Went to get my smog test with the coupon, to start, the employee was super rude yelling at me saying that it wasn't the coupon, all he wanted was for me to click where it said print. That should have been my sign to leave. Then I said I also needed an oil change and I specifically said, 5W40. I leave my keys and walk away. Now here is the real nightmare: I'm driving home and 10 minutes into my drive and my car sounds like it is going to explode. They put 0W20 oil in it (it's thinner and burns faster, I have a 1.8 turbo engine- my 5W oil burns fast and we are in a heat wave). But here's the worst part: THEY OVERFILLED IT WITH OIL. thank god that I didn't drive it more. My mechanic friend had to drive all the way over from LA to come and check it and change the oil. Other news: they stripped the grip off my oil drain plug too and had to buy a new one. So, on top of the "affordable" oil change, I had to pay 65 dollars for the oil my car needs and 12 dollars for a new oil drain plug. DO NOT COME HERE. To save money, ended up paying the same I would have paid somewhere else with better reputation. Seriously. They are rude, from the other reviews they are scammers and they can mess up your car. read more

Don't visit them. They charged us twice. The first time, they said the car's computer wasn't ready, did nothing to the car, charged us $70+, and told us to come back. We came back, found the same worker, and talked with him, who recognized us. We thought they would finish their service next time or give us a discount. However, he charged us another $70+ twice. So the total cost is $ 140 or more. Another smog check would let you stay and watch what they do, but they would ask you to wait aside. Very crafty business. First they said it'll be $42 with certificate ($9 which is normal, PLUS $3 in "fees") Then he says my 2015 Hyundai genesis coupe is a luxury car so it's extra. Total $68 but he'll give a "$10 discount" so $58. The owner is a scammer misleading customers into coming and paying double. I'd rather pay $50 to an honest and upfront business. read more

Very dishonest. I took a 2000 model year Bmw sedan and show them the coupon for 29.75. Before I drove over there, I called over the phone. They said yeah bring the car the BMW and the coupon. . I drive the car over there. One of the Worker tells me it's a BMW. It cost more. . I have been a Smog technician for 27 years . When it comes to Smog checking model Year 2000 and up it makes no difference sedan a BMW a Toyota a Nissan whatever they all Smog check the same way . SUMMARY: Don't go here. High prices and rude staff. FULL STORY: I saw a coupon for this smog check location advertising $29.75 + certificate. I called on the phone to ask to ask about wait times and if the price was accurate. I spoke to Howard and he was VERY RUDE. He told me there was no wait time and asked me "So will you come in now?" When I drilled down on the price, I found the coupon was a lie and he price was actually closer to $60 dollars. He continued to pressure me to come in to his smog location by saying "So when will you arrive?" and "So should I expect you?". Finally I told him no, and he dropped the price to $50 dollars. I still told him no and then he asked me where else around town, I could expect to get a ~$30 price. I told him the name of two other shops and their coupon prices. He laughed and said "If you find a place that gives you that price, tell me and I'll take my car there!" He then hung up. Therefore, Howard, I am happy to report that I did find a location that was much better on customer service and I got the price of $28.75 + $8.25 certificate for a total price of $37! I recommend Auto Check Center on Auto Center Drive, Irvine. I recommend Howard adjust his attitude toward customer service. If he wasn't so smug, I wouldn't have left a review at all. Ripped me off... They cleared my check engine light (gas cap) and told me to drive to San Clemente and back to complete the drive cycle and then they'd be able to run the smog check. I did so and when I came back they plugged in a OBD2 scanner to make sure my sensors were clear, said I was good, and took the car for smog check. 20 mins later they say it failed because I didn't drive it long enough before getting the smog check. Apparently there's a code they can't check for with the OBD. If I knew that there was any chance of this, I would've just waited and done the check later. Instead, they made it sound like I was good to go, and took my money for a failed smog check that would've been a pass if they just told me to come back in a couple of days. After charging me, they told me to come back another day and pay for another smog and it'd pass... Wasted my time and money, will never be back read more

Their coupon for smog for under $30 is a lie. You call and they quote you double the price (I was quoted $68) citing reasons not mentioned in the coupon or online. I needed a smog fast and they said they could get my car done in about 15 minutes. When I got there, I told the guy I was trying to have the car somewhere by 1pm (30 minutes from now).. my vehicle preceded to just sit for I've 10 minutes before anyone moved it from where they told me to Park it for them. If I wasn't in a hurry for the smog check I wouldn't have come here. They clearly don't tell the truth, from the only coupon.. nor do they try to be mindful of you time (they could just say they don't think they can make the timeframe I needed to make, so I could be aware). There are cheaper places in the area that will probably be more honest with your time and upfront with the price from the beginning.
