I genuinely rarely leave a bad review anywhere but this one sat with me for a while. On May 15, I was notified that my package was "out for delivery". A little over an hour later I got another notification that it has been marked "returned to sender". I don't live in a gated community, there's no code required to enter anything, and my house is 20 years old so it's not like I'm in a new subdivision or anything. I got off work at 4 PM and went straight to the post office to see what happened. The lady at the desk had me write down my tracking number so she can see which carrier it's on. She informed me it hasn't arrived back at the post office yet, but they should be returning around 5 PM so she'll give me a call when they're back to come pick it up. At 5 PM I get a call from a woman named Patricia Armstrong. She said my package has arrived back at the post office and if I wanted to come pick it up from there then I have to pay a $16 fee. That's double what I paid for shipping originally. So I asked her why my package could not be delivered, and why is there an additional fee for having to use my own gas and vehicle to pick up a package that I already paid for shipping on? I was given no reasoning for their failure to deliver my package, and she said that's the redirection fee if I want to pick it up myself, otherwise they will return it back to sender and I can replace my order and have the new one redelivered. I'm still confused why my order wasn't delivered. I have double checked my address and everything on the order invoice and everything was correct. read more

The cumulation of the experience I have had with this Post Office is positive. They are serious about the maintenance of ethics in their service and are very matter of fact when issuing out their protocols. That said, this doesn't mean that the result always leads to what I, and I am sure others, immediately desire in response to our needs, but they do deliver effectively as they are able. Today, they have gone above and beyond in locating a misplaced package for me and I am beyond grateful. Seeing that they do what they are able to do under their guidelines and with respect to both their workers and public service patrons has improved my perspective. I thank you Millwood USPS. After reporting the incidents to the US Postmaster General, a few days, earlier, I was contacted by USPS Customer Services Supervisor, Kendrick Gathe, on January 21, 2021. I was saddened to hear him cover for "Clem", the employee who literally cursed at us, claiming that she has never had such problems, in the past. A quick check of reviews on this site proves quite the opposite. Clem is a disrespectful terror to USPS customers who, for some reason(?), knows that she will not be disciplined by local management but rather, protected. Mr. Gathe further covered for Clem by suggesting that we knew her and the other gang members before the incidents, and, he made a ridiculous suggestion that, if we want to do business with the branch, we could visit at a special time when he can escort us. First, we had NEVER met those people before encountering their horrendous behavior at the Woodlawn US Post Office located at 4700 MILLWOOD DR BATON ROUGE, LA 70817. As for his suggestion that we visit only at a special time under his protection, we question Mr. Gathe's professionalism and sobriety. Such an action could be understood if we were dealing with a Zoo, not a USPS Post Office! It is painfully obvious that he is unable to objectively/disconnectedly perform his duties vs Clem and her cohorts. As of mid-to-late March, Clem is still working at the USPS location with no disciplinary action taken. Seems like the problem is with management as well as employees. We can't help but wonder why!?! read more

Downloaded the Yelp app JUST to make this review, as this is the second review I've ever left. Ever. It was so bad. I received notification that my package was undeliverable and was being returned to sender. I understand things happen, so really wasn't super frustrated. So of course, I attempted to call and call the Post Office to confirm if my package was still at the facility so I could go pick it up. The phone rings and rings, no answer. So worried I'm going to have a super late Christmas present- I get off work, fight traffic and get there with a 20 minute drive. Only to have the rudest customer service. The lady barely even acknowledges me says to stand in a different line and yells "Next". The guy comes up and says it's not back to the post office- but he wouldn't even look at my tracking number or any information to just check to see if it was. This had been hoursssss earlier. He just said to come back later around 6:30/7 or tomorrow. I told him I had been calling to just ask if it was available and he said "I don't even know the phone number here" so clearly they just don't give a and don't answer the phones. I got a half ass "sorry" with no eye contact. This is the reason why everyone hates dealing with the post office. Update: I was told earlier to come back, because the "return" shipments that can't be delivered come back around 6:30/7pm or tomorrow. So I come back at 6:45; just in case I need to wait. When I get to the desk, I explain that I was told to come back to pick up a package it should be there. That I spoke to customer service, (since they can't answer a phone at the facility), and was told that they hold onto the packages for 2 days in case someone wants to pick up at the location. The lady on site was so incredibly rude, I was beside myself. She said no those all went out at 4pm today (it was set to deliver today, so they don't hold on to packages as to what is stated by their department). 4pm was BEFORE I came earlier that day. So when I came there earlier, had the guy actually looked up my information as asked I would have been informed. Vs wasting MORE time trying to find this package. She still wouldn't look up my tracking number, after numerous times of asking she said quote "You want me to waste my time to look for it". I am absolutely appalled at the service at the Baton Rouge location. Now my very fragile present I bought as a Christmas present, as a special order that was shipped to arrive specifically before Christmas, is being sent back and has to go back thru this entire system. The shelves for boxes weren't even filled in the anteroom so I had to go into the actual service lobby (y'all knows what I mean IF YOU'VE EVER GONE TO A POST OFFICE). Anyone, even some of these were empty. All the V prices that were posted for the boxes were outdated (I know, I use these boxes). Get your act together folks! read more

Great experience. Went in to talk to a supervisor about missing packages. They had three registers open and the guy that helped me was very kind and helpful. He took all my info and personally walked it back to the supervisor instead of buzzing them multiple times and making me wait 30 minutes like the last place. The supervisor was very understanding and kind. I didn't get the cashier's name but it was a bald black guy about 40 ish. Someone get that man a raise!! read more

If you're looking for speedy, friendly service i recommend going elsewhere. This branch is outdated, and the staff is unprofessional.

I understand that it's the holiday season and the staff is bombarded with customers who are trying to get their mail out at the last minute, but I think the mail clerks can be a little more friendly and professional. Not to mention, if you say you're going to do something, you should stand by your word. One of the clerks (short blonde fade) asked me to finish labeling my mail outside of the door since it was after 7pm, and when I'm finished, she would get it from me. When I was done, I knocked on the door and she yelled "We are closed! We are leaving. We have been here all day." Well you should have never said you would take the mail from me. Keep it 100 and say it won't be mailed out until tomorrow. It's that easy. read more

Very rude staff Went inside and noticed my letter I wanted to mail out was lifting. The associate was ignoring the 4 ppl standing there aNd you could feel the attitude radiating off her, I tried greeting her twice and she did not speak back. Then I asked for tape she slammed a glue stick on the counter. I said thank you she did not speak back . I even waited a second. I went to this post office on the morning of Saturday, December 19, 2020. The women there were very unfriendly and unable to complete the simple task of handing me a form 6401. They did not look or try to assist me and just said "we don't have one of those, you have to do it online." As a former postmaster, I know that is not true and the clerk went on to yell over my head, "can I help the next person?!". I said, "ma'am, are you just going to ignore me?" and she said I don't have that form again without even trying to assist or being polite. I told her I'd go to another post office and won't buy what I needed to......horrible, just horrible service! I asked our carrier not to speed through our office parking lot at lunch when I walk around our complex. She got a nasty overly aggressive attitude with me and said she watches where she is driving. If I could give this Post Office no stars I would have. My 85 year old mother went there to find out why she was not getting her mail. It's been over a week since her last delivery. The manager for this station started belittling her. When she called me about this her voice was shaking. What kind of person does this to a 85 year old women? I mailed a parcel with gifts and photos in it from this location. I waited in line to mail it from the counter, but the girl 'helping' me took me to the lobby and got postage from the self service kiosk and then took my parcel away. She gave me a receipt, but I did not know there was no tracking number and now the package is lost and I have no recourse because the girl did not mail it as a trackable package. And when I went to the Woodlawn post office to inquire about it the lady told me it was my fault for mailing it as a letter. I did not choose the option and did not know what the worker who helped me did. These ladies do not seem to care at all. If I could give this place no stars I would. These people are plain out disrespectful and rude. I never get my mail when it says delivered anymore. When my bf went up there a while back he was going to pick up my package for me. Well he was trying to ask a question and the lady had my package in her hand he said and she slammed the door in his face because he didn't have a package slip. I mean come on. How rude is that and just disrespectful in general. So I call and the lady gives me a attitude from hell and so I'm pissed off and tell her how I feel and would like to speak to a manager or someone higher up. Apparently her response was she is the supervisor and needs to go because she didn't want to be at work till 11 at night. Wow. So no help and she had to go..... I cannot believe that. So then this happened again over the weekend and I call to see if I can come pick up my packages and apparently they are not there anymore so what does that mean??? Someone stole them. I'm sure being a mail delivery person isn't an easy job but for the life of me I can't figure out why this branch finds it so hard to deliver my packages. One in every 4 or 5 deliveries get "lost" causing me to take time off from work to then go to the post office. On one occasion I waited 20 min for a supervisor who never came out to speak to me. My package was never found or delivered. The second time I had to go up there, they took my number and assured me someone would call. They never did. I called back for three days, never speaking with anyone who could help me. Every time they'd take my name and number and tell me someone would contact me. Two days later my misplaced packages show up. Today, I have two separate delivery confirmation emails and zero packages. This is utterly ridiculous, particularly since I've had to complain about lost packages before. The most they tell you is "We're sorry" but make no moves to accommodate you for the package THEY lost and you're screwed out of money for. If there were any way to completely avoid this post office, I would. Even if it means paying more for S&H. read more
