I've come here twice and have had such lovely experiences. I was helped by two different women and both were so incredibly nice and helpful.

Reviewing a post office feels silly, but there are so many terrible reviews that it feels worth weighing in. I've only ever been here for simple tasks (mailing packaging) on weekdays, but it has always been pleasant. Short wait to see a teller or use a self-serve kiosk, polite staff, and a clean and spacious facility. At least one clerk was fluent in Spanish when I was there, which is a huge help to customers who aren't comfortable with technical language in English. Note: it is NOT accessible to wheel chair users - you have to call a number for "accessible access." read more

I went to this post office to submit a first time adult passport application, as I hadn't had trouble at this facility previously. This time, I arrived on time for my scheduled appointment, which I had to make online a month in advance due to limited availability. After waiting half an hour I was informed by a worker that passport applicants would not be seen until there was no line for the regular postal services (the passport services is a separate line although both are serviced at the same window), because apparently it was too busy, even though at times there was no one in line as one person was leaving while another was busy addressing an envelope. I was the first in line for passport services. There were two windows open so one worker could have helped me while the other continued assisting the mail services line, it made no sense whatsoever. Another family was behind me, they had an appointment scheduled for 30 minutes after mine. Meanwhile about 20 people were helped for standard mail services while we stood there waiting. After another half hour I asked again when someone would be able to help me and the worker said "I don't know". I asked why they bothered to schedule appointments if they had no idea if/when they would even be able to help me. Given the reasoning that they had to wait until no one was in the mail services line, I might have been there all day. Finally after an hour I gave up, I didn't want to get a parking ticket AND have to pay these people a $35 servicing fee for the privilege of standing in a line all day for a 10:30am appointment, so I left. I got home, called the Queens County clerks office (didn't want to trust any more post offices!) and got a same-day appointment. Went in and got everything processed in 15 minutes that same afternoon. I'm never going to this post office for anything again. They said they were always shorthanded but it still makes no sense that they would make our line wait while everyone in the other line got helped immediately. I suspect they were lying and no one was available with the training to process passport applications, that's the only thing that would make sense. read more

Don't come to this place unless you have a prepaid postage for your package and just need to drop it off. The lines are long and slow; even when there is no line it is still slow. If you have a prepaid postage on your package then there is a self-drop off blue box on the right side (right behind the lines for the windows). The only times I have come here are to drop off my packages. Again, I HIGHLY recommend buying a prepaid postage and just coming here to drop the package off in the blue box (that way you won't have to deal with the line and wait). read more

Read the negative reviews about the staff, specifically Melissa. I told someone at the counter that I had 3 packages being held at the office. I got redirected to Melissa, who was rude and rattled off that my building's address has not been verified, that the packages would be returned to sender and are only held onto as a "courtesy," and that the pick-up days are Tuesday and Thursday. When I asked her if she could repeat the info / if I should come back on Thursday (or if the packages had already been returned to sender), she got noticeably irritated. Also, the USPS website says that the LIC office's pick-up windows are 9AM-5PM, Monday-Friday. On Monday, July 8, I generated a Click-N-Ship label online, printed it at home, and then visited the USPS Long Island City on 21st Street to procure a Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium Box. I affixed the prepaid label (tracking no. 9405503699300698916415) and inserted the package into the post office's drop box in the lobby. As of today (Friday, July 12), the package has not shipped. If I had known the in-store drop box is not regularly checked for outgoing packages, I would have waited on line to hand it over at the service window. Since I've been unable to swing back by the post office again this week, and there is no way to call this location directly, I've opened a USPS service request via phone and am posting this review in the hopes that the LIC location might address this inquiry directly. read more

Incorrect hours posted. Shows that they allow passport walk in hours Saturday on their website. When you walk in - they say you cannot and the website is wrong.. The woman was disgustingly rude - wouldn't listen to me advising it is posted on website and have a family Emergency. This post office is an embarrassment they rarely deliver packages to my address ,saying that they can't leave it in a safe place,well if they bothered to bring it to my door it w be left in a safe place with me, then they lie saying they left a note when they never. The staff Melissa who was working there on 3/19/2022 around 9:50am had an altitude and did not want to serve customers. I am not the only one who was refused to serve by her around that time. For me, she refused to take a drop off package even when the self checkout machine was not working. She literally said "then it's not working" and refuse to do anything. She even went to the only other staff working at the window at the time and made sure the other staff also would not take my package. She also told me that they never take drop off packages, which is not true. I have been going to this usps office for more than two years and every single staff except her takes drop off packages. Self checkout machine is an option for the customers, not a requirement. What's more, she even cursed me and made disgusting facial expression that I can't describe. This person is not worth having a job. If her manager sees this comment, I hope you take this seriously and fire this person. I was nervous to go to this location because of all of the bad reviews, however after my pleasant experience I felt compelled to right one. I worked with Susanna Who is very patient kind and helpful. I had a couple of questions regarding the shipping of my envelope and she answered each one and helped me through it together what I needed. I also observed other representatives Helping customers and they all seemed helpful and efficient. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this location. Thought it was a decent location but the service was absolutely TERRIBLE. We were made to wait for far longer before we were helped (and everyone was pretty irritated about it), and the workers there were not the most knowledgeable about what type of mail you needed to send. I was told one thing by one person and another thing by another person, when all I was trying to do was send a piece of tracked mail to Canada. I literally thought i was going to die here, we waited so long. If you're trying to get a passport at this post office, you're better off not traveling out of this country. I'd suggest for you to cancel your trip to the Bahamas and just stay put on your couch and watch reruns of Head of the Class for 3 days straight. When you step into this place, you are officially cut off from any information, kind of like a prison. You don't know what time it is, and sometimes you lose track of where you are. We waited so long without any update, I actually wasn't even sure what I was doing there - i thought my son and i were just chilling in some random building. The only good thing about this post office is if your beer ever gets warm, come inside and it'll get ice cold within seconds - i don't think Federal buildings have the modern technology of a thermostat. I came here 3 different times to renew a passport- each time I was sent to different windows and each time someone told me a different thing. The staff here are the nastiest people, if you're a person who has an accent from a different country they will be extra rude and racist. They have no clue about what they're doing, no urgency, no idea how to do their job. Everyone here needs to be fired because they don't deserve to have a job with good benefits. The wait time to pick up mail is the worst. This is the main office in LiC since both closed that were on 43rd street and the one at Queens plaza. The structure of the building is very nice. But the people waiting online are always angry. They have passports here as well but the hours I believe are till 2pm. The lobby is open on Saturdays but only till 1pm. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL! I scheduled several delivery attempts all of which were failed. I escalated the complaint and was expecting a call from a supervisor. I happened to miss the call and they never left a voicemail. I called back to get in touch with the supervisor and a NASTY woman who just started working there didn't know how to transfer me, so instead she kept hanging up on me and refused to allow me to speak to management. She also refused to leave her name - I would recommend listening to your recorded calls from 4:00pm onward on 7/24. This woman sincerely deserves to be fired - truly disgusting. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Also - still don't have my package and all scheduled delivery attempts were failed. I highly recommend firing your incompetent staff and hiring individuals with a bit of class and good work ethic. I walked in here during lunch and didn't see any machines to buy stamps. In my mind I was preparing my Yelp review and going to say how machines are so much faster than humans (they really are; I loooovveee robots!) but honestly, there were three windows open and I was in and out in five minutes. I was there specifically for my passport and came to learn there was only 1 window for these applications. So of course, came a long line that made you question if time was actually moving or not. I've lived in the postal code for almost 5 years and I have yet to get a package notice left on my door. If they even try to delivery the packages (they claim they do, yet even when I'm home I never hear the buzzer), they never leave a slip showing that they've been there. The only reason I even know there's a package is because the shipper has sent me tracking information. It's been a continuous problem. They also go through a constant stream of new mailmen/ women and the building keys are never passed along for mailbox access. So we're constantly getting buzzed to let them in (funny, they can find the buzzer in that case). I specifically tell people not to send anything to me via USPS, terrible service. read more

So I'm writing this so people would be prepared as I wish I was for applying for US passport. 1. Come early. As they stop taking applications after a certain time (usually noon) as they have so many applicants to process and need to finish by 5p. 2. There are no bathrooms. Don't drink and eat prior. 3. Kids will be running around and/or crying. 4. Come prepared with applications, they do charge $15 for passport photos but come with the mindset you're going to wait for hours. That's just how it is. Keep yourself entertained w headphones. Despite the long wait, I had a pleasure to deal with friendly employees who were patient and pleasant to deal with. They have a hard and thankless job so I wanted to make mentions of Robert, Trauvan and Oshel, despite the nasty patrons they were patient, kind and accommodating. I think I just left the Twilight Zone. After reading the reviews about this particular location I was rather reluctant to attempt coming here on my lunch break. Since it's a known fact that postal employees aren't the friendliest or fastest when it comes to service, just to be on the safe side, I took a late lunch. When I arrived, there was a greeter sitting near the entrance. Though he didn't greet me, he did enthusiastically help me with what I needed. He even walked me over to one of the clerks. The postal clerk was very specific and helpful when giving me instructions on how to fill out detailed documents. He was even more friendly when I returned to his window with said documents completely filled out. As I stood at the window and waited for him to process my transaction, he attempted a joke which was actually quite funny. When I giggled at his comedic attempt he responded by saying that he didn't think I heard him. And then, and then, he actually laughed himself...out loud. I was at this location for just under fifteen minutes and got everything I wanted to accomplish done. Amazing. read more

This location has a racist and lazy female clerk. She refused to give me my package despite the fact that I had a valid drivers license and the Missed Delivery notice with me. So I had to Uber home and bring my passport with me, and she still refused to give me my package. She kept asking questions like "is this your package?!", "is this you?" You have my passport with my name and picture in it dumbass. I overheard her say something to her manager about my foreign name. Her manager/supervisor stepped in to make me go away saying "the package is international and not in the system." So I had to show her the USPS tracking page on my phone which said the package is at that location ready for pickup! So she goes and finds my package but doesn't give it to me until after she runs a bunch of errands. Extremely disrespectful and neither of them seem to show any kind of sympathy or remorse. It's quite upsetting to run into a USPS clerk who refuses service to people because she is xenophobic, and then see her manager go along with it. What's worse is that both of these ladies were of a background which has been historically discriminated against. But here they are these two, spreading the same menace. read more

I have gone here on Saturday, Friday afternoon, any day of the week and have not had a bad experience. The only time I waited more than 5 min was when a customer was asking 100 questions. Melissa refused to serve me. Went here earlier this year. I have a disability and she told me I had to use the self-serve kiosk. I told her I tried and could not get it to work. She then went down to each co-worker telling them not to wait on me. She then yelled at me cupping her hands around her mouth demanding I do it myself. Due to my disability I struggle a lot. When it was my turn in line she jumped to the teller I was going to goto and told them not to wait on me. As I was trying to explain my situation she then just ignored me and pretended she couldn't see me or hear me while telling other customers to go ahead of me. First review ever on here. Wow this location sucks. If knows how to file a formal complaint against the USPS, please let me know. I called the office of this location because my mail wasn't being forwarded, even though I put on the system for it to be forwarded. The lady that picked up was extremely rude and kept me on hold for 30 minutes. When she finally re-picked up, she was surprised I was still there and immediately placed me back on hold for 5 seconds. After realizing I wasn't going to hang up, she repicked up and asked me for a contact number to call back regarding mail forwarding. I asked her if she needed my address or a name too since she hadn't even asked me for this yet. She immediately got an attitude, said she couldn't help me, and hung up the phone. After this, she refused to pick up for over an hour. All this over "do you need an address"? What happens when the government gives ultimate job security. I get numerous packages everyday and usually it goes through here or in the queens location. If I track my packages and it shows Long Island City, I already know that there's 90% chance it won't come on the expected delivery date.
