Working with this company was a two-year nightmare I never thought I would wake up from. The CSLB had to get involved and brought in multiple experts, who found that 11 out of 12 parts of their work failed to meet basic industry standards. Only after a 1.5 years long fight were we finally reimbursed to fix the mess they left behind. Here's what we dealt with: * They changed the design of our roof without permission, not only that it looked terrible (photos for reference), but it also leaked. * The floors they installed are extremely uneven - in some spots over an inch off. * Drywall was so poorly done that you can see the tape lines through the paint. * They destroyed a perfectly good sliding door that was supposed to be preserved (and was in the contract). * Used second-hand roof shingles full of holes. * Demolished a wall in the presence of my family and my newborn, without any dust barrier to protect the rest of the house * Flooded our home twice, which flooded our flooring (that they never replaced) and destroyed the ceiling drywall (and tried to cover with paint) * When they tried to cover the roof from leaking, they left sandbags on the roof, which eventually melted into one giant block of sand on the roof edge, creating a safety hazard for kids. When we asked them to come remove them, because it could literally kill our kids, they refused. God forbid you question the quality of their work - they will tell you you're asking for free stuff, they will call you racist, they will call you all sorts of names and insults. The owner Jeff (whose real name is not Jeff, but Meir instead), would call my husband in attempts to strike deals, but then when he communicated with me, he would remove my husband from copy of the emails. Extremely unpleasant, disgusting human being, who clearly thinks he can intimidate women It took two years of stress, intimidation, and fighting, but CSLB finally forced them to pay for repairs or lose their license, which I am extremely grateful for. We were awarded just short of ~$16k, so that should serve you as a guide on how bad things actually are. This review doesn't cover 5% of the experience we have had, possibly the worst decision we have ever made in our life. They weren't the cheapest, supposedly very reputable, but absolutely atrocious experience - most of the work they subcontracted to third party that possibly gave them the cheapest price, and it shows. Save yourself the nightmare - do not hire this company, ever. read more

I honestly believed in their business model of trying to take care of the customer. I was completely wrong. This is a company driven on the sole principle of making the highest profit possible, with absolutely zero follow through. Especially when it comes down to the "pennies" in a project. They "completed" my project And I have had nothing but issues with every single part of the "entire home renovation" I hired them for...it's an absolute travesty. Please save yourself the time and hit someone who is willing to make the corrections on basic construction practices. I have had issues regarding water damage, wood damage, mold, pest control from unsealed openings, lighting, paint, exhaust vent duct connection, bathroom ventilation, door threshold, mirror fixtures falling off, ETC...they wouldn't even settle the contract knowing that all these issues were part of their negligence and trying to make their profit of a 20-30% contract increase. It's truly unbelievable what humans and greed are willing to do for a dollar in the pocket. Stay away from this smoke show of a company. I have never written a review to this point, but that's how disgusted I am with this situation. read more

It is now 9 years later and the stone continues to fall off. We had to replace and/or reinstall a dozen panels that have fallen off due to improper installation. Meanwhile, my neighbor had similar stone work done and oddly has had no "seismic" activity impact their installation. Their contractor did it right. Recently my bathroom had undergone some water damage and after searching the internet for a reliable company to come and repair the damages, I came across U.S. Home Developers. After speaking with them over the phone, they sent over their project manager Daniel who was both very kind and informative. Going over all details explaining about water proofing needed for re-doing my shower. He made sure to go over all of the new layout plan with me and he addressed any concerns that I had. I scheduled a free estimate for my home reno with this company and the office staff were friendly and professional. On the phone, I described general my scope of work and asked if the contractor would be able to provide me with an estimate. I was told that the contractor would come out for the appointment, I would explain the work I wanted to have done, and then the company would provide a general estimate within about 7 days. When the contractor came out, I went over the same thing with him and began to show him my house. When I asked him about the estimate, he seemed annoyed and said that he couldn't give me an estimate because I wanted to remove walls. I explained to him what I knew about the walls (which were structural and which weren't) after which he became very rude, condescending, and defensive. He mocked me, saying that I "asked him for an estimate 20 times," told me my project would look bad if I removed certain walls, talked down to me "said he had been a contractor for 15 years" and became very rude when I suggested we continue the consultation on the other parts of my house. I told him I didn't think it was going to work out.. that it didn't seem like a good fit and then he still wanted to continue the meeting! I had to firmly ask him to leave within the first 10 minutes of our meeting. read more

My wife and I had to have a forced kitchen remodel and living area floor replacement after a leak inside of our condo common wall led to a major mold infestation and resulting remediation. The remediation required the demolition of half of our kitchen. After soliciting several bids via houzz.com, we selected US Home Developers, partly because of our high degree of comfort with the Project Lead, Valko. Throughout the project, Valko proved to be reliable, trustworthy, responsive and professional. He was a pleasure to work with and would happily recommend him should you select this firm. Please disregard our previous review on this company! We hired this contractor in 2014 and were initially impressed. The bathroom they initially built in 2014/ 2015, considering they passed the City of South Gate inspection, was found to be leaking water from the base of our standing shower. We spent approximately $15,000 initially (not including plumbing) and are currently having to redo our bathroom due to severe water damage and their failure to correctly seal the standing shower base (refer to the attached pictures). The plumbing work , which they charged $8000, is also seeping water from poor welding on cooper plumbing joints. BIG inconvenience, especially during state and local social distancing order in place. We've had to dip into our savings and now have limited funds at this time. We're exposing our kids, ourselves, and family to COVID-19 by not having a shower and going out to shower at our family members home. We don't recommend doing business with this company! We've also discovered mold building from the improper sealing. They haven't returned our phone call regarding the noted. read more

US Home Developers - Kitchen remodel - General Contractors Near Me - Woodland Hills, California

On June 11, 2019 we signed the agreement for our balcony project with US Home Developers. At the time, we were very excited about the prospect of having our balcony built within a few months. The project manager who came to see us even claimed that he could build it in 2 weeks, but that would be without a permit and without a spiral staircase. We chose to get a permit because it is required by our City and we want to follow all applicable laws and regulations. The project took longer than expected. Much of that was due to the need to get plans created and get them approved by the city, so I would not fault them for that. That's entirely on us. But even after the plans were complete, it was apparent that US Home Developers took a while to get didn't really care about doing high quality work for us. It seems like they've had little experience dealing with the City or the permitting process, at least for projects like ours. The footings/anchors for the balcony failed inspections from the city inspector two separate times. The USHD project manager constantly complained about how extreme the plans were but this was not mentioned to us prior to starting the project, when they were given as much time as they wanted to review the plans. It also cost me a few hundred dollars additional to get the plans revised, resubmitted, and reapproved. We wanted to have the balcony complete by mid-September, and the USHD project manager assured us that the project would be complete by then. We scheduled our window company to do the window cut-down and sliding glass door installation. Sadly, the balcony was not ready in time, so when our window company came out to our house for that appointment, they took a look at the current state of the balcony and said that they couldn't do it yet, and would need to return later, after the balcony is complete. Later, USHD apparently ignored the plans again, when they installed the spiral stairs reversed and in the wrong direction. I tried really hard to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this seems to be part of a pattern of repeated mistakes. Even worse, the project manager repeatedly called me to ask for payment for work that has not yet been completed, or has been done poorly and requires fixes. When the project manager calls me, he makes it sound like he's blaming me, yet when I ask him what questions they have or what I should do, they have nothing for me. They seem inexperienced and are relying on me to watch them like a hawk and make sure they are doing things correctly. I have to look around at the details, the missing pieces, caps, covers, and things that are not painted. I thought they were professionals and that I was hiring them to do work that I cannot do myself. When they painted, they were sloppy and got paint on our windows, but fortunately they have cleaned that off. They also missed painting several spots, which I will now need to do myself. We selected US Home Developers based on the strength of their Yelp reviews and their claims that they typically do much larger projects than ours, like entire homes. Apparently, they do not care about a "small" project like ours, which cost well over $20k when we include the cost of the stairs. At this time, our project with USHD is complete, but I still need to find a painter for our spiral staircase, our sliding glass door still needs to be installed (by another company), and I would like to have a final city inspection to verify the work. After these things are complete, I will update this review. read more

After Daniel came out and gave us a solid quote on adding a concrete side walkway and for replacing the walkway up to our front door along with widening our driveway, we were very excited to get started. This project also included the rerouting of gas lines, and water lines and adding additional electrical 110 outlets and a new 50amp service. While I was searching for the right property to purchase, a friend of mine recommended that I reach out to U.S. Home Developers for information regarding home renovations. After closing escrow I reached back out to them and started the process of renovating my new property. They sent over their project manager and we went over all of the plans. We then proceeded to the start of my home renovations which consisted of a roof replacement, new windows, new flooring, a full kitchen remodel, an upgraded guest bedroom, as well as a full master bedroom remodel. Was searching around Yelp, hoping to find a construction company that I can get an estimate from. I eventually stumbled onto US Home Developers. I called in and was able to get someone down to my house literally the next day. The customer service was really nice and patient with me lol. I have a somewhat small bathroom sink and wanted to upgraded and add a sand color Granite countertop. At exactly 9:00 am, I get a ring on my doorbell by one of the estimators named Meir. I love people who understand the importance of being on time. So we go through my idea & I showed him my bathroom. Meir gave me a lot of confidence that everything I asked for will be in the price range I was hoping for. I did a lot of previous research & he respected my attention to detail. Work on my bathroom started later that week. The workers who were in my house were always friendly and kept me updated on the progress with of my bathroom. I enjoyed that the most. It gives you a sense of control with the project. As the days passed, Meir was able to address any questions. He was at the job site most of the time & was overall a charming character. By the end of the transformation, Meir & US Home Developers lived up to my expectations. They were able to upgrade my bathroom to something I am absolutely obsessed with now. It's hard to rate construction work, but I can't imagine finding any better service honestly. Joe did an excellent job of our remodel - two bathrooms, kitchen and living area. We have a 1950's home with a poorly designed 1960's addition. Several people come to bid before Joe and they all wanted to do things the easy way. Joe was creative and gave great advise on how to reconfigure our space. He used 3D models to show how it would look, including different options to achieve a better layout. We now have a functional floor plan and cant believe the difference to before. We want to remodel our kitchen and master bathroom. This whole remodel thing feels like a beast. We met with couple of contractors expecting us to tell them exactly what we wanted while we are still trying to wrap our heads around design, material, and various costs that come with this type of work. Joe completely changed how we felt about the remodeling. From the start, Joe was extremely professional - on time, on point, great design, and knowledgeable. Looking at his 3D rendering of how our kitchen could look like made me swoon in excitement. Since we had a lot to talk about, Joe met with us twice, and in the 2nd meeting, he walked us through our shopping list and his written estimate. Not only for myself but for my HOA who has to approve the scope of work to be done. "No problem is what he told me". I spent approximately 40 minutes with him. And I never heard back. I called the office who informed me they do not give written estimates. Total turn off. I never would have met with a rep for this company had I known they were wasting my time. Such a huge disappointment for anyone getting estimates. He was my first contractor to come & he was the highest price quoted out loud. Tom was great with the quote he provided! He was easy to talk to and clear with all his plans for the remodel. Also, out of the three contractors we saw the day we met Tom, he was the only one to take half an hour and measure our whole house. He even sketched, to scale, his ideas for the remodel while he was there. He even sent me some contacts for an Asbestos Abatement company after we found out we needed it.
