Not sure how this cozy historical post office could deserve such a low rating. I normally avoid Main St. Huntington Beach like the plague, but I recently got the guts to venture into this old-timey post office. I was surprised to find that visiting this location is quick and painless - at least Monday through Friday. There's dedicated parking onsite, as well as 20min curb parking in front of the building. Despite being on the website, I was informed they do not have a passport clerk here and was declined passport services. The employee who opened today on 7/23 was also extremely rude and unhelpful and gave me misinformation about going over to complete my transaction at City Clerk office (you need an appointment despite her telling me to just go walk in there) I contacted USPS to have them update the website. read more

It doesn't have the bells and whistles all other post offices do but nothing beats walking down Main Street to check my mail!

Although I live in Fountain Valley, right next door to Huntington Beach, I still come here sometimes to deliver mail and take care of task here. The staff is very friendly. I moved from hb and still continue to travel there just because they're great, so I don't want to switch post offices. I have a P.O. Box and don't check it too often so they always hold my excessive mail for me. After only a few visits they all recognized me and acknowledged it. It really gives a friendly, small town feel. The only downside is there's often a line but the employees get through the lines in a reasonable amount of time. Bonus!!!! They actually answer their phone! Directly! The number is (714) 536-4973. This is the post office near my home. It's one of my favorite things in the neighborhood as it's caught between old and new. The people who work here have been here for years and are extremely nice and helpful on everything postal I wouldn't be writing this if not for the guy in the first photo. He kept talking and slowing down the small line of customers. When I finally tuned in he was saying "this is my all time favorite post office...and it's the people her really...". I went in with my 3-pound puppy and Isaac came out yelling and banging the desk " No Pets allowed" I was startled, and I asked why?, and his response this is the rule, I was surprised at his attitude and hunger to feel bossy and have some power. This is Huntington beach almost all people have pets, pets are nice and give most (normal people) a smile. Do NOT trust this PO and it's careless employees! Lazy employees NOT properly scanning boxes as delivered- then they claim the boxes were "stolen." According to manager "Tom" there is INSIDE theft occurring at this post office! Tom told me the box was stolen. I don't believe him. This case of the vanishing hand painted purse seems pretty simple to me. Expensive items NOT being properly scanned as delivered and are then being claimed as stolen from the back office and/or off of mail trucks by people who work in this office and the manager knows it! Theft from USPS is a federal crime! I filed a complaint already and I will be filing a police report. And, I am OUT a hand painted purse and will have to refund a customer who just got a FREE hand painted purse from me- because the PO forgot to scan the box as delivered! I talked to "Tom" (he refused to give me his last name) who said he was the manager. "Tom" acted out to lunch, unapologetic, and extremely put out by my phone call. "Tom" acted as if he did NOT care that a box I sent by priority mail to a local customer was STOLEN (his words not mine) from inside his office or off one of his trucks. "Tom" told me a mail carrier named "Dan" had the route where the box was shown as "out for delivery." WHO is "Dan" and how long has he been working for the PO? Did Dan simply forget to scan the box as delivered? So, "Tom" the manager tries to "cover up" this BIG mistake and claims the box was mysteriously stolen??? DUH! "Tom" also told me that HE personally checks each truck when they come back at night. So, did TOM steal the box? Or, was he lying to me and simply got lazy and did NOT check the trucks for any undelivered boxes or mail, before he went home for the night? Whatever happened to this box- the fault lies squarely on this very untrustworthy manager named "Tom" and his lazy, untrustworthy employees. "Tom" told me with his own words- that the box was STOLEN! Question- How did "Tom" know the box was stolen, so shortly after the box went missing and did not show scanned as delivered, especially when he did NOT follow protocol and did NOT file a stolen item report? Why would "Tom" refuse to DO the right thing for me as a USPS customer and file a stolen item report? Maybe because the vanishing, stolen box was 100% the fault of the United States Postal Service?! (USPS is a private entity which receives tax payer dollars to keep operating!) This box had an expensive hand painted purse inside- and it literally vanished! Did "Tom" follow USPS standards for reporting this "inside theft" that occurred INSIDE of his office? Nope. Per USPS info shared with me straight from USPS- this manager named Tom did NOTHING and did not report this inside theft! It seems "Tom" cares more about protecting his job and his dishonest, lazy employees whom Tom claims are STEALING expensive items from trusting customers. Manager "Tom" NEVER called me back to give me any updates about the "stolen" box. The box was scanned and out for delivery early morning- then POOF! It was gone! Here is the record of the tracking so you can see for yourself- You can see where the box literally vanished! WHO is lying here? Tom the manager? Or, Dan- the delivery guy- who maybe forgot the box in his truck? Or my customer who actually received the box- but took advantage of the post office's mistake of NOT scanning the box as delivered? This was a local delivery! I could have driven this purse to this woman's house! Is it possible that the easiest thing is that "Dan" delivered the box and forgot to scan and update it in his system as delivered and now I have a customer who just got a FREE hand painted purse- because she saw that it didn't get scanned as delivered- and decided she could file a claim and get her money back from me? I like to think I can trust my customers. Unfortunately, this is something this post office does NOT do. This PO NEEDS to buck up and take responsibility for what they did to hurt me. If this lazy delivery person named "Dan" forgot to scan the delivered box- he needs to take responsibility for it. Because I have a customer who opened a claim on ebay against me for a purse she may have received! I am new to the area and have never experienced such bad "luck" at a post office. I weigh all of my packages and bill accordingly through pirate ship, I have been charged 4 times now saying that I didn't charge for the correct shipping. I arrived Columbus Day and decided to put my packages in the mail box outside since they were closed and the packages have never been scanned and my customers are waiting for them, some have canceled and my packages no where to be found. I went in to ask about it and the employee tells me I just had bad luck about it not getting scanned and there's nothing he can do about it, just wait until it gets scanned in delivery. I feel like the workers here have some sort of problem with using the blue box for small packages and not using the postal service to take more money from me than pirate ship does. Just terrible. Rude disrespectful clerk who refused to process a passport packet that I had paid $55 to a postal service company. Everything was done, the form, the pictures, the mailing envelope everything. This women insist I make an appt. I was there when they opened and was first in line. I come here almost on a daily basis to drop mail off for work. Usually, I never need to interact with any employees, as I just come in and drop the mail through the slots. Today, I needed to ship a package and was attended to by Cindy. She was great! Very helpful, chatty (in a good way) and definitely made an encounter at the post office anything but dull and routine. A big thumbs up to their plethora of 24 minute parking spaces all around the building. You won't have much of a problem getting in and out despite it being in the heart of downtown. read more

Compared to other post offices, the staff here are very friendly and work efficiently. There's almost never more than 2-3 people in line at a time and in the rare chance that there is, the line moves quickly. I came in here to apply for a passport for the first time, and was greeted by the most excellent staff. The employee that helped me today was Mary. And she was so sweet, patient and knowledgeable. I had made an error and she kindly/promptly helped me fix it. Aside from me, I noticed how kindly each staff member treated customers coming in and out as I was getting this service done. i change my mind... I take ALL their stars back... the post office is the worst!! SO DISAPPOINTING!! On two separate occasions I sent packages with a confirmation and guaranteed delivery by a certain date and they delivered it to completely the wrong place.. for no reason.. because the address was VERY CLEARLY marked. This is absolutely unacceptable especially since this was for a business purpose for a very important client. When I went in to discuss it with them, they could not help me in any way shape or form.. just pushed me off to an 800#. Customer service then asked a complete questions about my experience and pawned me off back to the location i previously went to that did not help me at all.... absolutely USELESS! Do yourself a favor and pay a lil extra to use FEDEX or UPS...atleast you'll have the comfort of knowing your package will actually be delivered on time to the right location. I love this post office. Its a relic. Totally antique. And the postal people are great. The only bummer is finding a place to park. If you hang for a bit you might find a spot right there in the front with a white curb. Otherwise you gotta drive around and find a meter. This post office is hit or miss as far as there being a line - sometimes completely empty, other times line to the door. Can't predict this. Regardless of the length of the line, the service is always great at this post office. Always helpful in finding the best rate and explaining the services. Never had a problem. You can park for free in front, across the street, around the corner, or down the street in front of the UPS store (all of these spots are 20 minute green curb parking). Otherwise there are lots of metered spots available. Get a Starbucks across the street. :) read more

I am so tired of not receiving my mail. At my residence and at the business I own downtown. My residence carrier has even had my mail shut off while I was still living there! Both carriers also will not deliver oversized packages to my mailbox and forces me to go get from the post office. Other times my tracking says it's been delivered but I have to place a claim to get it out of the post office because it was never delivered. It is so old, I've called and talked to numerous people. I had an important package delivered to an out of date address (not the post office's fault - it was an address I used to live at and the sender didn't know I was no longer there). It was delivered and I was unable to get in touch with the new resident (if there is one), and since I now live far away, I wasn't able to go retrieve it. I called the post office and spoke with Tom multiple times. He was extremely helpful and even went out himself to help track down my package and hold on to it until I could arrange for it to be brought to my new address.
