Lines so long you'd think you were waiting in line for a ride at Disneyland. What is the point of having the dutch door for people to pick up packages if there isnt going to be someone there to help. The lines are often ridiculous so expect to be in line at least 30 minutes on any given day. I found that the best times to go are before 11 or try the next day. The efficiency level is very lacking. I waited in line for 30 minutes to get my package and after having the clerk check my ID, get my package then give me the wrong package, after I had walked away and noticed, I returned to tell her but she insisted I wait in line again. Hmmmmm... Yeah, that doesnt work. If this PO wasnt so close to me, Id definitely go somewhere else. Thankfully, I dont have to visit often. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. Horrible service, dirty and disorganized and so dang slow. The rep I had (I had to pick up a large box) flat out lied to me saying the box wasn't heavy (of course it was) so that she wouldn't have to find someone to help me with it, and the box arrived with a dent which I pointed out to her and got a response of "it's just the box." Really? How do you know that? It was marked fragile and yet - a dent. I'll have to open it up to make sure it's okay and if it isn't I doubt they'll care. Horrible. Package was suppose to come in and carrier left a slip saying it was back at office. Went to the office package is not here it is with carrier. Supervisor told me he would call around 5-6 to get my package since I needed it today. No call or anything. Worst experience of my life. Tried to get passport for my children, no communication whatsoever. The day I came seems it was lazy employee day. Waited and waited and waited without anyone to come out and tell us they were done for the day. They have no curtesy, it is NOT EASY waiting in line w two toddlers. When I complained that we should have been told they were done instead of being left to wait in line all they can say was, "well, we re not helping you so it's pointless. We can't help everyone." There are 26 people in line here. There is only one person helping people pick up packages which has no taken so long that the 5 people at the front of the line, including myself, have been at the front of the line for 30 minutes. I have no idea what's going on at this post office. read more

I didn't know what to expect from this office after reading the Yelp reviews. A couple of weeks earlier, we went to the Fremont post office at 7am in an attempt to submit passport applications and there were already 30 people in line, so I thought I give this office a try. At 7am I was the first in line, woohoo. By 8am, there were about 10 people in line, and maybe about 30 people by 9am. They opened promptly. Not only was the gentleman that helped me friendly, and also was very efficient. I needed to submit 2 passport applications for my children, and he finished in under 30 minutes. My co-worker went there at 1pm and got a number. Although the passport office closes at 3pm, they stuck around to help her at 4pm. Bottomline: -Fill out the forms, and have needed documents with you -Better chance of getting in if you come early. In the afternoon, luck of the draw in getting a number. However, if you have a number they will help you. -Friendly and knowledgeable staff that goes out of their way to help you. Good luck! read more

This branch really needs to improve. I've been patient over the last 7 years and still hasn't notice any improvement. Areas that failed from my experience. 1) When you turn in a vacation hold notice 3-5 days in advance, they still deliver mail even you told them to stop deliver mail at a certain date. I often have to call them to tell them I am away from home. This happened in the last 7+ years. 2) One time I picked up my vacation mail after my trip. In my bundle i found other peoples mail(not one but more than a dozen). To make it worst, they included someone else's expired vacation hold notice. Imagine that if I was a bad guy getting hold of it, that would be bad. And to make things worst again, I put the bundle of wrongly delivered mail next to the mail box for the postman to pick up and redeliver, the guy just ignored it and I had to chase him down so he can do his job proper(big fail). 3) Always get someone else's mail. All these mistakes likely come from a system failure instead of a single person. read more

Service is utterly terrible. They closed certain service such as passport and claim service at will. Since this is a government agency, service should be the same across the board. I am a government employee so I know that there are standards and especially with customer service. I'll bet they missed that training. I gotta give my local congress person a call about this. read more

The worst possible customer service I've ever dealt with. I'm not sure who even monitors their work ethics but the Hayward and Castro valley post offices could not even manage to call be back and every time I called back to remind them it was a constant sorry we're busy. The manager Dylan or delwan ,not quite sure,was supposed to have taken on my case because the rest of his staff were incompetent to understand the situation. So like the great manager he is I still have not seen any movement of my package or recognition of getting it back. I don't understand how they are even managing to stay open. He came to the counter after a time out was called. He scanned my shipment sheet and said it was not there and come back tomorrow. i showed him an email form UPS stating that package was there. OK I get it, this is a Government establishment under the supervision of the highly dysfunctional government so yes you should not expect service to be on par with Costco or Target etc.. The place is clean, the staff there is knowledgeable and if they can't help you, you wait about 5-10 for a manager who generally seems to care, all the rants about waiting 45 mins to ship a package there are other shippers you can use right? I met the mnger of this branch because an important package was not delivered to me and when i checked the tracking, it said i was not at home (actually i was at home)and it happened twice already. When i came to pick it up, they asked me to come at a later time and go to their back office. I told the manager what happened and he was very helpful in informing me what happened. Lazy mailman. I have been tracking my package to arrive yesterday. When I checked my mailbox my package wasn't there. I checked online to see what's going on. Apparently, I wasn't home! What! Am I a ghost? There's 4 people in the house yesterday! Unless you want to keep it for yourself, Mr. Postman! There's quite a lot of times you opened/pilfered my packages. The automated system is annoying af. I keep saying "mail" and it says "I think you said "carrier" is that correct" like seriously? Hella annoying. I kept calling back and it kept doing that. I'm so annoyed now I forgot why I was even calling. The line for passports is ridiculously long. Was there for an hour and only 5 numbers were taken. I was 20 numbers later and needed to leave. Please get more people working to make this process faster. If you are not there before they open, probably an hour or 2, there is no way of being able to get out of there quickly. Whole process no matter what time you get there is probably 2-3 hours. read more

Received a notice that package could not be delivered without signature. Notice said I could request redelivery without signature by filling out the requested information on the notice, signing the notice, and leaving the notice for mailperson - which I did. Next day, notice had been taken (presumably by mailperson because there's no other foot traffic where I live), so I expected the package to be delivered the following day. No dice. No package, no new notice, nothing. So I logged onto the site using the tracking number and found the last update was the initial delivery attempt which notes my package will be sent back to China in 4 days if undelivered. I tried scheduling a redelivery through the site... nothing. I tried calling the Hayward post office and found no answer for over 5 hours. I am now on hold with the 1-800 USPS number. The wait time is "GREATER THAN 1 HOUR." This is crazy. I will no longer order anything that sends via USPS. Hope this government system is fixed or eliminated asap. At least you hired someone who could pick decent on-hold music. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Theres on particular lady, she has black hair and her hair belongs back in the 60s. She look like she belong in the movie hairspray. She is rude to ALL ASIANS and she will run to the back room if she doesn't want to help you. Not to mention she smells like she hasn't showered in months and the stench fills up the entire waiting area. Her hygiene is as bad as her customer service. The passport service is great. The employees are knowledgeable and are helpful. Yes, you must wait in line for a number...and yes, an employee comes out and "questions" you...but you must understand that not everyone in line is ready to apply for a passport! Irene, who helped me, is nice and very knowledgeable. She gives advice and is quite nice to people who are rude to her. So, people, if you ain't got a clue to what you need to do to apply for a passport....don't blame the messenger. Respect the person and her knowledge of her job. I ordered a package from Amazon and just received an empty envelope with two red stamps reading RECEIVED IN DAMAGED CONDITION AT HAYWARD CA 94544 and RECEIVED WITHOUT CONTENTS. The enveloped was clearly ripped open along the seal and along the corner about 4 inches toward the center. The rip was taped back shut with the wide clear tape used by post office employees. I looked over the tracking history and the place before that was in Iowa and since it was clearly tampered with my bets are on Hayward postal employees stealing my stuff! The worst part is "the post office is not responsible" for things like this which is basically a nod and a "go ahead" for crappy employees to steal your stuff. Not surprisingly the lady there didn't sound too concerned and didn't even offer the 800 number for filing a claim. I filed a claim and am hoping for some justice but am out the money I spent. Don't even waste your time at the PASSPORT office. Once you go through the doorway into the passport waiting room, you will spend at least 3 hrs waiting. The sign says "Take a Number and wait", the ladies working there won't even look at you until or when your number is called. I took time off work to go in and renew my 7 yr old son's passport here, big mistake. They lock their doors directly at 3:30pm, and you cannot leave (if you do, you won't be allowed entrance back in). My 7 yr old needed to use the restroom, so i let him out (we had been there waiting since 2pm) and when he came back a couple mins later with his father, the head lady (older latina, dark slick back hair, glasses, heels) was not having it. She told me to leave. I pleaded and said he needed to use the restroom, and I took time off work to come in and do this. She said, "You should ' ve notified me if he needed to use the restroom" (like I was in elementary school, and I needed to raise my hand). What is the big deal? My child needed to use the bathroom and this doorway had now become a 'Secret Entrance Only'??? I was so upset, since I work across the bridge in SSF, and had to leave early to come home to Hayward to do this with my son. We had wasted almost 2hrs in waiting time for her to turn us down. She is a stone cold Bitch in my opinion. If you don't like your job, please, apply to work somewhere else instead of trying to make others as miserable as yourself. read more
