Their policy requires that a patient have someone drive them to the appointment, remain in the waiting room for the entire procedure, and then drive them home. This effectively means that anyone without a spouse, family member, or close friend available during weekday business hours is denied care--not for any medical reason, but simply because they are alone. I'm not asking for special treatment; I'm asking not to be excluded from care because of my personal circumstances. Denying a necessary medical procedure to someone based on whether or not they have a companion is discriminatory and deeply unjust.

My doctor moved to a different office and no one told me, had to reschedule which means 2 days off of work were required. We moved a couple of…read morefamily members from vulnerable populations to South Carolina after the death of another member of the family. This patient hasn't had medical care in years, has moderate cognitive and substantial short term memory issues, and didn't know how to navigate support systems. Dr. Morgan has been helping us identify specialists to deal with his laundry list of medical needs. One of the most important aspects of care, especially with vulnerable individuals, is to treat the patient with dignity and respect. Dr. McKoy addressed our patient directly and has crafted a plan to deal with his issues. He has a care team to support our preparation for surgery and to help our family member and us through the process. I feel like we're in really good hands. One final note. Dr. McKoy is a person of faith, and asked if he could pray in advance of surgery and right then. He paused and offered a prayer in the moment. Why is this important? Haven't we all been seen by a medical practitioner who was arrogant and less than supportive at some point? No matter how brilliant they might be, their demeanor is painful. Frankly, I believe it's critical to have skilled providers who are able to engage with their patients on a human level. Dr. McKoy is an excellent example of such a practitioner.

He performed surgery, and my pain has been gone for years. In the past year, Dr. McKoy has replaced both of my hip joints. He is personable, caring, and a wonderful surgeon and I would trust him to do any necessary operations. He is also a great doctor for accidents to the skeleton that do not require surgery. He explains what has happened to your body in an easily understandable way. Unlike many medical practices I have found the billing office is also competent and easy to work with. Dr. McKoy's medical assistant, Jason, is easily accessible and takes time to explain and assist you as a patient, too.

I told my primary care physician about all the trouble I was having when going to see these so called sleep specialists and she recommended that she refer me to Charleston Pulmonary. After a couple of days Charleston Pulmonary contacted me about an appointment, which was easy to get a date that was convenient for me. I did visit the office prior to the appointment to sign consent for them to get my medical records before my visit. The staff did all the "leg work" getting my records for me. When the day came for my appointment I arrived and was greeted upon walking in. I had to fill out some more paperwork; which is the worst part of visiting a doctor these days. After filling out my paperwork I was swept to the back to a room where I'd wait for the doctor. After sitting down I figured I'd be waiting a while so I pulled out my phone and started playing a game; but before the game could load the doctor was in there. First time I've had a doctor see me on time. Doctor Gunn was friendly and straightforward. He already had all my information and was well informed about my current treatment and made some recommendations to improve my treatment. Overall a great visit.

Also, 2-3 extra ppl will be in the room, regardless of your comfortability for note taking which feels so uncomfortable and not right. Dr. Jennifer Heinemann was extremely condescending, did not listen to my wants or needs, and did not explain options that are ultimately affecting my health. The worst patient care I've ever received in the most vulnerable appt you can be in.

She doesn't take any insurance, so she doesn't have to treble her prices to handle the ridiculous coding and systems put in place by bean counters - where most of your money seems to go to the bean counters, not care. This is a very different type of practice, I suppose you can call it concierge care. The quality, and personalization of the care really reminded me of Europe. You just pay a small fee quarterly - far less than any insurance. This covers how ever many visits and in office procedures that you need. There's no messing around with what is and isn't covered, no games with deductibles - simple no bullshit. How many people avoid US doctors, because of the financial and mental health damage that visiting a US practice can cause? This completely solves the problem and is far more affordable than the normal US way of getting care. Most health needs can and should be addressed by a GP, and with a system like this - it encourages you to visit your GP. She is focused on keeping you healthy - not prescribing the most expensive things she can find. Aside from the ease of this form of practice, she is an extremely good doctor with a highly competent staff. Especial kudos for identifying the onset of shingles BEFORE the rash appeared - getting me on pills that early saved me weeks of agony. It was really easy to make appointments, even on the same day when I needed it. I'm leaving the area, and by far my biggest regret is losing such wonderful medical care. Brilliant. Refreshing. Take your whole family down there and enrol. She limits the number of patients in her system to keep the quality high - so hurry ;-)

I like that they are a part of it because I don't need to worry about updating my information with each individual office or location I go to- they already have it! I get all of my tests, xrays, etc done through an MUSC location. Their online portal is really helpful and easy to use. The doctors at this site are awesome- they truly care about you and will do any and everything to get to the bottom of your issue. The front office staff are all so friendly and helpful from making the appointment, to checking in/out and with any billing questions you have later on. They always get me in as soon as possible, I never have to wait to be seen. No issue is too small to be seen.
