I went in today July 7,2022 10:29am per the receipt. If I could do 9 stars I would. I was in the area and needed to drop off packages. The parking is only for about 8 cars. The worker that "helped" was wearing a red curly wig. Rude. No good morning. No nothing. She didn't even say the " does this have fragile etc " line that they are suppose to ask and if. It they get in trouble. Nothing not a word was said. Rude. My boxes clearly said they were fragile and she in front of me dropped them on the scale. Very annoying. The other worker was a male. Stank face. Then came outside to his car (I was parked next to it. I didn't even know it was his. No it wasn't hit. Nothing but when I came out the building I did sit in my car handling emails for a few mins. I don't know if he thought I had done something to his old car or what) . Never ever again. Every time I visit this place I always get the snarkiest workers-always unprofessional! Or are they all like that in this location?! I dropped off a package here and somehow got lost! I also came to claim a package since that's what the tracking said, but the worker said it's nowhere to be found and to file a claim. She also screamed at me. This post office is in the best location! There is no obvious sign outside the establishment, so if you drive 25 mph on the busy curved road leading to the building you will definitely miss it. Also if you feel like doing nothing that day and are feeling a little masochistic, feel free to drop in and say "Hi" to the postal workers here who will likely ask you condescending questions and bark at how you packaged your item. So not only is this in an obvious location, the workers are an absolute joy to see first thing in the morning when you just want to run some errands. Sometimes you can't always rely on the reviews of others because you never know how they might have been feeling at the time of their experience. Of course that is to say, there are many out there that are biased and well, 'other' if you are catching my drift. However, if I didn't have the need to go into the building myself for a my own brand of, well business, I probably would not have witnessed that yeah, this place is down right distasteful and deplorable. Let us begin with the entrance. It is your typical building from the outside, obviously nothing has changed in it's structure since quite possibly the 70s. So even the smells from that time have permeated, impregnated, and made an entire civilization within the structure. The smell alone just walking in was foul enough to make me want to lose my lunch and flee -never to return- however, I had not had business, I would've. I don't know how the employees stand to work in there but, let's give them a round of applause for having the courage to work in a building where the stench matches their attitude as well as Grover goes with his trash can. If the smell isn't enough, the inside of the building will transport you to a time that clearly, has not aged well. At all. Everything in that building is way past outdated. It is already 2022; the Post Office has been around for how long? You can 'update' some of your equipment but not the entirety of a building? I know hipsters love vintage but even they have limits. Everything inside looks as though it has seen better days. (I hope that this will be the first and last time I ever visit this location. Thank Hecate I am moving!) As with the outdated decor that is more yellowed and dilapidated than a homeless crackhead's teeth, I will have to say that the staff themselves were not any better. To begin with, you have a young lady standing behind the counter and you can't tell if she is on the clock, on break, going home...just what are you doing? And let us not forget the lack of a mask! While her other coworkers are clearly sporting a facial cover, this young lady, appears to think themselves too good for a mask. (As it turned out, she was leaving to go home. But standing around behind the desk just makes you appear lazy and unmotivated. Don't do that especially when there is a line of people waiting to be serviced.) Now let me bring your attention to the STAR (and I mean that with the heaviest form of sarcasm as text will allow): The STAR of the show! He has got to be the most unenthused, unmotivated, unhappy employee I have come to witness in my short adult life. Just seeing the lack of emotion, save for displeasure, on his face was enough to make even my internal happy vial evaporate; to make my sweet strawberry milk imported from Japan go sour; to leave my favorite Orchid to wilt. He...was not a happy man. There was zero life in his voice. It was all one tone, unless he was using his voice snap at someone or tell them that they were putting something in the wrong place. He clearly is miserable working there. I have worked in the CS industry for not very long, 10 years give or take and in that short decade I have come to find what makes customers tick and what makes them lose patience. Yes, we who work in this industry take on a lot, it can feel like a burden but not every customer comes into a business having had a bad day. In many the situation, it is the worker that sends their aura to darken and mood to spoil. If you find that you do not enjoy your job, then find one that you will enjoy. Benefits or not, your piss poor attitude is not an excuse. When you're irritated, customers will be irritated. It's plain and simple. No one should have to walk into a building and have their mood change on the drop of a dime. No one. It's not fair to the guest. You took it upon yourself to take on a job. You can leave it at any time. Guests don't have a choice when it comes to where they pick up their mail. They just don't! And not many of them read reviews when they're looking to get a service done because they are focused on completing a task. If you hate where you work: Q-U-I-T... QUIT! It's that's simple. Find yourself a new place of employment and leave this one because you're obviously miserable. I know for a fact USPS isn't going to be doing anything in terms of improving their customer service or even reprimanding this employee because it's obvious that he has been at it for some time and nothing has changed; just as that store hasn't changed in over 50 years. C'est la vie. This is the country and world we live in. They don't like to improve nor change. It's disgusting really...not sad...just... Disgusting. Some advice: Do what you need to do at this location. Ignore the lack of proper service, stop at the liquor store buy yourself a bottle and enjoy it at home. Nothing will change here. Believe me. On May, 23rd, After my neighbor and I requested a mail carrier close the gate when exiting our premises, the mail carrier threatened to stop mail delivery to our residences. After online complaints and phone calls with the Anacostia Carrier Annex Supervisory Staff, mail remains undelivered. It's a post office. You are going to get exactly what you expect; a place to pick up or drop off a package, the ability to buy shipping supplies and stamps. And .. Long lines, unnecessarily rude employees, understaffed counters and an environment that makes even the dankest of abandon homes seem cheery. I've never met a more unhappy and disgruntled group of people at any USPS location including 8 different states. Line of people inside the first door to the post office but not the second door--due to social distancing. The second it hit 5:00pm postal worker told the other people to come back tomorrow. If I say I HATE this post office it's an understatement. I've had to pick up 4 packages here and each time I've gone I've had to call the annex to check on my package because they say it's not here and low and behold it always ends up here they just can never find it. After calling the annex they always magically find it here after 40 mins to an hour of inconvenience. I've had to get a box at a UPS store for $500 a year just to guarantee that I get my packages. Two times while I was attempting to pick up my package customers came in and they couldn't find their packages either. And it always takes around 40 mins to even figure out what's going on wether it's busy in there at all. I'm not a fan of the post office in general but I guarantee you this is actually one of the worst ones I've ever been to. I'm still waiting.... Oh guess what the package is here as usual. Got to the location and was told they no longer did passports there. Definitely the worst. I am a senior citizen and received a notice of attempted delivery. Went to my post office and "employee" said i had to call another office. No results. Called the main 800 number and finally got a helpful employee. He said there were 2 attempted notices (never received the 2nd one) and system shows it was returned to sender. The original employee at the post office could have easily checked the computer system , but for whatever reason chose not to. read more

Wish it was possible to give zero stars. There is always a huge line here and although there are multiple registers or cashier stations there's only ever 1 person working behind the counter. The lady behind the counter is very nice, I can't imagine how she deals with the endless line of customers all by herself without getting frazzled. I didn't have a terrible experience here, but man, some of the other folks who were in line with me were having a bad time. It's a very small post office. The parking lot is tiny. There were two women working at the counter. The line was at a complete standstill while they both worked together to attempt to correct an issue with a money order, or cancel it and refund the money. The manager was requested and both of them vanished to the back. A few people actually left because the line wasn't moving. One gentleman was trying to apply for a passport and said he had been waiting for over an hour and still wasn't done with the process. It took me about 25 minutes of waiting to mail a flat-rate envelope. None of the pricing signs were hanging up so I wasn't able to see the price of my envelope before I paid. I'd been debating paying by weight because I thought it might be less expensive, but after waiting so long, I just wanted to get out. I really like supporting the USPS, but I think I'll stick to other locations that are a little more put-together and seem to have staff that are more well trained. read more

Always get your pre-paid packages scanned and get a receipt for it, don't drop it off. I made the mistake of dropping a pre-paid package off ( I had dropped several w/o incident) and it was never scanned, nor did it ever arrive at it's destination. I spoke to a "Manager" who promptly fed me a line that he tells every customer w/o actually checking to see if my package was somewhere in the back, he said that all packages leave the facility nightly and that nothing stays behind. I HATE this damn post office . Scheduled my passport appointment online and got a confirmation online through email. All set and ready to go and cleared my schedule for this for next day. I arrive early as stated on their website and they tell me they cancelled my appt cause my mail box was full when they called. I was like WTF !!!! Since I didn't pick up they cancelled it although it was already confirmed online. These f@#king jackasses. You wonder why Usps is going down and in so much debt becauze of shit like this they do. I received a notice to pick up a letter here. After work I went there to pick it up but had not brought the slip. It was late and they were closing soon (5:00 closing time ) so I hurried over. They actually ridiculed me for not having the slip. They had about 10 envelopes in the box and it would not have taken very long to find my letter but since there was no slip they refused. I had my drivers license but they wanted the slip. The rudest post office in America. Hopefully the whole system will go out of business soon. read more

On location only - this is the most horrible placed post office ever! It is completely hidden smushed between a safeway and a very busy main intersection with no signs indicating its there. Very easy to miss. I literally spent 30min no joke driving in circles trying to follow my gps's navigation to get into the entrance from University Blvd. GPS tells you to turn into Safeway parking lot..from there...you cannot even see the post office which is hidden right next to it. There is a tiny entrance and horrible no parking. At least put a big post office sign out front. Its in a very annoying intersection and there is no where to turn around so you literally have to drive down Colesville, into a neighborhood and around to look for it. Post offices usually get a bad rep in general. I actually used to really like this post office. It's conveniently located, and I used to think the people that work there are fairly nice. I walked in today and I was greeted by a post office worker; it was nice. I usually use the flat-rate boxes. But the same worker who greeted me upon arrival said I ought to send my package via priority mail that's charged by weight (as opposed to the flat-rate box). She insisted I get in line and have someone at the counter provide an estimate to me. Turned out I would save a dollar and some odd change if I go with post office worker's suggestion. I get my stuff organized, get in line, and guess what? Turned out when my items were weighed prior hand, the post office worker forgot to take into account the weight of the box so really I would pay a few dollars more than the flat-rate box. I want to be efficient with my money, I mean - who wouldn't want to use their money most efficiently? Maybe Paris Hilton, I suppose. But I'm no Paris Hilton. Anyways, so I had get my stuff into a flat-rate box and get back in line. I get up to the counter, and the post office worker who initially gave me the lower estimate apologized. I was annoyed by the fact that I had to waste an extra 15 minutes that could have been spent better elsewhere. Out of no where, some old lady decides to preach me. She starts babbling that time is money is not what I should be thinking because apparently when I grow older it'll affect my heart. Seriously who wants complete strangers to lecture them at the post office? Of all places! Service was most awful. Old lady who decided to preach her personal opinion was most awful. And I was both annoyed and irritated by the time I left from there. What a hot mess. Really USPS, get your act together already! I foolishly went here again today. The parking is absolutely ATROCIOUS. The patch of grass in front of the building was covered in trash. They had all of one person working behind the counter. Rather than put a second USPS employee behind the counter to help with the growing line, for some reason they gave the other guy an orange vest, and knighted him as 'the expediter'. Not sure what he was expediting except for the growing line. I hate this post office with all my heart. And today post office, I officially break up with you, here before every yelp user. I truly want to like this PO at 20901 because it's been my home PO x 30 years. I agree with many of the previous comments. My comments are about the actual mail delivery. All of our good mail carriers were reassigned either to the other side of Lanark Way or to the NW corner of Four Corners. For the past 3-4 years, we have not had a dedicated mail carrier. It changes weekly or daily who delivers our mail. This translates to a lot of mistakes. I get other people's mail and they get mine with some frequency. The woman mail carrier today looked like a lovely person, she waved to me, but then I realized that I had a packed that belonged to a neighbor 2 blocks away. When I brought it over to him, he had a box that belonged to someone on my street. I believe that the PO has not filled a position for some time so it's whomever is available and then mistakes are made as they are not familiar with the area. Either staff needs more training or the need to hire a replacement for the wonderful carriers who were reassigned. The actual PO experience when you go inside is as others report. The wonderful Asian lady who used to work there was so kind, but when she tried to get help from the back when the line was long, she was ignored, time and again. It's a poorly managed location and has been for some time. I usually go to Kensington instead. read more

Slowest post office on the Planet Earth. Like Pony Express slow. I walked over 3 skeletons from people that died while waiting in line.

Parking is horrendously small. There's always the Safeway parking lot next door, unless they ticket or tow. I try to avoid this location just from the hassle of getting into it. Southbound traffic down University can make it tricky. Watch yourself if you're coming up from Downtown SS or thereabouts. But as for specifics, I missed a package delivery on 12/22/2015 and scheduled redelivery for 12/24. I suppose I should have known better than to expect the postal service to be able to deliver a package twice. Once was enough for them. They didn't redeliver on 12/24 nor on 12/26 for my second redelivery request nor on 12/28 for my third redelivery request. I picked it up myself and was told by an employee of the USPS that when I get a missed delivery ticket, it's better to go in and pick it up myself. In other words, to do the postal service's job for them. Otherwise, it will not happen. The staff is casual. Not as impatient as at the post office on 16th Street. But I witnessed some condescending behaviour towards one customer because he wanted to renew his passport and has conflicting information as to how to do it. He said to the employee helping him, "You're speaking to me like a little boy." She denied it politely but she was treating him exactly like that. I was wondering if he was going to say anything. Avoid this post office if you can. Actually, avoid the entire US Postal Service if you can. read more
