Are you the kind of postal customer who comes totally unprepared to the post office? Do you enjoy packing, assembling and addressing your items at the front counter while a long line of customers piles up behind you, and the clerk gives you priority over customers waiting in line? Then this is the place for you! Every time I use this post office, I am astounded at how the postal clerks allow customers to keep their place in line while they have to completely put together their packages for mailing. Today, they allowed FOUR customers to do that! One man cut in front of five other customers because the clerk waved him over and said she would help him. I have no idea where he came from because I had already been standing in line for close to 10 minutes! An extra FYI: my mother uses the Sunnyvale Post Office on Fremont Avenue, and she says the clerks allow customers to do this there as well! In the past, I have asked the clerks very specific, very intelligible questions, and they have been incapable of answering them. In fact, they have rambled and given me answers to something completely different than what I asked. Twice, a clerk told me AFTER I packaged up my items (OUTSIDE OF THE LINE) that I could have used more inexpensive boxes or envelopes. Both time she saw me doing this and waited until I was in front of her to tell me. Bottom line, another bureaucratic experience that will leave you fuming and shaking your head. read more

Been going to this post office since 2016 and never had a poor experience. Small scale but staff always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Sometimes the lines are shorter, sometimes longer just like any other USPS, but not slower. Some minor interior cosmetic updating could go a long way to uplift this office, but this is not the fault of the employees nor does it affect my service rating. have had poor experiences at other USPS offices but not this one. read more

Small service area but efficient friendly service. My package was in a box that would have been twice as expensive had I not been informed. The postal worker pleasantly informed me that we could find a smaller box, did so, helped me transfer the contents, and repackage to mail. As Kim N. said, this place is very underused. I think people tend to forget it exists or something. I find it amusing that it shares a building with Jazzercise or whatever it is. In any case, I love that it's tiny and overlooked; it means I almost never have to wait in line very long or even at all. Then again, I'm never here at peak moments during the year, so I can't speak for like the week before Christmas or anything. Parking was annoying a few months ago; I'd have to park like five minutes away, like on Murphy or something. Now, even though there's still construction going on, you can actually park in the lot next to the building. Awesome. My stuff has always gotten to where I've sent it. Last week again went to this post office because it is the closest to my house. Each customer argued and was left dissatisfied. Strange day I thought, all the people irritated and impatient. My turn came. To be here again was a big mistake. The same employees, the same offensively impolite attitude, hatred of their work and to the people. To explain what services you need is hard work, knowledge of seven languages, Morse code, and the incredible power of the spirit. How can it be that these workers continue to stay on this job? Update: Another great experience. I walked in and was scared. There were seven people in front of me and only one person working. But this lady was a champ. She was expediting people through the line faster than a toupee can disappear in a hurricane. Her name tag was flipped around, so I could not see it. But she looked and sounded to be East Indian. Alright, so the Post Office must be like working at the DMV with people who really hate life. A job does not garner it's own phrase, "Going Postal" without merit and after coming to this post office I can certainly understand why someone would "Go Postal" walking through those doors. This post office was said to be the only post office with walk-in passport appointments. Low and behold we had been told the wrong information after calling multiple times because they had changed the policy to appointments only. Not only did we not get the memo but the rest of the post offices in San Jose didn't get them either. Five, count 'em, five people came in for a walk-in appointment, sent from other post office throughout the valley, only to be turned away by the complete asian bitch of a worker. I usually don't specify race, cuz it's rude, but she didn't speak Englsh beside, "YOU GOT PICTURE?" almost screaming at me, when I had to ask her to repeat herself because she didn't speak English. We were lucky out of the other five families who came in with the hopes of receiving a passport because, to her chagrin we were helped. That's why the place gets two stars instead of negative infinity. Horrible customer service. I've been screwed ocer several times now by these people. Why is it so hard to just do your job correctly?! I have to put in a deliver again request at least 3x before they actually deliver my mail again. They lie and are cheapskates. They're lazy and cannot do their job correctly. They'd rather just give me a notice saying they couldn't deliver even though I'm home rather than knocking on my door. I don't understand how it is so difficult to just deliver mail. No rating!!!!!! but I had to add something or my post would not accept. The 2 stars given by someone is way too generous. The worst possible service ever received in a post office. The two people behind the counter could not care less. I had a box to send out and the man behind the counter was the most unfriendly person, he had me open up my box and re-seal it and when I asked him for a little tape, he asked me to buy a whole roll. I only needed about 2 inches to seal the end of my box. Other post offices have helped with me a little tape. The two people sitting in his dark depressing place with no Enthusiasm, just waiting for it to be closing time. JUST AWFUL!!!!!!!! This post office is a hidden gem! By far the fastest post office experience I've ever had, not to mention some good entertainment from the aerobics class nextdoor! This post office is fairly close to our house, so it's usually my go-to location. It can get crowded around lunch time because a lot of people try to come here on the their lunch breaks. However, during other hours, the lines are shorter. Parking here can be nightmare during lunch hours too. Look for the 10min parking spots, and you'll be fine. ...and yes, the building is shared by some Jazzercise place. Every time I come to drop off a package, I hear some 80s pop music playing with a bunch of women dancing around. Free entertaining show and short lines. Sweet! read more

Brought prepaid label, paid for padded flat rate envelope - they say "we don't have them". I said "ok, let's use regular flat rate envelope". I ask for a glue stick that's sitting there in plain view. "No, you have to do it yourself, or buy a $3 roll of scotch tape" - for a 6-dollar envelope. I'm so tired of these guys not giving us our packages. They're hours are 9-5 Monday-Friday. I work 7-5:30 most days now and my girlfriend's days off are Sunday and Monday so we only get one chance per week to pick up deliveries. A couple weeks ago they gave her a package for me that they had for a month! I actually reordered the contents, got them, and then two weeks later they found the original box. Then two Fridays ago at 10:30am (I have the confirmation) UPS delivered car parts for me but the following Monday once again they were not given to my gf. They didn't even leave a delivery slip in our po box so she didn't know to ask for it. You'd better show up with proof it was delivered or they won't give it to you. She went back this Monday and showed them it was delivered there. The box they gave her was not a small box! How could they have missed it?! Also, they've tried to give me other people's packages more than once. Go private PO box not public. Hours and service will be better. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS POST OFFICE!!! I am an older person and the American Postal system in general has become incompetent. I seldom say negative thoughts and just leave not to do business again in an establishment. That said "buyer beware" I have since moved and this post office has not had the courtesy or good business sense to return refund. Renting a post office box in California is so expensive. I do not even pay a 1/3 of that where I live now. I did file a form 3533 (refund form: with the help from the other PO) and returned the key at my cost. I found out later from the other post office that I did not have to pay for the postage. So that is on them (the other post office) So that is why I mean in general the USPS system is terrible. Maybe all Government workers are terrible. I feel uncomfortable as HELL in American Govt. buildings. As if I need to bow down and kiss their fucking asses for doing what they are supposed to do. Hey if you have a Govt. job you are over rated and over valued. You cannot be fired. Actually you are irresponsible and unaccountable for your actions. And, the reality you use other people's $$$ to get a pay check. You create no VALUE. Case in point try to contact this Post Office by phone. Unavailable. They closed the big post office on Mary, so this is the next closest one. Why they did this while Downtown Sunnyvale is torn up, I'll never know. You have to navigate through all the construction, then end up not being able to find parking in the lot because of the Jazzercise classes next door. It continues to amaze me how bad the service at the Post Office can get. I have a small business and over the past 8 years, I have shipped at least a thousand packages. Probably 95% of my experiences at the Post Office were not very good. At pretty much every Post Office location, the clerks are unsmiling, not friendly and they like to push the most expensive services. My experience recently at the downtown Sunnyvale location was uniquely bad. I went one day to get a shipping estimate for a customer. I brought in the box and the clerk weighted it and gave me a quote of $27.95 for Priority Mail, which is what I wanted. After the customer paid the shipping cost, I went in the next day to ship. Imagine my great surprise when the shipping cost was now $49.80 . This is for the exact same box with the exact same item in the box. I guess that the shipping tape I used added $22 in shipping costs! How incredibly frustrating. I dealt with the same clerk that I had dealt with the previous day. I can only guess that she had a language problem, as English was her second language. I had to ship the item Parcel Post and explain to my customer that the shipping time would be at least 7 days instead of 3 days. To top it off, I wanted a shipping estimate on another item. I had the city name but not the zip code. The clerk could not look up the zip code!!! I find this almost unbelievable... but it's true. So I could not get the shipping estimate. I look forward to the day when the Post Office goes out of business. They really deserve that to happen. read more

ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE TRUE. Went to mail a package to my sister in Germany. Waited 35 min. in line and couldn't find any international forms out to use, so had to wait until I got to the counter. I said, "I'd like to mail this 1st class international." The employee behind the counter (for reasons unclear) angrily responded, "What makes you think it's going that way?" We then had a quite animosity-filled conversation about whether I could send my package at all - he claimed I was 2 ounces over and that I "must send it by Priority." (This is a lie - I weighed it before I left and it was exactly at 4 lbs, and also AHEM I get a say as to how I send my item). I asked for an international customs form, and filled it out to the side while he helped other guests. I took out an item of the package so it would definitely be under weight. When I get back to the counter another employee who returned from break argued with me about the customs form, and then referred me to the first guy I spoke with. He mockingly asked me if he needed to say things twice and asked me to repeat him, then interrupted me when I tried to speak. He then refused to help me and told me to go to the new main office in north Sunnyvale on Java Drive. Guess what? The employee at Java Drive sent off my package - no problem. The employee I dealt with at Taaffe St. was supposedly a supervisor or shift lead, and he seemed to deal with most of the women customers in a condescending way, sometimes yelling for no reason. This is not an appropriate way for a federal employee to behave. read more

I got there, saw no line so I thought I was having a lucky day. Proceeded to give my package to Violet, and she asks "do you want express or priority mail" to which I responded "how long would it take for regular?" Then she rudely said "you have to answer the question first before I enter the zip code!" I was confused and I'm sure my face looked puzzled so then she pointed to the credit card machine, which had a question about whether or not the package had fragile or hazardous materials in it. I don't know how I was supposed to know that but I proceeded to answer. She asked me if I needed tracking and I said no. She weighed my package and the machine then told me my Manila envelope with literally six sheets of stickers was going to cost $1.42 to mail. I inserted my card and then she waved at me and told me to remove my card. She printed a label and stuck it on the envelope. Then she did some other stuff and asked me to insert my card again. This time the cost was $3.50. I inserted my card, she printed another label. I was confused so I asked if there were were two fees. She defensively said she couldn't charge me twice, but she had to do it again because the first one wasn't enough postage... I trusted her and walked out. On my way to my car I saw the receipt she handed me and although it looks like the she didn't double charge me, she charged me for package service instead or large envelope, which I believe is what a Manila envelope is (?). The receipt also has a tracking number. What was the point of asking me if I needed one if she was going to give me one anyway? Did I get charged for that? I hope someone can explain this to me. I had a horrible experience at the Mountain View post office, when a clerk by the name of Cora refused to hand cancel some Christmas cards, or let me hand cancel them. She told me I had to go to Sunnyvale. The employees at the Sunnyvale post office were wonderful - friendly, helpful and efficient. What a different from Mountain View. I had to give this place a star based on Yelp's requirements. This is one of the worst Post Offices in the U.S. Not only is the staff rude, they are incompetent, and slow. Today I went there at 4.35, their was 2 people in front of me and two people working the counter. At 5pm it was my turn and Violet the most rude and slowest worker there. Put's up her closed sign. Mind you their is 15 people standing in line behind me at this time. I said to Violet are you kidding me? I have been standing in line for 25 mins, and you are going to go home now? Her response to me was I don't get paid over time, and do you know what time I got up today? I had my 6 year with me, who had started getting bored, and was starting to be cranky, not to mention I am 38 weeks pregnant, and just needed 2 stamps. Yes that is right Violet couldn't get me 2 stamps because she doesn't get paid overtime. Last time I check if the post office is open until 5pm, and you are standing in line for over 20 mins, they should help the person who is inline before they close. This isn't the first time that I have encountered Violet and her rude behavior. If you don't like that you don't get paid overtime, find a job that pays you over time. I have one for you Violet, why don't you just be grateful you still have a job. It's no wonder the Government is cutting your hours. Who want to go to the Post Office when they have people like you working there?????? I will be contacting her supervisor as well, as this is unacceptable. I can understand if it was 5pm and I had just walked in the door, but I had been there and was inline, unlike the 15 people behind me. read more
