Quality/Quantity - This must be one of the largest, if not the largest, post office in Carson City. It is huge! My pictures do not do it justice. Ambiance - Huge location, including the parking lot. Service - Okay. Mostly self service. Well today the line was crazy long?!?! See pictures. Open 5.5 days. Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm; and on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. They are closed on Sundays. Services available at this location - Financial services (money orders, etc), passport, pickup services (mail hold, etc), business services, biometric services (fingerprint, in person proofing), etc. Price - Affordable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1971 (formed in Washington DC) with your $80B in revenue. Much controversy about your profitability or lack of it. The worst post office ever. Here 20 minutes before they open, 3rd in line. They open 3 minutes late. They start with 1 clerk to help people and another at the desk but weighing mail. Maybe they should do that in the back when there are 20 people waiting in line. Finally another person comes to help. Both clerks in the back for 10+ minutes. Apparently they can't find what customers need. I've lived in Carson City for 5 years and EVERY time it's a similar experience. read more

I WENT TO THE U.S. POST OFFICE IN CARSON CITY, NEVADA 6/18/2025 waited in line for a postal worker finally got to my the workers station(?) and explained that I had not recieved my mail and that I also needed a new key as mine was faulty. We are a financial institution. We depend on the USPO to get required documents to our clients and back in a timely manner. The deliver guy for our route only shows up half the time. We have items to mail almost every day. The just sit in the outgoing box for days before he picks up the mail. We have made numerous complaints and are just told the situation is resolved by Dan McLaughlin. Nothing has been resolved! We still only see out delivery guy about three days a week. The USPO need competition. It would probably put them out of business. read more

Upon every visit I notice long lines, but they usually move pretty quickly. I'm very pleased with the availability of stamps, postal boxes, post office boxes and different odds and ends that i need for postage. I'm on a first name basis with many of the clerks and the postmaster. That kind of thing doesn't happen back where I'm from, so I'm very appreciative. I also like where they located this post office. I have been to this post office a number of times since 2014. I first had to come here in 2014 to have the lock changed for my mail box at the USPS installed mail station at my new apartment complex in Carson City. That involved two trips before I could access mail: one to fill out the form and show ID and the lease, and the other to actually come and get the new keys when they were ready. This took about five days since they come out to change the locks only certain days of the week. I wasn't able to access mail in the meantime. Then, before I could have any mail delivered, I had to fill out the name form left my the postman. Kind of a cumbersome process, but I do appreciate that I had a new lock for my mail box. They also have an outgoing mail slot in this mail station at my apartment, and another locked box if you have a large-sized package that won't fit in your regular box, the regular boxes being quite large though (about 2 to 2.5 times bigger than a small PO box). This is convenient, as it saves you a trip to the post office. Whenever I have gone to the post office for actual services, I have been satisfied..The line can get long at times, but they do move. I have seen both slower and faster lines at other post offices. I like the fact that they have a self-service station where you can weigh your mail and buy stamps, but packages over a pound still have to go to the window. They also have free postal supplies in the more commons sizes all over. Parking has always been sufficient. I usually get one of the space up front since I have a handicapped placard. The only reason I go to the post office is because it is cheapest for shipping. The majority of the staff is rude and the line is usually ridiculously long. I sometimes ask them to tape a package (I don't trust the bubble envelopes from USPS and I've had a few packages show up empty!), and they refuse to tape the package! They just aren't super customer service oriented and they aren't the friendliest ( with the exception of 1 or 2 employees ). If you're looking for cheap shipping, it's your place. But if you're looking for efficiency or good customer service, i wouldn't recommend it. UPDATE: Recently shipped a piece of jewelry (never arrived, never got returned). I tried to call today and NEVER got an answer. Like I said before, they are not concerned about customer service. Yes shipping is cheap, but You get what you pay for! This is absolutely ridiculous. Every month there is something this post office screws up. Either they lie and say they delivered a package even though they never even came to my building, or they never deliver to the right address. One time they claimed they delivered my $400 computer monitor to my address. Turned out they sent it to somebody who sent it back to the sender! Meaning I got refunded and had to wait another two weeks for delivery! Then today the tracking information says they delivered my package at or near my mailbox. I walked out to the mailboxes and nobody even came to our mailboxes! If they had they would have taken the keys or had some form of mail show up in any of the boxes. None of the mailboxes have anything in them! Another time my girlfriend found out our neighbor had received our $300+ stroller carseat combo! Luckily it just so happened to be the one neighbor of ours that actually likes us or knows us well enough to be nice enough to give it to us. What is the point of paying for a service if they never actually follow through with delivery? Amazon thinks my packages were delivered so it won't let me get a refund! The packages were supposed to be delivered yesterday but were delayed due to weather supposedly. The today it says they delivered it/handed off directly. If they couldn't deliver it today it would be nice to be notified that I have to go to the Post office to pick them up before they close! This essentially means I have to go to post office on Monday after work and drive as fast as I possibly can to make it before they close and waste my time trying to get my package! Why does this crooked post office lie and say they deliver packages? Why? I could have drove to Vacaville, California to pick up the package faster than this! How does a post office get four stars? So glad you asked. It is large and open and modern and clean. The staff are cheerful and helpful and very very pleasant to talk to. It is set up to form a natural queue so there is no jostling for next in line I came the Monday right after Thanksgiving vacation (what WAS I thinking?) to just buy a couple of padded mailers and a stamp. There were three people working the counter and one person at the line to greet and help handling requests. People who were just picking up mail were fast tracked in and out. Because they were well organized the line of about 10 people in front of me, quickly shortened. Parking was plentiful and convenient and access from Roop street was easy. Nice to be in a post office with so much positive energy. Made waiting in line bearable. read more

Packages regularly don't get delivered. They say the house or mailbox is "inaccessible" Which is a total lie. We have a gate. Leave the package with the gate attendant. Someone is there 24/7. The PO drivers are either not bothering to come to our neighborhood because it's out of the way or they are keeping our packages or they just lie and take them back to the office and we never get notice and never see the packages. Love these guys! I'm here almost every day. I have a post office box and mail lots of packages. The staff is great. Occasionally the line is long, so what. Occasionally there's a piece of mail in my box that's misplaced, so what. That's life! But I trust these people to get my packages where they need to go more than any other post office. Woman working there is one of the rudest in regards to doing her job, customer service very poor. If you don't like your government job that pays well, you should quit and let someone else do it better. This office misplaced two packages, upon finding them, instead of bringing them to the counter where I'm waiting, she brought the key to the package retrieving bin and tossed it to me walking away. It's not really their fault but I think it's the only game in town now for USPS, so no matter when you go, even the middle of a workday, be ready for a line of minimum 10 people. If it's not all the way back to the entrance which seems to be not uncommon. The clerks are pretty good and they usually have 3 or 4 working so the line moves at about as OK of a speed as you can hope for at least. And the building is unusually nice and large for a post office. It's also a general delivery pickup site so that might be part of the backup. read more

I can't blame my misfortune on this post office specifically... this just happens to be the place I shipped to from Texas. For the amount you have to pay to ship a package out of this place, you would think they could take better care of it. I was mailing my wedding garments back home and didn't think insurance was necessary because, after all, I didn't pack it loosely. I made sure everything was snug to withstand any *normal* or *expected* turbulence. But when my family received my box in the mail today, not only could the mail PUNK not put any effort to delivering it to their actual door and just left it in their driveway, it had a huge hole in it! And the *innermost* items were destroyed!!!! It looks like someone kicked it all around, ran it over, then stuck their hand in and tore some shit up just for the hell of it. There is absolutely NO WAY that I can think of for any package to be treated this way. I should NOT have to purchase insurance for my items because the USPS cannot hire employees that are RESPECTFUL. This is an absolute joke. I will never ship with them again and I wish I could sue their stupid ass enough to shut down. I seriously cannot believe this happened. Absolutely pathetic. read more

Many missing packages and some days the carrier doesn't even deliver to my neighborhood ;( I was told by the post office that it was because they didn't have a regular carrier for the route that my house is on ... I was facing delivery issues for a package from overseas that had been sent four weeks ago. Most calls I made to post offices around Las Vegas went unanswered or were not very helpful-until I called Donna Lipoma who worked in this branch!! She promised to look for my missing package amongst many, many boxes that faced issues and to call me later. I thought I was going to be blown off but was very happy to get a call on my cell 20 minutes later- there had been a mistake on my package and Donna corrected my mailing address, and made sure that it will be sent to me. This post office is very lucky to have someone like Donna work here for them!! She was helpful, polite and efficient, and certainly made my frustrations disappear. 5 stars for great customer service!!! read more

I walk in am in line at 4:58 pm on 12/7/12 and the lights dim and a lady tells me they are closed. WTF I was in line 2 min before your posted closing time of 5:00 p m. Julie is very rude, I told her I had dropped off two packages this morning and that one had been checked in but the other hadn't and her response was "I'm sure it's fine" I asked her to find someone that can help me and find out why and without a response she put me on hold or something the phone went completely silent. She then came back and asked where I left it I told her inside and she said they probably just haven't got to it or they just missed scanning it and sent it out without scanning. I told her it needs to be scanned in today because it is an item I am returning and she said well then you should've waited in line! WTF! Why, isn't that why the bin is there? I'm sorry I don't have time to wait in line for an hour on my lunch time I have a regular 8-5 job and they take their sweet time. Went in to send a piece of mail certified but the line was so long and not moving at all that I left and decided to trust the USPS and simply mailed the piece of mail with a couple of stamps and into the mail box. Big mistake! With all the pieces of inconsequential mail I have sent to this address making it there fine, this one piece with sensitive, confidential data in it is the one that got lost. So, called to see if the Carson Post Office could help me locate it; perhaps it had been returned or something. Instead I get this incredibly rude individual on the phone who all but snaps and at me and tells me there is nothing they can do. I am angry to the point of hysterical tears just trying to get ahold of a human being. Our mail carrier left today without locking the apartment complex's main box, so everyone can get into everyone else's mail. I can't get a hold of a human being to ask them to please come back and lock it up. This is only one of the complaints I have with the postal service. We have a different person every day and I swear they just get dumber and dumber. No one gets the right mail. I am the manager of an apartment complex in town and I have to play post office all day long with people getting other people's mail. Packages showing delivered but nowhere to be found. I checked the tracking number of an expected delivery and saw that it had arrived at the post office. Rather than wait around the usual 5 hours or so for the mail carrier to come through I decided to call the post office to see if I could give them the tracking number and have them set aside my package for me to pick up sooner. The receptionist who answered the phone laughed at my request and made a sarcastic remark on how I think I know how the post office works. She flatly asked for my number and said she'd look for it and call if she found it. I never received a call. After our conversation I didn't expect one anyway. I would have been perfectly fine with a simple answer like "Sorry, but it's too late to change your scheduled delivery to a pick up". I have 6 years of experience working in customer service. If my boss ever heard me speak to a customer the way this woman spoke to me today I would have been reprimanded if not fired for laughing at and mocking a customer for asking a legitiment question. read more
