I have another car that needs to be smogged, and I plan to bring it in tomorrow. There can be a bit of a wait at times, but that is understandable because they are busy, which is a good sign. No matter where you go, there is likely to be some wait anyway. As the famous saying goes, "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet." While I waited, he introduced me to two of his regular customers in the waiting area, who turned out to be from my hometown. That made the experience feel even more comfortable. Their smog check promo is a better deal than what many other shops offer. Some of the negative reviews about pricing seem to come from customers who might not have read the fine print carefully. Pricing varies depending on the vehicle, with the lowest rate applying to cars from certain model years. I needed to get a smog check done for my sedan and was quoted $28.75 plus $8.25 (for a total of $37) over the phone. No appointment was needed. This place is a joke. They will do anything just to charge you. I went to this spot without checking OBD2 and they charged me just to say that my car was not ready. Next time when I returned to them when all sensors were ready they said that I should drive more because I had pending codes. The main thing that I went to a different smog check station and I was told that I do have a big leak of gasoline on the engine. Auto check Center guys didn't tell me anything at all even they were offering to repair catalyst converter on my car. Bottom line if you want to get ripped off this is a place to go. read more

I have switched between shops and this is going to be my shop. They know their game and found an issue in my car that my previous mechanic denied to exist. My car doesn't make a weird noises and I know if it does they'll take care of it. I haven't seen any surprise cost and their coat is quite reasonable. I called in for a quote for a smog check and provided the year and make of my car and they said it would be $38 which included the certification. I had my boyfriend taking my car the next day and he told me they charge $70. This is very misleading and dishonest! Then I went directly to the website and saw that they had that price offered only if you printed the coupon that was not explained to me when I called over the phone nor did I know there was a coupon that existed. I just simply asked what the quote was for my make and model and they gave me the coupon price but then charged me full. In addition, they were trying to upsell us on changing my brake pads when I just recently went to a mechanic and had my brake pads checked, and they definitely don't need to be changed at this time. UPDATE UPDATE I recently traded my previous vehicle in for a newer one, a 2020 Subaru Forester. After getting all the paperwork done I immediately took my car over to Mohammed and Monsoor to have the 60k servicing done. I was so happy that I did!! They found several items that were in need of service even though the paperwork from CarMax had assessed the vehicle in "excellent" condition. My car needed new brakes and a front set of rotors! I also had a few minor things with the oil filter etc. Once again the team at Auto Check Center did amazing work on my vehicle in a timely manner and charged an incredibly fair price for their service. I cannot say enough good things about the guys here and their family of technicians. It's exactly the reason why I continue to bring my vehicles here, and why I will always bring my cars here. The weekend can get busy here as with most solid repair shops. I highly recommend bringing your car in early on a weekday, like Tuesday-Thursday for minimal exposure to lots of people and longer wait times. read more

This review is specially for the smog check. I came by after lunch for a walk-in smog check and there was several people in the waiting area and in line so it looked like it would not be a quick in and out. The owner said it would take an hour or so due to the volume which was okay so I decided to wait. It took just a little over an hour, which was fine. As a reference, I've gone to several other smog check places that are dedicated to smog checks (that's all they do) and it has typically taken 20 minutes or less. However, those places seems to charge $10-20 more so that's one trade off. One thing that I noticed with some of those other places is they do not re-test for free, if you fail the test, here they will re-test if they service the vehicle to help you pass. It was nice weather out on the particular day we came so the outdoor waiting area was very comfortable to sit out if need to wait for a few hours, an indoor waiting area is also available but not very spacious. There's also free Wi-Fi so you can connect your laptop or iPad while you're waiting. There are coupons that you can find in your mail or also online, on their website, so you'll want to check first before coming. I may consider them in the future for other service. read more

I just had the worst experience dealing with another smog check station that was straight scam artist. Auto Star Smog Check & Repair in Lake Forest, CA did me wrong by falsifying prices and I was already out $60 when the check should have been closer to $35. Then I find this place. A coupon that reads $28.75 + $8.75 for most cars. I get skeptical again and do some research. The owners have kept the same price for decades and I was not able to find a better price for smog check (STAR certified) anywhere. I walked in, had a lovely chat with the two gentlemen in the front, paid $37, and left within 15 minutes. The place is friendly, transparent, fast, and affordable. Definitely coming back here and telling everyone about this place. read more

Their charge for a smog check is fairly reasonable. However, their work was super inefficient. The mechanic that was assigned to work on my vehicle was barely able to move due to age (with due respect). My car was hooked to the machine, and the process just didn't start for roughly 20 minutes. When I followed up on a time estimate, he almost shouted at me. Very unfriendly. It felt like that I owed him a million. When the work was done, he even didn't bother to back my car out of the bay. Very unprofessional. I saw him even use my personal hygiene products in the car. Very unethical. Not a pleasant experience. In summary, very unfriendly, very unprofessional, very unethical! read more
