I went to Artesia post office today at 5 pm because it is the only post office I know that is open late till 5:30 pm. I was in a hurry to get to the Post office so my 2 large Priority boxes were not taped real good. The lady named Deanna who was at the counter was rude. She told me I have to buy the package tape. I was surprised and told her that the other Post office I went to last month did not charge me for it. She flat out told me you can bring your packages to where you want to go. I was taken aback by her attitude that I could not say a word to her and I needed to mail those packages right there and then. The whole time she put the tape on the packages she was frowning at the packages. She is probably tired from work but I have never seen anybody at the Post office counter as rude as she is. After I left, I realize she did not even remind me about the tracking # that is on the receipt like what other employees always do before I leave. Why do you put these kind of rude employees to work in the front counters? Of all these years that I have been to the Post Office, they are always nice and accommodating. This USPS does not deserve a 1 star! I don't even know why Yelp has this option for placing a star for bad business! 3 Misfortunes with the PO: 1 - When my in-laws left for vacation they had their mail on hold at this post office. I was house sitting with my hubby & had a package delivered here & of course it went to the PO for holding. I went to the PO to pick up my package with the confirmation notification and the person could NOT find my package after 20 mins of waiting. I was told I'd get a phone call back after 24 hours, NEVER did so I waited another day. I went to the PO again and my package was LOST!!! 3 weeks later, it showed up in my in-laws...thanks dummies! 2 - When my in-laws returned from their vacay, they stopped by the PO to pick up their mail on-hold. PO told them they had no mail that came in. How believable is this that they would not have mail, even junk mail for 2 wks?!? My in-laws had to the manager who also said the same so she made them look for it while she was over the phone, but no luck. Their mail on-hold came to their house 2 days later. 3 - I told my husband I did not want to use this PO for our PO box. But he did anyway!!! we have been using this PO box for almost 4 months & no mail has been going here. I finally called the office & some lady asked me, "what are you expecting to get?" My obvious reaction was "MAIL!!!!" REALLY??? what did she expect for me to get in this PO Box, fresh baked cookies?!?!? The lady said she'd call back. Waiting!!! read more

It happened two times, we got registered letter slip we singed and kept to deliver next day 3 days over no deliver went post office they said taken out for deliver came back home no deliver only letters delivered. Next day same problem.. 3rd same problem.. two days toke off... finally went Saturday and collected. Whenever you call they pick phone kept it down no response.. Sometime they say hello how can help you.. When start explaining they will put phone down No responsible people work in this office post office. I wish they can close down. read more

I always have a positive experience at this post office. If you respect them, you'll get the same treatment. These are hard working federal workers that comes in day after day to serve the community. Just imagine the volume of packages and people that come here every single day and I'm pretty sure they are understaffed (always the case for gov't agencies). So put yourself in their shoes and just think what would you do if you're behind that counter. read more

Calling in for information is like pulling teeth from someone. How dare you ask a question or even say thank you and get absolutely no response before they hang up twice on you. There are so many people without a job, if you really hate what you do for a living...get out and let someone else who would be GRATEFUL, take over!!! My goodness sake, two calls made asking passport questions nicely resulted in feeling as if I had done something wrong to this person who is getting paid to answer. !PARKING LOT IS NOT LOWERED CAR FRIENDLY! entrance yes, exit not so much Been having some issues with mail delivery. They keep delivering my mail to other addresses and I get other people's mail to my house when it's clearly addressed to someone else and a completely different address. I just paid another visit to check on a package that I never got which was scheduled for delivery on the 17th but it's the 21st and there has been no tracking update. They told me it can take longer without a ETA. the post master basically told me she doesn't know and can't help me. Very frustrating. That's why I try not to use usps for my deliveries. read more

great location to do your postal activities... it's not the largest post office, but it has a very very helpful staff. they will help you with just about anything postal related. it's a small lobby, so the line could get long at times. one of the best features of this office is the automated postal center. you can pretty much send anything from this. letters, to flats, to parcels. the po box section of the office is open till midnight (i think), so you can do you shipping late and avoid the crowd. there is also a passport service, but i've never used it here. in conclusion? great location, automated machine, great staff... just make sure you get there before the gaggle of ebay sellers do... read more

Very poor phone skills! All I did was call to see if a lost package was there. I didn't blame anyone it's not a big deal to me ( mistakes happen ). Right away he started to argue with me about why do I think it's lost ( umm because of the tracking number email I received) I was still being polite until he just kept fighting over the phone! I had to just say look you're being rude peace have a wonderful day! I know he might have been busy but still he didn't have to be a jerk from the get go. He needs some phone etiquette training . I even asked if it would be best if I went in. I just wanted to know what would be best for them so I could see what was going on with my delivery. read more

Yvonne Morgan gave me the worst service ever! I asked to check on a package she gave her the number twice and she didn't understand. She was extremely rude and slammed the phone on my face. She told me she had other customers and she wasn't going to help me anymore. They should do psychological exams for these people. read more

Stay away! This office is a systemic failure. I have not been successful with collecting mail put on vacation holds (handing me a few days of mail when then hold was for 3 weeks and having to return multiple times until they found it.) or handling change of address forms (having the wrong person's mail forwarded and not fixing the problem after I returned twice to fill out multiple requests). And while your there, it's a crazy zoo with too many waiting customers. Not only do you deal with your issues but then you hear everyone else's problems with the post office. Unfortunately it seems like this area's hub and you are destined to have to work with them. Whenever possible, try another office. read more

I got a sorry we missed you delivery notice for 10/20/2016 I called to have it re-delivered gave them the USPS tracking number waited the next day no delivery so I called the (800) number got a case number was told it will be delivered on the 10/25/2016 guess what no delivery so I called again today 10/26/2016 was told that it will be delivered before end of day its 6:33pm no delivery. The post office received a package on the 10th of this month which was addressed to me--verified by the Smithsonian but as of yet has not been delivered. Today is the 20th! The female clerk refused to investigate or offer any assistance because I did not have any ID when I went to the window to report the missing package which was lost in their building. The Smithsonian had given me the tracking number when I reported that I had not yet received the package. Do they need your ID when they deliver the mail at a residence??? The guy who closes is an absolute asshole. I come in at 5pm to drop off a letter for my boss and, worried that I've missed the collection, I look around to ask if the mail's been picked up yet. This old white guy closes the inner shipment center door and turns his back, yelling "WE'RE CLOSED!! I'M NOT A CLERK!!! " to anyone who approaches the door. I ask quickly if the mail's been picked in and he just says the same thing. If he is employed to simply open and close doors then usps is wasting their damn money. Don't ever go to this post office. In all of my times here, the employees are slow, rude, and show absolutely no customer service at all. This was just the nail on the coffin. Rude old man, I hope one day you will face an emergency and be turned away coldly like I was. It doesn't that much effort to be nice. read more

The worker behind the counter (older lady, had a thick hispanic accent) was very rude. I don't have much experience with using the post office to ship stuff out to various locations so I was expecting some help and some questions answered. I had to mail out three orders for work and what could have taken no more than 20 min max took an hour. I was in line about three times and when she would call the next person she would say stuff like "oh you're not ready yet haha" "go over there and finish that" without giving exact instructions to help me out and no please or thank you. She had such a nasty attitude. Plus the whole time, she kept yelling across the room to other workers and she was so loud with every customer. She was also chewing gum quite obnoxiously. The only reason I give this place 1 star is for the nice man at the automated kiosk who answered some of my questions in a friendly manner. That lady should learn to be friendly and courteous.. Hopefully she gets the hint after her boss notices all the bad reviews she's getting. read more

Yes, I still use the post office :) This place gets really busy when I come around 2pm-ish. I don't usually have trouble finding parking, but the parking lot is 90% occupied when I come. Sometimes it can get so busy that the line can reach the front door. Thank goodness for the self-help kiosks out in the lobby and inside with the staff! It reduces my time at the post office :) Whew! When I do get help from the staff, they're very friendly and helpful. read more

HORRIBLE service. Went to pick up a package that they claimed to have dropped off, but they did not leave an orange slip. Made to wait in an hour long line only for them to tell me they didn't know where it is, but maybe on a truck. They would not dispatch the truck driver and when requested to speak with the supervisor the clerk went to go get her and returned only to say the supervisor was too busy to see a customer? I called the 1-800 number and they rescheduled delivery the next day. They said my package was at this location and they don't know why they could not spend the time to find it. Horrible. I received a notice saying they couldn't deliver my package because it required a signature. So I signed the card and left it on the mailbox. It sat there for three days and the postman just ignored it. Finally, he wrote on the car that this package could not be left by signing the card, that it had to be delivered to a live person or picked up at the post office. Since I work during the day, this was impossible. I decided to go there on a saturday to pick it up. I went there before they opened because they used to have a pickup service after hours by the post office boxes. Of course, now the light is always off so it seems like they don't offer that service except for during the holidays. Because of this, I had to wait and pick it up during the time they were open. When I went there the line was all the way out the door. I waited for about an hour before I could speak to someone. There was an asian guy in charge who wears a dress shirt. Beware of this guy. He looks like the manager. I showed him the card and he came back saying the package wasn't there. I said why not? This is the last day I can pick it up. He tells me, don't worry, I'll take care of it. He then put the card in his shirt pocket. I never heard from them again and never saw the package. Suffice it to say, they probably sent it back to the sender, but of course I will never know what was in the package since they "took care of it" read more

This post office has changed it hours. It use to open at 830am till 530pm now they open at 900am and close at 500pm they also no longer have will call door to pick up packages. I did not know this till this , morning but the person that answered the will call door still got me my package and was very apologetic about the new hours. She said they don,t have the staff any longer to have a pickup door. I really like this post office and I'm sorry to see it understaffed and I did notice a little run down. Just terrible service... A WARNING TO CUSTOMERS WHO SHIP EXPRESS--make sure you see an employee scan your package for 1 day service, other wise they will just let it sit around and do it at the end of the day-- making it get delayed AND making it look like you brought it too late to ship the same day. I took a package early morning at opening for express service and found out later that the first scan on it was close to 7:00 AT NIGHT! This made my package late. I paid $28 to ship it and woke up early just to drop off this important shipment. Needless to say, it was late and had a very unhappy customer. A rude employee (big lady with short auburn hair) refused to give me the guaranteed refund on it and made it seem like it was my fault. I am sorry, but if you cannot do your job to scan early morning express packages than DO NOT OFFER A GUANRANTEED SERVICE at a premium price then slack off on scanning them. read more
