We moved to DuPont at the beginning of August, and one of the FIRST things I noticed was a post office within walking distance. I was thrilled! That feeling didn't last long...
I've had use for the Post Office three times since moving here, and each encounter is worse than the last. I'm glad to see another reviewer called out the atrocious rude Asian woman who works there (so far the only associate I've seen/dealt with). I have never had such terrible customer service before. Ever.
Trip 1:
-Above mentioned associate moved unbearably slowly, and was insulting and demeaning to the elderly woman she was helping. Soon, a line built up. And instead of calling for additional support, or acknowledging the line (a simple, I'll be right with you folks, thank you for your patience, would've been peachy)...she continued to "assist" the woman. When I got to the counter she ran me through all of my options, and when I made my selection she begrudgingly asked me if I thought maybe more insurance would be a good idea. A guilt trip. No thank you.
Trip 2:
-I had a prescription mailed via GroupHealth. I was already worried about it making to my new address, as I have had issues with USPS recognizing a mail forwarding request. I checked tracking, and it listed as being "delivered/left in mailbox". I checked my box, no package. I called the office, and listened as she looked up the same tracking, and read the same results I had. Then was told that the carrier had gone home for the day, so there was nothing she could do about it today. I provided her my phone number, and asked for a callback tomorrow morning when the carrier arrived. The next afternoon I received a voicemail reiterating that the carrier had left the package inside my mailbox, and that I should check again. She was even so kind as to describe the size of my package for me...
I contacted my insurance provider, and they confirmed the shipping address, and that it was delivered...I checked with my neighbors, none of whom had seen my parcel in their boxes. I called again, around 2:30PM. She was very short with me, and gave the impression that I was wasting her time calling her. I was told again that the carrier delivered the package. To my mailbox. I was then told that she had to go (clock out for the day), and then hung up.
Trip 3:
-I have an air conditioner to return via Walmart.com. It's a pretty hefty box, and I wanted to just make the one trip in, drop it off and be done with it. I walk in, no one is at the counter. I set the box on the counter/scale of the till to the right. After about 3 minutes, she walks out front...I smile and say hello. She says nothing, and gestures to the scale/till on the left. I lift the box, and move it to the scale. She huffs, and gestures for me to turn the box so the label is in reach of her scanner. I'm then told that the label is not readable, and I'm going to have to re-print it. I've worked for almost three years as a production coordinator for an import/export marketing company. I feel pretty confident about labels, and what scanners can read. She shoved it off like I hadn't done my duty correctly. I asked her if I might leave the package here for a few minutes while I go re-print the label. She rolled her eyes, sighed and asked me how long did I think that would take. At that point, exasperated, I said thank you...took my box, and left.
I'm so disappointed with my experience here. I can't even wrap my head around it. I've never been so rudely treated, and made to feel like my patronage was a huge inconvenience in someone's day. Unless this individual no longer "works" at this post office, I will be driving to Lakewood or JBLM for my postal needs. read more
