I tried to call this post office about a package. The answering machine led me to a full mailbox! The "receptionist" was a voicemail which led me to the same full mailbox. Didn't get mail one day last week--I was told they had too much mail to deliver that day, so my block was skipped!!!! The letter carrier did apologize. If i had a choice i wouldn't take my business here. But i have a PO Box set up here so i have to come here. (its closer to my house) Staff is horrible. Very bad attitudes. I have my packages delivered here so of course i need to come there to pick it up from the counter. They used to have a window open for people picking up packages but it hasn't been open for quite some time now. WOnder why, they really should open it up. Anyways there are 2 employees there that do not take customers who are picking up mail. They even have a sign out saying no pick ups. Today i went and it was only those two at the counter. And there were people waiting in line to pick up mail WTF??? One other customer waiting in line asks the hispanic lady with the dark black hair ( do not know her name.) if anyone was going to help us out, her answer was "somebody should be coming in soon." I received a pickup slip in my mailbox for a letter to be picked up at the post office. Fine. I don't particularly like visiting the post office, but I figured I'll go there early on Saturday around the time they open. It wasn't too bad last time I went to pickup mail they forgot to deliver after our vacation mail withholding expired. It shouldn't be too bad this time. Boy, was I wrong. I get there shortly after they open (at 9am) and the line was out the door already. The line split into two ahead for reasons unbeknownst to me; I was pretty far back in the line to hear what was going on. I stay in the line and my turn came up pretty quickly. I was rather pleased at the time. I get up to the counter and the lady tells me that package pickup was the other line. Ohhhkay...would have been nice if someone took the two minutes to type up a sign and packaging tape it to the front to tell people where to line up. It was fine last time I was there a few weeks ago to pickup mail in the "regular" line; why it's suddenly so different now was beyond me. I get in the other line. I was about fifth or sixth in line. It took about 15 minutes for the first person in line to receive their package. I look at my watch. I may not make my next appointment at 10:30 in Livermore. The pickup line quickly grew to maybe 20 people. The geniuses working the stations continue to quickly serve the non-pickup line with 3 to 4 stations while the line that's three times longer and at a dead standstill stays with one person helping. It's probably not the fault of the staff; I can't imagine that any employed group of people would be so braindead as to not recognize the problem they had or how to fix it. It was probably some idiot manager that came up with some policy to serve new clients (new outgoing mail) and completely ignore the clients who already paid (mail pickup). I take notice of the survey website poster at the far wall and I punch it into my phone. Of course, it was only for people buying something that day, requiring a code on a receipt. Meanwhile, every few minutes the staff had to walk out of their station and tell people which line was which. And every time five or more people switch lines due to the lack of signage. The crowd was getting visibly agitated as people started yelling at the front desk as far as why they keep serving the outgoing mail line but almost completely ignore the pickup line. "Anybody buying stamps?" yelled a clerk, adding insult to injury. "What about the rest of us??" someone waiting to pickup mail yelled back. They were clearing multiple lengths of outgoing mail line for every one person served in the pickup line. I was worried there was going to be an all out riot. Finally, it was my turn at around five past ten. I had been there an hour already and I was only the fifth (or sixth) in line. It took the lady, who seemed to be new or a fill-in, another 5-10 minutes to find the letter I was waiting for. I shudder to think how long the people toward the rear was there for. If it was a UPS or FedEx store that operated like this, they would have gone out of business (or shut down by corporate) within a week. But this is the USPS; they'll be there forever, despite losing billions of dollars a year. I guess my already low expectations were too high. read more

Worst post office ever! The workers don't work or help. They are only interests in up-selling postage. If you need to pick up mail, give yourself 1 hour or more, because only one worker can do this, the rest of the workers only sit around. And you wonder why the post office is loosing money and going bankrupt, they don't like to work! read more

Every time I have the misfortune of needing to go to this post office, it takes 20 minutes to find parking, and you have to stand in line for an hour. When you finally get to the counter, the clerks are understandably haggard and unfriendly. The automated postal center machine and package drop are almost always broken. Try to avoid this place if at all possible. read more

so this post office doesn't deliver mail correctly, nor do they answer the phone. when attempting to leave a vmail...you get a msg that the mailbox is full. when waiting for a "receptionist" you get looped right back to the full mailbox. genius. Even thought the closing time is listed as 5pm. they do not answer calls at 2 pm nor 3pm. The Hayward Post Office has lost all of my mail for over a month and they have not a clue why it is missing. Thanks goodness the junk mail is missing too but I kind of don't expect people who send me bills are going to be sympathetic. Our government at work... I bet they vote too! read more

I have been having problems with the mail delivery to my home. Occasionally, I receive a neighbors mail, however, most of the time my mail is delivered to someone else. On the last 2 occasions, I received a credit card statement that had been torn open then a check that had been missing for almost 2 weeks. I thought I heard someone outside at the mailbox. When I looked out I didn't see anyone, however upon checking my mailbox I found a credit card statement which had been torn open. A couple of weeks later I had to contact my bank after an anticipated check had not been received. I was advised the check had been mail by the bank approximately 10 days earlier. They asked that I wait a few more days. A couple days later, on a Sunday, I check my mailbox and guess what...there it is. I know it was not there on Saturday. Another issue is one of mail carriers. Even though I have a type written note attached to the front of my mailbox which clearly states that if we are not available to receive the item personally, 'for security reasons' to please toss any and all non fragile parcels too large for the mail box over my side fence. Parcels are continuously left on my front steps in clear sight of anyone passing by the house. Further, Kim, one of our mail carriers, is continuously rude, angry, and disrespectful. This afternoon, I was startled to hear banging and pounding on my front door. I opened the door to see this angry looking mail carrier who then shoves 2 parcels at me mumbling something about the doorbell. I apologized for the problem with the doorbell then stated that it was no reason to pound on the door. Then he began scolding me and telling me it was my fault because the doorbell didn't work. I asked his name and said that I felt his attitude was uncalled for. He continued to berate me for the doorbell and the rest I couldn't understand. This is not the first instance of bad behavior on the part of Mr. Kim nor is it the first time I have had to report such behavior to the Post Office authorities. read more

I love the service from passport! Yes, there is a long line but there are one or two people working. The most I love is that the lady will pass out numbers and when she is not passing out anymore will inform us to come back at 1:00pm. So it opens from 9-12pm and then 1-3pm. She started to pass out at 9:00am and then if she finished some people and there are new people form the line again, she will come out again to pass out more. This one is way better than the one in San Leandro!!!! Way better!!! The attitude and the service!! My advise is to be there before 10:00am then you might be helped before 12. read more

This post office absolutely sucks. I have waited in line to pick up a package for 45+ mins and then they couldn't find my package. They said I should come back later. Luckily my GF went the next morning early but still waited 20 mins to get the package. A week later I waited again for 40+ minutes for another package. None of the workers I have met seem to give a flip about their jobs. They all walk as slow as possible and chit chat with other workers while the line continues to grow longer and longer. Last visit a worker was listening to headphones while stuffing letters into boxes. It is very apparent that no one cares from the top down at this Post Office location. No drop boxes...have to drive 10 miles to post office...then get there two people working and 20 in line......mailed package april 1 and its still not there...pay my bills by mail before and it always got to credit card company late and have been charged late fees, rude people at counters...no wonder the post office is failing...too many incompetent people working for them read more

This post office is the worst!!! I was waiting on two packages. My neighbor brought me a parcel slip for my apartment, that was put in her mail box a week earlier by mistake. I went looking for the packages in my managers office, nothing of course. I decided to go to the post office in Hayward to locate the packages. I stood in line for about 45mins to ask a question. They insisted that they were delivered. I informed them that the notice was actually put in the wrong box in the first place and now no one has a clue where the packages are. I was told to leave my name and number for the manager so he could investigate and ask the carrier, but of course no return phone call. No wonder the USPS is losing money, with service like this they need to be closed completely!!! read more

We are having a bad delivery for weeks and I feel that I and my neighbors are Postal services. Few weeks ago I have to walked and looked for the correct address for the mails delivered to us which does not belong to us. Yesteday my neighbor has to give me my mail that was delivered to them and he said the same problem of getting mails that does not belong to him. I am worried that I have some mail that was delivered in the wrong address and never gave it to us. Please check and train your employees who deliver because I am afraid that I have important mails that was not delivered. read more

Today is Monday August the 29 I have been calling from 9am some pick up phone and they hang up on me this is happened four time then I called back its goes in the answering machine and they ask you to leave a message what you know mail box is full . this reason I'm writing this when I went on Saturday to Hayward Post office should have been open at 9am but not, but they when time closed they will closed on time I was there on Saturday they told me that my mail will be in box came same day in the afternoon my mail wasn't they , back on Sunday no mail . back on Tuesday no mail back on Friday no mail and back on Sunday I got mail but some else mail nice ha but if you late with your payment they just cut you off now I'm late to pay my car resignation because they did put my email in box every now then they put some mail in box this what we get from Hayward office pls we all need to work together to fix Hayward office staff they are in lalal land I thought we are in United state. . read more

And after another round of calls to the main post office (usually after waiting on the line for an hour), they are telling me somebody at this local post office has scanned in the package to a PO box about 10 days ago. The thing is I never had a PO box, so where the hell did they scanned it in? Did they scan it into their own PO box as a free Christmas gift?!? read more

we were given wrong mail so my wife went up to the driver to give it back to him but he REFUSED to take the mail! i called to complain to the management, very difficult to get connected. the system keeps bouncing you from extension to extension. finally i called(510-783-6637) and was able to talk to someone who immediately put me on hold for "a minute!" i was on hold for more than 16 minutes and still no help or service!! i hung up and called back and asked him why such a timely wait! he did NOT care to respond. i repeated my question two more times but he still refused to answer and simply evaded the question. when he noticed i was persistent in pursuing this matter he hung up on me!!! i called back to question him for his unprofessional conduct he then accused me of being "unprofessional" so i asked to speak with his supervisor but he refused such an allowance. i WILL pursue the matter all the way up and put an end to this DISGUSTING level of service. read more

In defense of the post Office, I need to share a different side. I work inside. Behind the scenes. Where we figure out missing numbers, absent addresses, wrong cities, wrong zips, new addresses for mail 'someone' sent to the old address. I understand the window section is who you think we are. Maybe we can use some improvement there. But it's best you write to the right person about your concern intead of bashung us on Yelp. Where nobody sees it. Our business is trying desperately to improve every area. If you shared your concerns with the Postmaster, she would be aware. our employess are good, hard working, moms. Dads. Grandparents. Some are ill. Some are young. Some are elderly. But when we are there, we are working. To deliver your mail in a timely manner. You have no idea how many articles come with wrong addresses, wrong cities, wrong zips. We have people that figure these things out. Share your concerns with the right person, the right place. Together, we can make the hayward Post Office a better place to do business. That is our goal. If your experience is less than professional. Nobody anywhere has to deal with laziness, nastiness. No, not even me. I hope someone is reading this that works in management. These concerns help us improve. By the way, we can and do listen to our earphones while we work. We start at 4am. The music helps us stay energized and up. I appreciate the comments on here. If I was higher up, I would improve here first. Don't give up on us. There are some good employees here. read more
