Not necessarily bad people, just the usual terrible USPS service. Paid for certified mail, the tracking system is not telling me where the mail is, want more money for details. I tried paying the extra money and that glitched. Mail was supposed to deliver by Wednesday and it didn't and then delivering Thursday and it didn't and now tomorrow is a holiday so not going to get there in time to my daughter before she flies international. Don't trust USPS, go to FedEx or somebody who can actually do the one job and the only job they have to get mail from point A to point B, my God, unbelievable that they can't even manage the one job they have! read more

I like the convenience of the office from where I live and the lines, at least when I visit, have not been unreasonably long. The Post Office has been steadily on the decline for years. Service has decreased while postage has increased. I have been using the Post Office for years as a mail center for my business. I have witnessed over the last 4 years postage increase as well as box rates increasing while accessibility to your boxes has been restricted. You now have to go i to post office during business hours to access your P.o. box due to rise in theft. I made the decision not to renew my box. I would have made the box close out automatically, but I decided to clear the box out and turn in my keys before month end to collect my deposit. After waiting in that long line ( only 2 clerks at counter). I get up to the clerk and I am told that I do not get my deposit back. I was told that if I return the keys I would get the deposit back. For Mail Centers there are other options that provide more as it relates to service, at a fraction of the cost the USPS is charging. Services such as text and email notification so that you don't have to make unnecessary trips to your box. read more

Like every USPS, it's hit or miss. I've come at all times of the day , I couldn't tell you when is the best time to come. Sometimes you get a line, sometimes you don't. Sometimes the self serve Kiosk works, sometimes it doesn't . Customer service is appropriate, staff does their best to accommodate . They are not about being fast, they are about being accurate. So always bring your patience! Also, expect the mail boxes to be closed/locked around 5pm to match the hours. You won't be able to drop off mail after hours, this was implemented for theft prevention. I've never had a lost package with this location, so that's a plus! And the reason I prefer this location. read more

1/10/23 Another long overdue review! Been coming to this Lakewood USPS for many, many years & they've been fairly good overall. There are plenty other USPS in the nearby cities but this by far has been consistent in 'delivering' the goods. In the past I've mailed very important documents & received them in kind, have gotten excellent results. As far as waiting in line for various transactions, it all depends on each patron, but the postal workers are pretty good at providing the most efficient service possible, friendly too. Perhaps I always expect that there will be a wait so then I don't get too antsy when there's about 10 or more customers in line. There are a total of 3 self serve kiosks that can be used for stamps & quick transactions. Plenty of parking spaces at the front & the side, and the rear. I've been to the Bellflower & Artesia USPS and I prefer this one for it's consistent service & reliability. read more

Food is like home cooking. I have never had a disappointing meal. The bill was not a shock and service was great.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. The only thing is they need more staff support in the front area for holidays or when its gets a little busy. The Post Office is a great place to send packages and cost effective. read more

The Filipino lady in the front on Friday is an idiot! I had a slip for a return that had an estimated weight and she refused the label and had my husband PAY for shipping that was meant to be billed to the insurance company! Now my device is shipping under a label that isn't tied to my claim and is gonna extend the claim! And may possibly cancel it because now they can't track the status of my claim under the new tracking# and may take time to update! I work in logistics and understand how estimates work! Next time pay attention to the customer or at least have us pay the balance that you claim is due! Even though it's supposed to be billed to the account of the recipient you made the shipper pay! The insurance company has an account with USPS, not me! So obviously my rate isn't the same and now I won't get my refund! read more

Good central location in Lakewood but subpar service. I had previously been able to hand cancel letters here but was denied the hand cancel service today (November 2024). Initially, the postal worker didn't even know what "hand cancellation" meant. I had to explain what it was. Later, another employee told me that there is no more hand cancellation, so cannot recommend this location if you would like to make sure your letters don't get squished by the processing machines. If you're just mailing letters and need the bare minimum human interaction, you are probably fine. Depending on the day and time, there may be a line. So be patient and hope for the best. read more

9/3/2022, An employee that I know who works at this post office and who is my neighbor told me last week that come January 1st, 2023 that this Lakewood post office will be one of several post offices which will be closing permanently. It's a means to cut costs and attempts to try to stay solvent since the US post offices continue each year to run deficits. The rumor is that the Lakewood Sheriff's office plans to extend out their facilities and take over the land of this post office. read more

This is not the best post office. The parking lot is a cluster f***. It is always busy. The box that is there for drive thru drop off is a joke. It is often overflowing which is unsafe. Rene is very rude and provides terrible customer service. The post office made a mistake (as usual) and they refused to make things right. I requested re-delivery on a certain date and received confirmation from them. They never re-delivered so I had to drive all the way over there and stand in their long line for them to fix their mistake. After all that, what do they say? The package isn't even there. I refused to leave and demanded they find the package and after 30 mins of yelling at them it magically appeared. Dealing with incompetent people at this office. Twice in one month I have had a package marked as delivered on the website I ordered from and there was no package in my mailbox.

The mail courier on our route will not deliver our mail because we have dogs. We have to pick up our mail because of a "dog hold". Our dogs are properly secured in the home with no chance of breaking out. Might be in the wrong line of business if you are that afraid of dogs. But thank you for making everything extremely inconvenient because the thought of a dog in a home terrifies you. read more

April 7, 2019 Bunch of ass wipes they locked the drive through mailbox with 10 pound pad lock! So besides wasting our gas and time having to drive to deliver our mail due to the lazy ass postal workers.....now we have to drive to another post office. Well let's see how this works when I asked our post man why in the hell are sales ads not being delivered? Get this was his answer....saud their supervisor told them not to waste time delivering the ads? Then the supervisor must of told then not to deliver the mail also I have 4 checks missing that I put in the box on the corner...to date they are missing. We see our mail carriers at late night doing our mail if they stopped fuckn around during work hours they can do it before 5 pm not into 8 pm. So also if we get the ads they use to be delivered by Monday before the ad day I even got sn ad on Friday 3 days after the ad started. No wonder they are closing down so many post offices and getting rid of carriers they don't do their jobs. I see them meeting at places using the post office trucks and we have had new carriers about 4 times a week? So if you live in the 90808 zip your screwed. I try to do as much as I can on computer but sometimes stuff has to be mailed sad when we have no trust in the system. read more

If I could give this negative 1000 stars I would. That said, let me tell you folks, I worked as a Letter Sporting Machine Operator (LSM) at the GMF Van Nuys Post Office from 1980 - 1984 under the supervision of Bill G. who was the Tour 1 superintendent at the time. I've also worked Tour 3 collections and of course on my off-task time was throwing SCF letters and flats and threw 4th class parcels as well. Along with all of this there is getting the bonus-bilts, u-carts and BMC containers ready for the mailhandlers on the dock. Reason for telling you this is to give you the assurance that I know the internal operations of the postal service and the either wonderful or nightmarish place it can be to earn a living, depending on the supervisor and co-workers - but isn't that case at most places of work? I enjoyed learning the three schemes (address groups with street breaks) and being an LSM operator, the $$$ at the time was great and it was OK being in the American Postal Workers Union (APWU), drinking with my work buddies after our shift ended at 7:30 am, oh it was a great time, but I digress. All that said, this past Friday (12/15) there was a young, African-American lady who was working at the first counter to the right when you first enter the clerical section. Her hair was in a severe bun and she wore a surgical mask and regular clothes so perhaps she was filling in for someone or just assisting during a heavy volume of people due to the holidays (there was a line out the door). She was extremely curt, terse, rude? Not sure what the exact word would be to describe her attitude and behavior towards the customers but it was NOT GOOD! I had two 8 x 11 envelopes to go certified mail. When I mail something like this of great importance (these were loan docs) I will usually put a piece of clear shipping tape over the flap along with the brad flaps flattened against the envelope at the top edge so there is no chance of any contents falling out. I was in a hurry that morning so I didn't do this. When I asked her to do this she said "OK but next time you better do it yourself, but I will THIS time!" I said thank you and that I appreciate it. But throughout the transaction it was a bad vibe, a cold demeanor and an overall bad attitude towards me and the others before me which I witnessed as I stood in line. I have friends who were also co-workers that went on to become window clerks and then retired. I know working at the Post Office is a very stressful job, I GET IT! But to the management here at the Lakewood Post Office, if you ever have this woman at the window again, I will personally see to it that Marc McCrery, VP Customer Experience and his boss, Chief Customer and Marketing Office & Exec. VP, Steven Monteith will be sent a letter with a cc to the Lakewood Station Postmaster, Ernesto Rodriguez. I'm serious. I never, ever, NEVER again want to EVER see that b**** at the front counter again. Even with a mask her face and her demeanor towards me and the way she spoke to PAYING CUSTOMERS was entirely unacceptable on every level! Either some serious re-education needs to happen with this young lady or she needs to be fired immediately. I'm sorry if she was having a bad day or if someone close to her died or her pet boyfriend went astray or if Trump ate her homework or WHATEVER, then take the day off! But guess what? If you're having a bad day don't take it out on the people who are inevitably paying your salary. Sorry, but guess what!? We ALL have our problems! Yours is not mine. Get over it and put on a happy customer face. Otherwise, if you can't handle it, get the f**k out and don't EVER talk to me like that or any customer again! It's not only wrong, it's very stupid as well and I have to admit even with that stupid mask on you looked pretty stupid! Yesterday, 23Mar2023, I needed to overnight a letter to Austin, TX. I went to the FedEx office on Lakewood Blvd. Fedex wanted $59 for a 1 oz letter. I was shocked at the price. Also, they weren't able to look up my account; they said it no longer existed. I also checked UPS - they wanted $61 for next day and $96 for early morning (8AM) - that's right ninety six dollars!!! I think they've lost their fricken minds. I ended up going to the USPS (post office). They were friendly; almost no waiting. I used Priority Mail Express (1-day). I just checked and my letter was received in Austin by approximately 1100 local time. The charge was $28.75. Hooray for the US post office! Only issue with USPS is that 800 call center/voice prompt system and online system has issues - difficult access and issues with voice prompt system. But overall a very good experience. read more
