My fourth Riding Wild retreat (Cornwall England) was once again a wonderful experience for me…read more I rode three different horses on this trip, and I'm so grateful for how calmly and safely they carried me. My gelding, Alfie, and I were particularly close, and I'm grateful for how he reflected my strength and confidence back to me in every situation during our journey. I was reminded again how important it is not only to reflect on your weaknesses but, especially as a woman in a patriarchal society, to embrace and live your mental and physical strengths. Aniela, the fantastic team and co-facilitators at Cabilla Cornwall--who pour their heart into their service--have helped me to reopen lasting inner and outer connections. The divine yet grounding food and sound healing reminded me that all facets of nature are within me. I'm taking all this valuable beauty with me from the retreat. It is all within me. I'm already looking forward to my next Riding Wild journey!

I strongly caution anyone considering a horse adventure with Riding Wild. What was advertised as a…read morebeginner-level excursion was anything but beginner-friendly, and the way this experience was organized and handled was deeply concerning. The horses did not appear to have been appropriately vetted for a beginner group. During the very first outing, a participant was injured, which should have immediately raised serious concerns about whether the horses and experience were suitable for the advertised skill level. These were not horses that beginners should have been placed on. Neither Riding Wild or Equine Connect had any form of first aid to assist the injured party which resulted in the participant being concussed on the ground for over an hour. What is equally troubling is the lack of transparency surrounding the experience. The owner represented that Riding Wild had a partnership with Equine Connect, but we subsequently learned that this representation was incorrect. That kind of misrepresentation is especially troubling when customers are relying on the stated experience, affiliations, and qualifications to determine whether an activity is safe. The experience we received did not match what was advertised. A beginner excursion should be designed around safety, appropriate horse selection, competent guidance, and realistic expectations for inexperienced riders. Instead, participants were put in a situation that felt poorly planned and inadequately managed. Horseback riding inherently carries risks, but that makes proper horse selection, rider matching, honest advertising, and responsible oversight even more important. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Riding Wild, anyone relying on the company's advertising to determine whether they are booking a safe and appropriate experience. What was promised and what was actually delivered were two very different things with riders never given the the opportunity to have a deepen connect with the horses - there was no opportunity to groom, to tack or untack the horses. Very disappoint in the experience.
