels (used to define a diagnosis for hyperthydroidism) represented the body's defense for those kidney problems - high T4 can cause problems in itself, but the underlying kidney problems can also cause additional problems. Thank you very much - while improvement has been slow, Bastu and I certainly appreciate the help within the last week!
