Sadly, the PDR post office continues to go downhill. I am tired of trying to mail a package to be told (and rudely to boot) that it is time for his break and I need to leave. If there is a daily authorized break, then it should be listed on the hours at the door. The lack of service is deplorable really. And it seems Steve becomes more surly and rude each day. Clearly, he has been a disgruntled employee for years now. .... but that is absolutely no excuse to treat paying customers poorly. I sent a package on Tuesday of this week and it still was not tracking by eod on Thursday! When I went to the Play Del Rey PO, where I dropped it off, they said they do not scan packages there and packages get taken to another location (which the clerk did not tell me where) to get scanned and ship. I find this a very strange practice as one has to wonder where is the security of you shipment. It's been several days now and I went to inquire where my package was and where did it go or not go! The PO clerk was absolutely no help and went on to defensively say they are overworked (really doubt it as this is a sleepy location) and that there was nothing she could do I would just have to wait and see if it gets delivered. This is about the. third time I have had problems with letters and packages leaving this particular office. All the clerks in this office hate their jobs, are not helpful and feel put out that they have to be open! So sad as there are lots of happy great postal workers. I feel like they need to find some upbeat people to work at this location or close it so the neighborhood does not have to endure their attitude. read more

This post office is great because its local and convenient. The people that work there are also very nice. AND they listen to what you need! The only thing about this location, is that the hours are limited, and there is usually only one person at the counter. So if you need to bring packages in here, be prepared to stay in line for a little while. There are other post offices that are not too far that I can go to if needed. read more

This post office is tiny, and be prepared to wait in line for a while if you go during the wrong time. I've waited 30-40 minutes before. I don't blame the employees at all. When I usually walk in, there's one employee working the window and sometimes the phone is ringing off the hook. In the afternoon, the line can sometimes extend to the drop off box. I think the employees do a good job considering the stress they're put under. read more

Ok, im going let you in on a secret... This post office is rarely used. You an just walk right in and and do Ur business like Ur in some small one light town(well, playa del rey is almost a one light town), but U know what I mean. They were out of "forever" stamps today, so I gave them a 4 star... I don't think this is the norm though. read more

It's one thing to be closed on Saturdays and only open from 9-5 Monday-Friday. It's another thing to have only one staff member working and also close from 1:30 pm-2:30 pm. read more

I was running late and literally arrived at this post office at 5pm on a Wednesday. The gentleman behind the counter informed me that he was closed, but said that he would help me anyway. A big thank you to this gentleman!! I needed these two items out today and he definitely helped me out!! It was ultimately my fault for running behind and losing track of time. this post office is not big but does the same as other post offices. The only thing is the hours are not enough to service the area.

I have twins and my double stroller fits everywhere a wheelchair goes, which is EVERY public door I've been through! This post office is not handicap accessible. They are not in compliance with ADA clearance guidelines. They COULD be if they would move their red, cardboard display case out of the doorway. There is room on the left side, but when I asked Steve he said no. How am I supposed to hold two babies for a 45 minute wait, and the mail/packages I need to send? I was very embarrassed the first time I tried to enter with my stroller but couldn't...and I was very irritated because any mother knows it can take hours to get out of the house in the first place to run your errands. It would be awfully embarrassing for a handicap person to make their way into a post office only to learn that they can't fit...in front of a long line of people. Please scoot your display case over for the members of your community! Steve is usually very nice (except this experience) but the lines are terrible. Almost every time I go there is a lady shipping a years worth of mail. PLEASE stop doing that!!! It's terribly rude, so please find a larger post office if you have a large order so you don't hold everyone up. read more

A shabby bit of Americana--post-its all over the place, scrawled "Closed--On Break" messages taped to the door, boxes piled willy-nilly, very few post office supplies (like Priority packaging), endless fretting about the computer and postage machine by the postmaster, and a general atmosphere of senile chaos. Visiting post office employees from better-run Playa Vista and Venice post offices just roll their eyes. If you are told your package is being held at Playa del Rey, trust me--it is not. When sending a package with a tracking number, don't just leave it on the counter--watch to see it scanned into the system. I just spent 30 days trying to find a 2-day Priority package I sent to Florida--30 days all because it wasn't scanned at Playa del Rey before being picked up. Just returned from this PO seeking a tracked package "being held at the Playa del Rey post office," according to usps.com tracking. Nope. Where is it? Your guess is as good as mine. Let's hope amazon takes over post office deliveries very soon! read more

If the service at this Post Office location were ANY other business it was be OUT of business. Yes, it's largely serviced by one person, one person who is rude and un-professional. I have seen one other person there to try and help, and he was rude to them as well. How can the US Postal Service allow this? I go out of my way to avoid using our local post office. The only people who like this post office are locals who have known Steve (the only guy who now works there) for years, and are on his "good" side. He is the absolute worst. He blatantly lied to me today...told me his receipt machine was broken, because he is flat out lazy. I pressed, told him there was no way I was leaving without a receipt. I'd like to give 3.5 stars based on an experience I had yesterday. I've been going here for about 2 years. I've always enjoyed Steve and his attitude. He's kinda quirky and happy...always willing to chat and make it as fun of a process as possible. He's rather quick too. Well, yesterday I arrived about 4:45pm. That's 15 minutes before they closed, and there was a line of about 7 people. I waited and waited. As I waited, I noticed that the other postal worker at the counter (next to Steve) was being rather ummm "harsh" to the customers. Making faces at their packages, making them feel stupid for how things were packaged or the way they approached her. She just plain ole spoke to them like they were some kind of idiot (her name is Yolanda by the way). I was next in like and I was almost nervous thinking I was going to have to deal with her instead of Steve. Well, I got her....and boy did she give me a hard time! I had 2 packages (for soldiers mind you) and 1 little envelope that I wanted to send 1st class, but needed a price quote. She gave me a hard time for the price quote, then told me I had it packaged wrong. Listen lady, I've been sending these a while now, I think I know what to do and what's cheapest. Shut up! I asked her if I needed a customs form for the other pkgs and she wrinkled her brow, stiffened her lip and I swear if she were my mom she would have slapped me. Apparently that was an innapropriate question for some reason. She threw some customs forms at me and told me to "HURRY UP" since they were closing. I went to fill them out and she kept telling me that maybe it would be better to come back tomorrow...I asked her if she could wait 2 minutes and she then told me to hurry up again. All she did was babble and mumble telling me that I was making her late. She was the one to told me to go fill them out like she had time! She could have told me in the 1st place to come back tomorrow! She kept telling me to hurry up and finally I lost my patience and told her I was going to leave since I was obviuosly posing a HUUUGE problem to her. Well, that must have caught her off-guard (Steve was standing right there watching the whole thing as I was the last person there) and she tried to back track a little bit saying that there was time and that since they were military packages and since I came in in a "giving mood" that she was willing to be "giving" as well. My ass. I packed my s*&^ up and marched out of there as she was attempting to sound sad that I was leaving. I hope she got an earful from my buddy Steve when I left, but I doubt it. She was absolutely rotten and completely ruined what I loved so much about this place, patience and politeness (is that a word?). Not sure if I'll go back, but I won't until I get a word in with the postmaster! read more

This Post Office should be shut down. It is poorly managed and there is no organization going on there. I received a tag that my package was supposed to be there. I waited almost 30 minutes waiting for Steve to find the package. I could hear him rummaging around in the back like he was going through a garage that is piled high with junk. The Post office should not be allowed to run this way. I requested to have the package redelivered to my address online and still no package. Seriously how difficult is it to deliver a package in your neighborhood? The service is always super slow and they always seem to be at lunch. If they were a regular business they would go out of business. Stay away from this post office it is not worth the drama and your packages will be lost.... read more

Though VERY convenient this post office is THE perfect example of poor governmental service and employees who are both rude and lazy. These employees are the reason why the postal service is in trouble. Why stand in line to be treated poorly when you can do more online or use another service. I only use them when there's NO other alternative. BTW, El Segundo post office and usually Marina del rey provide better service. read more

As a local PDR resident, I was determined to like our tiny outpost of a post office. I'm a glass half full kinda gal, yknow. I told myself it was funny that they never have stamps for sale (seriously)? I told myself it was quaint that there is only one employee who's burnt out, tired, and grumpy (but nice if you're nice to him). I tried not to be frustrated that half the time I show up when the one employee is on his break and closes the office. I really tried. But really this dingy little office is a purgatorial black hole. I showed up today during the "break," left, then came back right at 5 hoping to just ask a quick question. Pushing it, I know, but I got "ma'amed in the most contemptuous way possible. One man is always working when I come in, and provides the most confusing, slow service. He seems to never be able to give you the service you want and makes things difficult. I've never had an experience at any USPS like this one...if the line is only a few people long expect a wait of at least 20 minutes. Very frustrating! read more

The old man who works there didn't want to give me estimated price of delivery until I provide to him the exact address, but I didn't have the exact address, I sked him to inpur just NYC and tell me the price, but he refused. It's a very wierd post office, looks like middle west deep countryside post office. They sell everything, even boxes and package materials, but it's freee in other branches. This and other post offices in the area have been out of stamps for weeks. Difficult to do business with them when the management can't provide the supplies. Wake up management or turn business over to private enterprise, guaranteed to be better. Congress needs to get a wake up call also and approve the cuts recommended by the Postmaster General! This is a joke for a post office. I was in there a few months ago to purchase stamps. They didn't have any? The nasty old guy was quite mean when I asked him if I was in a post office. I'm sorry your a post office why don't you have stamps???????? I made my way back earlier this week to send out a package via priority mail. I waited at the counter after searching for priority mail labels and the old guy was back and ignoring me. He then said, "We don't have them here...you have to BUY labels for $0.99. I again asked and looked around to make sure I was in a post office. He was nasty yet again. During check out I asked to purchase stamps. They were out of them as well. This post office has massive logistic problems and poor customer service. I'm even sure if it's really a post office. On two occasions they didnt' have stamps.
