The cost is $1.45 PER PAGE! The clerk made us pay another $1.45 for the 2nd piece on the same page even though I had the USPS rate printout.

This is the saddest of all the local post offices. I have lived here 41 years and own a local company for 31 years and have been to all the post offices in the area over the years. This post office is the WORST! 1. They do not honor their own published rates. See photo. To use their Certificate of Mailing book (which allows you to prove what and when you mailed something), the current charge is $1.45 PER PAGE. You can mail up to eight items on one page. All but one clerk stamps the book and takes the mail. Urmila, however, insists that is not the rate and makes us pay $1.45 PER PIECE. We even have the USPS printout of their own published rates taped to the front of the book but she literally doesn't care. 2. We have lived at the same address for 31 years. Yet we had someone from El Dorado Hills mail us her holiday card AGAIN in a new envelope because it was returned as ADDRESS UNKNOWN. The printed label on the new envelope matched the printed label on the original envelope exactly. 3a. John is a long-time clerk there. He is sometimes unkempt and is rude to some people, but not all. In line yesterday I observed him being polite to an elderly woman but the Asian man who went next did not fare as well. He literally said to that man, "Then you should know better." Even if that was the case, that's not how you speak with a customer. 3b. There are six women in my office and we have all had interactions with him over the years. Three are overweight and three are not. Over time we realize that he is nice to the three who are not overweight but the others consistently come back to the office griping about how he treats them. When we complained, we were asked to PLEASE put it in writing. They don't want to for fear of having to deal with him afterwards. 3c. Chatting with a mail carrier today the name John at that post office came up. "Yeah, he doesn't have many friends," they said. I said he seems like he is just waiting for retirement and doesn't care and they readily agreed.

Navigating passport applications can often feel stressful and detail-heavy, but Michael made the entire process feel organized, efficient, and straightforward. He is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly understands the ins and outs of the system. Every step was explained with clarity, and he ensured that nothing was overlooked--something that gave me a great deal of confidence given how time-sensitive and important these documents are. His ability to keep things moving while maintaining accuracy really stood out. What impressed me most was his professionalism under pressure. Even in what can be a busy and demanding environment, he remained composed, focused, and respectful to everyone he interacted with. It's not easy to balance efficiency with genuine customer care, but Michael does it well. It's clear he takes pride in his work and understands the responsibility that comes with it. Experiences like this are a great reminder that professionalism and integrity still matter, and I truly appreciate the role he plays in serving the community. Michael Rosario is a true asset to USPS, and I would not hesitate to recommend working with him for passport services. He is totally qualified, professional, disciplined and trustworthy. You won't find a "upscale thrift store" process here. He is not graceless, clueless or arrogant. If he was forgiving arrogance would be simple because of the complexities he faces every day. You won't find any reproductions in his business model. And while the government sets the prices, it appears nothing is overpriced! No guest work on his part or unsupported value to what he brings to the table. Michael demonstrates taking his responsibility seriously. Clearly he was trained by an expert and took his advice. If he didn't have this it would break down customer trust, it may cost the post office thousands of dollars in lost revenue. When you approach Michael you won't get a lecture on the fair market value of a passport inquiry. He would never deflect a question or be defensive or rude. In all fairness he could probably run the whole USPS federal government postal services better than the postmaster himself! As I was leaving I couldn't help but wonder why someone would not engage in using Michael for their passport services. He is truly the master with credentials, experience and business ethics!

US Post Office - They have more Christmas cards than Target... almost :-)

I happen to be on the way to dinner in Carmichael when I remembered I needed to mail a very special birthday card to Germany. The thing is I wanted to mail it first class, of course, but did not know how much postage would be required. So I could not plaster a bunch of stamps on the envelope and hoped it arrived there!:-) Basically I needed to stand in line and have the employee do his/her thing to get it mailed. Ugh! I rarely have any reason to physically walk into a post office at all. Especially during the holidaze:) Anyway... I suddenly remembered this location and I actually had the letter with me... so what the heck. I was literally a mile away when the light bulb went on. Miracles do happen. It was about 4:15 p.m., and there were only 4 peeps in line. That would never happen in El Dorado Hills. At anytime of the day. So I was thrilled. While waiting my turn, I started looking around and noticed a lot of very tasteful Christmas decor... It brought me to a peaceful moment and I instantly went from uptight and impatient to grateful and happy for that sweet little post office. They really took the time to "deck the halls". By the time it was my turn at the counter... I was in chill mode:) The employee had my letter post marked and into the bin in under 2 minutes. So thank you, Carmichael post office employees, for taking the time to bring some Christmas joy to your patrons and community. Much appreciated. Merry, merry!

I've got to say that I have had a love/hate relationship with this particular post office…read more Sometimes I can get in and out of there in just a few minutes while other occasions feels like an eternity as if I am in line at the DMV. This is none other than the Carmichael "US Post Office" that is located directly on Fair Oaks Blvd and adjacent to Carmichael Park. Since I have lived around this area throughout the years, it has been my go-to post office. I will say that the parking lot is quite spacious but the building itself is very outdated. Think of it as being a blast-to-the-past with floor tiling that is from the 1970s/80s and aside from the digital stamp kiosks, this building hasn't seen a whole lot of upgrades in decades. I came here during the afternoon of Saturday 10/18/2025 at around 1:00pm as I had to mail out a certified letter out of state. It was roughly a 15-minute wait as there were 3 postal employees working behind the counter. Once it was my turn, I paid the postage fees and was done in just a few minutes. This post office also has standard hours of operation being open weekdays from 10am-5pm, Saturdays from 10am-2pm, and closed on Sundays. In addition to their customer service area, they sell various mailing envelopes, boxes, and even a nice assortment of Hallmark greeting cards. And if you don't need to buy stamps from an employee, they sell them in the main front entrance lobby area. They also have several blue US mailboxes for standard letters at the exterior parking area. Again, the Carmichael "US Post Office" is a hit or miss. But in this day in age where everything seems to be going digital, I don't see myself frequenting this place that much anymore. My review, just an average three star rating.
