We lost some mail on two separate days. I'm 99% sure the postal carrier took our birthday cards with gift cards. This could be the La Mirada Post Office or the one from the senders address in another city. Since it was going to us I suspect it was our mail carrier or the people sorting the mail. In any event I always tell people never send anything of value in the mail, you can email or text that person a gift instead. Not worth the potential loss. read more

Change-Of-Address request never performed & didn't rec' any mails at either Old nor New addresses!! I waited 15 mins. in line when went to the post office try to figure out & resolve the issue/problem. There were 2 other customers ahead of me & only 1 staff helping a mother & daughter. They were casually chitchatting when 3 more customers came in after me waiting in line. The staff still didn't speed up or ask colleagues for help til there're 5 customers after me!! read more

Nancy, who was working the passport services at the La Mirada USPS branch on 9/12/2023, was super helpful and supportive. My passport is about to expire in a couple of weeks and Nancy helped walk me thru the application for renewal and informed me that the photos taken by the UPS Store and CVS did not actually comply with passport guidelines. She took the initiative of re-taking my passport photos on the spot and guided me thru what would be accepted by the government. Really made my day that she went above and beyond to solve a problem that UPS and CVS didn't care to look into. Nancy, then, helped me compile the envelope for mailing everything needed to the State Dept to renew my passport so that I wouldn't make a clerical mistake. Thank you kindly Nancy! read more

I needed to find a post office close to my location and my voice activated Google search brought this location up first, but then went in to say it was only two stars, and re-routed me to one further away. I was surprised at this Google feature if you can call it that and being one that always goes against the trend figured to give them a shot to see if the many negative reviews were accurate. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff here and their service, and specifically from Jonathan. He helped me process quite a few certified letters and answered my questions. I have to say their job is not easy, being on their feet all day and often a line that never seems to ends. I think some of the negative reviews come from those who think it's a hotel, not a post office. If you are in a hurry they have drive up drop boxes both on the street and in their lot and if you're in need of personalized service or supplies there's a ridiculously large parking lot, always a free spot. I do a lot of mailings for the holidays and will skip my regular post office and bring everything here. read more

We've been here twice already for passports. 3 of our 5 applications were approved, but we had to return for the last two. Our letter stated that our information wasn't verified correctly. We were waived any fees since we already paid the first time around. The lady who helped us the first time around helped us this second time around. She had us triple check the forms, which was appreciated, considering our applications were denied because of her the first time around. That aside, she was very nice, and her exaggerated thoroughness was a nice gesture. So now we wait, again, for my oldest and youngest sons' passports to be approved. Fingers crossed. DON'T COME HERE ON A SATURDAY MORNING EXPECTING TO SUBMIT YOUR PASSPORT APPLICATION! They only accept walk-ins Monday through Friday 9:00am - 2:00pm. Three stars because the lady who helped me gave me the info I took a photo of (see below) and asked to check my documents to make sure I had everything I would need. I found out that I needed a photocopy of the front and back of my CA Driver License. So I don't feel the trip was for nothing because it wouldn't have been able to get processed anyways. This rating goes for some of the employees, not all of them. Some employees, and the managers are helpful, but I cannot believe the experience I have had with this place. It blows my mind. Never before have I had a problem with a post office. And I am not the type of person to write complaints. But, the La Mirada Post Office is something else! First of all, I have never received any gift card that family members have sent me or my son in the almost 3 years I have lived here. My sister sends me things that never arrive. I tried to find the missing mail, but they just close the case. Thousands of dollars from my family, lost. And guess what? I rarely get my mail, ever. I have been to the post office, by taking a day off work to do so, and politely ask, "where is my mail. May I have my mail please?" The manager is apologetic and assures me that it will be remedied. Then some mail starts showing up. Then it stops again. One time, I had to meet the manager in the back of the post office to retrieve a big stack of mail. I would say, I have had to investigate this at least 7 times in my almost 3 years of having the same address, with the same mailbox. Most recently, I found out the mail carrier took it upon himself to decide that maybe I don't live where I live. He sent all my mail back to the sender. This caused my car insurance and my medical insurance to cancel without me even knowing, among other catastrophies. A bank card was recently sent to me. Do you think it arrived? of course not. And I desperately needed it. I went down to the post office again, and tried to patiently and succinctly explain all the above, and again, " Could I please have my mail?" So, yesterday, although I still did not get my bank card, I got a bunch of old but really important mail, postdated and with deadlines from months ago, that I can do nothing about now. This is the WORST post office I have ever been to. I have never encountered such rude, unhappy employees anywhere else. I understand that working for the post office during a pandemic & an election year is ROUGH, but the attitudes from the employees here are absolutely awful. The desk clerks are the opposite of helpful. They are not professional in the slightest. I've seen clerks make condescending remarks to customers and literally laugh in their faces. I would not recommend coming here. The drive to another post office will be well worth it to avoid this place. read more

I was with my 6 month old baby and I had to get a mail sent out right away. I had no babysitter at home. Ofcourse I will not leave my baby in the car.. Anyway, my baby decided to cry when I was in the self checkout line. I was already trying to calm my baby down and this one worker or maybe a job applicant came out of the office door and said "sorry sir im trying to take a test for the post office, can you lower it down?" in a very rude tone. I was only there for 5 minutes trying to get a postage. If you don't have patience sorry you're not fit for this job. It happened today 1/23/23. Btw, you can't tell a baby to lower it down. Just moved into the neighborhood and first time to this post office. The service was quick.

Parking lot is pretty empty and the service is pretty slow. About only two people work here so if you come in the morning it might take 15-30 minutes to finish with what you want to do. The staff is friendly and nice and if you need to mail something it is cheaper to mail it at a regular post office than using UPS. But sadly the United States Post Office doesn't always get to the destination it needs to be. Sometime it is even lost and they can't find it. But nothing is ever perfect. So if you need it to be a good price this is the place to do it. read more

The people that work here are like a Sam Smith song when he was going through all the break ups. They look depressed, unenthused, do the bare minimum, and seem to be totally fine with that. I have never seen a bunch of workers who quite honestly should be blessed to have the jobs they do with as little work as they do, and still get paid a decent wage in today's climate. The big black guy alone is could suck the life out of anything. A customer tried cheering him up and asked how his day was going. This guy shrugged, threw his hands in the air and said "it's going" in the most condescending way ever. Like really?? So dramatic. The Asian lady isn't any better. She will stall and purposely avoid any eye contact as if you're going to magically disappear or until another one of her co-workers helps you instead. The guy said that the person that was supposed to be doing passport applications left for the today. Me and my husband took the day off to get this appointment and waited. All that was in there is the receipt, no notebooks. Recently, I came by to drop off an item to be shipped out to a Facebook sales customer. First time selling an item on Facebook marketplace. The lady who helped me was very patient and helpful. I wanted to ship out an item I estimated at $8; which came out to be about $16. She didn't everything she can to help me get the lowest amount to ship out so I don't incur more charges. Okay, after many attempts of getting the shipping out closest to $8, she wasn't able to do it, but when I declined the shipping she was so polite. She genuinely had my best interest at heart. This office is not Cliff Clavin approved! There are 2 ladies that are nice and actually work. If you go there often you know who they are. There's a tall man, and the lady in the front that "greets" people that is doing absolutely nothing but yawning all day. No wonder the USPS is struggling, you have employees (tall guy) on their phones while there is a line of people out the door. Their "pre-check forms" are ridiculous too. There is nothing wrong with the place itself, easy to find a box you like and get your packages together. However, Christine who is a worker here is a truly awful person. She is rude, mean, unkind, what have you. I have been going here for two years because it's so close to my house but every experience I have hats awful is because of her. The La Mirada Post Office is the most ghetto and unprofessional Post Office that I have ever dealt with in L.A. County. The Compton Post Office is even more professional than them. The La Mirada branch is full of rude and lazy employees. When it comes to delivering big Packages, they rather pretend like you were not home instead of carrying your package up stairs. I had to rent a truck to pick up my own package and the worker (pants hanging off his ass) even had an attitude when asked to look for my box. If you live in a multi mailbox community and your mailbox lock breaks, it takes weeks for then to fix it and days for them to even answer the phone. Someone should go in there and replace eveyone with professional employees. read more

I visit this post office often for both business and personal mail, for many years now. Like many things, the level of service is not what it used to be. But I have to say the US Post Master at this location should be held accountable to properly manage her facility, providing service herself when short staffed along with a better attitude. One example of many is I found people on more than one occasion, turned away when they had passport appointments because there weren't staff available. Why doesn't she be a team player and serve the public like she's supposed to. All we we expect is to do the job you're being paid to do, and manage the facility efficiently and be considerate to her staff and public. read more

This is got to be the worst post office I have ever seen. I mailed my house taxes 11 days early and they never showed up to the city of Los Angeles. I put mail in my mailbox for the Post person to pick up and they leave it inside my mailbox and we don't find it till 3 or 4 days later because they've shoved it way in the back of the mailbox. I know we've had a problem with our mail when we mail something like our checks for our electricity are water payment came back because they said that the water company changed their address what the hell they haven't moved. We've had our mail stolen and checks forged and had to put stop payments on them this facility is just ridiculous I will never use them again. read more

They gave each person the time they needed -- how much postage, packaging evaluation questions, and discussion of insurance. This is the worst Post Office I've ever been to. My first visit I was "helped" by a woman clerk who was the rudest person that has EVER helped me . When I told a friend my experience with this clerk she knew exactly who had I had encountered. Well I went back today day and thought I might get better service....Wrong! The male clerk that was helping customers had a flosser in his mouth touchingly and smacking his lips. Then he would talk to people with it in his mouth. Huge shootout to Bree & Sergio for helping me to locate 3 parcels that were mis-delivered. Bree is a gem of a carrier and is always SO friendly to me & my daughter. We are always sad when it's her day off & we get a sub! Sergio was really friendly over the phone.
