I've yet to have a GOOD Post Office experience, so that must be taken into consideration for ANY review of the USPS. I spent less time walking to this post office than I did waiting for the one and only postman to return to his desk from lunch. At least he was somewhat cheerful. But this teeny tiny itty bitty post office smells like it used to be a sad pet store... that suffocating stench of animal feces seems to be permanently leached into the grout of the laminate tile. and of course it appears to be more of a fire hazard than any kind of organized service. Ok. We live in the neighborhood, for over 35 years and are very supportive of all businesses. But must admit the 1 star reviews are kind to the performance of this Post Office and it's employee. Once again I tried to mail a small package this morning. As I was driving over there I wondered if once again it would be Break Time for the employee. Well what do you know...I arrived at 11:15 and as usual he was locking the door. He said "come back in15 minutes I'm taking a break "! This happens constantly. The break time seems to vary. It is the worst customer service of any business I have encountered. At a time when the usps is having financial problems, losing market share to Fed ex And UPS I cannot understand how they tolerate such poor customer service. I don't believe they read these reviews on Yelp. If a supervisor read them I would hope they would make changes. We own a small business and if we treated customers this way we wouldn't deserve to be in business. I suggest we need to send our feedback to the USPS Postmaster. read more

This post office is tiny and there is only one employee. I always come between 1pm-3pm and so far even if there is a line, it's never unbearable. Steve is the best! I'm so used to being treated like trash whenever I have to go to a post office that I've come to really dread it. But coming here is always a pleasure. He's very nice and friendly. He'll treat you real well. He prefers it if you use the words "affordable option" as opposed to "cheap option" which I thought was kind of funny. He's really not slow, we're all just at the mercy of the the computer system. Don't forget that you have the option to buy a scale and do everything online if you want to. read more

Steve gets a bad rap. The place is understaffed and he always has to work solo. There is a high volume of business and the poor guy never truly gets a real break. I've personally witnessed people being relentlessly rude to him over things that are out of his control. I've read reviews saying that he's the one that's rude, but honestly, it's hard to have a smile on your face when people treat you like shit. USPS lost a very important package of mine - something my mom sent me with things that were once owned by my late grandmother. So, you can tell how much this has affected me. In my state of frustration, Steve has been helpful (as much as he can be) and I appreciate him. I'll continue to frequent Playa Post Office. read more

Steve is an asshole and upset that he has to drag himself into work every day. Didn't have his mask on & burped in my face. Tried to get him to finish setting up a PO Box that I initiated online and he had no clue what to do. Then when I tried to explain to him what he needed to do on the computer screen (literally pressing that I presented my driver's license & vehicle registration card) he got mad & said, "Get lost lady" as he walked back into the mailroom. So I stood there and waited. 10 mins later, he returns to the front counter and alas..I hadn't gotten lost. This time he allowed me to explain to him what to press on the screen. Never open the hours stated on the front door. Once you're in, the solitary employee, is pretty clueless, barely let's you finish your request before answering a different question. He's a "stopped in time" kinda mindset, like so many USPS employees. The female who answered the phone gave me a ton of attitude for wondering what the heck was up with my mail when it took 3 weeks to get my last package because of them not being open when they were supposed to be. And of course they didn't have the stamps I needed. At THE POST OFFICE! I may as well take this opportunity to complain about having to pay for shipping when I order stamps online, too. What's that about!? Not recommended. The Marina Del Rey location is also, sadly in need of being torched. I like the Manhattan Beach location down the road, although, they too are usually out of the stamp denomination you want, at least they are open. But plan to wait in line. read more

Charlene was an incredible representation of the company. She might be the sole purpose this was a five star experience. Service was thorough, moved pretty quickly, she was incredibly warm and professional. This location itself was pretty small but didn't cause any issues for us. Parking was free and easy and it wasn't hectic and crowded like most post office locations. read more

This place is hell on Earth. They are NEVER there when you arrive, no matter what time, it's always a note saying "Lunch back in one hour". The lone woman working here is miserable, rude, not helpful in any way. Today, they told me they don't accept UPS or FedEx, only USPS. It's the post office, I've never heard of such a thing. Worst post office of all time, anywhere! I've lived here and put up with this disaster for 25 years. Today was the final straw! I've found Yelp so here goes! Went today - 10AM - PO Closed - A mail carrier was waiting - he needed to pick up something - said someone is coming from Venice in 10-15 mins - I waited half hour - Gave up. I watched 3 people arrive, wait, then give up. Pitiful. Turns out Steve was sick, he was sick yesterday too! And after taking a week's vacation. Sounds like he wanted a longer vacation. And now, two weeks before Christmas, it's closed. It's a one man Post Office - so - it's closed. Come On - This is LA - This isn't Hooterville - Put another body in there!! This Post office never has stamps. Really, a Post office that doesn't carry stamps? I can pick up forever stamps at any Ralphs, but not here. Apparently it's too much for Steve to request supplies, or, to pick them up from the substation, or to do anything about it. You should count on 15-20 mins per person in line. Walk in with 3 people in front of you - It's likely to be an hour wait. Steve is so terminally slow, in part because he has to tell you: how much his job is killing him, how much he hates the post office, how unfair they are to him. Fire Steve. He hates working for the Post office. He has told me so on numerous occasions. Why do you have someone working for you who constantly disparages your enterprise? This is my favorite post office. Hardly ever a line and if there is, it's usually at max 3 or 4 people. The workers there are very personable, and I do believe I was able to buy my Star Wars stamps there with no problem. It's a treasured post office for the locals. read more

Agree with Jess, seriously. Nothing cooler than having your own post office right on the corner. Been using this post office for more than a decade and it always feels like I have "my own post office". Whenever working out of the home office I can just stroll down to the corner to ship out prints to my clients. This post office is definitely unique, very small. I think they can do pretty much anything the main post office can do, though the hours may be limited. So check the hours before assuming. Steve is a handy cat as others have mentioned. Note parking at this little plaza can be a pain, so if you're not within walking distance or really close you might be well off going to the marina. read more

No wonder amazon is taking over the world, USPS is the most unorganized, incompetent system in America. I did not know my package would require a signature so they left a parcel slip on Monday 9/16. That day I scheduled a redelivery for 9/17 as prompted by usps.com. On 9/18 I received a confirmation email that my redelivery was scheduled, a day after I was actually supposed to receive it... It is now 9/20 and I called the center 10 times to check the status of my delivery as I have not received any updates, I'm sure you can guess- no answers and no voicemail option. I LEAVE WORK mid day to track down my package and arrive here and they tell me it's out for delivery.... I could have avoided taking time off work had they answered the phone and informed me that. I called again while I was in the store as a test and the phone did not ring, they do not accept calls but they have a working phone line? Makes perfect sense. Lastly, they gave me the phone# of the center that could track down/contact my driver and obviously, that phone line was absolutely worthless too. This place is completely god-awful. It's right across the street from me, too, and it's a shame because it'd be so convenient. IT'S NOT. I tried to mail a small package today. The first time I went, there was a line of maybe 10 people out the door. No big deal, I'll just wait on a bench with my iPOD. 3 songs (and 15 minutes later) the line hadn't budged. I peek inside to see the old guy at the counter just talking/joking with an elderly woman, catching up on old times, oblivious to the 10 impatient people waiting. (It's almost 90 degrees today too, so it's hot as hell.) I decided to just return in an hour. I return in an hour, only to have the door shut in my face because the old guy working the counter said, "I'M GOING ON BREAK. WE'LL BE OPEN AGAIN IN 30 MINUTES." Going on break my fucking ASS. Why not hire another damn worker?! It's the holiday season, and you definitely need extra help. Hey old guy- hire someone else to help you, and stop bullshitting with the customers. This is the worst post office I've ever been stuck dealing with. The 5 stars are for poor Steve who is stuck ALONE in this location with no help, even now, during the holidays. It's slow inefficient and all the things you would expect from a horribly understaffed business, but the guy does the best he can. These guys are a bunch of lazies. If that's even the word. I try to avoid this place. I went there only 3-4 times and have had bad experiences each time. I usually ship a lot of packages, and whenever they saw me, they gave me this look like.. oh god she's back again. The first two times.. they were okay with it, but the 3rd or 4th time, they were like, you can only come during non-peak hours. This coming from the korean guy. He told me I cant bring all the stuff into there during peak hours to ship stuff. I got mad at him and was like what the hell. What kind of rule is that. So.. he grudginly took my packages.. Funny thing though, 2-3 of my packages from that shipment didn't make it to it's final destination. BAD, very BAD post office workers at the playa del rey office.
