We have our passport service at another place (largely because this place does not provide passport service on Saturday), so I'd like to give them 2 and half star for their postal services only. They do need more employees behind the teller windows or be better managed. For majority of time, they only have one window for the passport service, and another 1 or 2 windows for other postal services. So you always see 2 long lines inside this place, and move slowly. Visiting them at early hours does not help, cause they have less work force at that time: one window for passport, and another for other people. They have a pair of self-service kiosks but the software is kind of not very user-friendly. I only use them when they have employee helping customers to do it. Generally their home delivery is OK. But after several months I receive mails in my box obviously don't belong to my address. I did lose some important mails in past years, so I doubt they also went to some other places for the same reason. Lastly I'd like to complain their scanning service. Most of the time, the parcel with the tracking number should appear in the USPS online system within one hour of acceptance. But a few times my parcels did not show up in the tracking system properly until they arrived at the next postal facility. So I have mixed feeling about this post office. Their location is convenient to me, so I will keep visiting them anyway; and I really hope they can improve their service in the future. read more

The one star is far too generous. Worst post office! I avoid it as much as possible and was reminded today why when I was very poorly treated and yelled at for not placing my package where I was supposed to. The employee immediately took the opportunity to treat me like an imbecile and she seemed to take great pleasure in doing so. It was so horrible that I was having a hard time conceptualizing what was going on. Why does their supervisory team allow such poor customer treatment? I was at this Post Office on 1/24/2022, around 3:39 pm. I purchased some forever stamps and brought an envelope which I thought needed more than one stamp. I asked a window teller, which was an incredibly rude person, to check the weight it and put the correct amount of stamp. She is a young Asian woman, I believe, Chinese, and was told her name is Woo Ban. She replied to me to put the stamp myself and arrogantly told me to file a complain which will be a complete waste of time. On top of it, the $5.00 change she gave me was missing a corner $5.00 number and the quarter coin change was totally black and cannot be distinguished if it was a US currency. I didn't notice it until I was at Target store and they rejected both. As we all know an employee's behavior reflects the management. Is the Postmaster/ Manager at this location doing his job? Do I need to bring this matter to the Postmaster General, the Police and other authorities? read more

If I could give this location zero stars I would. In my twenty plus years living in the area that this post office services, I have had only one mail carrier that has done her job not only competently but has gone above her duties and her name is Naja. Whomever has her delivering their mail on her route is truly blessed. I have had mail carriers leave packages in front of my door without knocking to let me know it was placed there. While I had my mail on hold, the mail carrier decided to not only deliver my mail( credit card statements and other personal items) a day early but put the mail in front of my door without placing it in my EMPTY mailbox DUH! I'm sure you can imagine my disgust and anger when I came home and saw this. I am on the first floor so anyone could have gone through my mail or taken the entire delivery. Luckily, I live in a honest building. I sent off an angry USPS.com complaint as soon as I entered my apartment. One mail carrier decided she didn't want to pick up mail from the mailroom and made her own rules. She put a kid's meal Halloween container in our building and placed a handwritten sign above our mailboxes, stating to place all mail in the container(which was placed in the lobby next to the LOCKED mailroom). Sadly, some of the seniors in the building followed suit and placed misdirected mail in the makeshift container and a variety of personal mail was left in the open. Whenever I saw this I would place the letters under the mailroom door for her and I threw away the container. I would complain to the post office and at USPS.com. It took about two months for the bucket plan to stop. I spoke to one supervisor who stated it is almost impossible to fire them their union is very strong, but he encouraged me to keep complaining. Another mail carrier wrote a note to the building maintenance on .... wait for it ....a piece of a residents mail. Just this week I had my mail on hold again and it was totally ignored. I came home and my mail was in my mailbox. This post office needs a total renovation of staff from supervisors to rank and file. read more

Three stars - A-OK for the window service. ZERO for the home delivery service. If you show up at the right hours, the window line isn't so bad (mostly early in the morning). The window service has improved compared to the 200-2010 decade, when it was horrible. My main gripe is with home delivery. This December, we have been told by at least five people that they mailed us an item in the middle of the month, and NONE of these items has ever been delivered. Perhaps a substitute carrier that didn't know what he/she was doing? Maybe it's sitting in a bag in the back of the post office forgotten? The scary part is who knows what other mail we have not received!?!?!?! read more

Went here to get a passport for my daughter. As others have mentioned they only process 25 people a day and there is usually only one teller handling passports. They don't process passports the first 3 days of the month. It took me 3.5 hours to get it done and I was #14 on line. My wife couldn't make the appointment so we had a notarized form in her stead and a copy of her passport. Only when I reached the teller did they tell me the copy of my wife's ID had to be the same as the one she used on the notarized form. Nowhere on the application forms does it state this. She suggested my wife fax over a copy of her ID which she did but they didn't receive it after 30 minutes even though it was a confirmed OK transmission. I then had to print out a copy of the license at a nearby mail store. I'm giving this location 1 star for the crappy beauracracy and 1 star for the tellers who generally try to help. read more

So, I mailed a box to my parents and the tracking I go said it was delivered to the address. My parents are retired and were looking out for the box and it never came. I called the 718 2633165 number and it just rings and rings and the voicemail is full. Then I received an email from the customer rep from the post office after I opened up a case for the missing box and the email stated that tracking shows that the box was delivered to the correct address and to have he shipped (that would be me) send a replacement! I took me weeks to buy and search for the items in the box tray was for a wedding (the wedding gown included!) and other clothes and shoes for family as gifts! In am so frustrated! Can't anyone do their job right anymore! Now I have to wait 4 days to file a claim! Ugh!! I'm hoping he box will show up but I don't have a good feeling about it. If you're reading these reviews and are skeptical about if this place can really be THAT bad. Believe it, it's THAT bad. I haven't been living in the neighborhood very long, but my mail has been lost or missing so often I've been getting hit with late fines almost all the time. It's getting to be ridiculous. I recently order something online and was home waiting for it. When I checked my tracking number, it said that it was "delivered in/at mailbox". There was nothing in my mailbox and no one rang the door bell. I go down to this post office and the teller that I got was nice and promptly went to find her supervisor. They both had no idea why there was a "delivered in/at mailbox" and claimed to have never seen something like that before. The supervisor acted like I was bothering him with my problem and seemed annoyed at me. He kept going to the back to "search" for my package, but came back way too quickly for someone who didn't asking me anything about what my package was. What really pissed me off was when left to go look in the back again, he said that the carrier delivers hundreds of packages a day and cannot always keep track of everything. Yes, I understand no ones perfect, but that's no way to apologize for a mistake that YOU made. Once again he came back empty handed and told me to call (718) 263-3165, which when you google it, is their phone number. He tells me to call at 9:30 am and surprise surprise no one picks up. Which doesn't make any sense because they open at 9 am. The phone just keeps ringing until the line is dead. I plan to go down there again to hopefully resolve this issue and complain about just about everything I possibly can. This place is just about as bad as any nyc post office. Lazy, rude and unhelpful employees. Very unorganized and long lines. They get mad that you ask for passport forms bc there are none available in the form holders. One person actually got in line to ask for a form bc they would not acknowledge them asking for it at any window. And they DO NOT MAKE COPIES. Bring all your copies of your documents so you don't stand in line for 30 minutes just to find that out. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would, out of all the workers they're only 4 good ones that are extraordinary and I'm happy when I see them. The rest should be fired or retrained as they clearly hate their job and they just don't care. Tyrone and his manager Ralph are by far the rudest and most unprofessional post office workers I've ever met. The service I received was beyond rude and plain right offensive, they made it clear that they don't care about their jobs nor do they believe in customer service. I was spoken down to like I was trash and shooed away when I tried to speak about my concerns. I'm asking that the Post office should remove those who clearly don't want to be there and get workers that actually care about their job and take pride in what they do. The USPS serving Forest Hills can only be described as CATASTROPHIC!!! A USPS DISGRACE: UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE, RUDE TO THE PUBLIC IT SERVES!!! I have lived in different places and can say in all honesty that this is the worst PO I have ever encountered. It also did not improve over the years. Not only they do not do their job, but they have zero customer service skills. They misdelivered a package 3 weeks ago. Did not answer the phone for days, and when they did, kept telling me that the gentleman in charge was not there. When I finally talked to him, he gave me an antagonistic PR speech. He said that there was nothing they can do, refused to even ask the carrier about it, assumed no responsibility, and was not apologetic in the least. *** Said that the carrier delivers hundreds of packages a day and cannot keep track of everything???*** If this is not a blatant acknowledgement that they are not capable to do their job right, what is? Plus, this very smooth talking PR operator, lied, saying that the carrier did not have, and was not supposed to have the key to my huge apartment building... I verified that the carrier did have the key to my building, and to the zillion other identical buildings he serves in Forest Hills. On other occasion, I assisted to the mistreatment of an 83 years old gentleman, who was not able to cash his Social check, because of a new rule asking for 3 ID pieces, instead of 2. This gentleman was cashing his check there for the past 15 years. He was also in no state to go fetch a new ID from the DMV office. The PO worker who mistreated him had no business dealing with the public. I had to intervene and ended by taking the old gentleman to the station master's office. This PO also did not process my Change of Address, and did not bother to fix that after multiple phone conversations. My mail was lost. The Forest Hills USPS is ill famed. Wherever you turn, you hear horror stories. Whenever they can, my neighbors prefer to go our of their way to avoid it. I just wonder why is the USPS keeping these failing employees, when there are so many unemployed who would be grateful to have a job and apply themselves? read more

Stamp vending machines are broken. More evidence that this is a poorly run organization.

Every package I receive comes damaged or not at all. The postal carriers never attempt to deliver my packages even if I am standing in my door and they ring to be buzzed up, my packages never seem to arrive. So far the tally is over $100 in medication, a birthday present I was to receive, computer parts, books, and a DVD that have gone mysteriously missing when they were supposedly delivered to me or my partner according to the post office delivery people who claim they gave me the packages personally. The manager is rude beyond belief and challenged me to come down to the post office for a confrontation. Needless to say that when the manager showed his face when I arrived he was surprised to see a girl instead of my gym-junkie boyfriend who he had also challenged. The manager also attempted to defend his mail carrier who had thought it would be smart to bend a circuit board (which had been clearly labelled fragile and that it should not be bent) and shove it into the minuscule mailbox in my building instead of delivering it to the door for a signature like it said on the package. When I showed him the now-broken board, he tried to argue that it could still work despite admitting to not knowing anything about computers. Aside from these issues, I have had credit cards, bills, and even a paycheck stolen from my mail(for which I received only the opened envelope). While I now post all my mail at the junction blvd post office, sadly, I can only have my mail delivered by the disrespectful, slow, and painfully incompetent people of the rego park post office. If I could avoid them, I would. Update: don't even bother trying to call them. Today, I spent over an hour and a half trying to call using the phone number listed for them on several websites and they never answer. After well over 30 phone calls which continuously ring and ring and ring with no directory or vm, I gave up and will be confronting them in person tomorrow to see what happened to my birthday present. Also, if you cause a scene with them, they will forever misdeliver your mail, apparently. P.s. there is a man there named "Kevin" who claims to be the manager of the location. Sorry, but this is by far the worst postal experience ever! Like the grocery store, there are seven windows, three are open and the line is out the door! The waiting patrons are pushy and arrogant and the acoustics are like that of an indoor swimming pool. It's no wonder the USPS is going broke. I recommend doing as much online bill paying as possible. If ever there was a reason for going paperless, this is it! I just checked my package status, while I am sitting at home, to see this: We attempted to deliver your item at 6:40 pm on May 8, 2014 in FOREST HILLS, NY 11375 and a notice was left because no secure delivery location was available. I walked in expecting long wait times and bureaucratic underpaid city workers that are fed up with their jobs. Pretty much lived up to my expectations. The only available window clerk was very pleasant considering she had just been shouted at for something she couldn't possibly have been personally responsible for. They've always delivered my packages in a timely fashion. I've had one issue with a package being marked as delivered when I hadn't received it but it came the day after I'd filed a complaint. Sometimes I receive mail for someone with a similar last name who lives down the block but that's mostly down to the mail man, not the post office. When you publicize that you open at 7am, the right thing to do is follow through. Also, opening the door at 7am and not having any employees to provide customer service until 7:30 is just as bad and not considered an operating PO. They never pick up the phone so don't even attempt to call them. I was expecting to receive and package and was home all day. No one came so I Iooked up the tracking of the package . The tracking page said that an attempt was made to deliver the package and a note was left asking for a redelivery date. Well, there was no note and as I said, I was home all day and no one came. I rescheduled a delivery date for Monday, on their website. It is now Thursday and the package still hasn't arrived. What a sham this place is. I have lived all over the east coast and I've had many a inconvenient or slow local post office, but none with a staff so rude, inefficient, lazy, hostile and grossly incompetent as the Forest Hills Station US Post Office. Leaving aside the fact that I get conflicting messages and policies from these people almost every time I visit (a sign that the management either doesn't care or is completely checked out) I have never seen bureaucratic workers abuse their near inability to be fired more than these louts. A classic example that I've experienced multiple times...workers will wait until the line stretches completely outside the queue area almost back to the entrance and decide that THIS is a good time to take their break or wonder around aimlessly behind the service windows arguing with their coworkers. When you do actually make it to a window in this dump your are typically greeted (or really, barked at) by a person who thinks their job is taking out all their frustrations about their unfulfilled career on you rather than providing you with prompt, effective service (and we're not talking brain surgery, we're talking MAILING PACKAGES). They will quibble with you over the most inane technicality. They will visibly roll their eyes at you and walk off in a huff if you ask even the simplest questions. I understand being over-worked and under-paid, I've been their myself. But when I was in jobs where that was the case for me, I at least maintained a barebones sense of respect for my customers because at any minute I could have been fired. Because there's no real management worth speaking of to complain to at this hole (the management are simply overpaid regular employees with no real skills or qualifications, and no power to implement changes in the broken USPS structure), when an employee takes out their bad day on you or gives you crappy service for no reason they can do so in the full knowledge that they will still have their job the next day. This environment breeds laziness, disrespect and slow, inefficient service. I cannot say enough bad things about this post office. There are probably one or two decent human beings that work there, but sadly they're probably in the back sorting mail. Lastly, Anderson C is DREAMING with his five star review. USPS says they attempted delivery but nobody's home(I was home all day) and left a notice (no notice could be found). It actually happened several times in the past months. I am also not getting my mail! I recommend everybody sign up for INFORMED DELIVERY by USPS , it is free, they send images of the mail to be delivered that day, so if you are not getting all the mail, you know something is not right ! read more

Getting a package delivered on time is like playing blackjack; you got a 50% chance of getting the package and 50% chance the mailman won't bother ringing the bell and just leave you a pickup note. I am sure it's a repeat from other people's bad experience in trying to get a passport either for themselves or for their kid as was the case with me. They seriously come up with rules to make it extremely difficult to get one. And I wish the would write them down on the wall or something to make it clear. Apparently, they don't do passports 1st week of the month - why? Who knows. Says on the website the service is till 5 pm- you show up there with kids that you took out of school to find out its till 2pm. You show up different time, before 2pm, apparently it's not till 2pm but only the lucky 1st 25 people of the day can get serviced. Oh, and to get the number to be called, you have stay in line to get it. Private companies do a much better job than government agencies such postal service and dmv. There is no competition, so why strive to have good customer care, it's not like you going to go out of business. Reminds me of days in USSR where government ran everything and service was horrible. This post office location is typical of post offices everywhere. There was a wait. Expected on a Saturday afternoon. I expected that. It was a bit unkempt to me and could been a little more organized. The line was long and seemed to move slowly. I initially filled out the package and slip and joined the line. I waited there for about 15 minutes before I stepped out of line. I was almost out the door before I noticed the self service machines. I used the machine pay for my package and thankfully I did notice the machines. A helpful employee assisted me through the process. I was able to use the machine in about 5 minutes. 7 Windows, but only 3 open during busy times and one for passports. Lots of tables to do your addressing and such. There is an automated device, I don't really want to approach yet. The atmosphere is one of impatience, stress, and occasional humor. Why are we so impatient? Are our lives so busy we can't wait in line a little bit. I cannot speak for anyone and I only have one experience to go off of. I try to think about what government-funded entities can and cannot do and what issues are due to their own management vs. what is due to a lack of support. But I went to this post office on the same day a storm was expected to slam the northeast , at the height of the holiday shipping season, and of course a COVID-19 pandemic that has resulted in huge increases in online shopping and postal deliveries. There was a decently long line but the manager (not sure if that is the right title) was helping the line move as quickly as possible. He was helpful, pretty funny, and was asking what people were trying to do. He provided me with the priority envelope I needed, had me fill it out while he gathered supplies for others on the line. As soon as I was done he came back to me, walked me over to a credit card scanner and got me out of there only a few minutes after arriving. This guy was hustling. All I can say is that on this particular day my experience went as well as it possibly could, beyond my expectations. read more

Doesn't answer calls, the delivery personel doesn't deliver packages to people instead they leave a "sorry we missed you" notice on your mail box in the lobby. It's a shame that our tax dollars pay for such poor service. It seemed the employees could care less about their job, much less, our personal mail and packages that invaluable to us. Every time I go to this post office I try to get there first thing in the morning as they open up at 7 am. This morning I waited from 715am until 750 am to be assisted. There was ONE clerk working at this time and about 10 people in line when I arrived. There was loud noise coming from the back of the post office that sounded like there were many more people there working but no one was actually in the front assisting customers. I then get to the window and the book of stamps I waited on line for for 40 minutes were sold out. Also, I have had 2 pieces of mail that I have sent from the post office gone missing. Definitely not satisfied and they clearly need more help in the morning. I left there without what I needed and a half hour late to work. read more
