This post office is no where near where I live but it's so worth the drive because 1. They take social distancing and mask wearing seriously 2. They are friendly and helpful 3. Service is quick! This post office is clean and organized and the staff is so nice. The post offices near my house are filled with trash and instead of helping you tape something they just throw a roll of tape at you with nothing to cut the tape and tell you to cut it yourself. It's worth the extra drive for the sense of safety and the friendly staff! Highly recommend! read more

This post office consistently has only 1 person working the counter and it's absolutely terrible. Be prepared to wait for 30 min. @ minimum. This is a fairly good post office as far as post offices go. It's in a convenient location, as it's next to many office buildings and LAX. The downsides I think are that there isn't much parking available, so you need to time your visit right. There can also be extremely long lines because it's such a small office without many desk employees. Additionally, don't take too many of their free envelopes or they will get mad! (Co-workers and I had ordered some online for free but they didn't come for about three months so we took a bunch while there - as is allowed according to USPS - and this office said we couldn't lol) read more

I really, really want to like this post office but EVERY time I go, there is a horrendous line and I just have to leave. Today, for example, there were about 7 people in line in front of me and I saw no one behind the desk (probably in the back somewhere doing whatever the customer up front needed). I finally left and drove to the post office on Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach. At least they have a kiosk, and I think the time it took me to drive to MB and get my stamps and drop off my mail took less time than it would have if I stayed in line in El Segundo. Most of the time, I just want stamps. WHY doesn't this place have a self-service kiosk? It would assist with the line problem. They get an extra star for having a convenient mailbox you can drive up to and drop off your mail without getting out of your car. read more

No longer a fan, dumping a couple stars. I've been coming to this location off and on since my first review, and each time the line gets longer (probably because of my amazingly well written review, haha) and the service gets worse. A couple months ago I went in during my lunch hour as usual, to ship a parcel to Japan. I believe the person that helped me was a manager (since he was the only one in regular clothes...?) but wow, he was so aggressive and somewhat intimidating. From the way he asked me questions about the contents of the package (baby gifts, clothes), to how he begrudgingly helped me after I was done filling out the customs forms, I wanted to tell him that he was the just the type of employee that is helping to take the USPS down. Since then, I decided to go back to another location south on Sepulveda which is open until 7pm (I also reviewed this location before) and it's been empty and they have been as friendly as they had been on my previous visits. The ONE upgrade from the last location of the El Segundo Post office is the parking. That is it... There are only 3 clerk desks and only 1 clerk (2 if you are lucky) ever stationed at them. The only time I was in and out within 10 minutes was back when they first moved to this location and no one knew about it yet. The earliest I have come mid week is 9am with the latest being at 11:30am. Neither time slot will you be out within 20 minutes. This past Monday I arrived at 9:30am and counted 11 people ahead of me in line. There was only 1 clerk working so I decided to leave and try again another day. Thinking it was a Monday rush issue, I returned the following Tuesday at 10:55am. This time there were 12 people in front of me (1 clerk working). Just for grins, I decided to see how long it would take to mail out a package. 25 minutes... The last location had an automated parcel drop off. I asked when they would be installing one at this location and the clerk said that they were not getting one. I literally chuckled. The 1 star is for parking and the clerks themselves as they are always pleasant (it's not their fault). Bottom line, if you have at least 30 minutes to burn... this is your place. read more

Pretty bad. I come here at least twice a week. Mostly bad attitudes where staff is concerned. On the other hand, I hear a lot of customers making rude comments etc, so I'm not saying I want their jobs! There is almost always one or two empty desks...a long line...and someone who will tell you to put your box label somewhere else even when you've mailed thousands of packages. I almost always use the USPS postage machine-it takes a long time and sometimes it randomly stops working, and is more expensive, but i still prefer it to that line. What's the deal with the under-staffing?? This is busier than any of the post offices I frequent (Santa Ana, Orange, etc). The person behind the desk is occasionally friendly. Yes, I am a regular here...no, I'm not a fan. This one replaced the one on Grand in El Segundo. The only thing consistent is poor customer device, long lines and disgruntled employees. I would expect no less from government or union employees...wait, they are both. No wonder the service is terrible. Think every post office employee should have to go work for UPS for a day...think it might be an eye opening experience. Personally, I had an amazing experience here. Y'all this is seriously my favorite post office ever, now. It's tucked away so it's seldom crowded (never more than 2 people ahead of me whenever I go). Also, the clerks here are epically friendly and courteous. It's the same two every time I go and they're both sweet and helpful. Does the USPS specialize in the run-around and not being helpful?!?! The Manhattan Beach post office turned me away to file a form for our business that they requested. After waiting in line, they refer me to the "main" post office in El Segundo. Again, I waited in line and was asked to stand in another line for a postmaster to help me. After 10 minutes the same girl comes back and tells me to come back after 10am-- when the postmaster arrives to work. I asked if that was every day or just today, she said every day! Then why was I asked to wait if she knew this was their schedule? She couldn't answer so she walked away without apology or acknowledgement that she wasted my time. Unfortunately this is the level of service I've come to expect as it's consistent at every post office-- the only exception is the post office at the Airport which is consistently helpful. Had to mail a package, so I went to this location since it is near. Not a long wait in line, however I do not like when only one person is working the front. Meanwhile the line is getting longer...I mean "hello? no help" The wait wasn't ridiculous, it was tolerable. First a couple updates for earlier reviews: The lobby is not open 24/7 anymore. But don't get mad at the USPS. Be upset at the criminals that caused the change. PO Boxes were being broken into after hours so the USPS had to close the lobby at night. The parking lot is okay during off-peak times. So November-December, parking can be an issue and because of the area overflow parking can be hard to find. I did receive an oversize envelope in the big package lockers once this year (2019) so they have at least one key. As you'd expect lines vary. Sometimes there is no line, other times it's to the door. Sometimes there is only one person at the counter, other times there are two. I think I saw three a couple times during the holidays seasons. Pickup from this Post Office and delivery to PO Boxes is reliable. I've only received someone else's mail two or three times in five years. This Post Office is much better than others, the main Post Office in Gardena for instance (*never* send important mail from that post office). It's a smaller Post Office so if you need more service I suggest trying the big Post Office by LAX on the corner of Westchester Parkway and Airport Blvd, 9029 Airport Blvd. If you need a place to receive packages in El Segundo consider the UPS Store on 214 Main Street which is great (although I think there is a waiting list for the small mailboxes). Most of the staff is very nice. Never had a problem with them personally. The one problem I had there was huge but it was someone contracted by the USPS. Someone that was there to work on the parking lot was very upset that there were cars in the lot (the lot was full). Answer: show up early and block the driveways, don't run around screaming at customers. Be professional. He obviously was experienced with such confrontations and I was certain he was trying to bait me into a physical confrontation so he could file a lawsuit. I just ignored him and when he realized I wasn't going to rise to his bait he screamed a couple more times and then gave up and went to yell at someone else. The disappointing thing was I told an African American woman at the counter he was yelling at people and her reply was "That's okay, because I want him to finish working on my parking lot". read more

I am not expecting a FedEx or UPS level customer service from a governmental agency, but their inability to track package in this day and age is simply not acceptable. I've had two instances so far in 2 short months since I've moved into Manhattan Village community. (1) an international expedited package got lost for 3 weeks: the worker at the office suggested I go find a delivery truck and talk to the driver because the package is not at the facility. (2) a FedEx package delivered by USPS got lost as soon as the package custody was transferred to this facility. According to the FedEx tracking, the package is on delivery track for almost three weeks now. Two lost packages in two short months is too much. read more

I came here to ask the postman behind the counter a question while I was the last person in line. The postman behind the counter was helping his customer. He answer my question and I left. Terrible post office! Unfortunately I have to come here since it is close to my work, but there is never enough staff to handle the business, and there is regularly a very large line. They have multiple registers to help customers but typically only have 1 employee working, sometimes 2 employees if you are lucky. And during the busiest time of day during lunch, they never have enough support. To make it worse, they also have a manager that walks around to help with non money transactions, instead of of just setting up at a register and helping the line when it extremely long. I had some important items that were needed for a party that weekend and I showed my ID and email showing my package was in the warehouse. The person at the front desk refused to assist me. I would highly recommend skipping the new machine they have put in the lobby. It will short you postage and then you will not get a refund without taking a whirl on the hamster wheel that is USPS bureaucracy. Case in point -- I order 100 stamps on a Monday (holiday, so they're closed). It prints 80, then stops, tells me it's unable to print more, and that no refund is available at this time so come back later. Okay. I come back Wednesday, explain this to the lady at the front. She presses me saying they have no way to prove I did not collect the full 100. I have brought all 8 pages it printed, now partially used. What else can I give you to prove to you I am not lying? The receipt doesn't show a print count, and that is not my fault. But I am beginning to be irritated that my integrity is being questioned...over $10 worth of stamps. She gets her manager. He speaks with his manager. The entire ordeal takes 30 minutes, only for them to tell me they must do an audit of the machine and they'll get back to me. This is over $10 worth of stamps. TLDR -- The new machine they've put into this lobby has some severe operational issues that the staff is unwilling to admit. Skip it, or get shafted on your stamps. read more

First time coming to this post office during my lunch and the clerk MARIA was extremely rude and gave horrible attitude to me. As I was next I was writing my address label and she was rushing me with attitude " are you almost done cause I need to go to my lunch" first of all it is completely unnecessary to rush a customer just cause she needs to take a lunch. I totally understand we all want to take a lunch but the customer service could've been handle a lot better as in " sorry I'm about to take my lunch I will have my coworker assist you further, is there anything else I can help you with before I take my lunch" something along those lines. I did tell her I do not need her to be rushing me and that her rude customer service is not the greatest customer to be rushing a customer. Instead of apologizing she continued to give attitude and she stated "well I'm taking my lunch" and just left me there unattended not knowing who was going to finish helping me out. I spoke with the supervisor on the clock and told her about MARIA and she was apologetic for it which I appreciated but I will be taking this complaint to upper management "post master". read more

The last package that was lost, the manager told me she suspected had been stolen by one of her employees. WOW. She told me to file a report with the postal inspector, which I promptly did. The post office is clean and the staff are friendly. BUT, they don't have a self-service center! Is that totally dumb? So you have to wait in line for a person. Waste of time going there... The reason they don't have it is because the area is not considered safe so they need to lock it at night and the self-service needs to be open 24 hours. OK, so, WHY would you relocate a post office to an unsafe location and reduce the services available. USPS major fail! Another point I'd like to make is that while the staff is friendly, they are like machines with their brake time. When it's time to take the break, they go, no matter how many people are in line. I have never seen this happen at any other retail store... I mean, you can just wait to take care of the few people in line, AND THEN, take your break. I was just dumbfounded watching 2 of them take breaks with 3 people waiting in line for a while. Finally, the parking lot is designed backwards. Since you are most likely approaching FROM the residential (even office area) of El Segundo you are going east on Mariposa, meaning it would make sense to enter in the first driveway. Instead, you enter in the second driveway, essentially making a useless loop around the parking lot area. And then pulling out of the lot, you cannot go back to El Segundo, but must go east into... ____________________ UPDATED: April 16, 2013 - AFTER tax day I waited 20 minutes in line behind about 8 people with complex packages. Behind me piled up another 5 people. It was around 3:30pm, so not lunch and not after work traffic. THE LINE DID NOT MOVE AT ALL as there was ONLY ONE WINDOW OPEN, so I gave up and left. I just needed to buy stamps! A self-service machine, more EMPLOYEES, and a stamp machine would really hurry things up. Never going to this post-office again. I just left the post office in which I was rudely informed that they could not give me 2 pieces of tape to tape my label down and that I either needed to buy tape from them or else wait to mail my package at a later time. Mind you, this is a return package to Old Navy, no there should be no charge to me. When I said that to her, she said then I needed to contact Old Navy to send me tape! Then I asked for a tracking # for my other package, which was also a free return and she watned to charge me almost $2 to get the tracking number. I'm sorry but it's not like I was asking for a box, packaging, etc. but rather 2 pieces of tape in which was right there next to the manager. First of all, this is why I NEVER go to USPS anymore and rather go to UPS. I never have issues with the workers there who are always friendly and helpful.
