I would give zero stars if that were an option. I arrived at 5:10 PM with a prepaid, labeled package, but was told the location was already closed--even though it should have remained open for about 20 more minutes. Two other customers, also with ready-to-ship packages, asked if they could simply leave their items at the counter, but were refused without any explanation. What made this more frustrating was that there were still packages on the counter and a drop hamper right next to it. Despite staff still being present, they wouldn't allow us to leave our packages inside and instead told us to leave them outside. Never had a issue with this post office or employees. They are just like a lot of other post offices. It's nice that this location has a few limited time parking meters (they take coins, credit card, or use pay by phone app) right outside. Or if you want to park up the street there are free neighborhood spots, but it might be a trek downhill/uphill. Remember to check the street sweeping schedule to avoid a parking ticket. The customer service agents aren't super cheerful, but they are usually nice and have never been mean to me. There's an automated machine inside you can use to pay and print out certain postage/package postage if you want, but I find the counter people to be faster. If you have a pre-paid label/package then you can skip the line and just place the package on the counter where all the other dropped off packages are if you don't need a receipt. The flat rate/no weight limit priority boxes are helpful. I like that they have a rack of greeting cards for sale. I just wish they were fully stocked all the time with the different holidays/celebrations. I missed out on Christmas cards this year because I went too early in December, but their prices for Christmas cards were pretty reasonable in the past. They also sell most packaging materials you would need including boxes, envelopes, padded envelopes and tape. I don't even care whether the USPS as a whole is super profitiable or not. It should be regarded as a service for all of us. People get their medications and important documents through the mail. I avoid using Fedex or UPS because they often damage my packages on their way to the recipient. It's better that we have more competing services overall. I find the USPS website the easiest to use especially if you have a scale at home. I don't think mailpeople should have to deliver mail on Saturdays. Let them rest. Do delivery mailpeople have to pay for their own uniforms? Their uniforms look pretty ragged from what I've seen. Anyways, thank you to our local post office and mailpeople. read more

This is truly the slowest post office in the world. Picking up a package will take a minimum of 20 minutes. Always just one person working and no matter who it is, you can guarantee they will be the slowest moving human in existence. It actually seems like they take pride in slow, piss poor service. Maybe I got lucky but the wait in line (with 2 people ahead) and two service windows was only 5 minutes. One window was still occupied with same customer when I left. I just needed to pick up a package that was marked delivered yesterday, but the driver took it back and left a note instead. Anyway, glad the package was there. I originally wanted them to redeliver but with the holiday weekend coming up, I felt like I needed to try to get this myself. The supervisor (Juan) for this branch is super retaliatory and also doesn't pick up his phone and has no voicemail. It's easy to blame USPS and its staff for the outdated tracking technology and infrastructure problems. But truly, the staff is hard working, patient and deals with a demanding population. I would give zero stars, but the employees deserve some credit - sometimes. There is never more than one of them working behind the counter at a time, even though the line is always insanely long. Wait time is usually 45 minutes to 2 hours, regardless of the day or time of day. It's a complete mess, with trash on the floor, label/box kiosks in complete disorder, and stacks upon stacks of packages on the counter - which should actually be used for their intended function to service the customers who are at this godforsaken place because they have no choice, like having to pick up a package for which they received a "We Missed You!" notice even though they were home all day. On one Saturday, I tried to be clever and get there a few minutes before the stated opening time of 9:00. It was 9:18 before someone showed up (coffee in hand, muttering curse words) and unlocked the door to let themself in. It was another 5 minutes before they returned to let in customers. As I write this, the office has been closed for 4 days straight because the "System is down." What system? Get it together, people! read more

Boy am I surpised to read some of these 1 and 2 star reviews. This definately isn't the biggest, brightest, largest, post office in the are with a ton of services. But what do people expect for a small neighborhood post office. It has everything I need - free priority mail boxes, PO boxes, automated machine for sending packages and buying stamps, drop slots for stamped mail, etc. They have 4 mailboxes outside for after hours drop off. And often they keep a roll of packing tape on the counter for cusotmers to use to finish taping up thier boxes or packages - at leat it is there until someone steals it. Now what other post office have you been in that does that. And the last time I asked the guy at the UPS store if I could borrow some tape to tape down the flap of a box, he told me where it was on the shelf for me to purchase it. The mail is picked up and delivered efficiently. If I drop a letter in the box Sunday night it is usually in New York by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest. Now I know the whole system has to work for that to happen, but it all starts here where I drop it off. That tells be that they are working efficiently behind the scenes. As far as the lines - every post office has lines. Over the past 2 years I have been in P.O's in Dublin, San Ramon, San Jose, Fremont, San Francisco, and several other cities in the Bay Area. I have waited in line at every single one of them, even if I show up right when they open. So why would someone rate this place only 1 star because they waited in line. And yes, a couple of the employees aren't the friendliest - but I don't go there for idle chit chat. I go to get things done and they do just that. So they are 4 stars in my book. Our post office in Poyen, Arkansas is a joke. The letter carrier once put a package that I had ordered with cheese in it in my car. Did not notify me, I thought the package was lost because they lose stuff all of the time. By the time I found it, it cost over $200 to get the stink out of my car. SO I yelled at her. She refuses to deliver packages and spreads gossip and lies about my family. She said she was attacked by one of my dogs, fell down, and then my husband did not help her. I have it on ring camera. Ken and Dooley were playing frisbee, and she honked and said she had a package and he said, "well, bring it over." and she just tossed it out the window at him. She admitted that she lied about being attacked by my dog after we showed the video to the inspector, showing my dog interested in nothing but his frisbee. These continuing allegations are upsetting because I use my dogs for therapy and my husband is a paramedic. We do not need this negative feedback circulating. I keep submitting complaints, every time she does not deliver a package and they keep ignoring them. She has this MO where she marks the package as out for delivery, then as soon as the post office closes, she marks it as "undeliverable, due to an animal situation." We have a lot of video, sometimes the only animal in sight is her. Well, once in a while a squirrel. Then her supervisor said that the neighbor's dog was the danger. We have a video of her playing with the dog, feeding it treats. Little Babe is 15 years old, relatively small and really sweet. I have a video of her last week stepping over the dog to put a package on the neighbor's porch. So she will deliver to a neighbor's porch, not mine. Because I yelled at her for doing something really stupid last year. I am not going to rest until I get porch delivery like the rest of my neighbors and UPS and FedEx does. I suggest if you have postal issues, write your congressman, light up their Postal OIG page until they finally address the issue. I had an award winning photo sent to me by my granddaughter, she won a state first place for nature photography, the letter carrier folded it in half, jammed it in the mailbox and demolished it. My husband ordered some food to share with the other firefighters and first responders for Christmas and he asked her to keep an eye out for it. She said, "you are not getting that package because you sicked your dog on me" and she was right, he did not get that package, it was lost and by the time he received it, it was smashed to smithereens. She has a criminal record on the public records site here, how she is trusted with our mail is beyond me. Her boss, the postmaster had a few traffic FTA warrants. Unbelievable. I mean we all know UPS actually stands for Universal Parcel Smashers. I had FedEx deliver a box to me in literal tatters. If i hadn't taped the sides it would of split it's guts like a background zombie. And the number one reason i like USPS over any private delivery service..... STEALING or TAMPERING WITH US MAIL is a FEDERAL OFFENSE! Yea that's federal prison time for those feckless porch pirates. But if they steal the same package or tamper with the FedEx or UPS its at best petty theft which does not give me the satisfaction that someone will spend time breaking rocks. I mean forget that nearly every time the USPS is cheaper than FedEx or UPS. Forget that there is no up charge for Saturday delivery and that more than likely there won't be some lame excuse about how the wind blew too hard so your mom's birthday gift is now going to show up 3 days after the Friday party! Please FIX the automated USPS postal machine! Fixing it/having at least 2-3 Machines would HELP everyone. Helps both the USPS worker and the tax paying citizens/community; so fewer people have to stand in line (next to other/Covid19 safety concerns)....The machines help improved mailing, stamps, all services become faster in and out of the USPS offices. Please also have more lighting outside of USPS. More cameras to catch graffiti, catch criminals in the area, bad driving/parking issues. Less junk mail, unwanted mail in people's mailboxes would also be a good start to improving, green/recycle efforts. Thank you. Please fix the automated machines. I'm giving three-star because even if you drop off packages they don't scan into the system. Most time if dropping off multiple packages, one will get updated and the other will still show label created not yet in system. Better option is wait in line and get a receipt confirmation, so prepare to wait a extra few minutes if there's a line. read more

The post office itself is fine, there's usually not more than 5-10 minute wait and the workers are always friendly & helpful. But the carrier(s?) on my route, frequently leave the mailboxes to my apartment building open. Several times a year, I have to wait on hold for 20-40 minutes to talk to someone on their 800# and have them send the carrier back to close them. I get accidents happen, but your one job is opening, filling and closing the apartment boxes. It's a pretty big oversight to leave them pulled open, so all the mail is exposed and not even notice as you leave. Over and over. read more

I'm wrong, go here...only to get told by main station that he was wrong. He wouldn't even look in his computer or in the back. I changed our address beginning of June and it's now late July, got confirmation of change but haven't gotten any mail. Our rsvp's, wedding cards!, our bills etc all just lost or sitting somewhere and no one at USPS will help. Just get redirected, new phone numbers, same story, it should be coming, it should be being forwarded...but it's NOT! Ridiculous not getting mail for over a month! The service hear is maddeningly slow. Honestly, if the line gets to be less than 10 people deep, someone will go on break. It's like a graveyard behind the counter. If someone wants to pick up a package, forget it... They go back there, and never re-appear. Some things not to forget when you go to the post office: 1. a knitting project (you will have time to finish it) 2. An encycopedia (you will have time to read it) 3. Your children (so you don't miss their teenage years). 4. Paint (so you can watch it dry) 5. At least two or three valium (so you can gain control of your increasing frustration as you wait and wait and wait). Although, admittedly, sometimes there is not enough valium in the world to get me out of here with normal blood pressure. I rarely write bad reviews, but this place is the absolute pits. This Post Office needs to clean up the outside of the building -- SO MUCH Graffiti. The gang writing is all over the building walls and the postal trucks. Just Paint it over with white/gray paint. Here's what they need to work on: CUSTOMER SERVICE! There are a few ladies that work here that are just straight up rude, demanding, and unpleasant. One guy (in his late 20's to early 30's in the only nice one I have dealt with. Next, how many times does one need to say, "Regular (standard) mail, no insurance on this package." There was obviously a language barrier, but she still asked me 3 times if I wanted to priority send it and if I wanted to get some insurance on the package. I figured 8 days prior to Easter would be plenty of time. It's been around 10 days now, and still no package to Hawaii. I sent just a little treat to my boyfriend's nieces for Easter but apparently a week and a half is not long enough. USPS is a joke and seriously while "eating" $250.7 million of US budget (2.8 percent increase from the 2015) they fail over and over with the simple task of actually delivering your mail. This sector should have been privatized long time ago. Today I got a notification that my shipment was delivered in my mailbox. Meaning postman actually scanned the barcode on the package. I went to my mailbox - nothing! I've mailed many a large envelope from this post office's APC machine. The things are actually really useful and efficient if you've used them a bunch of times. But if you need a money order, to pick up a package, or something else, you'll have to wait in the line, and it's a killer. I've never gotten through it quickly, and although I've had decent service here, I've seen the employees treat other people extremely poorly. read more

I had the misfortune of having this as my local post office. This is, hands down, the worst post office I've ever been to. All the workers I've encountered, except for two (one who is actually pretty nice and one who was just ok) are argumentative, incompetent, lazy, and/or all of the above. This includes the managers. The other review stating that they have an "evil eye" is absolutely correct & It's like they try to provoke you for no reason. Also, the line is INSANELY long. Like, I've waited over 45 min to pick up a package before. That was a common occurence, not a one-time thing. Since there's so many people in line then open up a new window...seriously. Or stop being so lazy. Don't go here unless you absolutely have to. The post office on 20th & Geary or the Postal Service Unit on 10th & Clement are much better. For whatever reason, this is my home post office. I think in reality the Geary/21st Ave should be my home post office but I digress... Though some individuals here are kind, there are a lot of things that bug me about this office. 1) They don't look that hard for your packages when you go to pick them up. I've had one worker tell me on more than one occasion to call the Postmaster at the main Geary/Fillmore office to "locate my package", who once I finally get her on the line tells me my package is at the Geary/Parker office after all. What a waste of my time... 2) Lately, as in the past 2-3 months, they have had this REALLY annoying habit of not leaving my package slip the first time they stop by and we aren't home. They leave it the next day. When I should be picking up the package. I then have to go online, write down my long tracking number, and bring it to them! I'm doing your job for you! And like clockwork, the package slip will be dropped in my mailbox the second day. You could have redelivered it at that point!!! UGH. 3) They regularly only have 2-3 staffers working when there is a line of 20 people out the door. And they go sloooooow. Like they don't care about their jobs. "Just here to collect my paycheck, idc how long I take!" is the mentality here (for some employees). Like I stated previously, some of the workers are nice and efficient. Let me start with something nice... after a year of visiting here, I found a couple of the clerks to be friendly sometimes, and finding street parking is not so bad. But this post office is one of the main reasons I'm so glad to be out of the Inner Richmond! As an Ebay business owner, I had to make frequent trips to the P.O. The Geary station being the closest, I suffered here for a year. The employees and the supervisor did not know how to use a SCAN form by USPS, which is vital to my business and all businesses going through the PO system. I had to scold the supervisor and explain to her what it was before someone finally trained the employees. They remembered me ever since... The Manager there is an unsmiling Asian Lady, whom my boyfriend nicknamed the "Ice Queen". Frightening, demading, and unfriendly. Lines are long, some of the employees are scatter-minded, and if there is ever an issue with mailing, you can forget about trying to solve it. And I've surely encountered issues. The most horrible post office I've been to by far. After moving to Nob Hill, I read the terrifying reviews of the Pine Street Station. But people, if you go to this Geary station, you will see that the Pine station is a haven in comparison. Cleaner and more efficient. Try to avoid this station, which is on Geary @ Parker. read more
