Clam pizza? Interesting but not that interesting. I had scoured Eater's New Haven section earlier that day and seen BAR mentioned for where to get apizza. We traveled into the quaint-ish New Haven core and parked on the street. Luckily, they had just opened, so we were seated upon arrival. We got two pies: the Clam Casino and the Portrait of New Haven. The PoNH was good. The ricotta was a nice contrast to the sausage and red peppers. The Clam Casino was worth the journey by itself, however. It turns out clams on a pizza is a great idea. Large whole clams and bacon with cherry peppers? Damned right. I wasn't familiar with New Haven brand ("apizza" as I've now been told), but the char on the bottom from the wood-fired oven is crucial at holding some topping combinations to a higher echelon than others (where it deflates others): see the other-worldly good Clam Casino versus this-could-be-better-without Portrait of New Haven. Regardless, the Clam Casino would be a go-to if I lived anywhere near here. The inside is huge. We sat in the main barroom. It was warehousey, but a pool table and picnic tables for large parties gave it a cool vibe. I enjoyed watching the bar staff have to hunch under the bar opening, which doesn't hinge up, as we waited for our discs 'o dough.

Duffy's is an Irish American Pub/Restaurants owned by Christopher Walsh. Being a holiday, Duffy's is offering both their traditional and brunch menu options. The dining room and bar is decorated with strong oak furniture, tables and chairs. The historic backdrop is filled on the walls throughout the restaurant of baseball, football, political heroes and of course, a touch of Irish heritage and American pride. The staff immediately make you feel welcome and right at home with their warm demeanor and bright smiles. My Sister had the Brunch Wrap with a side of Home Fries (Sorry no picture) I had to Slow Cooker Pot Roast with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli and Carrots. My one gripe is the beer prices. $9 for a can of Miller Lite is very steep. I get there's overhead, staff wages, taxes, all of that, but a high price for a cheaper beer is a deterrent. When the cocktails are $4 more but you get a decent amount for the drink, that's totally fair. Craft beers at $9 is understandable. But cheap domestics at that level?
