THEY STEAL MASKS - TEAMWORK 5/27/20 We missed the package EB023967874KR: it was a package of 36 face masks. The postman left a missed package slip on our Restaurant door that said to pick it up from post office.  5/28/20 My dad went to pick up the package at the Irving's (this location) post office. The post office did not have the package. He assumed that the postman was late in delivery his package back to the post office and decided to give it an another day and come back tomorrow.  5/29/20 My dad went to the this (irving & 22nd) post office again. The same man that was working at the counter on 5/28 he gave my dad the supervisor's phone number and told my dad to call the supervisor instead. My dad was patient and willing to return since we are aware that post offices are busy due to COVID-19.  6/1/20 My dad returned to the post office again to pick up his package. The woman who was working at the counter looked for the package for about 10 minutes. She said it wasn't at the post office and track the package. She seemed to think the situation was weird and gave us the Supervisor's number again and took down my dad's name and number.  The same afternoon, the postman ( the post office and himself would not give out his name)  came to the restaurant and dropped our paper mails only. So my dad ping him and asked for our package. The postman started complaining about how busy he was from COVID-19 and that he would deliver the package on June 4th instead.  On 6/2/20 the postman returned to our restaurant and told my dad that he would deliver our package on June 3rd instead of 6/4 They exchanged the times that they were free, and the postman said he would come by 4pm on 6/4. On 6/3/20 the postman came to our restaurant again around 3pm (3:10). Since the package had been delayed for so long, my dad wanted to make sure everything was okay and all the contents were inside the box front of the our security camera that's placed outside our door. Therefore he asked the postman if it was okay to open up the package and make sure that count was correct as descriptions. The postman got defensive and angry and took the package away from my dad and told my dad to pick it up directly from the post office. We have been trying to get in contact with the supervisor on multiple occasions. We have left messages and phone calls. Doesn't work. When we tried to pick up the package and reason with the people in the mailroom, they responded by saying that the postman took back the package because my dad had refused to sign the slip that released the package. This made no sense because there was no sign of the postman trying to get my dad to sign the release form. My dad is not fluent in english but he is capable of knowing how to sign papers and receive mail, as he is an American citizen living in the US for over 19 years; he is fully capable of understanding english enough to sign off a package.  This isn't just about the package or accusing the postman of potentially stealing our package.  it's about the integrity of the postman and the supervisor( to be honest not even sure this person is the right supervisor). It's about discrimination and mistreatment. This one Irving location is covering each for each other to steal people packages. Its about how USPS government workers are refusing to communicate and understand minorities who do not have access to the English language.  We have been extremely wronged by this postman and the supervisor. The supervisor refused to listen to our side of the story. We are also very upset at the fact that the supervisor completely disregarded our request for an explanation and refused to address this issue despite multiple attempts to reach the supervisor. We refuse to stay silent in this matter as this incident was horrible mishandled by USPS and the supervisor of the this post office. This Irving location was teaming up covering for each other stealing people's goods on the side during Covid-19. Imagine 1-2 packages per day- wow that's already 60 boxes since they are open on sundays too right now. I'm here but to file a complaint, hoping I hear back from USPS SF headquarters or who ever. (Not that they don't care, they barely pay their employees that's why this is keep happening) Bottom line I went in got my package after explaining my dad's situation today 6/4/20 @4:03pm. Because I speak better English then my dad, just because I am able to file a complaint.

I love this post office. It's small. It's the closest one to me. They're reliable. AND the people there are pretty nice.

I wonder what will happen to post offices in general. We still receive correspondence written by hand by human beings. My wife's family has instilled in every generation the importance of writing thank you notes. The ratio, however, of junk mail to personal letters/postcards must be 100:1. And we would be among those outliers likely receiving more genuine material intended for us as individuals. I happen to like visiting the post office as well, like libraries. They are civic institutions. The efficiency here is about average; the line moves along. But the friendliness of the staff is exceptional. I see various reviewers have commented on the clerk named Darcy. She is chatty in the best sense -- USPS hires many employees ("there's always work at the post office"), and they ought to be encouraged either to look for other prospects like her or train them. The others also are cheery. I have a post office I rely on where I live most of the time, and the folks there are, to be honest, not engaged at best and sullen at worst.

Boxes usually sit in distribution center in S.F. for 2 or 3 days without moving regardless of what day they are posted on. Expensive, clearly addressed packages sent via priority mail to Silver City, New Mexico, 2 states away, are being routinely routed to Indianapolis, Indiana, where they sit for a minimum of 3 days. Customers cannot call or text or message postal personnel anymore, they are just sent around in circles and referred to endless, useless on-line articles. Problems are not acknowledged or documented or resolved. So nothing changes. Ground Advantage boxes take l.5 to 2 weeks to arrive in Silver City, NM, and most have been misrouted to Colorado, Alburquerque, and other locations, or made to go through 3 or 4 locations in Texas despite having legible, printed address labels. Talking to employees at the local P.O. doesn't help, even when they are presented with the receipts/postal slips from which they can see the tracking problems. If anything customers are handed a slip of paper listing postal contact phone numbers and internet links that nobody answers or whose links don't work. Customers have been totally locked out. And problems cannot be reported to postal inspectors, the links don't work and the site isn't currently being manned allegedly due to government shutdown. Customers have to just wait for several weeks to see if the packages get delivered. I just posted a priority mail box that cost almost $26.00 and was supposed to have arrived Saturday, 10/25/25 - but didn't because as with others it was misrouted and is sitting half-way across the country. So priority boxes that should arrive in 4 or 5 days are taking 8 days or more to arrive at destinations just two states away! Bottom line: Customers are being routinely ripped off and mislead and shut out by the postal service. USPS cannot fix problems they don't acknowledge!

Needless to say, it's important, and the ordeal involved us running to the consulate a couple of times to get those papers notarized. To ensure the papers arrive ASAP, I paid for the more expensive shipping option ($75). USPS lost the mail. Somehow it got sent to Bosnia. Crazy, right? The mail literally went in the opposite direction. Worse yet, since it's been returned to the US, it's treated as an import item so it's been stuck in NY customs for the past MONTH. It's been 1.5 MONTHS since I mailed it out, and it's still stuck in customs ON ITS WAY BACK TO ME. During this time, we actually went back to the consulate and re-notarized the exact same docs. Sending it out this time with Fedex or DHL. I went to the Bayview USPS at 1300 Evans, and they were actually a bit more helpful. They looked at the receipt and said the West Portal office missed some things I was supposed to fill out. For example, I needed to put a dollar value, even if it's $1. Also, I can't just write "documents" in the item description - it needed to be a lot more specific (what the docs are, how many pages, etc). The 1300 Evans office explained that it was on the agent to double check and make sure I filled out the forms correctly. Yeah, no one here did that. I'm not sure if I can trust USPS again. I've been hearing from people about their own horror stories with USPS. Someone's package got sent to SF, then went to Oakland and San Jose, before coming back to SF again... it literally went on a joyride around the Bay Area! But if I MUST use USPS again, I'd probably go to the 1300 Evans branch - they're bigger and way more knowledgeable.

This office doesn't carry any 4 cents or lower denomination stamps that I can use with older stamps to add up to the current 78 cents first class fee. You go in and ask a question and he's lecturing you. Doesn't greet you back after you say "good morning " and doesn't thank you. Why is he even in the front office dealing with customers? They need to screen and hire nice people.

I wouldn't be shocked if employees were returning packages back to avoid shipping them or just dropping them at random houses. There is endless junk mail from USPS as well. 95% of the mail is citywide run marketing ads and junk coupons that I do not wish to receive. When I was there last the person in front of me asked why the mail carrier stated they couldn't deliver to his house and where his package is. It's nice that this location has a few limited time parking meters (they take coins, credit card, or use pay by phone app) right outside. The customer service agents aren't super cheerful, but they are usually nice and have never been mean to me. There's an automated machine inside you can use to pay and print out certain postage/package postage if you want, but I find the counter people to be faster. If you have a pre-paid label/package then you can skip the line and just place the package on the counter where all the other dropped off packages are if you don't need a receipt. The flat rate/no weight limit priority boxes are helpful. I like that they have a rack of greeting cards for sale. I just wish they were fully stocked all the time with the different holidays/celebrations. I missed out on Christmas cards this year because I went too early in December, but their prices for Christmas cards were pretty reasonable in the past. They also sell most packaging materials you would need including boxes, envelopes, padded envelopes and tape. I don't even care whether the USPS as a whole is super profitiable or not. It should be regarded as a service for all of us. People get their medications and important documents through the mail. I avoid using Fedex or UPS because they often damage my packages on their way to the recipient. It's better that we have more competing services overall. I find the USPS website the easiest to use especially if you have a scale at home. I don't think mailpeople should have to deliver mail on Saturdays. Let them rest. Do delivery mailpeople have to pay for their own uniforms? Their uniforms look pretty ragged from what I've seen. Anyways, thank you to our local post office and mailpeople.
