Came in at 12:30 on a weekday. Yes there was a line, but with 3 tellers, it cleared up in under 10minutes.

One star because i have no choice but if i can leave none i would. One day i went with my mother to mail some letters. Asked one clerk a question, attitude galore. I needed a pen but there was none to be found. One clerk sent me to the other window to check for one. I told her there was none, she refused to lend me one. Finally after looking around for one she lends me one with a huge attitude. Service needs to improve big time here. read more

The most useless post office I have every been to. ZERO STARS. Rude workers. They never even try to deliver any items. They just stick a notice on the door, completely wasting people's time when they stay home and wait for packages. And then when I wait in line to pick up the package, they never even have it! It is allegedly on a truck for delivery. But when you request redelivery, they never even try to deliver it! Isn't that your jobs?!?!? To deliver stuff!! A complete disgrace to the USPS. Compared to another locations this location is Horrible! Customer service does not exist, time when they open is whenever they want (once I was waiting until 9:30 am instead of 9:00 am). And if you are expecting delivery in your apartment anything bigger than 1 pound package, you will be lucky if you will receive the notes that they miss you because nobody was at home (and it's not true!), someone was sitting & waiting (and it's happened with me today and not for first time!). Or last week I received a package which wasn't addressed to me, but it was in my mailbox. The package was for my neighbor who lives in a next building, and I brought it to them. And I only can imaging how many items were lost in the mail because of this post office. Why are they even open? They don't care about customers at all and it's very unfortunately. read more

I totally agree with Clara M. The competition with the PO on 125th to see who can provide the worst service is neck in neck. However, the worst service award should go to 125th! I waited in line at the 125th PO (twice each time!) over an hour: first, for a return receipt requested envelope; second, for a box return in it's original box that CLEARLY stated "pillows", yet the VERY unmotivated clerk asked what was in the package and if it was heavy. Umm, can you read? Did I mention the ATTITUDE? I would have said something directly (but, did give her quite the dress down with my tone of voice -- as in "why do you still have a job?), but she probably would have done something with her claw-like nails. Just to let you know, it's actually cheaper to mail from a FedEx/Kinkos than the USPS. UPS is more expensive, however, and it's not great (but still better than USPS). Honestly, I think they should shut USPS down and go private -- so much better service! When they said they may have to stop weekend mail delivery (USPS), I thought -- who cares? Worst. Post office. Ever. It's where packages go when they can't deliver to my building, so ... I have to come here. You must get in the main line to pick up a package. The window for packages is rarely, if ever, open. Under staffed? Under everything. Last week I timed the minutes it took (on my iPhone) from the start of the line to the window. 40 minutes. Outdated post office, no machines so the line is always long. If you were equidistant from this post office and the manhattanville (125 st) office, I would go to the manhattanville one no question. They are a bigger outpost, and have more services. The line is equally long there though if you do need to talk to a human being. BEWARE: YOUR STUFF WILL GET STOLEN, PACKAGES WILL BE OPENED! Mailed winter clothes up to NY from FL and forgot to add apartment number so it was undeliverable as addressed! I tracked the box for four days going to the P.O. To speak to Workers, they are NOT friendly or enthused to help, they did however open my BOX and steal my Gucci boots before managing to deliver my box after four days of me going there asking questions! Unprofessional, untrustworthy, slow and just down right lazy!!! They keep the phone off the ringer all day to avoid calls!!! The post man looks like a Thug and knocks only once ... Worst customer service ever. Waiting for 45 minutes in line was the best part of this experience. The overt rudeness and theatrical antics of the postal worker were unrivaled. I have never before seen such a perfect combination of ineptitude and hostility. I was literally shaking when I left. Unbelievable - I've lived in developing countries with my job and this post office is the worst I have ever seen. Not only are the staff hostile and inefficient (aside from one young woman that I only saw one time who was pleasant and seemed alone in her quest to get the line moving) the lines are usually out the door. I can not overstate how absurd it is - you have to experience it to believe the mismanagement of this location. I also disagree that it is understaffed - if the people behind the glass actually moved beyond a snails pace it would speed up the process. This post office looks like someplace in a 3 rd world country. Dingy and unwelcoming. The staff is not much better. There seems to be little customer friendly/.service attitude with them. They appear totally detached and aloof from even the simplest niceties. I hate to say that the post office on west 125 Th street is much better- they lost my mail for a month. Approximately 1 pm on Friday, February 22, 2019, I step up to the packages window with a question. The lady at the window does not answer my question and is dismissive. I ask it again. She again, is dismissive. I politely ask it a third time, she takes a breath, rolls her eyes, and then badgers me, questioning me. Finally, after a fourth try, I get my question answered. Insanely poor management or incredibly understaffed, like almost every other USPS location in the city. Avoid at all costs - I've never seen the line not stretch to the door. On the other hand, the day-to-day staff are fantastic, and deserve commendation for what they put up with. Despite the fact that they always appear ridiculously overworked, they've never been anything but pleasant to me, including when I've had to bother them on the phone during the holiday season. They do seem to make an effort to cull people picking up packages from the line and getting them out as quickly as possible, which is much appreciated. read more

I just don't understand why this post office has to be this way. I moved just a couple streets over and now this is my post office instead of the one at 125th street, which sucks because that one was always pretty good about delivering mail and being helpful if you have a pickup. For some reason, deliveries consistently fail through this post office and I have to go to pick stuff up, which would be annoying but fine if it weren't for the fact that they only staff 2 people at a time, so the line is always super long and everyone is surly. It's a hilariously dingy office, too. It could be a lot better. My recent experience has been the worst, though. Received a note that they attempted delivery and would not reattempt, so it needed to be picked up, as usual, because they can never deliver if you're not there to personally receive every package. Went 3 days after receiving the note on a Saturday (which said it would be available 24 hours later) and they said "nope, it's out for redelivery." So I left and waited. Delivery was not attempted for a week, so I went back the next Saturday and they said "it's not here, it must be out somewhere, we'll contact you when we find it." It's been another week since then and I haven't been contacted, so it's clearly been lost somewhere by this specific post office. As others have said, go to up to the post office on 125th if you're not reliant on this post office -- it's much, much better. read more

This Post Office is horrible. Carriers in this area never ring the bell to see if you're home, and then they say "package cannot be delivered." So you end up going to this post office to pick it up, and there's a 50/50 shot they're able to find the package in the back. When they can't find it the excuse is always "It's at 125th St still, it's not our fault." The Indian woman who works the package pick-up window is obnoxious and should be put up for a performance review. I guarantee you she would be terminated instantly. It takes her at least 8 minutes to find a package, and starts arguing with people in line when they ask questions. Probably the worst post office in NYC. read more

This is by far the worst post office in the universe. I've been here 6 times the last 2 years. I avoid them like the pest. The employees will do whatever it takes to "do nothing". Some days they have "full staff".. at least 4 employees on the windows. Other days just two. Maybe the rest are sleeping under the desks! In one occasion one lady left a customer on the window more than 40 minutes. Her excuse was that she went to the bathroom. Today a client didn't had enough to pay.. so she went home and come back.... guess what.!. the employee didn't help the next customer.. she waited the client. So we all watched her for 15 minutes... the line had 13 persons.. These employees don't deserve their jobs. Fire them and the supervisor.. Get new people please. read more

This may be the worse post office in the country, the staff are beyond lazy and incompetent, unpleasant, surly, slow and indifferent...did i mention lazy? This is a perfect example of how government employees are almost impossible to fire because these people don't give a damn about anything. There hours are 'supposed' to be 8:30-5:30 but that's not how they operate at this branch. The doors might open at 8:30 but no one is actually manning a window at 8:30...or 8:40, or even 8:50, it's kinda whenever they feel like it. They also never have more than 2 windows operating at once because someone is always taking a break. They have a package pickup window but that is never staffed either so you get stuck waiting in the long line with people buying money orders, buying stamps, shipping boxes and arguing with the clerks. And when you do finally get to the front of the line to pick up your package the big fat ass clerk treats you like crap and huffs this huge sigh because you are inconveniencing her and forcing her to get off her fat ass and actually do something for once. Seriously, stay far away from this location, pick any other one, it's worth it read more

A nightmare. Pure incompetence. Amazon notified me that a package I was expecting couldn't be delivered because this post office claimed the address on the shipping label was wrong. (1) The package had the exact same address as all the mail that the PO delivers to me 6 days a week. (2) Amazon (and other large shippers) has an automated system that checks incorrect addresses. (3) The address on the order conforms to the very same address that the USPS website lists for my apartment, right down to the 9-digit zip code. And I said that Amazon notified me about this? Yes, and ONLY Amazon. The PO driver couldn't be bothered to leave a delivery notice. So I called Amazon to make arrangements for redelivery. (I first tried calling the main toll-free number for the PO and the recorded voice said the current wait to speak to someone was 48 minutes. Nice, huh?) The next day, no package and NO DELIVERY NOTICE SLIP AGAIN, but I got another email from Amazon saying the package couldn't be delivered. Two more days go by and no package, but this time, I finally got a delivery notice. It only took THREE TIMES. The notice said the package could be picked up after 10 am on 6/21. I went there this morning, 6/22, and was told the package wasn't there. I showed the woman the notice that said the package was supposed to have been available for nearly the last 24 hours according to THEIR OWN DELIVERY NOTICE. She said, "Sorry -- the packages were sorted late last night." So now ANOTHER DAY without my package and another day I'll have to take time out of my morning for. And no, this isn't the first time the PO has attempted a delivery and not left a notice. From now on, I'll have everything shipped to work, even though that means lugging it all home on the subway. But it's better than this ridiculous joke of a post office. I'd give it ZERO stars if I could. read more

USPS: sloppy, lack of accountability, manners, work ethics. Mail regularly doesn't get delivered. Scheduled redelivery remains unanswered just as filing for lost mail pieces does. The staff at the local post office has attitude (instead of education and basic common sense, presumably). USPS Customer Service is hiding behind a DEEP telephone tree. After you make it through a painful voice menu on the call, wait times are regularly "over an hour." After 1 hour and 44 minutes, I finally spoke with a human. All promises to help -- informing the station, filing another search request, having me expect a call from the station, NOTHING has materialized except eerie silence. I called the station this morning -- they just don't pick up so I called 10 times and let it ring and ring and ring until finally someone picked up. Rather than understanding the problem and focusing on the goal of finding the mail piece, the person made a point of getting into an argument, lecturing me, and creating an overall very unpleasant customer experience -- adding insult to injury. I feel bad for USPS being under enormous competitive pressure but performing at that level doesn't warrant keeping them around. USPS might as well collapse and disappear. Can I give half a star? long lines - check? Lost mail - check. Uninformed personal - check. how long does it take to get a letter they are holding for you? 3 visits, for calls, 3 complaints. Don't expect them to find the letter they are supposed to hold for you, or your money order. I went there to pick up registered letter "for delivery service you can rely on, choose the Us postal service. For the delivery of something valuable choose registered mail because it's fully controlled!" but the letter was nowhere to be found. At the same time they send a guy away who wanted to pick up a letter with a money order. They told him he has to wait 30 days to get the money back or he could go to New Jersey and pick it up there, despite admitting that it was supposed to be there, in Harlem. He left with totally confused look at his face - It's so easy the mistreat foreigners when their English isn't perfect - right? Now, if you want some more entertainment, call USPS at 800 2221811 or 800 275 8777 - where they tell you "we get more done in less time" - I just called 4 times, just to got hung up by Sheila, Thomas, + Karen, there customer scare service reps as way of saying "we're not here to help, we are the pretenders". Then Tony came on to confirm that the number is just a call center - they are there to listen to your problem and then tell you that they can't do anything. That is actually their job - just read to you what you can find on the USPS tracking website. Nothing else. But they happily send you back to the post office in question to raise hell to get your letter, per Chris. As much as it pains me - I'd say go with FedEx or UPS - at least you get your money back if they don't deliver in time. At the same time, given their attitude, I'd have to rethink my stand on union jobs and that is sad thing to say in my book. read more

This is one of the worst USPS locations in this country. They never deliver your packages and it takes at least an hour to go pick them up.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Going to this post office is like descending the rings of hell. There was one woman doing everything, averaging 20 minutes per customer. You can't ask a question of anyone. After 45 minutes in a line of 3 people, I found out I had to go to another location for my mail. Government cut backs seem to disproportionately impact certain neighborhoods and the under staffing of this location makes that abundantly clear. I am very disappointed with the way i have been receiving my cards. For a few years now, whenever i receive a "Mother's Day card, Birthday, etc , my mail has been opened on the side or the bottom of the envelope. Somebody is shady in the post office, probably looking for money in the cards. This happens even when i send a card to somebody, i am told that the card is opened. read more

I wish I could give zero stars! This post office is a disgrace! You have lines that are at the damn door and only 2 people working. If they had the separate line for people picking up packages then it would make it better. But no they have to make it more difficult. The part that pissed me off is the incident that happened 2 weeks ago. I recently realized that there was a package there for me and I had to get it by November 19th or else they're sending it back to the shipper. That was fine. What wasn't fine was that the post office had a flood and they were closed until further notice. I decided to do a redelivery for that package and another package I recently missed. The packages never came even though both tracking numbers said they're in transit. I waited a few days and decided to go back to the post office and it was still closed but there was a lady at the door to get people's packages. I showed her the tracking number on my phone and she telling me it's in transit and looking at me like I'm stupid. I explained to her that I KNOW that but it still hasn't arrived and I just wanted her to see if it was still in there. She said no and if it says it's in transit then it must still be on the truck. I waited until they re opened and one of my packages was there. The other one got sent back since November 19th past. If that nasty woman just checked for my package I wouldn't have this problem. Now I have to re ordered those 3 items and one of them is out of stock. That's my stupid luck. If you miss your package, don't schedule a redelivery because I did it twice and they never redelivered. I cancelled my beloved amazon subscription because they have a contract with USPS. The carrier from this office never attempts to deliver. They don't even ring your bell. Only after checking my tracking info every half hour do I get the lying memo that they attempted to deliver. Since they deliver around 7-9 pm its always too late to even try and go straight to this office which closes at 5. Ive made multiple complaints. No one has contacted me since my latest complaint on March 1st. Your best bet is to just call the postal police on these lazy carriers so they can be watched and lose their jobs." read more

My experience is just like everyone else's; horrendous. I don't believe they actually attempt to deliver my Amazon orders. Wait all day just to find an email that no one was here to accept package. I was here. Unable to sign up for redelivery as it says my address is unavailable. No tickets are ever left as mentioned in the email. Worst post office I've ever been to. The few employees that actually were there were very unpleasant and did not seem interested in helping at all. The lines are enormous because there are so few staff members, and the facility itself is really dirty. I asked an employee to track a package, and she made me get out of line (which I had just waited in for 20 minutes), write it on a piece of paper, and then get back in line just so she could type it into the computer instead of just letting me read the number to her. HUGE waste of time and so rude. I'm so not surprised that the other reviews are equally as scathing. It's a dirty, miserable place that left me in a terrible mood. read more

I made a mistake on the zip code of my package, resulting in me getting the runaround between this station and the Manhattanville station on a Wednesday morning. While I definitely had to come back multiple times throughout the day, the clerk at this station at the parcel window, in particular, was extremely helpful, patient, clear, and friendly. She gave me realistic expectations of when to come back (once the packages would be fully sorted) and all THREE times I stopped in (8:45am, 10:30am, and 12:30pm) there was no more than 1 person in line ahead of me. I'm sure Saturdays are not nearly as easy, but the kind and attentive employees here deserve credit! Furthermore, I ran into the delivery girl while I was looking for my package and she went above and beyond to help look for it, while on delivery, and to advise me as to when I can expect it to be accessible at the post office. This is the worst post office I've ever been to in Manhattan, its simply unacceptable how its run and many of the workers there need to be farmed out to other locations and taught how to serve the public. This time around there was a flood and this shut down the window side of the entire post office, for days now there has been no service. I do not understand why they would not bring in the self service machines, why would they not set up a mobile truck out front and keep things flowing? They have the resources to do all of that. I've had two trips there (same day because I was told to come back) and left empty handed. I asked for a supervisor and he was slow, lethargic and had no real information. This place should be gutted. There was one woman there who seemed to be on the ball, not sure why she was not running the place - - she at least had answers and came out to talk to you. read more
