Wow - for days I've been trying to get someone on the phone to ask a simple question before I go out of my way and show up there without proper paperwork. Website isn't clear what I need. BEYOND dissatisfied with this post office. I have scheduled pickups from my location on a daily basis, yet we are skipped on an average of 3 out of 5 times a week. I have emailed, called and left notes for the post office yet there is no resolution. The thing I find most irritating is that they send the pickup confirmation emails as if they've done their job. On the days they DO pickup, our bags holding the packages are taken and not given back. Additionally their bulk pickup is a joke. There is no such thing and when you ask for bulk pickup at their location they tell you to leave the packages on the ground. I am beyond frustrated. read more

The absolute worst post office I have ever been to in my life. Slow slow slow. The employees are RUDE. And there are consistent issues with my mail. When you try to call, you get a message that they are closed (during business hours). Very disappointed with how this USPS dropped the ball on my package delivery. I got a notification from EvenAtom that my product had been delivered at my mailbox on Monday over a week ago and went to check my mailbox when I was back in town no package. No big deal. I ended up having to file a claim on the USPS website since unlike FedEx there is no way to speak to a representative over the phone on the matter which was already kind of red flag. I filed a claim and a few days later I received an email that stated that the matter was resolved. No one reached out to me and still no package or word on what happened. I drove to this location and the gentleman who was handling missing parcels was pretty dismissive and rude and told me that in my email I was supposed to have an attachment in my email informing of their investigation and I showed both emails I received and no attachment that explained how the matter was resolved. He then told me because my package wasn't insured they couldn't help me. No accountability on their part and now I'm out close to $80. The courier could've put my package in the wrong mailbox or even worse just kept it and I'm the one that takes the hit. This has really hurt my trust with USPS. I've had this same issue with FedEX and someone CALLED me, informed me they spoke with the courier and they found my package and I got it expedited to me. USPS lost my package and I had to go out of my way only to be dismissed without even so much as I apologize that happened. Poor customer service. There should've been more effort on their part to reconcile this. I understand mistakes happen but I expected a standard of professionalism and all I got was a can't help you. I do not trust them and going forward I know that I will have parcels waiting for me to pick up from there. It's a shame I can't trust the mail man. read more

Horrible. As with most, the line is 20+ people long at all times. I just came here to purchase an bubble lined envelope and (hopefully) use the self-service machine. All of the packaging I was looking for near the self-service machine was out of stock, so I ventured to the display they had near the counter to use one of those bubble liners. I was able to make it back to the machine when I was yelled at by one of the employees that I had to wait in the mile-long line to purchase it. Ran to cvs instead to buy a bubble liner, and came back to find that the self service machine is completely empty of receipt paper, and stamps, therefore is out of service. It makes complete sense that the line is so long, seeing as NO ONE can use the self service machine. How about you guys get rid of this "self service" area, hire more employees, and make this less miserable? Just a thought. read more

I messed up and put a wrong number on my address. I went to this location to pick it up and the lady at the Dutch door counter was so great. I saw her easily defuse a situation that could have turned ugly. I was up next and didn't have all the tracking information ready so let the lady behind me go in front of me. Again, this lady at the counter was great with her. In turn, when I got up there she jokes with me and said she would do her best to find the mislabeled package. I've never walked into a post office and walked out feeling good. I don't know her name and she wasn't dressed like the others attending the counters in the other room, but felt the need that if they could find out who it was for her to receive some recognition. I imagine that job can be pretty stressful. read more

The people working there are kind, efficient, and hard working. I put kind first, because sometimes they take a little longer with someone who has a problem. I wish I could give a review lower than one star. I've lived all over the country, and I've never once had a package lost or misdelivered. I've had half a dozen packages delivered to the wrong address in the past four months. It's to the point where everytime a package says "out for delivery" I hold my breath to see if it ACTUALLY ends up in my mailbox. This post office is an absolute nightmare no matter when you go. There's a lot of space inside and I've never felt rushed or reprimanded or in trouble. I have never met such sweet postal office workers - seriously, the older gentleman working last Friday gave me a big ol' smile after I simply looked him in the eye to thank him and bid him a good day. It's the small things, people. Lines here can get pretty long, but they usually have 3 or 4 staffers working the counter at all times, so the queue does move quickly. I've never spent more than 10 minutes in line here, which is a small feat in itself! However - if you really want to be speedy - use the self-service station to send letters and packages. It's easy, I promise... you'll be in and out in under 3 minutes! Tip: You'll pay a premium to send packages Priority Mail, but you'll get to use the Post Office's tape to seal the your package. If you choose to buy a non-Priority Mail box, you'll need to buy the tape unless you bring your own. Or, you can always keep tape in your trunk as I do! read more

What's not wrong with this Post Office (or the Post Office, in general)? LONG WAIT TIMES There's ALWAYS a line at this location. You have about the same chance of winning the lottery, being struck by lightning, or singing a duet of "Row, Row Your Boat" with Robert Plant at Karaoke Night as you do of getting in and out of Mockingbird Station in under an hour. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE Once you make it through the line and get to an agent, (if you're not told you're missing some critical piece of paper or information and bumped to the back of the line), don't expect to be treated with anything remotely resembling respect or human dignity (unless you get the lady from New York--she is this location's ONLY saving grace). The agents are unhappy, rude, and will use any means at their disposal to make your Post Office experience as miserable as possible. YOUR CARRIER You can't escape the misery, because even if you don't go to them, unfortunately, they will come to you. These people will bend, cram, and wedge your items into your mail box, and pay no heed to the fact that they may be ruining whatever's inside the package that they are bending, cramming, and wedging. Two cases for your consideration: First, I ordered a DVD from Amazon a few weeks ago. The item was in collector's packaging. The package was delivered to my mail box last Tuesday with a wad of junk mail and nonsense that I really could care less about. Rather than using the larger, keyed boxes at the end of our neighborhood's mail box row, the carrier JAMMED the DVD into the slot, damaging the packaging in the process. Fortunately, the DVD was not damaged, and I didn't buy the item for collector's purposes (it just happened to be the best value, so I bought it). But whether I care about that kind of stuff or not is immaterial. Some people DO care about that kind of stuff. If it mattered to me, it would have caused a hassle for Amazon, the third party I bought it from, and myself o have it replaced. Second, I ordered a book on climate change that same week. The book is quite wide (about 10") and is a soft-bound book. My mail slot is about 6" wide (I think?). Again, instead of using the keyed boxes at the end of my row, the letter carrier bent the book in half, and CRAMMED it into the slot with no regard for the item inside the package. I had to use quite a bit of brute force to extract the book, and managed to tear the envelope while removing it from the mail slot. There was no major damage to the book's binding, and, again, it wasn't the kind of purchase that would cause me to lose sleep at night if it had been significantly damaged (provided it was still readable). But, again, that's not the point. I know plenty of readers who are very particular about their books. A new book bent almost in half would not be okay for a lot of readers. CALLING THE POST OFFICE Say you want to call Mockingbird Station. I've tried a few times. Like today, when I tried to call to complain about the book and DVD. You know how normal businesses will pick up the phone during business hours and, I don't know, help customers? Yeah, apparently the revolutionary concept of telephone customer service has never been introduced at Mockingbird Station, because the phone just rings and rings and rings and rings and rings... you get the point. Today, I let the phone ring for a solid 5 minutes just to see how long they would let it go. Ridiculous. This gives the end user no direct recourse when there's a problem or concern that would ordinarily be quickly addressed by calling the store manager. Nope. Not gonna happen here. What you have to do is call the 800 number, wait 15 minutes for a rep to get to you, and then make your complaint. You get a cause number and a promise that someone at the Post Office will call you to follow up. Right. SOLUTION? Privatize it. I use a private carrier for my business's shipping needs. They are fast, efficient, priced competitively, and (for the most part) friendly. If you have a problem, there's a store manager that you can speak to locally. They answer their phones, deliver your packages when they say they will, and they don't hide behind a layer of bureaucratic whale blubber when they make a mistake. They just fix it. I'm in and out of there in five minutes tops every time. The staff assured me that the wait times would get longer during the holiday season, but they never exceeded ten minutes even the week leading up to Christmas. Why? Could it be that they anticipated higher customer volumes and added staff to handle the higher volume of customers? Novel idea, huh? So, why do we need a Postal Service when there are private services in place that can do the same job for the same amount of money, in less time, and with a smile and a genuine "thank you"? In my opinion, we don't. read more

This place is just fine, I agree with other reviewers. It's a post office and you're mad about the line? Especially with all the cuts in employment and finances, of course they will be under-staffed. I have been quite a few times to buy some stamps or ship a package. I especially like the packing shipping box where you can weigh and measure your box and print out a shipping label for it without ever having to go in line. What an awesome idea! You can also buy stamps and other things from the machine. The couple times I've had to go in line I haven't had a problem. Sure their line is long and sure the people who work there may not the brightest crayons in the box, but have you seen some of the people IN line? Postal employees are the public and the public is also waiting in line. It's not always the employee's fault that the line isn't moving very quickly. TIP: Don't wait until Dec. 23rd to ship your Christmas presents or until April 5th to send your tax return, jackass. read more

I had to drop by and pick up some packing supplies (not too expensive compared to HEB) and come back to mail them off. Two different people I encountered were very nice, eerily friendly even. Being a novice to shipping, I had a few questions to ask and I never once got an eye roll or a sigh. Granted my visits were in the middle of the day, but I never had to wait in a line. Have to agree with the crap reviews for this location. I got a notice at home saying I had a certified package waiting for me at the post office. Notice said to come to the quick service window to get it. I get to the quick service door, noticing that the sign says it's open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. so I think "how nice". After knocking and ringing the bell for several minutes a lady opens the door and tells me to go around to the long line and wait with everyone else. But the sign says the door is open until 7. "We don't do that anymore" she tells me. Well don't you think the sign should be changed then? So I get in the long line with all the people who are mailing packages and several people with slips like me who just want to pick something up. One lady several people ahead finally gets to the front and is told "Oh you should be in the passport line if you're just picking something up" And lucky for us, the passport line is snaking around the corner and just so happens to be literally 2 feet away from the quick service door that is no longer used. I know the U.S. post service has a bad rep for being rude and incompetent but really guys, come the frack on. You close the door that was specifically installed to get people in and out quickly so that you could merge that service with the passports counter which is a mere two feet to the left and which is notorious for taking the longest of all the services? In what screwed up world does that make any tiny bit of sense? read more

I have had good and bad experiences here. I always go in EXPECTING bad service, because I have had it. My problem is with my carrier. He ALWAYS loses my mail. Plus he ran his little truck down the side of my husband's truck. (which I can't prove because we didn't see it, but the markings match the bumper height and the guy always makes a U by my husband's truck) This makes year #3 that my daughter's birthday gift was lost because this guy is too lazy to put the package on the right door, or needs glasses. read more

Probably the slowest service in Austin if that is possible. there are some really bad PO in Austin, why I have no Idea. I would only go here if I absolutely have to. Otherwise I avoid this at all costs. I have been in there (not for long), and pulled a ticket numbered 76 and looked up at the "NOW SERVING" sign and saw the number 23. WHAT THE F**K?!?! Count the number of agents manning the service desks....2...WHAT THE F**K?!?!?....OK...turn around...drop ticket...perform rapid exit...find anywhere else more sane.... Best to go there between the hours of 6-7 PM only. This is the least busy time even though there are still only 2 agents. read more

I have had nothing but issues with this location. On several occasions I have scheduled packages to be picked up at my door and the mailman did not come. I reschedule a pickup thinking it may have just been a mistake and low and behold it happens again.. 3 DAYS IN A ROW. After I have lost faith in the individual who delivers/picks up packages, I decide to take my packages straight to the source.. the drop boxes located inside. I pay for priority shipping and drop it off at EXACTLY 4:59 (pickup for Dropbox is 5pm and 11am). I watch to make sure it's scanned and accepted.. I wait until the next day after 11am... Still nothing... THREE DAYS LATER, it's scanned.. I HAVE PAID FOR PRIORITY 2 DAY SHIPPING NOT PARCEL SELECT. USPS is unreliable and makes business owners look bad because THEY are not doing their jobs properly. Thank you for yet ANOTHER AWFUL experience. read more

Thanks to a certified letter I was FORCED to return to this awful place. This time I was lucky, however, and able to go at 10am on a Tuesday. With the exception of some guy getting arrested in the parking lot, it was a pretty slow day at the post office. I only had to stand in line for 10 minutes, which was great since I am 7 months pregnant. When I made it to the counter, I handed the man the card that had been left in my mailbox by the MAIL CARRIER informing me that I had a certified letter. The dude at the counter looked down at it, looked at me, and gruffly said, "Uh, I can't read this, I need your ID." Not that it would be appropriate to speak to a pregnant woman (or any other customer) that way, even if they had written out the slip, but this was something written by a MAIL CARRIER!!! So no need to blame me for his inability to make out the address. These assholes really need to learn that politeness goes a hell of a long way. read more
