First, shoutout to ERRELL (pronounced "Arrow" I believe). Super helpful, nice agent here. An important mail that I was sending to Taiwan somehow ended up in Bosnia, and on its return back to me, has been stuck in NY customs (since it's now considered an import item). It's been a nightmare. Several of the post offices I visited has been useless. This branch at least gave me more info. I'm having a pretty negative impression of USPS right now. But if you have to use this carrier, this location's probably the best one to go to. Their employees seem more competent and knowledgeable than the ones at the other offices. Nevertheless, I'll probably go with Fedex or DHL from now on. read more

Went to get passport renewed.Walking time 1-1:30pm and despite it being empty and the person serving one person, they told us due to staffing they couldn't handle the renewal. When I said the website said you offered this time for walking, the person's response was "does it say guarantees? No it doesn't" Too bad this review won't have any impact at all read more

This is the best US Post Office in San Francisco. Lemme tell you why... It's open until 9pm. You don't have to rush to the post office from work, just to get stuck in a line with everyone else. Especially during the holidays. There is ample parking. The lot is pretty big and I can always find parking up front. This is the main distribution SF post office, so you bring in your mail and it goes out right away. There are drive through mailboxes. Don't wanna get out of the car to drop off your mail? Don't, just drive through and drop them off. Passports! They don't just process the paperwork at the counter, there is a whole passport office located inside the post office that is often empty or has smaller lines. Also, you can buy cards, gift cards, packaging, stamps and even get cash back. So you can head over without a gift to send and obtain one. read more

Yo, this isnt food related but this postal office is one of the best ones in the city. top notch staff who are polite and knowledgeable. i had some silly questions for them and they never once made me feel like i was dumb for asking. The friendly staff exceeded my expectations. One of the postal offices that are actually open late. I can always rely on them to be there for me. Parking is an absolute breeze as it is plentiful. lots of open space parking lot and even the insides of the actual building is nicely spaced out. read more

Website for passport said I can renew passport by mail. I picked Evans post office because it opened at 7 am and it specifically does do passports. I got there at 7:45 am. Yes they have a passport room. I saw the sign that said you must have an appointment and to get an appointment, you have to ask the postal clerks. I went back outside, the Clerk said to go online usps to do an appointment. I tried to go on cell phone online and then I realized I just need renewal by mail. The Clerk gave me forms and priority envelope. He said he does not check anything that goes into the envelope. He did instruct me to staple my one picture exactly as indicated. I filled out the form, put in my check and the passport with form, and brought it back to the Clerk. Cost $9.95 for priority mail. He asked if I wanted the receiver to sign, and I said no. Cross my fingers. I did ir right. Note to self, I could have done this at any post office. I did download the form. It was just nice to have someone validate what to do. They are going to have passports done online soon. They are testing it with a few. But it sure is confusing. If you do it for the first time, do the appointment at usps. Only 3 post office have passport service: marina, Evans, and noe valley. Amazingly there were early birds like me using this site. read more

This is a review of one USPS worker who was working at the front desk between 6:45 - 7pm on Friday, 3/26 at the Main Post Office in SF: 1300 Evans Ave Ste 30, San Francisco, CA 94188. She started to cough and her mask was not on her face properly. I asked her politely to please pull up her mask and she yelled,  "These communists!"What? Maybe she has a case of COVID-19 psychosis. It was very strange and unsettling. Right after  I took this photo for her review, she again yelled, "COMMUNIST!" She was working inside the USPS, coughing and not wearing her mask properly. I'm 100% sure that's in violation of our SF Health order and the Federal Government mask order, putting her co-workers and customers at risk.  I hope the Postmaster will review the video tape and review this information with her before they fire her: https://sf.gov/information/masks-and-face-coverings-coronavirus-pandemic We should not be put at risk by Government employees and they should not yell insane things at their customers. Had a challenging passport issue and had to wait quite a while for some help but saw the two members of staff handling the various people waiting with me be very patient and helpful and get through things with them. Lots of people came and went all day but the staff did a great job and were eventually able to help me because I got there very early in the morning. I was the last one they helped. Very busy Monday and lots of rude people coming in but the staff did a good job and keep moving through folks. People with kids and forms were given space to do/re-do applications off to the side while the staff keep moving through as possible. Very thankful they could help me. Tough job and seeing people come in all over the map on pre-prep efforts has to be really frustrating, but they remained calm and collected even as people came in and were unhappy they couldn't get same-day help. read more

If you have important letter or package to send, this is a great place. Great parking, friendly helpful staff, great hours. The line, if there is one, moves quickly. Same day passport appointment update - you have to be here at 5:45 am and get a number. After 7 am they do not give any number for same day appointment. One star because they won't take you even if they are free if you don't have said number, a little bit of kindness specially with young children waiting does not take much. As recent reviews suggest, they are aggresive and they take great pleasure in letting you wait long and then say no. read more

5yo daughter's passport renewal. We had an appointment for Saturday morning at 10am. Arrived 10min prior to our appointment time as instructed, waited for about 15-20min for other family in front of us to finish their passport. Our process only took 10-15 minutes, so fast! We forgot to bring our check but they take debit card for money order. Easy to park, staff was helpful and efficient. Experience may vary if you don't have an appointment. Literally the worst post office I've been. We scheduled an appointment online and went on time but the staff said he called us twice (before the schedule time) and told us we weren't here. So instead he allowed the person behind us to go first. Notice that our schedule time wasn't up yet, bro had us dropped to the last place on the waitlist. I have to give kudos to the Passport Center this morning. Having read all the reviews here and on NextDoor, I was nervous that we would not be able to get off the waitlist to submit our passport application. I showed up at 6:10 a.m. and was the sole individual waiting. A passport employee showed up at 6:45 and immediately said she could help me without an appointment, and proceeded to help me and my family submit our applications. I can't share my enormous sense of relief. They were more than polite and kind in making this happen, and this experience was the opposite of many of the experiences I had read about so I am incredibly grateful. Thank you USPS! read more

Never thought that I would ever be giving a post office a five star rating but damn this location sure does deserve it! I stay near Fisherman's Wharf and drove all the way to Hunters Point because they had extended office hours vs all the other offices in San Francisco. I came in specifically to renew my passport. I was expecting to be stuck there for at least an hour or so but damn! I made it out in just 20 minutes. This was on a Wednesday afternoon, no lines or anything.. the place was a ghost town.. it was great! I grabbed my renewal form, filled it out, someone assisted me with placement of my photo and purchase of the money order for the new passport and BAM! I was out. So quick. Why can't all post offices operate like this? The locations back in Texas REQUIRE an appointment that is usually a week or so away. Bay Area is doing it right! read more

Super unfriendly. Don't come here if you expect any help for a passport. The city office sent me over for a passport hand carry (which I had an appointment for) but was sent back by the front desk worker since my travel was not within 14 days. Turns out that is not accurate, they are required to give your your appointment. They showed me some super old regulation that turned out to be incorrect. All they were was rude, unhelpful and wrong. A total waste of time. Fwiw, the person who does the actual passport is pretty helpful. It is the front desk workers who are wrong and unhelpful and rude to boot. read more

I don't know what this place would be like if I wasn't on top of it. GET HERE EARLY! Early if you come on Saturday, from what I hear the weekdays are better. They issue around 100 tickets a day. We showed up around 6:55. We were 16. They called us at 735. We were out by 745. The guy In the front of the line got here at 6:30. He was out at 7:20. Don't ask how long,  they don't know. I called the day before, 7 times. They finally picked up and gave me some information. They open at 7am, don't take appointments and if you don't get here early is going to take longer. The workers are nice On my way out I see this family with a 14 year old roll in at 7:45, it's going to take them hours, I feel bad but hey, you got to be on it. I came for my 9:45am appointment on a Friday; it was pretty empty, and I was in and out in ~20 minutes. I tell him I have an appointment and he asks me to sit down and wait. 9:50am - Another employee comes to the passport room, doesn't acknowledge me, and goes to the desk for those with passport appointments. 9:55am - I approach the second employee to tell her we have an appointment. She says she's getting ready and didn't ignore us. She calls us over just a minute later. 10:05am - We've submitted our paperwork, paid the $80 passport + $60 expedite fee by check, paid the $35 execution fee by credit card, officially sworn that all the information in our submitted paperwork is correct, and are out the door. TIPS: - Go past the normal line for stamps/packages, go to the room near the back (there is a huge poster outside the door with an image of a passport, but I completely missed it upon my first scan of hte room). - The passport room is mostly empty. - The front half of the room seems to be for walk-ins (so if you have an appointment, don't take a numbered ticket). Go to the back half of the room, which is for those with appointments. - I happened to mention my newborn doesn't have a Social Security Number yet, and I had to sign an extra form that verified this. I'm glad this happened - the employee I guess hadn't noticed in our application that she doesn't have a SSN. read more

bad review. these employees did not serve us even after i told them i was a little late becuase i got morning sickness due to my pregnancy ( which i explained to them!!) A supervisor name James called and started talking to me bossy about my mail forwarding request. This location's employees think they are the boss and he even told me "Don't Make Me Mad" threatening me. Of course i asked his last name and he hang up on me! This USPS location www a life saver for me. I needed to get my passport and whenI called the number to make appointments, they will have dates that were to far off. So, I luckily read a review in google about this location I didn't know existed. I was able to walked in , pick a number and complete my passport application. Within two weeks I had the passport deliver and I was so excited. If you are thinking of using this location , you might want to fill out everything so that you don't waste time with the agent. read more
