The monument, as stated in the title, is in honor of those from Plainville who served in the Civil War. There is also a cannon behind him, presumably also from the Civil War as it's dated 1863. Luckily it's pointed at the post office and not the pedestal (and also filled in with concrete). There are two benches in front of this monument where you can relax, and there are other monuments to other wars located in the park.

This very imposing granite monument was dedicated way back in 1913. It stands 22 feet tall and represents a uniformed Union soldier carrying a flag or a banner. The bottom of the flagpole rests on the ground while its pointed top rises over his left soldier. A simple inscription reads "In Memory of the Defenders of the Flag 1861-65". The statue was originally located in Central Square near the Municipal Complex, but was relocated to Veterans Memorial Park in 1945. One cool thing I found while researching its history was that when the statue was dismantled for the move, the contractors found a stash of old coins and a list of the 1913 workers hidden between sections of the monument. I love the fact they these artifacts, were lovingly re-installed where they were placed 100 years ago. How sweet is that?

One woman that works there will literally be in her pajamas on her shift. I already can't stand coming in there but I'm writing this review because of a particular instance I just had. I walked in to drop off a prepaid label and the second I walk in music is blaring off of a portable speaker. They're playing ratchet dance music and the pajama girl literally twerked multiple times while customers were in there. Just the most completely unprofessional group of employees I've ever seen. I had a question I asked pajama girl and she obviously has something crawled up where the sun don't shine cause as I was walking out I heard her talking about me disrespectfully. Truly ignorant and repulsive staff.

I came in with a bunch of Amazon returns. Only one had to be processed at the counter, the rest I was able to complete at the self serve kiosk. The employee who helped me was so unfriendly. Not even a hello. But that doesn't really bother me, most young people in the customer service industry behave this way. The issue was, she walked away from the register in the middle of my transaction. Didn't say a word to me and just left me standing there. After about 5-7 minutes of me waiting, I asked the other employee if she knew where the other girl went or if she could help me. She just continued waiting on new customers while I stood there. The other employee eventually finished my transaction and I never saw the other girl. Service here has gone downhill, might be worth the drive to the Southington location.
