I don't have the displeasure of going to the post office much these days with the Internet and the ability to print postal stamps and other postal material on your printer but sometimes a visit to the local post office is necessary and today it was necessary.This particular post office in Greenpoint was empty so I was able to get stamps and a few money orders quickly and the clerk was actually nice and polite which surprised and scared me at the same time .For my quick and uneventful visit to the post office I am giving 4 stars and no I am not intoxicated. read more

This is by far the worst USPS office I've ever visited. I went there o inquire about a package that has been lost for a week. I arrived and the place was empty and I was the only one in line. I brought the tracking numbers and I just wanted to know where the package was. The clerk (the one with blue hair) didnt even allow me to finish my sentence of "I just came to check a package that has been lost for..." when she yelled "You have to wait until it arrives". When I explained to her that it has been over a week since it was lost she yelled again in a sarcastic tone "You have to wait until it arrives". Happy to pay more elsewhere for efficiency and competency. My local driver straight up said he would not be delivering my goddamn packages to me, in front of his manager. Avoid this Post Office if you're sending anything of importance. They are unreliable, unable to assist with delivery issues and refuse to process refunds for Money Back Guaranteed services like Next Day delivery. Disappointing that I can't rely on my neighborhood's local Post Office. I will be using a different location in the future. I mailed an important time-sensitive check with Next Day Priority Delivery on Dec 11, 2024, guaranteed for delivery on Dec 12, 2024. 1. It was not delivered on time. 2. The tracking information failed to provide accurate information because the letter was not scanned properly by USPS. Upon visiting this Post Office to followup on its status on Dec 13, no one could offer help or insight on its whereabouts. The Post Office refused to refund me the $31.75 postage for this Money Back Guaranteed service. I had to drive 3 hrs away on Dec 14 to hand deliver a new check to the recipient since the Post Office failed to deliver it 3. The recipient later called me on Dec 26 informing me that they finally received the original mailed check. The USPS tracking info however still did not display a correct status of its delivery. 4. I visited the Post Office again on Jan 2, 2025 requesting a refund and spoke with clerk and thejr supervisor. They again refused to refund me for this Money Back Guaranteed service because they could not confirm its delivery given their errors in handling this mailed letter. The failed delivery, poor service at this Post Office and their inability to take accountability for these errors is shockingly disappointing. Learned the people in front of me had been waiting for almost three hours. 45 minutes in and one of the women at the desk announced that she was JUST informed by the manager that the passport person had called out sick. If you want to maintain your sanity, avoid the Greenpoint Post Office. This is the second time in a month that they have closed early. They either close early or you wait in line for 45 minutes. Dante forgot to add the Greenpoint Post Office to his Circles of Hell. There really should be ten---this is the place where all Etsy/eBay/Discogs sellers go to die. Speaking of Hell, do I need to remind you of the lack of air-conditioning in the summer? Greenpoint PO does have a couple of solid employees, but I'm sure they'll get transferred because that's what always happens at this location. The turnover is unbelievable. This office is a disaster. I can't believe this is affiliated with the federal government. I've never had more confusing experiences and threatening experiences at any other USPS location in the whole country. I am routinely yelled at here for no apparent reason and for following all procedures and protocols exactly, and I'm often told to leave the lobby and come back at another time when the office is supposed to be open?. Today for example, I arrived at this location at 11AM to scan in a priority mail package, and the office supposedly opened at 9AM; I was yelled at, like I did something wrong, and told to return at 11:35? None of this seems to make any sense; It would be nice to know that someone was managing this location, but it doesn't seem like anyone really cares. Would it be so hard to just clean this place up and train a couple employees that do not not yell at customers for following the rules? Several of the clerks here seem as though they need a psych evaluation, because I have been screamed at here for following the rules and not doing a single thing that you would yell at someone for. went here a few days ago - and honestly all I have to say is I really hope the women who work here find employment elsewhere where they are happy. I have never seen customers be treated so cruelly and with open disdain, and seen employees who clearly hate their job and assisting people. They also have no tape, or pens or sharpies to borrow, this is a post office?? Why would you not have these things. No one is to blame for long lines or wait times, it's just busy here so expect to wait for a long while. I have been shipping things out of this post office for years- and have always used the self service kiosk to avoid the lines, but every time I have dealt w the employees it's been truly a day ruining experience. So rude, so unhelpful, I do not understand how you can treat people like that. I really hope these employees quit and find their happiness instead of taking it out on greenpoint citizens. They also try to close early, or do whatever they can to just send people away and not deal with them. They go out of their way to not provide service. Skip this spot- ship literally anywhere else. I've lived in the neighborhood for 2+ years and avoided this post office because I've heard terrible things. I witnessed completely unprofessional and unacceptable treatment of a customer while in line. The woman was trying to locate a package and the female clerk told her "I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS." The customer calmly asked, "Ok, what should I do? Is there a phone number I can call?" The clerk replied "I DONT KNOW WHERE YOUR PACKAGE IS." It went on and on like that. Another customer told the clerk she was being rude and the clerk said "MIND YOUR BUSINESS." This clerk needs to be fired and work digging graves or something because she is incapable of interacting with people. When it was my turn in line I brought my official USPS box up to the counter and they told me they didn't have any tape. This is a post office. This is a place that sells boxes that need to be taped. The woman helping me said to fill out my paperwork and come back to her window. I patiently waited for her to complete the transaction with the client ahead of me. There is something systemically wrong with the USPS. Every post office I've visited in my life time, have poor service. Is this a requirement to work for the government? When I entered the post office , the line extended near the exit door. I needed to ship a package that had a prepaid label. All I had to do was hand the package to the clerk and get my receipt. To my surprise, I saw people placing their pre label boxes and envelopes into a clerk's work area. I didn't want to do this because I wanted a receipt as proof I shipped the item. As I waited, I wanted to see why I'm waiting on a long line for 20mins. Low and behold, it was only one clerk working ! Seriously, at least have respect for the people waiting and let us know what's going on. Perhaps we would be understanding. Also, the clerk could have apologized to the clients for the long wait. This office is typically chill and there are some employees who are very kind. However, this morning around 10am there was an awfully angry and negative woman in booth 4, closest to the front window. She kept angrily saying "next" and had such a nasty attitude to everyone but especially to the next person in line who was elderly and likely couldn't hear her well. It was very upsetting to witness and the other employees looked uncomfortable to be around her. It would be a great relief if this unprofessional, sad and angry employee didn't work in the front with customers who are just trying to send mail and go about having a nice day. Customers who come in are not responsible for the bad day you're having nor do they deserve to be a punching bag you can abuse. I took my 2 children here to get their first passports. Our appointment was at 9 am and I believe we were out the door by 9:30! The employee was helpful, patient and organized! This post office should have been in Seinfeld. They really do not GAF. The staff in the actual location are fine, but getting your mail delivered to your address? Who can say for sure.... maybe it will end up there. Maybe it will be tossed on the floor of the building foyer along with mail for all of the occupants in your building. Maybe it will be held for a week and then all come on Sunday. Maybe you'll find your packages behind your trash can. Maybe they'll pretend you're in jail and open your mail for you. Sadly, this is the one thing that is a drag about Greenpoint. I've lived here for 23 years and dread the possibility of having to use it. A claustrophobic outpost, the employees are behind scarred plexiglass, no doubt installed in the time when Greenpoint was a much tougher neighborhood. Therefore there's a lot of raised voices trying to communicate on the antiquated intercoms. The place is generally dirty and unkempt. There's usually an uncanny shortage of whatever materials you happen to need- forms, Priority Mail envelopes, etc., and the bin where you can post letters of small packages is invariably broken. The self service machine never seems to be working. There's not even a mail slot for standard letters. Which means you'll have a lengthy wait as there's always a line. And then there's the attitude of the staff. There's too many stories I could tell, but many of the folks there seem determined to make a transaction as difficult and unpleasant as possible. There used to be a woman who was so notorious for her hostile and inept attitude that knowledgeable customers would give up their turn in line and wait longer in order to skip her. I don't envy a post office gig, it's real work, but there's some bizarre karma about this place. No one there seems remotely happy. I go out of my way to use other post offices where there's actually some expectation of decent service and attitudes. They do exist. read more

I live 3 blocks away but I go to the one in Queens by my job and I figured I live here let me start going to my local post office. Worst idea EVER! I waited for almost 40 mins-- they only had one teller on duty and when it was finally my turn I need stamps and they only had Christmas ones-- seriously at the end of Jan! this is insane. Yes, there is usually only 1 person working the window - 2 if you're lucky, but the ratio of workers to customers, and the speed at which the line moves is similar to any other post office in the city. As far as the workers go, there are a couple who are outstanding and should get a gold star. Even though the waiting sucks, once you actually get up to the window, they take whatever time is needed to help you out without making you feel rushed in any way. I see this amount of care with every customer, no matter who rude the person is or complicated his/her mail situation. To echo other reviewers, the main thing that makes this post office unpleasant are the customers (i.e. our fellow neighbors) who go in with an awful attitude, ready to pick a fight with the workers, and making it known to everyone around them how annoyed they are to be waiting in line. Most service level government employees are terrible but these ladies take the cake. First of all make an appointment for a passport. Then get there and see a sign that says wait in the regular line for passports. What was the point of the appointment. We arrived 15 minutes early for our appointment and have been here over an hour and not been seen yet. There are different crafts just like every other job, carriers and the window people are completely different, managers and supervisors have different positions too, yet people love to yell and demand help on something they have no control over because they are the ones that receive backlash over what your mailman or truck mail man do. Common curtesy goes a long way. Ask for the supervisor and deal with someone who can actually help because window people have no control of anything. I find it very amusing when someone yells at the girls and then the person gets mad when they respond The same way. it's just a glass separating you from the person, they know your address, make sure you keep the same energy, it's just a job, now being disrespectful is never tolerated, we are all human beings, we need to speak to each other the same way you would to other people. you have to remember in there their is a huge diversity of races and us customers tend to be demanding because we paid for our packages, but there are rules, we all have to follow and they are just doing their jobs. Let's hope people read this and hopefully it opens your eyes and that post office is a reflection of they home because the same way you leave it messy, the same way you must not care about your own home. read more
