I know. I know....postal workers aren't the 'most kind', but this location is different. And location is really everything. I usually come here, because customer service always rocks. My review is based on many visits...not just one. And so far, I have no complaints about this branch not having 'pens' lying around or the fact that there aren't "enough signage" for customers- what does it all mean??? On my most recent visit, I brought with me, my own thick Sharpie and Packing Tape- ready to tackle and send my daughter a medium-size box to the West Coast. I actually ended up needing a pair of scissors, asked one of the postal workers for one and she handed them to me with the handle first- not the scissor point. Thank you! Unimportant to some folks, but I take notice of small things like that and to me- that only translates as professional and courteous. So thank you again! Folks complaining here- either have major issues or don't have pleasant people skills themselves. Listen...a post office can provide you with the basics, if you can't find a pen, nicely ask for one. Great branch when its open. After hours, a totally different story. If you want to mail anything at night you have to deal with the kiosk...and it's constantly on the fritz. One day it takes debit but not credit cards, the next day it cant read any cards, then, it cant dispense postage. Today...broken. Nothing against the staff here, they're actually pretty good. But it's easy to see why the USPS as a business is constantly losing money. read more

I had been battling an issue with my address for several years where the address that is listed on my deed did not coincide with the address in your system. I had gone back and forth between the Town and the Post Office for many years trying to get this issue fixed. On Tuesday September 5, 2023, I went to the Hartsdale Post Office and was greeted cheerfully by the new Postmaster Denise. I explained my issue to her and gave her some documents to substantiate my claim. She told me she would look into it and asked if I could provide her a copy of my deed. The next day I returned with the deed, she updated me with the information she was able to gather so far and rather then send ME back to the Town Hall as all the other managers had done in the pass she went there and met with the Town assessor. On Friday September 8, Denise called and informed me my issue had finally been fixed and added properly in the Postal Service database. I cried tears of joy and couldn't thank her enough. I asked her for the contact information of the highest person in the post office so I could personally give her the praise she deserves but she told me I should use this web address to document my satisfaction. Although I'd much rather had the opportunity to speak with her superior and share my experience. I hope this is shared with she and her superiors and she is recognized for her outstanding customer care. I have to say you can definitely tell this office is under new management. Even the old employees greet you with courtesy and respect. They are helpful with good attitudes. Denise is good for this office. I hope she stays. read more

This post office deserves no stars at all. I had the worst customer service experience over asking a mask related question. This female employee with glasses and long box braids was the rudest most unprofessional person I've ever met in my life. She tried to fight me--yes you read that right, she tried to FIGHT me because I asked to speak to a manager. She left her desk after being on her cell phone the whole time and ignoring my questions and came to the customer side to yell and curse at me. Had I not had my phone out recording, I truly think she would have hit me. The manager did nothing but apologize and ask her to stop cursing and yelling at me. Customer service is not the easiest job and I can understand how things can be frustrating but this is completely unacceptable. read more

I went into today as I moved into the area in the summer I had asked the woman behind the counter as I lugged a huge box of gifts for my nieces in nephew to kindly give me a blank label to put on the box she huffed come back when your ready I said excuse me ? I said the pen will go right through the box she huffed then I gave her a large envelope which was a huge Valentine's Day Card for my older niece which is her a actual birthday she huffed again she said it needs to be closed I answered I licked it it won't close she huffed go buy tape I'm like no way am I buying tape she stated it's a package I answered it's a card ! Her colleague chimed in that I'm always rude when I come in I said you have got to be kidding me ?! I responded that they both sit there do they bare minimum huffing and puffing collecting a pension and full benefits I also said that a large envelope I mailed to my house in Greece got sent back to me bc she messed up the address and she respond who me ? You did I answered I live there for half the year I know what the address is!! She also went on to say that my box and clear tape covered the scan barcode and " where I got the box from " I said I ordered it from usps.com I m like send my package give my my envelope and get lost ! First time using USPS directly. The staff was atrocious. I do not have access to a printer and asked where I could print my label. They claimed to not have a printer and snarked when I asked where I could print it. Then, I asked how I could potentially use a dropbox for USPS, and the two women in the front snarked once again and said "i don't know". I have used UPS countless times, and interactions with their staff is wonderful. I will be sure to never use USPS again. I was at this location this morning to renew my American passport. The guy at the service desk proceeded to inform me as my passport was expired I would need to go to the kiosk and electronically make an appointment to remedy this situation. I didn't know what he was talking about but luckily another worker overheard him and promptly corrected him. I was able to go ahead and apply for an updated passport. This guy eventually said he was NOT a passport officer but the other person was. He said the post office have you take a course for this. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Was in yesterday to use the kiosk in the front foyer. Once I paid via computer to send a Priority mail item, I had a question about envelope usage ( none were available). There was a young African American woman working the foyer window (as were all inside windows staffed), who refused to stop talking to her friend while I waited for answers. Once I quite nicely waited for them to stop talking about personal lives- she saw me and huffed loudly: "What?!" She asked. I apologized for interrupting and asked about the envelopes. "Just take whatever's there!!" She shouted. Returning to gossiping with her friend, she was beyond annoyed that a customer had a question. Once again I had another query and this interruption set her off. "WHAT NOW?!" She yelled. I looked for a name tag but there wasn't one on her shirt. I called this post office to find out if they could handle the dimensions of a package I was planning to ship. The woman who took my call said to me : I don't know. I haven't worked a window in 10 years! With that she put me on hold and I waited patiently for an answer until I concluded that she either forgot I was on the line or was still trying to scramble for the answer. Can u believe that a postal worker who works for me since he/she is a government employee, gives me an answer" I don't know..." This is why the post office is in a deficit The competition, UPS, got my business. So UPS made $101.00 in shipping charges and the US postal service did not. One person behind the counter when they have 7 registers, many people asked the person if someone else was coming out to help and her reply was I don't know.... my turn to be rung up and she walks away and does not com back... another person comes from the back and goes to a completely different register and starts with the person after me... I ask her if the girl is coming back her answer was I don't know.... I used to frequent that post office and everyone was cheerful and happy to be working. What a shame to see such unhappy people behind the counter. I hope this will be read by the postmaster and they implement some changes. The Scarsdale Annex at this location is THE WORST!!! Forget about getting any help to resolve an issue. And need to go in person because THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE THERE!!!!! Just keeps getting worse. My mail constantly gets put in other mailboxes in my building. Today my package shows out for delivery. So my mail carrier stated he didn't have it. When I called and finally got through, they tell me maybe another courier on a different route took it. So when I asked, aren't the couriers supposed to set up their routes before they leave in the morning. And this for two reasons. One being they would have an idea how they would run the route for the day. And the other reason being they would identify any packages that belong to another route and they wouldn't take it on the road with them. And their response was...... Sir, that would take common sense. Of all the delivery's I get from all different courier service. Fedex, UPS etc. The post office by far. And I mean by far is the absolute worst!!!! read more

this post office branch on central ave in scarsdale is one of my fave cause it's not that crowded and the clerks dont give the screw you face most of the time. plenty of free outdoor parking which is the norm with most stores along the central ave strip in westchester . inside it's clean and organized with a supply counter area and with about 4 window clerk stations i assume the wait on line is manageable or you can use the self service machine for domestic mailing , buying stamps. etc. the postal clerks are ok with the standard hello and goodbye with a thank you to finish. i am well aware that westchester county snobs and postal workers can be a bad mix at times so i recommend using with a debit or credit card the self service kiosk and let's keep the peace in the valley flowing . read more

I'm not one to submit ratings, but I had a terrible experience with this branch. Over a week ago,, I brought in a package with a USPS label (complete with tracking number) attached. The person at the branch said they were closing, but she would take care of it. I trusted that this package would be scanned and mailed, but apparently it was not. I called a couple of days later, and a customer service rep said to call back if the tracking number did not show up in a couple of days, and they would submit a a claim. After a few days, I called back and (after putting me on hold for a long time) a different customer service person said that the tracking number did not show up, they had sent everything out, and I would have to submit a claim online. I did submit a claim online, but I find it odd that a post office rep would say they will take care of sending out a package and the package just disappears. I would avoid leaving any packages here if you do not see them physically scan it. read more
