I have been to this Post Office more than three times, and never when it's open. I just entered the Post Office to drop off mail. It's an traditional brick building Post office on a corner off Franklin in Garden City. The location works for me since I always find myself passing it on the way to my final destination in Garden City. I am guessing one of these days I will enter the Post Office when it's open. I love coming to this branch. Staff is easy to deal with. Even though there will be a line at any point of time especially during holiday, it quite moved so fast. There is a self-service counter for mailing needs. Shipping supplies are conveniently located near the working table. The PO box service window is available most of the time I visit the place. The Post Office used to be a reliable service. The Garden City NY (11530) is the worst. Every time my regular carrier (Carlos) goes on Vacation, I do not receive my mail. Bank Statements, Credit Card Statements and regular mail do not get delivered. It is immoral and obscene that there is no accountability for their lack of service. I am only asking them to do their jobs. In any other industry, people would be fired for incompetence. When my assigned Post office worker is not on vacation, I receive mail every day. When he is on vacation, I do not receive mail, or get some mail. The postmaster at Garden City should be FIRED! read more

Hit or miss if your mail is actually delivered. The person in charge of this facility should be fired. If I complain, my mail maraculously shows up. After a few months, back to hit or miss. Large checks, insurance invoices and other important mail is either delivered late, or not at all. I did a poll today. All 3 folks in my office live in different towns on Long Island. Oceanside, Glen Cove, and Locust Valley. No one has any problems getting their mail delivered in these towns???? What is going on at the Garden City Post Office. I complained via the USPS web site. Amazingly helpful and courteous when it comes to applying for a passport. After an afternoon dealing with the nonsense at the County Clerk's, this Post Office was a salve. It's in a nice, old pre-war building, to boot. If you're a first time passport applicant, here's what you'll need (so you don't have to go through the excruciating pain I did): 0. Get to this Post Office before 3pm on weekdays, before 12pm on weekends to apply for your passport. 1. A DS-0011 form, which translates to the "I've never had a passport" form. You can pick it up at any post office that has a passport service. It's white and mocha-colored. You'll need your social security number, your parents' full names and birth dates/locations. 2. Your birth certificate. This has to be the official document, and not a copy. They'll mail this in along with your passport application and return it you in a few weeks. 3. Your driver's license or other government-issued photo ID. Has to be legit. No fakesies, kids. 4. Two identical, recent photos of yourself, 2x2, full color, without anything obscuring your face or head. Sure you can print it out on professional, glossy photo paper at home and diddle in PS, or you can just suck it up and pay for the easy ones at a CVS or Walgreen's. I recommend getting them taken at a store, so you know you won't get rejected because your face was cut off an 1/8 of an inch. 5. A check or money order for $75 that gets mailed in with your passport application. 6. $25 cash or credit to give to the Post Office man to pay for two-way postage of your passport book. This is my 2nd favorite Post Office in the area (the first being the Post Office in Roosevelt Field). It's 24 hour access, clean, and in a safe neighborhood with automated label and stamp machine which is a big plus when you need to send a package on short notice, or can only check on your PO box after normal work hours. There are lots of mailboxes and places to drop off packages, as well -- you'll never have to come back later or search for another post office because a mailbox or package dropoff box is full. Like the Roosevelt Field post office, anything I drop off here tends to get to the distribution center fast and it feels like there are people working in the back at all hours. The staff are efficient, fast, although you won't get the friendliness you would at Roosevelt Field or at a smaller office like Mineola. Many of the people coming here are sending packages and mail for local businesses, too, and this is a fairly busy post office which means that they sometimes run out of boxes, envelopes and other supplies. I dropped a star for both these reasons. Don't know what it's like for passports (never saw anyone getting them done here) but as a post office it's a rock solid choice. read more

Oh dear, if only the DMV had the same wrap as so does the USPS. Especially when it comes to this one! A package I had inbound my way was mislabeled as RTS. Luckily I tracked it in time before they sent it back. But what they did was tremendous. They called me and even stayed late (about half hour) just so that I had time to head out there and pick it up personally. A rarity you find in government ran services. read more

Every time I go in there the same man who works there isn't wearing a mask that covers his mouth or nose. He is behind plexiglass, but I watch him wipe his nose while with customers and then hand them receipts. One way the virus is transferred. Today, there were also two men who didn't wear masks. One was picking up packages at the side door--mask below his chin--and another walked in to mail two packages and didn't even have one to use. The manager was there the whole time -- or I assume the manager because he tells them when to open and helps with customer and employee questions. He does wear a mask. It's unfortunate that the employee who doesn't wear a mask has such disregard and respect for customers and how colleagues. read more

Mail delivery is horrible from the garden city post office. My international package was lost after being scanned in at the garden city post office, and since it's international was not reimbursed . I keep getting my Neighboor's mail. I get opened mail, such as my paycheck and I consider myself lucky that I got it because I had many missing checks. Just 2 days ago the tracking on a package said delivered on Saturday 7:30 pm . Yet package was not on my front door steps as indicated by text message notification. My daughter credit card was stolen by the mail man and charged hundreds of dollars and luckily that was resolved. The last 5 years were the worst and is not changing. Can't wait till they privatize the post office because it honestly does Not work any more. It is sad but a reality. And they seem not to care very much. read more

I took the whole family to get passports because all the other post offices gave me an appointment for a month or two months away. The lines were pretty quick. At 10 am, there was only one person in front of me. Just waiting for them to examine every document, was 30 min. I don't usually post a review for a post office, but the people here are so nice, I thought they deserve. The drive is worth it. There are lots of spaces in the parking lot. read more

Although I have no problem with!the people who work at the counter in the lobby, the mail delivery is horrible at the Garden City Post Office. I frequently do not get bills and other important pieces of mail. I have called the postmaster Ed Tammaro, and supervisors Tim and Augustine several times that I have not received my bill statements making my bill payments late. Just last month I did not receive my Optimum bill and my home alarm company bill. Both bills were overdue . Basically the answer I get is " things happened "! Not acceptable ! And the U.S. Postal service has the audacity to raise postage!!! I guess that's why people use paperless billing. I will be calling Ed again tomorrow . read more

Good customer service and 24 hour P.O. box access is a plus, but their lobby hours are too limited for those who can't make it there when they open or before they close on weekdays, specifically for package pickups. They're only open until 1 on Saturdays. read more

This is the second year in a row we have requested for mail to be held and delivered to our home. For the second year in a row we have had to call the Garden city post office and ask them to find out where our mail is and when we can expect it. You fill out the form - make sure it's clear - and they just ignore it. What is going on there?
