I like the downtown post office better than the other ones there's a bit of nostalgia that goes with it being the building is historic looking and everything the staff there is always friendly and takes care of business in a timely manner when the line becomes a little long This post office is a little further than what I would like but it is the best location to go to when I want to post office to go outside of my regular on Pegasus Road. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS POST OFFICE IF YOU WANT TO SUCCESSFULLY SEND MAIL OR PICKUP A PARCEL! There is a gentleman working there who is usually fairly reliable and a young lady who is anything but so you essentially have a 50% chance of actually completing your business. If I get the young lady, I know I'm not accomplishing whatever it was that I came in to do. Most recently, I came in at about 4:25 PM to pick up a package that they had already failed to deliver, waited in line for about a half hour only to get the young lady. She told me I would need ID in the last five minutes before closing and locked me out of the building when I went to get it. Not exactly accommodating, and bizarre because it makes the job harder on the business's end, not mine, they're the ones who will have to make another attempt because she could not be bothered to do her job. I wouldn't want to keep someone like that on my payroll, as it is a net negative profit and reputation-wise. Imagine if I had been picking up something medical or legal in nature, it's just a liability to keep someone like her on your staff. I shudder to think of the real world consequences that this disinterested employee's lack of professionalism could result in. read more

After standing in line for 15 minutes at another US post office location only to be told that I have to buy a $3.99 roll of tape to seal a box that I brought from them, I told them forget it. I'll come back after I tape my package at home. Of course, I came and looked for another branch and I am so glad I did. It was around 5pm on a weekday when I got to this location and parking was not too bad. The building really looks nice with that downtown feel that I couldn't help take a photo lol. I was the third in line, similar to where I was from the previous location but it did not take me 15 minutes to wait. I think it took less than 5 minutes from waiting in line to completing my transaction. A plus was the staff were really friendly and helpful. Would be going to this location from now on! read more

I do not recommend this post office i accidentally dropped an envelope not ment to be mailed into the stamped box along with my mail and asked for them to grab it for me, they said they looked and it wasn't there but I know it was. Updated review! Six years ago Sarai had some sad postal workers to deal with but present Sarai has had several fun (yes I said fun!) experiences here in the last months. Each attendant will helpfully and warmly assist you as well as bring the chit chat as they get your business taken care of. I'm not a big chit chatter, but I do like being acknowledged warmly and engaged with politely. Still not a ton of shipping supplies out such as the flat rate supplies which are free and parking is minimal. read more

This is a very convenient location for the downtown crowd. There is street parking on the corners of the street. They have recently limited their hours due to extra visitors from the street, aka vagrants. I've been here twice now and only return out of necessity. The interior is clean considering the age of the building. I had a parcel to return and the postal worker literally threw my package to the side. I've never seen anyone working at the post office do that before. They usually walk the package over and then place it down. No matter how disgruntled the stereotypical postal worker may be, there really is no excuse for that kind of attitude! read more

Zero stars. Two trips to this post office to finalize my out of state PO box. They could not get their fax to work. Instead of calling another post office to explain what I need and send me there. I was unable to get the process completed as the paper has to be faxed from the post office. Complete waste of my time!!. And now I have to request my money back because the post office services in Bakersfield are INCOMPETENT. read more

I have been to the 18th St office a few times. Each time I have been greeted by friendly and helpful people. On one of the visits another clerk opened a window after I had been waiting for a few minutes. I was waiting only because the first clerk was patiently and kindly listening to an elderly customer and answering many questions. I did appreciate the clerk who opened the window and helped me but it was so nice to see someone be so kind and patient with another person. I came here just to deliver a package. The line was about six people long. They had two cashiers and one staff attending to the people who where there to pick up packages. My over all wait was about 10 minutes. Good customer service and clean post office. read more

Lots of people like to bemoan the U.S. Post office, myself included. The jokes about the lack of speed as well as the reliability have been the joked about for eons. But time and time again I use the post office (specifically this post office since it is close to my work) and am always pleasantly surprised. While i admit that the wait times during peak seasons (Christmas) can be daunting it is worth it. I recently mailed a small package to Alabama. total cost was under $4 and it was delivered in roughly 48 hours (priority mail) and I even got tracking information with that. 3,000 miles in 48 hours for cost of a cheeseburger? Yes, please. During the holidays we send gifts (usually Dewars Chews) to friends and family alike, to include Ireland. While it can still take a week or two to get to its' destination, we have yet to encounter a problem. read more

Located in downtown Bakersfield on the corner of 18th St. and G St. Hours are M-F 9-5. Closed on Sat & Sun. There will usually be 3 clerks on duty when I've entered the premises. Line seems to move faster than the other post offices in town. There are a couple of large mailboxes located in an alleyway behind the building. It's easy enough to drive to them and drop off the mail. That's all folks. read more

As much as I like some of the employees here, the service is like sloth slow. Granted, people coming in for service are just as slow and clueless, but when there's 12 people in line and only 2 people working while 2 others switch out their cash drawers, things get a little pathetic. I reserved a PO Box for the first time ever online. I paid for it with my credit card and followed up with a visit to complete the verification process. It took only 5 minutes from beginning to end.
