That's right- the college has its own zip code. This was to circumvent the dry laws that Wellesley had so that Babson College could have its own pub, now called Roger's Pub after the founder of the school. History lesson over. I never thought that a post office could be welcoming as this one customer service representative is each and every time I enter the post office. I don't know her name yet. I've only visited this post office three times to mail letters and documents for my family. Each time I visited this post office, I was greeted by this friendly face working behind the counter with a smile. WHAT!!?? Is she smiling? Is she actually greeting me? Is she providing friendly customer service? OMG!?!? Twilight Zone?!? No, I am really experiencing this great service and a pretty good personality. This post office is conveniently located off to the side of the road between Newton and Wellesley. There are three parking meters out front and parking in the rear.

PO is on the first floor, there is a small parking lot on one side with exit onto Melrose St. I only needed to drop off a small package with a paid label on it, and the box to put packages in said "letters only". I went in and the guy in front of me was dropping off something he had received by mistake (pretty nice, most people would probably just toss it out) and I handed my package to the nice woman at the counter. She was very nice, gave me a receipt so I could track it and off I went. If you were to go here during the holidays - or to get your envelope postmarked on April 15 - the line would probably be out the door since it is a tiny space, but arrive early or go to another location (that probably will not have free parking).

When I arrived at the post office there was no prepaid drop box in the hallway. There was a long line of people waiting in line to do business that involved clerk services. As is the custom in every other post office that I have frequented, I politely excused myself as I went to drop my package off at the counter. Suddenly the big burly male clerk shouted at me yelling about how I had Cut the line. I politely explained that my package was prepaid and I was leaving it on the counter as I was the protocol in Newtonville. The clerk snarked at me saying "Well this isn't Newtonville". I was so shocked and offended by his raging, disproportionate response to my mistake that I snatched my package and turned to leave. I didn't intend to but was so upset that I shouted "F" YOU, on my way out the door. I am embarrassed by my blurted response. However, I have NEVER been treated so abusively. That clerk has no business working with the public!

I paid for it to be shipped in 2 days and it took 3 to get to the expected destination. The second time, I paid for it to get there in 2 days and again, it took 3 to get to the specific destination. While I understand slow service and slow mailing isn't the end of the world, when I'm the only one there and have to wait or when my packages constantly arrive later than they say it will arrive, it becomes frustrating.

Sure, it's a little pricy, but everything is included in rent, we have a pool and a gym (while small, it's awesome), and we're right next to the Galleria (a very small victory) AND the Charles River. Actually, it's a great location, next to both Kendall Square/Lechmere. The staff has become like family, as they are always concerned about helping out and being involved in our lives (in the good way, not the creepy I'm alone type of way). I once dropped some soil while moving our plants in the lobby, before I had a chance to turn around, someone had already pulled out the vacuum and began going at it. That is cleanliness. And it shows. The building is maintained gorgeously. Although the new art work acquired...is not pleasing to the eyes. And by that I mean, when I walk past it daily I have to avert my eyes and make sure I am not near anything hard, otherwise I feel like gouging my eyes out  It's this mixture or modern and pop art. GAG me now. It's a great place to live; rent or own.

It is a…read morebit pricy, but that's Cambridge (compared with say, Archstone or Watermark or Third Square, it's pretty comparable and even a bit cheaper). Codman Cambridgeside is the main realtor that does the selling and renting of units, but you can find others. For amenities, there's a small fitness room, concierge, indoor heated pool, sauna (when it works, which is mostly), showers, roofdeck, business room, and a little garden. And you can rent out the guest suites. And the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall was just right besides the condos -- a friend and neighbor used to say, "I didn't go there to go shopping, but it was a really decked-out corner store!" Very convenient. It's about a quarter to a third of a mile from both Lechmere (Green Line) and Kendall/MIT (Red Line). Nearby grocery stores include: Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop (up 28), Whole Foods on Charles St., Shaws in Twin Cities Plaza. Above the 6th floor, you get three towers. The Central Tower went straight to the underground parking and to the storage and also is closest to the mailroom. There are also less units in the Central Tower (only two on each floor) -- meaning less elevator traffic. I didn't get too into the politics although there was a Board of Directors who ran the condo association and they tended to be a bit insular (read: Old boys club). I think I heard some changes over the last year when there were some "moral misgivings" about some of the key staff, but I didn't get too into that. I also had a great river view via Charles Park next to The Esplanade Condominiums.
