Kyle at Brea Post Office just gave me over-the-top excellent help trying to calculate the cost to box and ship a package. I'm not a shipper, so this is completely foreign to me. After spending over an hour on the usps (and related) websites, I was completely frustrated, and found nothing helpful at all to determine what the cost would be. This is how "going postal" happens! I came to the conclusion that it would have been faster to drive to the post office, buy a box, bubble wrap and clear tape, label it, have a clerk weigh it, give me a price, and risk having the FB Marketplace buyer saying nahh. Last desperate cynical effort, sure that I was wasting my time, I called the Brea PO. Kyle answered, and helped me way more than I expected!!! They keep sending my mail back as insufficient address when the address is correct. I have paid postage three times! Thieves.

I'm pretty disappointed, I've been shipping my items here for years for my eBay business. They we're impeccable with all my items before until recently. I know hiccups happen with the post office, but what's frustrating is they lost not 1, but both packages I shipped out on April 3rd. Tracking number 9405509699939853025390 and Tracking number 9405509699937420980776. Both departed Brea on 4/3 on the scan, but disappeared after that. It stated in transit for the past 8 days. Keep in mind these packages are a Ferragamo designer shoes and a Jimmy choo women's wear totalling up to $600+ in value. I shipped it by USPS priority mail, but can only get $50 for claims. I got an apology letter from the USPS email, but that just set me back especially on tax season. Ive spoken to several reps on the USPS side and no one seems to know where my package is. What irks me is that there is no accountability on their end. Both packages shipped to 2 different locations suspiciously vanishes after it departs Brea and no one can locate it? It's been in transit for over 8 days not counting the day I shipped it. I feel that the post office has failed me on this one unless a miracle happens. Other than that the only message I get from them is that I'm pretty much SOL! This is absolutely unacceptable service. Update: today my customer received his package but no shoes. I'm fucking livid. So the USPS delivered my item but they stole the contents inside? I don't know who to blame, all I know is that I dropped this at the Brea location. So apparently there's a thief in there somewhere. This is just fucking great! Thanks USPS for fucking this one up for me and now I'll have to do deal with a eBay claim getting filed with my customer. I did my part but the USPS fucked up. Asking politely at the front desk for help, they were eager to take all of my packages back for me. I've only had two times of waiting in line, and their number system is fabulous! Take a number, sit down, and in moments they call your number! Who doesn't love to sit while you're waiting in line? Next, this is their biggest bonus in my eyes. TWO AUTOMATED TELLER MACHINES! TWO! I'm in love! Walk in, do business, walk out! Super fast way to handle all of your post office needs, including but not limited to stamps, packages, and PO boxes! This PO is super clean, and big! We made an appointment for passport services. Super quick. No line. No one else waiting. Passport cameras down but we had our pictures. Learned they take walk-in appointments. There was a young gentleman on the Postal Service side that was super helpful to the many USPS customers. Helping them fill out paperwork. Taking drop off boxes. Basically keeping things organized and keeping the line as short as possible. Super helpful to everyone! I wish every post office have someone like him. read more

I purchased a postal office money order ($750.00) at the Brea Post Office on Birch Street Thursday, March 29th, 2018. I reside in Yorba Linda, and live less than a mile from that location, but was unable to purchase there as they close at 5pm, which I missed. Brea was open until 530 and is about 5 minutes away, so I decided to purchase there. I purchased the money order approx 530-535 with the only clerk at the counter (she was at the station on the far end away from the door at the wall) ... now keep in mind, I purchase postal money orders regularly as I live in Yorba Linda, work in Los Angeles (near USC) & have a longtime PO Box in Cerritos .. so this situation is pretty normal for me as I buy them to secure investments from a broker .. on this occasion, I was asked for ID .. I show her and she says that she needs to pull it out to make a copy. I ask why, she is not giving much of an answer, she goes to the back with my debit card and ID and comes back approx two minutes later to complete the purchase. I then press her for an answer and she states something with regard to collectibility as sometimes they cannot collect money for money order purchases. I ask, with a debit card where I'm using my PIN?? I advise that this is irregular as I've never had my ID copied with my debit card on a purchase for a postal money order whether in Los Angeles, Cerritos, or Yorba Linda. She advises that maybe I purchase at Yorba Linda, I advise that they close at 5pm, which is why I am here. The purchase was completed, yet not without me feeling uneasy even the next day, as I have been a victim of ID theft on multiple occasions - from having credit cards and debit cards copied and used to having Federal tax returns filed in my name and state returns filed in places I've never lived and had to clean up. It's hard to imagine that this is the process with every money order they sell. One would have to stop and take ID and debit card to the back hundreds of times a month. This is the post office for goodness sake, means they'd do this thousands of times a year. How efficient can that possibly be???!?? It's not reasonable to even consider such a consistent practice. I am African American, and this entire scenario left a very bad and uncomfortable taste in my mouth, even the next morning. I believe the Asian American clerk racially profiled me. More than the process itself, her evasiveness to my questions raised some red flags. Copying IDs/Debit Cards cannot be legal. (Edit): Seeing a similar scenario unfold in a midwest city actually confirms the fact she racially profiled me, which definitely makes me sad, angry, and feeling helpless knowing I was going about my business as anyone does and the fact I was subject to such micro agressive treatment. Went here with my family to renew and get new passports. Rose was amazing and so patient with my kids, especially when taking the pics. We had a lot of applications to submit and she was so helpful and did whatever she could to expedite the process. Forget your preconceived notions of a post office. I drove 55 minutes to this post office during rush hour traffic on a Friday afternoon. Rather than dropping off my 4lb Parcel Post package at my local USPS location, I came to this one in hopes that my package could be delivered overnight on Saturday delivery to a business address just 2 miles down the street. Unfortunately, the package will not be delivered until Monday morning. Parcel Post is a slow processing service regardless of the immediacy of the package's destination. read more

Basically they told me I was out of luck. I would never recommend this post office to anybody if you care about the package making it to where it's supposed to go. I drove for 30 min to get to this place this morning. It was SO worth it. I came in to get my passport done (already had my documents, app and pic). Got here around 8:50 am, second in line and was done by 9:30 am! AMAZING! I appreciated the excellent customer service and how QUICK the whole process was. I tried going to the Buena Park post office to get my passport done there but was missing some stuff, not so great customer service and it was small. The brea post office is the way to go! Made an appointment for our daughter passport the older lady with the lonnng nails up in the front. Was a little rude. First by telling us to sit down.. that we don't all need to be there two seconds later calls me back to raise my baby to her. Payed expedited so that her passport would be here on time. And because she was so rushed with us missed a few of the question from the application.. which mean I won't be getting it in time. I'm not to worried about it. But... if you make an appointment just make sure you go into the little room where they sit down to help you. We just payed expedited for no reason. read more

I've come to this post office several times over the past few years since it's down the street from where I work. There's two convenient drop off mailboxes at either end of the parking lot. Inside the office is a little run down and could use some sprucing up but all the employees I've encountered have been friendly and try to help you get in and out as quickly as possible. They have a self service kiosk and plenty of PO boxes in the lobby. They also provide passport services at certain times. This place will get your mailing needs done. (26/100) read more

As my local post office.. even if i didnt like one of the clerks there...i believe regardless if she feels the same way or not.. your job is to do your job. This post office looses about 30% or more of my packages. No one is held accountable. When you call the only response is 'well maybe delivered to the wrong address' -- you think??!!! That are they kept it (like the recent news story). This is a constant battle and seems NOTHING being done. I have a locked parcel in my apt and they will even put the key in the wrong mailbox!! Thankfully they open Saturday's the only day my husband can come. Never had such a wonderful atmosphere like this one, unlike the other locations who already gave you such bad attitudes the minute you walk in. I just felt strong about giving positive reviews at how pleasant and helpful those two guys were, wished I had their names so I can give them a full recognition. With one exception, this is the friendliest and most helpful Post Office I have ever used. When I walk in the door, I can almost feel it when Carly is on duty - she is so cheerful, kind and engaging. What a wonderful human being, and her customer service is excellent! I'm also grateful for Mark, who always greets you with a smile and is obviously happy to help. The big and glaring exception is Nancy. She is rude, unhelpful, and unable to respond to any pleasantries at all! She should be replaced or retired, as she is obviously counting minutes that she has to be there. I work in Customer Service and I agree that people can be difficult at times, but she starts each transaction with a glare and an attitude that will sour the most pleasant experience! I will let other customers ahead of me, just to avoid dealing with her. I'm just sorry that Nancy's attitude finally pushed me to write this review. Very frustrated! I filled out a card to have my mail held. The card was returned to my mail box at home the next day. Then I took it back to the post office and told them what had happened. They apologized, took the mail hold card again and assured me they would take care of it. The next day the card appeared in my mailbox and mail has been delivered every day since. There are two things that I love about the Brea Post Office: 1) This is the first Post Office location I've come across that has a Passport Office located on-site. They not only have the capability to take your application, but they can take your passport photo, too. It makes the process of getting a passport much less of a hassle this way. You walk in and sign a waiting list hanging on a clip board on the wall near the designated Passport door and it usually takes less than 20 minutes to get in. It's so quick, you might not even have time to fill out the forms. 2) It feels like a small town post office because you take a number and then wait sitting on park benches inside instead of just standing in a line. How nice when you have a heavy box you want to mail. Sure, it don't make the time you're at the post office any less, but at least it's a more pleasant experience. read more

Their Passport service at this Post Office location sucks. There is a sign stating: "Sign in and ring the bell once". DO NOT BELIEVE IT. Just ring the bell 10 times and bang on the door until someone opens the door. What's the worst thing they can do to you? NOTHING!!! I was there on Wednesday and being a perfect citizen I followed the sign. I was sitting and waiting for 30 mins. So I was on the phone and waiting until someone else came and they also signed in. I was looking bottom of the door and the light was off. I was like hmmm interesting. I was looking at the hours and it said 9 to 2. So I was waiting with the other people wondering how long is going to take. So I decided to bang on the door and no one answered the door. The whole time the postal office guy was looking at us and didn't say anything. Other couples started to ring the bell like crazy and the postal employee asked "can I help you?" She asked "is someone in there?" He said that he would page her. After 10 mins, she opened the door and asked "can I help you?". I gave her my passport application I filled out at home. She told me that it will cost $110 and I forgot to bring my check because I thought I could use my credit card. She told me that I need to get money order and someone will help me. Again no one helped me and I was waiting there for 5 mins until this postal employee helped me. They processed my application, photo and money order and I was done. This is why Post Office is going to be out of business. Over paid federal employees with crazy pension with horrible customer service. Worst experience ever!!! This is why UPS and Fedex is going to be the future. Unions need to end and fire lazy fat people. read more

WHAT! You can review post office's? awesome. here we go. Ok, this post office I have mixed feelings about. There is always a long line: because it is the only post office in all of brea. Come on United States, put another post office in the city cause it is sad when someone's number is #99 and they are only on #70 in the que. seriously. But at the most, they'll have 4 people working. They should really put more out since they know and anticipate this is a crazy busy location. I give it one star for the lady who is ALWAYS in the right side in her cubicle. The one with the big gray hair. You know who I'm talking about. because yes, she ruins it for everyone. She is so unpleasant and SHADY! Obviously, I've had a bad experience with her. If you want to read about it, continue on: I was mailing a huge box to hawaii. It cost me like, $40 bucks or something. Being her usual rude self, I tried to be nice and make conversation. But she wouldn't have it. and as I walked away, I got a really weird feeling about my package not arriving to the location. Sure enough: the package never arrived!! The delivery confirmation said it never even LEFT brea! but it couldn't be located. MONTHS later, the package turns up with the address label completely ripped off. Ugh. Ok, I know that is kind of outrageous to accuse HER because it is against the law to tamper with mail but what the heck?! How and why would that have even happened? I have never had any problems like this with mailing packages and I've mailed a lot of crap over the years. SO, they totally tried to pull this ridiculous deal on me that if i wanted to resend the package, they were going to make me pay the $40 dollars again. That is so ridiculous. Especially since the label was ripped off, how was I supposed to know what was wrong with the address if the label wasn't even on there. Even the supervisor thought it was strange. Anyway, it is really unfortunate that lady is so mean. I don't know her name. You gotta wonder what happened in her life to make her the way she is. But I seriously try to avoid her at all costs. I always hope and pray that she does not call my number. The other day, I did get called by her and I just picked up a package, I didn't even give her the 10 packages I had to mail cause I didn't want them to never show up again! A little paranoid? I have to be. If you've had a good experience with her, PLEASE message me. I'd love to hear about it. -------- I also just don't like how some of the other clerks here are so dishonest to people who do not know about mailing things. A lady had to mail some kind of paper to Los Angeles. She asked the clerk what the best method was to get her papers there quickly. He gave her the options: Priority mail which is $5 or Overnight mail, which is guaranteed and costs $25! Priority mail is advertised 2-3 days but let's be honest: if it's going only 15 miles to LA, it's going to get there next day! Jeez. But he kind of lead her to believe she HAD to send it overnight and YES: she paid $25 to send a piece of paper to LA. She honestly didn't know. Jeez, just drive it! well, it's her own fault for paying. I honestly think she could have sent it regular mail for $1 and have it get there the next day. I guess you never know with the post office. But hey, that's another $25 the post office just made. on top of all their ridiculous price raises in postage. (but that's obviously not this post office's fault) ---- To end on a positive note: Xavier + Lee are really nice and helpful. Mark and Steve are cool too. This post office is fantastic, the epitome of how best practice and solid customer service can make even the most ordinary of workplaces extraordinary. It's always crowded but each time I've never waited longer than 5 minutes. They have an efficient number system and plenty of benches so you're never in a queue, they ask you intelligent questions to best understand what service you actually really need, and best of all, they do everything with a smile and a sense of calm only found in those who truly like their jobs. I went here to get my daughters passport. The website AND the sign on the passport office said they were open till two on Saturdays. We got there at 12:50 and were told we could not go to the passport office that day, even though there were no customers in front of us. I asked why and was told they do not accept people an hour before they close. When I pointed out that it was not yet 1 PM the woman told me that they had already turned three people away. I said that had nothing to do with me and that the website and their own office hours stated that they were open till two. She said that they had a policy that people had to be there before 12:30 -- a policy that is not in written ANYWHERE in the building -- and that we would have to comeback even though there was an agent in the passport office and no customers waiting to see her. Basically, these people are lairs who will say any BS that pops into their heads in order to avoid the job they were hired to do. Honesty -- it was clear as ice that the woman was coming up with any excuse she could conjure off the top of her head not to allow us into the passport office -- I'm not one to write harsh reviews but this is entirely merited and will be followed up with a call to their manager because we are traveling out of the country this summer and have a deadline to get our passport that is now adversely effected by their lackadaisical altitude. I have been a resident of Brea for 20 years. This post office has the most unprofessional staff EVER at the front. There's an Asian lady who never smiles and if you ask her a question she doesn't acknowledge you and just repeats what she says. The other day I asked about a box and instead of telling me where it is she points to a general direction and yells NEXT for the next person. She's been there too long and needs to go. There's another old lady with giant frizzy hair who acts like you've slapped her mama and she has it out for you. So rude and unhelpful. And one of the rudest (he used to be nice but I think he's been there too long that he doesn't realize he's a service provider to the public) ones is the guy with the 72 rings and goatee. This place is like a mortuary. If you hate your jobs so much, go away. We don't need to deal with your terrible personality, rude behavior, and unprofessional attitudes. The saving grace at the front is Carly who is kind and always has a pleasant demeanor and warm smile. Perhaps the rest of these rude people can learn something from her.
