I'm leaving town today and I've used this post office twice. My first experience came with a little…read moreattitude but no biggie. My second experience however, involved a tall gentleman who refused to give me my package without a tracking number. I told him that I had my ID and an email saying that the package had arrived but no tracking number and he said that there were too many packages and that he couldn't give me a package with just my name. So, I went outside to collect my thoughts, clicked on a couple extra blue lines of text and found, all those significantly more difficult than usual, my tracking number and found a black lady (Clarification because I don't know their names and the white lady from my first experience was innocuous but a bit rude) sitting behind the window when I returned. The black lady was polite and efficient. I told her that I was looking for a package in general delivery and she asked my name and then she proceeded to spend literally no time in the back, simply reaching through the door and grabbing the correct package and with no hesitation as if she didn't even look at the other packages and she didn't even ask for my ID, let alone a tracking number. I'd like to leave a positive review for the black lady but unfortunately the tall man got in my way. I told her that I might not get around to writing this review and that she was great but she should know that her male coworker is a "dickhead." She either didn't understand what I was saying or with held her glee at my complains about her coworker because she agreed, because she asked me to write this. So, this is for her. Hopefully she gets a promotion and puts her coworkers in check so someone else can give her the glowing review she deserves.

However, the Westerly PO manages to open and Charlestown does not, even when it says it is online. Mail delivery has been terrible for years and is worse now. It's often 5 days or more between mail deliveries. No truck goes by and no mail is picked up for days. Never mind the old PO motto "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds". I remember when mail was delivered to your door 2x a day. Now we're lucky if we get it at all and often it's someone else's mail delivered to my address. And if you ask a question, a snarky retort can be expected. The worst!

I recently had to renew my passport and I had gone to a different post office and was told to go to…read morethe Southampton branch. Apparently, they can deal with passports more efficiently at this branch. I had picked up the form previously and had it filled out. I presented it to the clerk, he checked it, then told me I had to have my picture taken which was done quickly and within a few weeks, I received my new passport. It was done very expeditiously and is a real time saver. If you need a passport or a renewal, pick up the form in advance and fill it out to save time. I would recommend this post office to renew, getting an original passport or renewing an expired passport. When you start the process, make sure you have the correct form [provided at the post office] for what you need-a renewal form for renewing a passport, etc.
