I hit traffic and was speeding like crazy to make it there on time, I walked into the building at 5 o'clock, on the dot and the doors to the utility office were locked. I knocked on the door, and all we heard was 2 ladies laughing at us. Another gentleman who worked there actually unlocked the doors to go in and ask if they coulld help Us, but they said no they already closed the drawer, and we heard some more laughing and giggling. I understand there is no requirement for them to wait for me, but how rude to say you would let me in, and then laugh at me as I showed up right when I said I was going to. I would not have come if they had just said they could not wait for me. Unbelievably rude.

Had to schedule a week and a half in advance for my license. Once there everything from taking the written test to getting my temporary license was a piece of cake. Every employee I encountered was helpful and friendly. I was told that my actual license would take 6-8 weeks to be mailed, but I got it in a week. It's good for 8 years, too! We learned that Jacob Hamblin was an amazing man who accomplished a great deal of good in his service as mission president to the American Indian tribes. We were told that he rode 30,000 miles on horseback during his 30 years of service among the Indians. The historically restored home has many interesting displays of actual family belongings or period pieces.

I love to look at the beams of wood in the ceiling and imagine someone decades ago that would have been looking at those same beams of wood. The LDS church owns and staffs the museum and dictates the script that is shared with visitors. Their narrative claims that Jacob Hamblin was called on an "'Indian Mission' and had great relationships with the Native American people." Strange, then, that the Mormon Pioneers still felt the need to set up homes in forts with 12 foot walls surrounding them. I think there's likely more to the story and includes the fact that the Mormon pioneers took over land from indigenous tribes by force. However, this review is about the home/museum and that in itself is interesting. Just take the story with a grain of salt and perhaps do further research do get the full perspective-not just one side.

Mood- Weird Stuff…read more Today was an exceptionally weird day. I went to work and wanted to see some stuff. So what better way to get that accomplished than to hop in the car and research. This Spider was fabricated out of galvanized steel by Deveren Farley in 2018. It weighs over a ton, and stands 17 feet tall. This sculpture was meant to get an emotional response from people that viewed it. The head is crafted out of Utah License plates while the belly has a stop sign on it. All of the license plates that were used came from the evidence department of the Salt Lake City PD. Originally this art installation was at Main Street in a traffic circle until a local exterminator Morgan Termite and Pest Control purchased it and changed the residence to in front of his business. Would def recommend - the thought that was put into this art installation is what drew me to come and enjoy it. Pricing is free as it is out of front of a business.
