Three issues. First, the website phone number, 301-598-5033 is out dated, no help here. Second, the valid phone number, 301-871-4444 sends your call to an operator, and the phone rings and rings with no answer. Third, a UPS package was transferred to the post office and claimed delivery when it hasn't been delivered. This is my post office and I was expecting a check and two debit cards to be delivered within a couple of weeks of each other and none of them arrived. I was being given updates from one of the banks telling me exactly the date that my debit card should have arrived. I get scanned images of my mail that is being delivered thorough the postal service and saw the large refund check a business was sending me and it never arrived. I have had to ask for these items to be replaced. I have tried to contact the post office but I get a busy signal. I guess this is part of the plot to run the Post Office into the ground so that we all think government is ineffective and we want it to be blown apart. read more

No issues with the cashier/tellers but the lack of social distancing and cleanliness was flabbergasting. The area near the P.O. Box had old mail, crumpled up scraps of paper, and forms that people had partially filled out and didn't discard. The tellers station are incredibly close to each other so much so that when I was called to come up, I stayed in line thinking that it must have been a mistake. I eventually moved up (after the initial customer left) but before I knew it, there was another customer being served incredibly close to me (wayyyy less than 6 feet- think standing next to someone in a narrow hallway.) I wouldn't make such a big deal but for - you know coronavirus but also the fact that this post office is close to leisure world which is a retirement community. If some place needs to be extra cautious, it's this place. For customers and even employees sake, I hope the social distancing is addressed. read more

Zero wasn't an option. Had a passport appointment said to last 30 mins and because the paperwork was not in black ink they dismissed us stating they were "too busy" to make a copy. Literally 29 mins left in my appointment. She could have taken our picture while we filled out another application. The reason we make appointments is to be helped. I didn't get her name but she was so rude. She should not work for the public. This is the most awful post office and should have stayed closed. I'm sure USPS can find others who would be happy to work instead of those at this office with terrible customer service. read more

This is the worst post office I've ever been in !!! This is a contact tracers nightmare for spreading the corona virus , they do not follow CDC cleaning guidelines . The place and the parking lot is like a slum . They never take out the trash it's always spilling on the floor and there fir days . SEE PICTURES , they never refill the supplies in the lobby , nor fix their self serve kiosk , what a fricken nightmare during a pandemic to force people to use the counter and deal with unhappy clerks who could care a less they have a job . . I've actually written the Silver spring postmaster to complain since it's impossible to reach him/her , have I ever heard back , of course not!!! . That's it I'm reporting them to the health dept .... then maybe they will listen to all the complaints. They also closed 7 minutes before they were supposed to around tax day while several people in the Lobby reminded them that's illegal and showed them their phones to prove to them it was closing time . I actually went to 2 other post offices tonight looking for kiosk before I game to this unhealthy blocks only to find out that after a full month and an email to the postmaster their kiosk is still not working ... geez how many phone calls do you need to remind you to get it done !!!! read more

Had my mail on hold for pick up. When I went in to pick it up they said that it was already delivered and to check back if it hasn't. This is my third time coming back to this USPS to track down my mail. Now they tell me that I have to come back again to speak to the supervisor Daniel. Everytime I come it's over crowded with not enough staff to handle the demand. The line is doubled and most of the customers are foreigners with very bad english. It takes the staff extra long to try to explain how to write an address on an envelope or how to send mail. The staff needs to be bilegual to better serve a diverse customer base. ...now I've bee waiting 4 weeks for my mailbox key....that another ordeal. Smh read more

I understand it's a government job but little sense of urgency when you noticed there's about 15 people waiting in line just a thought. The ladies and gentlemen behind the counter just takes their time like they were walking on air as if you don't care. What I will say there was one employee back there moving the line as fast as possible so she gets a five-star I can't remember her name but it's an African woman thank you for caring a bit and acknowledging that you are a public servant with high regards. Took over 20 minutes just to mail a package that seem a bit long to me but is just my opinion. read more

I was away for a few weeks and requested that my mail be held until my return. when I picked up my mail at this post office there were several items missing , including magazines and bills that required payment. I had to call the magazine subscription department and the merchants to whom payment was due to explain that nothing was received from the post office. Others have told me that their mail have been delivered to the wrong address from this post office. They can not even hold mail to be picked up correctly. read more

The USPS is bankrupt for a reason- they are run by the government. I recently tried to call 1-800-ask-usps. The automated line would not let me speak with customer service until after I answered five minutes of questions. Once I was connected, an automated voice told me the wait time to talk to customer service was 1 hour and 4 mins- WOW thats some customer service. Way to go USPS read more

The customer service at this post office is a nightmare. The woman who handles the PO Boxes told me that she could no longer accept in-person payment, and that I would have to create an account online and pay that way. I drove home, accessed the USPS website, and created an account. The site would not allow me to pay that way either. I tried calling USPS customer service and no one picked up the phone. I had to drive back to the Aspen Hill Post Office, plant myself in the lobby, and create a scene to get service. Once her manager appeared, the "customer service" agent suddenly found a way to accept in-person payment. This process took up two hours of my afternoon. --It's terrible to treat other human beings this way. Please have some decency. read more

Paid priority express for next day (Tues) but arrived Thursday. When I called customer service it wouldnt let me speak with an agent because my package was already delivered. Had to go into the post office to get my money back guarentee. Service is polite but so slow. Really really slow. Got the notice that makes me cringe, Had to pick up some mail. Went to the post office, Tuesday afternoon 2pm, 16 people in line, and only one person behind the counter (surprise!). Not only was she alone but very slow and very rude to the customers. Not as rude as the lady who actually told me to F**K Off for showing up at 4:55 to mail something, but close. Well folks the old post office on Connecticut Ave near the old Kmart is no longer it's a passport place now. So what to do with all your packages if you live in that particular area? Well you can read the sign on the door and it'll tell you where to go. That's right it's just down the street in the congested Aspen Hill Shopping Center way way down the other end next to "Five Guys" and "Panera Bread". There was a long line when I had arrived but it moved along with good efficient stride. They had more than enough workers there to move the people along in a reasonable fashion. Only one going "postal" there was some knuckle head who only wanted 1 stamp so therefor instead of going to the stamp vending machine he had to just make his own "B" line up at the counter interfering with the flow. So instead of arguing too much with the chump the worker sold him a single stamp. Other than that very professional and efficent for me. Nice addition to this part of Aspen Hill. read more

There is a separate line for mailing packages and picking up. The pick up line took 45 minutes. The staff is extremely slow and inattentive.

Well, they lost my Christmas package. To add insult to injury, the office supervisor seemed completely indifferent to my plight. (It was kind of like "I'm too busy to be bothered by your problem.") This post office would gone been out of business many years ago if it were in the private sector. Customer service is NOT their speciality. read more
