I have always liked the North Riverside, IL post office. That is until yesterday, Monday, March 23,…read moremorning. The girl working at approximately 10am was rude and full of attitude. We came in to send letters by certified mail, and she could not have been less helpful. And the way she spoke to me was completely uncalled for. I asked why I was getting so much (bad) attitude from her and she snapped that she wasn't giving me attitude. I'd never sent mail certified, and she barely pointed me in the right direction to pick up the certified mail cards. I didn't realize I didn't have to fill out anything, and when I asked about that she she told me, "I just said you don't have to fill anything out." She was more interested in her hair extensions than she was in helping people. She barely spoke loud enough to hear, and she snapped and was very curt. In the middle of her putting the individual stickers on the letters, the "face emoji's" came up on the screen. She didn't leave the screen up long enough for me to press the "dissatisfied" emoji, as she shut it down right away. I'm so disappointed after my family being in the community since the early 1960s. Her customer service definitely left much to to be desired. Perhaps a training session? Perhaps just dismissing her! I'm giving 2 stars only because she did say (to my mother), "have a nice day" as I'm sure she wouldn't have said anything more directly to me. And she did put all the stickers on the certified envelopes. As another review said, "(this) worker(s) treats customers like (she's) doing us a favor. Disrespectful and terrible.

I recently visited this post office to get my fingerprints done. While waiting, the postmaster (or…read morea company employee who seemed to be in charge) loudly called for additional help up front because some staff who should have been there weren't present, trying to get the line moving faster. Eventually, Cindy assisted us. She was a bit curt at first, but things became less awkward once the fingerprinting process began. The fingerprint service costs $50, but you must register beforehand and bring a barcode and confirmation number to be serviced. I also learned they offer passport and other identity services, which is convenient. Just keep in mind they close at 3p on Saturdays, which is earlier than many other locations. Overall, it was an okay experience, but coming prepared with your registration details helps expedite the process.

While waiting in line we witnessed the employee, Cindy, being not only rude but straight up mean to customers before us. When it was our turn we were met with the same horrible attitude. She refused to help us despite having all the necessary documentation. She berated me for not having an appointment however, there is no way to make an appointment online (system down), phone number keeps redirecting, etc. She was so mean, rude, rolled her eyes at me despite literally just asking how to proceed. She just said well I cannot help you. We have never been treated like that in a public place. This post office needs to evaluate her forward-facing role. Cindy is not qualified to interact with other humans. Unless you feel like being treated like garbage for no reason whatsoever, please find an alternative location for your postal needs.

Never send anything by Federal Express to me!…read more My dad sent me a package for new years. It was supposed to arrive on Friday 23 December. The next day I was headed out of town, so I stayed home and by the door all day. I checked the door every 30-60 minutes just in case. At one point I see the door tag, ten minutes old. The doorbell was silent all day, and noone had knocked. I even tested the doorbell and it worked fine. I immediately called them and they fed me some line about how it is humanly impossible to contact the drivers for a redelivery. They also said that because it is in the driver's interest to deliver the package on one trip, there is NO WAY the driver would not have rung the bell. Best interest or not, it didn't happen. Plus right before a holiday, I imagine people want to just breeze through and go home. The guy on the phone did not care and could do nothing for me, just said to wait until Tuesday. Tuesday comes, same thing happens. No knock, no bell, just a tag. And again on Wednesday, the final attempt. I call again and cuss them out, but all they can do is have it routed to a Kinko's on Harlem. Fine whatever. I'm also informed that a deliver attempt was made on Saturday the 24th, when I didn't even get a doortag. The delivery guy clearly was not trying. Anyway, the guy on the phone says it's all set, and I can try Thursday evening. I call the Kinko's at noonish, and they have no record of it being routed to them. WTF! I call FedEx back, and they also see no record of any rerouting. So ridiculous! This guy gives a glimmer of hope in that I can stop by the FedEx delivery center in McCook by 7PM. I say fine and rush over to get this debacle over with as soon as possible. This is not what you may expect. There is no customer waiting area like at a UPS facility. There are huge trucks everywhere, and no trespassing signs even by the visitor lot. The only accessible building is a guard shack with metal detectors for all the employees and big signs telling them not to bring guns there. So glad I had my toddler with me. Mind you don't go past the gate, just hang out in a 5' by 5' spot between the door and the metal detector. I had to sign in, call the office, and wait for someone to come with a package. I mean, if you're desperate, sure, but wow. Makes whatever issues the USPS has look like nothing. Avoid this whole mess, and choose another shipping company.
